April update PLEASE READ!!!!
Sorry for the wait. i was very busy. OK here is her update.
She was very glad to see me. she nickerd, which she has only done once or twice."Hi girl" i said and she nosed me. i told her how much views we have any new comments we have ect. then my friends arrived, and turned out April and Leo. Mr.beau was in a time out for nipping the other horses. after she got turned out, we trudged back up to the barn and got to work mucking out her stalls. i left some treats, grass and some more treats in her grain bucket.
I am well known around the barn for cleaning saddles so my friend asked me if i could clean her saddle. i nodded.
1 saddle and saddle soap later we were all done. i started down then hollerd to my mom to pick me up at aprils pasture. i jogged down and fed her a few treats and grass.
I told her that if i was offerd a horse i would say no and even if i was offerd a champ racehorse i would say no. i told her that i only want her and no other horse in the world. She nuzzled me (Awwwwwwww) as my mom drove up. April followed me and i waved to her as she trotted down the fence intill we dorve away.
Here is a Question: what treats do you feed your horses? (i want to find a raelly good one for April. i feed her start to finish treats.)answers post on her blog.

April Update.PLEASE READ!!!
april was just relaxing when i came. i called her name and she got up and nickerd hello. i looked in her stall and it was HORRIBLE!!!!(i had to muck it out:( i sighed and got to work. april was lead into her next door NEIGHbors stall. he had bit her before(for the full story go to the one that was posted on 9/7/12) i got to work, mucking out the stall for at least 45 minutes. i mucked out some other ones too. the bad thing was that it was PORING outside. in order to get the poop out to the maunor pile we had to go outside and it was also FREEZING out.
then i remberd that i had saved the most BIGGEST, JUCEST apple for april. i grabbed it and ran to her stall. she took her time bit then she started taking chunks at a time. CON: she used me as a human napkin!!LOL!! a apple slobber and laughs later i said goodbye to April and we left.
April has 700 views! YAY!! i am buying her a Likits treat bar! thank you to everyone who has visited her since she has joined Club horse! :) ( Really april?!?!) oh and of course she says hi and a snort and she wants to say that she is LOVING the cold weather! she winnys to all the mustang on Club horse and Coco, the mini horse from MA.

Thanks so much for your vote...it was such a wonderful surprise to see Luna had been voted HOTD...and she wasn't even running for it! I gave her extra carrots, of course. I went riding yesterday, but afterwards I tried something I saw in a YouTube video. I started teaching her to "shake hands" (or hoofs? LOL). She started getting the idea of what I want after about 15 minutes. She doesn't offer up a hoof on command yet, but she started lifting her hoof towards me (instead of backwards, as if I was going to clean the hoof)and letting me hold it as long as I like. So that's progress, and today I will repeat until she gets it. It's just a stupid trick, but it's fun!
It's getting real cold around here now, but that won't keep me away from Luna. Have a horsey day! Voted.

Week two of the HOTM run, Woohoo!
Question of the day: Has your horse ever been in a near death situation and lived to tell about it? ( or rather whinnny about it)
A long time ago when my fencer wasnt working Dakota used to break out of his fence all the time, and several times ran down the middle of a busy tar road near our place, but never got hit. Another time he was inside his 3-sided shed when a tornado picked it up and completely demolished it, and somehow never got a scratch.
If your horse has ever been in a near death situation, I would love to hear about it!

Happy Monday!
How's April doing lately? How was your weekend?
I'm sorry it's been so long since I've been on HC. I was recently laid off a job I've had for 10 years (a merger/corporate buyout thing), so I've been busy dealing with that.
I did buy a new saddle though. I've ridden English my whole life, but a friend encouraged me to try Western, so I got a Western saddle for trail rides. I didn't know how to do up the girth though, so I felt silly asking someone to help! I admit, though, it was a REAL comfortable saddle.
I've been having such a blast with Luna lately. She's really become quite friendly, almost like a dog.
Yesterday, she was laying on the ground when I went out to see her, so I just went right up to her and laid down with her! It was so fun!
The weather here in Illinois turned real cold real fast, and I bet the weather in Vermont is pretty bitter, too. I guess Winter is definitely coming LOL!

April Update PLEASE READ!!!!
When i got to see April she was getting woked out on the ground she wasn't really in the mood for running in the roung pen. After that we brought her in and i spent a little "Girl Time" with her, reading to her my fave horse books (She LOVES the Black Stallion!) talking to her about school and telling her how many views she has and any new comments on her blog. LOL!!! i also told her that if we get 700 views i will but her some horse treats to make her HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! :)

also April got bitten!so april was just hanging out when this mean horse next to her bit her!!!
She skitterd back then fell on her butt. then she got back up agein. My friend closed his stall door. There was not any blood but she was skitish for a second. I calmed her down.

Happy Sunday!
Has school started for you yet? Don't let homework interfere with "April" time LOL!
I had a great time yesterday. The stable where I board Luna had a 42nd birthday celebration with an open house, so the public came out and it was great! I got to show off Luna to a lot of horse-crazy children, and answer their horse-related questions. Then I went on a short trail ride, about 45 minutes, with 8 other friends of mine. It was a hot day, but cool and pleasant under the trees in the woods.
The last week or so, Luna has been real calm and accepting of everything I ask. I don't know if I've become a better rider suddenly, or if she's decided it's just easier to put up with me LOL!
It's almost 7 a.m. and it looks like rain today. I hope I can get a quick ride in. If not, I'll just go out and groom her.

I had a great birthday yesterday. The weather was ideal, I went trail riding with some friends and worked a little with Luna in the round pen, my family went out and got me Chinese food for dinner (no cooking for me!), and the current issue of Horse Illustrated arrived in my mailbox, and I saw that a submission I sent to it got published (the very last one on page 21)! Plus, as a treat for myself, I bought some purple mane extensions to jazz up Luna's look. What a great day!

i wrote a poem
Historys horses.
Along the blue rockys
agenst the ground and sky,
here comes a heard of horses
with a stallion nearby.
he thrusts his head up to the sky,
calling for his heard,
his heard then winnies back,
then canters as fast as a bird.
for these arnt domestic horses,
the ones you will find in barns,
for these are mustangs,
the wests great wizard of oz.
they are part of history,
for you should know and i
these tough little horses carried
famous people who went by,
like Ulissas S. Grant
and cincanatti you see
horses are perfatly,
part of our history.
