Hi and a vote,
Rocky's hooves are trimmed. Still treating what remains of the heel scratches. This afternoon, Rocky, Blue and I went for a ride down the road, through the dog park and around to the stable nearby. Kept Blue on the leash to be safe and avoided any bow hunters by staying away from the woods. Rocky was happy to get his dinner and carrots. All are in the corral for the night.

Hi & a vote,
Continuing to treat Rocky's heel scratches daily. All clear now except for the worst one, but it's showing great improvement and should be clear in another 5-7 days I would say, or sooner maybe.

Hi & a Vote,
It was still warm this afternoon, so gave Rocky a total bath (probably the last for the season) with Microtek shampoo. The other horses were out in the pasture, so when I set him free, Rocky cantered as fast as he could back to them. He got more carrots too! Didn't get a ride in, though. Maybe next weekend.

Hasnt the moon been gorgeous the last couple of nights? It looked big as a house and orange coming up over the Clemson field last night. Madison and I had to go out and stare at it a while.
I rode Allie out in the pasture yesterday, used her buddies as obstacles to ride around. She kept wanting to trot, so we just kept weaving in and out between them and she eventually relaxed into just walking. A straight line sure seems to tempt her to go faster, and even loose, she often trots or runs when she has somewhere to go. Always in a hurry. But she did well and it was fun being out of the riding ring.
Well, hope you have a great friday.

Another wet day, but not showers at all times. Cleaning out another round bale feeder, and pushing the wheelbarrows, across the yard to where the pheasant pen is, so I can plant flowers or something better than weeds. My weed eater is not working, well, neither of them are.
Hopefully, Maya and Ryder get to come home today, but this morning Tristan said baby Ryder has jaundice, so its "iffy".
Very cool this morning, but no frost yet....but soon.

Hi & a vote,
Have been so busy over the past weeks with my son's wedding this past Saturday!! It was a wonderful and special family event and now they are off on their honeymoon, then return to Chicago. So now, trying to catch up on things. I did get to ride Rocky on Sunday afternoon and the weather was still mild for this time of year. Poor Rocky, neglected during the wedding activities, I had to do lots of brushing, detangling mane, knots in tail, etc. Now treating some scratches that developed on his back heels. His pink skin seems more prone to developing scratches as my friends two horses never get it. Treating daily now and already improving and one side is nearly clear and the other will take longer. I usually use Micro-tek gel and ran out, but Tractor Supply didn't have any near us, so I got Vetericyn Plus for now. Not sure yet how well this will work.

Oh, it is that time of the year, need to get all the hay brought in and put away for the winter.
Well, it is now "officially" I am a great-grandma. Tristan and Maya had their little boy yesterday (3rd) at 11:01 am 7#8oz and 20(???) inches long. Ryder David. I will see if I remember how to add pictures tomorrow.
Yesterday, went for tires on the car, 100 miles is the closest Farm Fleet store. Buy 3 get one Free. Enjoyed the day, but had to play catchup with cleaning out the chicken coop. Only half done. At least all the chicken got to go outside, inside of under the lean-to. But no sign of the fox. Started gathering up leaves for bedding for them, but do not need to put it down for a long while....I hope, calling for frost in a couple of days.

Hi! I missed seeing Ace in the spotlight, but so happy that he got HOTD the other day :) I saw Koot on Saturday and took him to the HUGE arena which you sort of take a trail to get there so I hopped on him bareback and took him and he loved it. He was running around, kicking up his heels, and then I rode him back. I'll be seeing him again Wednesday after work. I'm trying to squeeze in the final few week day visits before it really gets dark too early. Voted. XOXO Danya and Koot

Mike must have gotten tired just watching me taken the floor apart, so I "let" him help. He is helping taking the feeders apart too. Just 1 section of the feeder, the 2 of us can barely slide along the ground. They are extra heavy duty feeder from a buffalo barn.
Isn't it hard to think of firewood, when the weather is so nice. Do you have those nasty little tiny flys and now the Japaneses Beetles are starting. Even the chickens and the guineas will not eat them. And if you kill one they just stink.
Getting light rain now, of course when I was doing chores, it had to pour. Seen one little tiny head sticking out from the hen in the rabbit cage, it is a little guinea keet, but Mama is a chicken. She had 10 eggs, so will see in a few days what others look like.

Hi Ace, Congrats on HOTD and here's a vote for ya. Yep we're all getting old and breaking down, me the lawn tractor and the big tractor! LOL! Glad that Ace was good in his round pen work. Now maybe a ride tomorrow! Well did it get hot and humid today! The breeze kinda took a hike too! Honey and I got out early this morning for our walk. Got home and waited for Ingrid to here and play with Bullseye to see how donkeys react to different things and people. Of course my boy loves people and don't care about things. She brought a tarp with her to see what he'd do, he didn't even care! He got lots of peppermints from them. Then I turned the kids out, was about 82F degrees and still out there. Wood man came with my first two cords of wood! They ran a little in the pastures when the big truck was dumping it. Then settled down. Then Erin came from Grateful Doggies and got the 6 stacks of newspapers and the two big boxes of filled bones for the dogs! Finally broke for lunch at 4:30, but brought the horses in first, Indy as having a fit the flies were really getting to him. Tomorrow it's going to be even hotter, so they will probably be staying in for sure! Marion and the blondes.

Yay, Ace is in the spotlight today! Congratulations! Hope you get to have some celebratory horse time today.
Another sunny hot day yesterday. Finished cutting all the grass, ran an errand or two, cleaned out the kids' sink drain (it had quit draining), laundry and dishes and supper. Could've gotten in some groundwork with Allie or a quick ride on a QH, but felt very run down all day, so I didn't horse. I'm hoping to maybe get on Allie today and also start working on the shelter roof that blew off. My daughter informed me last night that she's in "desperate" need of a phone charger, lol, so I guess I'll be going downtown at some point too. Gotta coordinate going out around the college football traffic.
Well, hope you have a great saturday.

Brake line broke on the car, when we came home from the funeral the other day. Just got it back tonight, because the other side needed fixing too. Not a regular garage/repair shop, because he works at a factory too. But he is a good guy, I always bring him some fresh eggs too. Yesterday, I did not even get on HC, by the time I turned the computer on it was time to go to bed.

I feel like a little kid, who wants to still play outside long after dark. Been so nice these last few days, I take back all the "nasty" things I said about Mother Nature. Been picking apples from drying for the winter for horses, washing jars for making apple jelly, (figured I would wait until a rainy day to do it), still working on cleaning under the lean-to and hauling it to the flower bed I am making. Been finding lots of baby trees in the woods, so they begged me to take them home, and replant them....I swear I can hear them calling me, maybe the wood fairies!! Went to a garage sale today, lots of horse tack, like I needed more, but did get a few nice deals. Spent my allowance for the rest of the year. Moved the guinea pigs outside a few days ago, so they can enjoy the breeze and fresh air. Lots easier to clean the cages everyday too, the plastic bottom ones, I have to wash and dry them. Once they have to stay inside again, will use woodchips for them. Sadie and the kitten, Precious, and very much interested in them. Sadie will not hurt them, but Precious is such a naughty little girl. Grizzly and Smokey don't even bother them outside.

So glad you're finally having drier cooler weather. What a relief, huh? And yes, it'll be wonderful if you actually get to ride for a change.
That's good news about your family in TX and Fla being okay. Everybody I know who has family/friends in Tx, Fla, and Puerto Rico were all okay too, praise the Lord! Don't know how, but whoo-hoo!
They finally got the power line fixed yesterday afternoon. Every time the wind blew, the tree would sizzle and smoke, but thank God it never went up in flames. I'm sure the neighbors were excited, they had been almost 48 hrs without power. My daughter turned in to the grumpiest thing ever just cause ours was out an hour and a half while they did repairs, and then instant smiles and giggles when the power came back on. Oh brother! She admitted to being spoiled, lol.
I'm dying to ride, but I'm so covered up with chores, continuing ed for work, repairs from Irma, I may never see a saddle again. Ok, that's an exaggeration, but it feels like it. Grrrrr. Maybe if I drive the truck more often to make up for it, lol.
Well, hope you have a great thurs. Take care.

Come visit me, Allie & BJ and his mom Gracie.

About the only thing I managed to accomplish this weekend was giving Blue a bath and clipping his nails, which he hates. Now he is ready to start Trick dog training class tomorrow. After a chilly wet start to the day, it turned into a beautiful day. Decided to move the guinea hen and her babies into the calf hutch, such a simple sentence, turned into to a long project. After removing all the things, like tarp, boards, and piles and piles of weeds, we finally got the rabbit cage inside the kennel, of course all the babies are out in the long grass and weeds next to the garden and the brush pile. Finally, she calmed down and most of the babies went into the cage, but then went out just as fast, the fit threw a 1/2 space. Last babies I manage to just catch and we got her into the hutch and I had counted 15 babies while rounding them up, but I knew that was not right, because she only had 15 eggs to start with, and found 4 dead ones half out of the shell, and threw out 6 other eggs, but I counted right 15 babies, so I figured the other guinea hens were donating her eggs, when she got off the nest, they are all twins!!! But now they are safe, nothing can get into the hutch with the door closed, and daytime, I put up the screen so the have fresh air. Neighbor ask if I had enough apples, and with horses I told him, can never have too many, so picked up 5 sacks of apples, we also feed the deer so some will go that way, and the rabbits enjoy them too. Trying to get Lilly to eat one, she sure wants to, but would rather just suck on my hand....or try to eat the bread out of my pockets.

Yesterday was too busy to ride (I'd planned on riding Gracie a little). He brought the truck over around 5, went over some things about it. Can you believe it has a built in brake box? You just have to have brakes on your trailer, hook it up and go. It was so hard to just park it and go inside to fix supper. Mattie and I decided to go on a drink run up to our favorite gas station after feeding time, and I had to pinch myself to believe that that sweet-sounding diesel truck is mine, I've been waiting and looking at other people's trucks for so long. I kinda wanted to sleep in it last night, lol.
Oh, and Allie has definitely displaced Dee in the pecking order. It's not a solid move yet, but she's done it. And Dee doesn't give up her spot easily, she's kind of a tyrant. Allie sure did look smug about it though. Now Gracie has the target on her butt. Allie has been very clear about wanting top dog since she stepped foot on our place as a weanling. Uppity young-un.
Well, off to work. Hope you have a great wednesday.

Hope you had a good Labor Day weekend.
We had late fall weather today, very windy, rain on and off, and not very warm. We put a tarp over the dog kennel, then boards around the sides, to keep the wind off the mother guinea and her babies. Put feed all around her, so she can eat when she wants too, but every time I checked on her today, she was sitting on her nest, under the old wheelbarrow.
Went to Mom's today, instead of Sunday, my sisters/husbands all were there, (not everyone but 3 of them). They all went to see the parade in town...famous Hawkins Harvest Festival, then to play bingo and eat chicken.

Still cool, wet and rainy, plus a good wind with all of that.
I was pulling some of the plants in my prairie garden, to put around the guinea hen who picked this nasty weather to bring her babies into this world. These plants, and very bushy, and tall, so laying side ways I can make a nice wind break. So much of the tall grasses which were around her, went down, leaving one side all open.

So glad you didn't get any flooding from Harvey. The day after a hurricaine goes through always seems to be extra pretty, doesn't it?
How are the horses all doing? Are you still loving your customized barn panels? Have they behaved like you'd hoped in all the rain you've had this year?
