*sigh* Leggy's training has suffered yet another set-back... I chipped my pelvis horseback riding (not horseback falling mind you), so the doctor told me no horseback riding... which I'm taking to mean no riding untrained horses.Come visit me, Whistlin Dixie, Daisy Mae, Legacy & Pinto.

Legacy practices being my most expensive horse. So Leggy had a melanoma or a sarcoma at the base of his left ear... the vet came out to do a pre-op and decided that she could remove it right there. It took two doses of sedative to knock him out enough The vet said that because there wasn't a root that she had to cut through it may not grow back - so yay. But when she was nearly through he stumbled... forgot he was awake and standing... and I grabbed his head and neck and kept him from banging his face on the ground and the next morning I had a huge bruise on the knee that was next to Leggy... I don't know if he hit me with his hoof, 'cause he did stick it out real quick. Legacy now has four stitches at the base of his ear... he had to be kept up for five days and given anti-infection medication. We turned him out in our little pasture (like two acres or so) with his sister because he HATES being kept up but he just ran around, whinnying and naying and finally he and Dixie decided they'd had enough of each other and needed Pinto to mediate - Dixie cleared the fence, Legacy (in true Legacy form) did not. He got himself unstuck and there was minimal blood involved, but I kept him penned up in the six-foot-high fence for the rest of the three days... no matter how much he hated it. I did walk him a couple of times and he was an angel. I love him bunches - he's my puppy and I adore him. He's turned back out in the pasture with his little mini-herd now and he's very happy to be back out there. And I'll get the biopsy results back Wednesday or Thursday. Come visit me, Whistlin Dixie, Daisy Mae, Legacy & Pinto.
