How We Met

My mare and best friend of 30 years had to be put down, and I swore I was done with horses forever. I always looked online at horses, but shied away from getting another. A friend sent me a picture of a horse that needed to be rescued, but I didn't feel that was the horse for me. Something told me to keep looking at the other horses on that page. I looked and looked, often shaking my head in disgust at the way people treat these beautiful, regal animals. There was a beautiful, medicine hat paint for adoption/rescue that was less than 15 miles from me! Being of Native American descent, I knew of the legend of the Medicine Paint Horse, so... I emailed about him, yes he was still available, I went and looked and my heart was lost to him. I rescued him, and he rescued me. We have been together for a year now and I look forward to at least 25 years of happiness with him. He doesn't want for a thing, and neither do I..

Hi BJ I posted more pictures of BLAZZE,Buttermilk and Dusk but allot just a few. But Buttermilk was good last night when I rode him he staid at a canter until Harry went off.( a horse at Jackson's barn)so that spoiled that so I put Buttermilk back and then fed everybody and went to the house to eat dinner!
Here is my vote to every one of you horses/ horse!

Monday's Visit 08-20-12
So my Sister came to visit me and we had a good day together. She brushed me first and told me what a handsome guy I am... she didn't have to tell me that, I already know! The cute pony next door named "Buttercup" always tries to rub noses and nicker softly at me. Sister tacked me up, and then we worked on a few things. We are working on backing up, standing still and "whoa." Here's what I think of these three things... standing still is no problem for me because I don't mind unless a fly is bugging me... hahaha! I made a joke! Get it....? "bugging me?" I can nap and relax when we are standing still. Backing up is another story... I know how to back, but I just don't like it. When Sister asks me to back I try to resist her as long as I can, but you know what? She is nearly as stubborn as I am. She waits me out, even when I stomp my front hooves and paw. So.. finally I give in, and take a step or two backward. She says that's all she wants is a step or two... So when I do it, she pats and rubs my neck and tells me I'm a good boy and she loves me lots. So, I guess giving in isn't too bad... now "whoa-ing" is a drag. When I want to go, go, go, Sister wants me to "whoa". I know how to do this too. Sometimes I throw my head a tiny bit to show her I'm displeased with this, but she talks firm to me and keeps telling me "whoa"! I feel it in the bit and reins, in her legs and I hear it in her voice. She means it. So, I "whoa" and stand still. I guess I better behave myself, or I wont get the best part of all... my rubdown and brushing and my yummy treats. Sister gives me treats for being good and doing what she asks me to do. Hmmmm... I guess being good does have it's perks! (wink, wink) Talk with ya later! (yawn) Time for a snooze!

Come visit me, Billy Jack.

Friday night I went to see Billy Jack and to help the stable owner put up a round pen for Billy Jack and I. We joined it right to his turn out pen, and he can go graze the grass down and just down right enjoy himself! I plan on going over to see him in a little while and ride a little bit. He always gives me one of those looks like..."why do you always interrupt my meals?" and then I laugh and rub his neck. We work well together too. I have noticed since I got him last May, that he didn't like to have his ears messed with. He seemed to have gotten over the handling of the right ear, but that left ear he pulls away from me and acts a little testy about it. But.... when he is eating, he hardly seems to notice if I touch it or not. Mind over matter, I think. We shall see. Take care everyone and stay tuned to see how this goes today. I'm looking forward to it. Bye for now....

Come visit me, Billy Jack.
