What a busy day ahead of me. Lizzy rode with me to take Whsikey yesterday. After we got back we groomed Deacon and Rocket and wormed everyone. It was to hot by the time we got back to ride. Hugs and a quick vote :)

My goodness! Horses are so smart. I've noticed that Sadie sometimes has what looks like dried drops of water on her back. Monday, she filled her mouth with water and tossed it on her back. How cool is it that she knows how to cool herself off? I don't know if this is something horses normally do, or if she was inspired by being hosed down or cooling off in the sprinkler. Just amazing! So thankful for the wonderful things we learn from our four legged loved ones. Love always and a vote.

Basically, almost too hot to think. Was sweating when I came in from feeding and topping up the water tubs at 8AM. No breeze, very humid. Will be heading up to Throwaway Ponies on Weds, see if I can find a nice, gentle mare for a companion for Nugget when Cisco and I are gone.

we have had no rain this month either. I'm not growing anything so I just need rain for the pasture! it's that time of the year that daily cool downs are part of my afternoon duties! The boys enjoyed the carrot party!! Whiskey will go to the vet tomorrow for his yearly shots. I will probably do some things in the house until around 5-5:30 then get out again, have a great day and a great one tomorrow ♡

I got outside around 6:30 am yesterday and mowed, weed eat, sprayed the horses down. I let them dry and groomed them and applied their Freedon 45. It was 11 am when I finished all that so I went on inside because the heat was coming on pretty strong. We came back out around 5:30 pm and it had cooled some. We grilled steaks and they were yummy!!! Have a wonderful weekend ♡

Another very hot afternoon but I got out there and pulled off fly masks, filled water tanks and watered a few plants and trees. Temps have stayed a hair under 100 but the "feels like" have been in the triple digits. I turned the boys out to graze while I cooled down. This is not my favorite time of the year it’s just too hot! Happy trails and Have a wonderful day “)

yes those tiny hoofs would be tougher to manage. It is good you can trim the big horses hooves, I couldn't do that. I don't have the strenght to hold them up that long~lol ♡ what can I say, it was hot hot hot this weekend. Had short early rides in the morning, just enough so they would remember they are riding horses! Had chicken and ribs and my grandson stayed Saturday night with us. Everything is so dry. It has not rained one day in July here. Have a wonderful Monday!!! silent votes for rest of your herd, I always do unless I'm extermly busy!

So sorry I haven't been on in a couple of days. The internet was disconnected to the laptop. Being computer illiterate, I had no idea what was wrong. Planning to buy a cheap laptop around the end of August. I won't be able to use Austin's after the 24th of next month, because he starts back to school. Sadie's doing well. Love and a vote. <3

I have been so busy these last few days. Seems plans change now and then but it has happened often these days! Andrew (hay man) couldn't find anyone to load hay. So Cliff and I ended up picking it up from the field. We saved $1.00 a bale but man I sure wanted it delievered so he didn't have to do it that way. What a man won't do for the love of his women and horse!! I can't believe kids don't want to make extra money during summer break...we picked up 116 and will get our last 34-40 in another week or so. No riding, it was all work no play kind of a day off! Happy hump day <)___~

I had a bareback ride on Whiskey yesterday morning. Lizzy didn't hear her alarm so she didn't make it over. I gave my truck a bath and did a few more chores before the afternoon heat set in. Turned the herd out for the day and brought them in around 7 and fed their evening meal. I love watching them eat!! Have a GREAT weekend ♡

Sadie's mister came a day early. Austin and I put it up. Somehow, one of the heads got stripped. Instead of sending it back, I'm going to seal it off. The rest of the heads work great. Sadie enjoyed spending time with us. She was so cute watching Austin. Easily entertained. Lol. Love and a vote.

glad you are able to start working with the horses again, I know you missed them! Whiskey and the boys enjoyed carrots and alfalfa cubes to celebrate King Whiskeys HOTM win! It has been way too hot to ride. I am hoping to ride early Saturday morning around our home area. I will give baths and let the horses have a spa type afternoon! The lakes are still closed and it will be close to July 26th before opening. Happy trails and Have a wonderful day “)

We received 1 ¾” of rain last night-the wind was unbelievable!!! I had to go and get feed and grocery’s yesterday and by the time we were finished it was too hot to ride. I did get fly stuff on the boys and checked the fly mask and then just watched them graze for the evening! Working the weekend but will try to do something with them after work but it will be to muddy to ride. Here is our finial tidbit on the Fabulous Rocky Mountain Horse Breed!
*TOBE was used for breeding until July of his thirty-fourth year, and he passed on his gait, disposition, and other great qualities to his offspring. It has been said that TOBE's progeny followed in his "perfectly-timed" footsteps. TOBE sired many fine horses before his death at the ripe old age of thirty-seven. One outstanding trait passed on was longevity, as many of his offspring were still breeding into their late twenties and early thirties.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

* In the early 1960s, Sam Tuttle managed the trail riding concession at the Natural Bridge State Park in Powell County, Kentucky. He had as many as fifty horses there, including TOBE. This stallion was often seen tied to the hitching post alongside all the mares. He became quite well known in the ten or so years he was ridden there. Besides breeding, TOBE was used as a trail horse. He carried Sam, and sometimes the trail guides who worked for Sam, with sure-footed ease over mountainous terrain for many years. Although Sam would allow other people to ride TOBE occasionally, it was always a ride closely supervised. He loved to show off his beloved stallion, but also kept a close eye on him. Everyone who rode TOBE enjoyed his gentle temperament and comfortable gait. It amazed people to think the well-mannered horse they were riding was indeed a breeding stallion.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

* Even through the hard times of the Depression and World War II years, Sam Tuttle kept a sizable herd of thirty to forty horses on his farm. Sam is considered as the man most responsible for the survival of the Rocky Mountain Horse. TOBE was the primary Rocky Mountain stallion used in Sam's breeding program. In the 1950s, many people were selling their stallions, and the horse population in general was rapidly declining due to tractors and farm machinery available. Even so, breeders remembered TOBE, and he was always in demand for stud service. People brought their mares to TOBE from several different states, and he was as famous in Estill County as MAN O' WAR was in Lexington, Kentucky. Everyone who rode TOBE fell in love with him. TOBE's offspring were always in demand, and Sam never had any trouble selling all the Rocky Mountain Horses he could produce.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

Sadie has a shade. I wanted to put the tarp up, for more shade. Rick's using it, though. The heat doesn't seem to bother her. She stands in the sun a lot. She is enjoying that mister, though. She backs her butt up to it and stands there. Love and a vote.
