Congrats on HOTD!
Hi Ace, Congrats on HOTD and here's a vote for ya. Yep we're all getting old and breaking down, me the lawn tractor and the big tractor! LOL! Glad that Ace was good in his round pen work. Now maybe a ride tomorrow! Well did it get hot and humid today! The breeze kinda took a hike too! Honey and I got out early this morning for our walk. Got home and waited for Ingrid to here and play with Bullseye to see how donkeys react to different things and people. Of course my boy loves people and don't care about things. She brought a tarp with her to see what he'd do, he didn't even care! He got lots of peppermints from them. Then I turned the kids out, was about 82F degrees and still out there. Wood man came with my first two cords of wood! They ran a little in the pastures when the big truck was dumping it. Then settled down. Then Erin came from Grateful Doggies and got the 6 stacks of newspapers and the two big boxes of filled bones for the dogs! Finally broke for lunch at 4:30, but brought the horses in first, Indy as having a fit the flies were really getting to him. Tomorrow it's going to be even hotter, so they will probably be staying in for sure! Marion and the blondes.

Yay, Ace is in the spotlight today! Congratulations! Hope you get to have some celebratory horse time today.
Another sunny hot day yesterday. Finished cutting all the grass, ran an errand or two, cleaned out the kids' sink drain (it had quit draining), laundry and dishes and supper. Could've gotten in some groundwork with Allie or a quick ride on a QH, but felt very run down all day, so I didn't horse. I'm hoping to maybe get on Allie today and also start working on the shelter roof that blew off. My daughter informed me last night that she's in "desperate" need of a phone charger, lol, so I guess I'll be going downtown at some point too. Gotta coordinate going out around the college football traffic.
Well, hope you have a great saturday.

How're things? Any drier and any horse time? Sure hope so. We're plenty dry enough, I'm just too busy to ride, grrr. But the horses are all doing well. As long as they get food and love, they don't mind the time off. Heck, who wouldnt, right? Anyway, hope you have a great weekend.

Hi & a vote,
Wedding fever is going on with us and my son's wedding Sept. 30th!! They plan to go to Santorini for their honeymoon. Poor Rocky just has to stay on vacation unless I sneak a ride in somewhere. Blue will stay with my friend where Rocky is the rehearsal date and wedding day.

Brake line broke on the car, when we came home from the funeral the other day. Just got it back tonight, because the other side needed fixing too. Not a regular garage/repair shop, because he works at a factory too. But he is a good guy, I always bring him some fresh eggs too. Yesterday, I did not even get on HC, by the time I turned the computer on it was time to go to bed.

I feel like a little kid, who wants to still play outside long after dark. Been so nice these last few days, I take back all the "nasty" things I said about Mother Nature. Been picking apples from drying for the winter for horses, washing jars for making apple jelly, (figured I would wait until a rainy day to do it), still working on cleaning under the lean-to and hauling it to the flower bed I am making. Been finding lots of baby trees in the woods, so they begged me to take them home, and replant them....I swear I can hear them calling me, maybe the wood fairies!! Went to a garage sale today, lots of horse tack, like I needed more, but did get a few nice deals. Spent my allowance for the rest of the year. Moved the guinea pigs outside a few days ago, so they can enjoy the breeze and fresh air. Lots easier to clean the cages everyday too, the plastic bottom ones, I have to wash and dry them. Once they have to stay inside again, will use woodchips for them. Sadie and the kitten, Precious, and very much interested in them. Sadie will not hurt them, but Precious is such a naughty little girl. Grizzly and Smokey don't even bother them outside.

So glad you're finally having drier cooler weather. What a relief, huh? And yes, it'll be wonderful if you actually get to ride for a change.
That's good news about your family in TX and Fla being okay. Everybody I know who has family/friends in Tx, Fla, and Puerto Rico were all okay too, praise the Lord! Don't know how, but whoo-hoo!
They finally got the power line fixed yesterday afternoon. Every time the wind blew, the tree would sizzle and smoke, but thank God it never went up in flames. I'm sure the neighbors were excited, they had been almost 48 hrs without power. My daughter turned in to the grumpiest thing ever just cause ours was out an hour and a half while they did repairs, and then instant smiles and giggles when the power came back on. Oh brother! She admitted to being spoiled, lol.
I'm dying to ride, but I'm so covered up with chores, continuing ed for work, repairs from Irma, I may never see a saddle again. Ok, that's an exaggeration, but it feels like it. Grrrrr. Maybe if I drive the truck more often to make up for it, lol.
Well, hope you have a great thurs. Take care.

Come visit me, Allie & BJ and his mom Gracie.

Hi & a vote,
About the only thing I managed to accomplish this weekend was giving Blue a bath and clipping his nails, which he hates. Now he is ready to start Trick dog training class tomorrow. He is fluffy for now at least! My sister and niece were safe through Irma in Central FL, they only had some damage, like the gate broke off and debris is the yard. Lucky!

After a chilly wet start to the day, it turned into a beautiful day. Decided to move the guinea hen and her babies into the calf hutch, such a simple sentence, turned into to a long project. After removing all the things, like tarp, boards, and piles and piles of weeds, we finally got the rabbit cage inside the kennel, of course all the babies are out in the long grass and weeds next to the garden and the brush pile. Finally, she calmed down and most of the babies went into the cage, but then went out just as fast, the fit threw a 1/2 space. Last babies I manage to just catch and we got her into the hutch and I had counted 15 babies while rounding them up, but I knew that was not right, because she only had 15 eggs to start with, and found 4 dead ones half out of the shell, and threw out 6 other eggs, but I counted right 15 babies, so I figured the other guinea hens were donating her eggs, when she got off the nest, they are all twins!!! But now they are safe, nothing can get into the hutch with the door closed, and daytime, I put up the screen so the have fresh air. Neighbor ask if I had enough apples, and with horses I told him, can never have too many, so picked up 5 sacks of apples, we also feed the deer so some will go that way, and the rabbits enjoy them too. Trying to get Lilly to eat one, she sure wants to, but would rather just suck on my hand....or try to eat the bread out of my pockets.

Come visit me, Mistic, Willow & Whisper.

Hi & a vote,
No horse time until weekend, but that is nearly here! Last night almost got caught in a T-storm when walking dog. Came up quick as there were blue skies when I left. Lucky a neighbor driving by saw me and picked me and Blue up for a car ride home! SAVED! But, I missed the double-rainbow after the storm that my friend where Rocky lives saw!

Yesterday was too busy to ride (I'd planned on riding Gracie a little). He brought the truck over around 5, went over some things about it. Can you believe it has a built in brake box? You just have to have brakes on your trailer, hook it up and go. It was so hard to just park it and go inside to fix supper. Mattie and I decided to go on a drink run up to our favorite gas station after feeding time, and I had to pinch myself to believe that that sweet-sounding diesel truck is mine, I've been waiting and looking at other people's trucks for so long. I kinda wanted to sleep in it last night, lol.
Oh, and Allie has definitely displaced Dee in the pecking order. It's not a solid move yet, but she's done it. And Dee doesn't give up her spot easily, she's kind of a tyrant. Allie sure did look smug about it though. Now Gracie has the target on her butt. Allie has been very clear about wanting top dog since she stepped foot on our place as a weanling. Uppity young-un.
Well, off to work. Hope you have a great wednesday.

I did get two rides in on Rocky on Saturday evening and Monday evening over the long weekend, which was nice. We see some deer every time as that family is living in those back woods and fields. Sunday was the rainy day with the leftovers from Harvey moving through, but just rain all day and no other issues for our area.

Hope you had a good Labor Day weekend.
We had late fall weather today, very windy, rain on and off, and not very warm. We put a tarp over the dog kennel, then boards around the sides, to keep the wind off the mother guinea and her babies. Put feed all around her, so she can eat when she wants too, but every time I checked on her today, she was sitting on her nest, under the old wheelbarrow.
Went to Mom's today, instead of Sunday, my sisters/husbands all were there, (not everyone but 3 of them). They all went to see the parade in town...famous Hawkins Harvest Festival, then to play bingo and eat chicken.

Still cool, wet and rainy, plus a good wind with all of that.
I was pulling some of the plants in my prairie garden, to put around the guinea hen who picked this nasty weather to bring her babies into this world. These plants, and very bushy, and tall, so laying side ways I can make a nice wind break. So much of the tall grasses which were around her, went down, leaving one side all open.

So glad you didn't get any flooding from Harvey. The day after a hurricaine goes through always seems to be extra pretty, doesn't it?
How are the horses all doing? Are you still loving your customized barn panels? Have they behaved like you'd hoped in all the rain you've had this year?
We did get some good rain yesterday, yay; I'll have to check the gauge this am when the sun comes up. Depending on where that storm circles, we may or may not get more today.
Well, hope you have a great friday.

Hey! Sorry you're getting some rain from the hurricane, but I'm glad to hear it's not causing any flooding where you are :) I went and saw Koot on Saturday and took him to some different arenas and rode him on the street paths a little bit. I won't be going out until the weekend. It's been 100 since Monday and will be that way until the weekend so there's no point in driving out there when I can't do anything with him :( I think the heat wave is just this week though. Voted. I talked to my friend, Pam, in Cleveland, Tx. near Huston. She said, is bad. They opened up the barn where she is located to anything that needed shelter. I took care of her horses for her when she lived in Wisconsin. She just sold Snowfire, (who is a solid black bay) as a jumper in Florida for 6,000. I have pictures of that filly when she was here against the fall trees and she certainly is a beauty.

The weather is so nice here, that's it hard to believe the storms and flooding in TX. Prayers for those in Harvey's path.
Blue was at the nursing home with me both Saturday and Sunday afternoons doing his rounds and visiting my mother. Last evening was able to go on a ride on Rocky with my friend and her horse and our dogs. Blue was happy to be out at the farm. We saw six deer in the field since it was getting dark and was very dark by the time we got back to the barn!

Lots of people just want 3-4 guinea babies to bring different blood to what they have or like them so much want to add to their flock. Sold all 16 of them today. Made 128 dollars, but really had to work for that. Rained all they way there, got there no rain, as soon as we helped my sister put up her tent, down came the drops, and it rained all the time we were there. Getting up before 3, to make sure I was ready, 2 hr drive, I was tired, and slept until 1, woke up and I thought it was Sunday already...ha, I knew I was pooped, but not to sleep a whole day. House was cold, so went back to bed, and slept until time for Church. Good thing was came home to the incubator with little keets hatching out

Remembering Lollipop - 5 Years Today RIP~~~
Lay down, my friend, and close your sweet eyes…
…when next you awake, you’ll look down from blue skies.

Free from the pain, you will run in full stride,
with friends from the past and through fields far and wide.

With God as your master to take care of you,
every day up in heaven, you’ll feel love so true.

And all of the gifts that you gave me each day,
will come back to you as you frolic and play.

Then some day, my sweet love, I’ll see you once more,
as you greet me with nickers as you’ve done before.

So know that I love you and with me you’ll be,
in my heart every day as I dream of you free.

Came home late last night, long ride over 3 hours each way. My gray guinea hen yesterday decided to start nesting, so this morning, I slipped eggs under her. Usually they lay about 30 eggs, then decide to set. I have been taking them away, when she got a big build up of eggs, and now gave her fresh ones from the last 2-3 days.
Missed our Mass yesterday so went to 8 o'clock Mass in a different church this morning. Have to start cleaning house now, seems like I mess up more things getting ready to go someplace.

Sending you some "cool, wet, rainy, breezy weather" for you to enjoy. If it was not so cold, highs in the 40's, I surely could enjoy it more. Rained nearly all day, sometime a real down pour. Went to pick up the hot water heater at Menards today, about 100 miles one way and had to take lots of detours, for once I am glad. Found a 3pt hitch brush cutter for sale, and figured if we did not buy the water softener today, we would have enough to buy it....so to me a cleaner pasture is more important than hard water, which we have had for 30 yrs already a month or so, will not make much difference. Selling so much at the swap, really gave us some "wiggle room" on spending.
Coming back we stopped in Ladysmith to pick up milk, so I ran into St. Vinny or Goodwill, type of store called Connections. They had children's clothes for 25 cents and that was not a misprint. Brought about 20 items for Tristan and Maya new baby, all are nearly like new. Some are so cute. Did not pick many newborn items, because they outgrow them so fast. All and all, it was a good day, even if I did get soaked a few times. All I could think about was , now those weeds will come out easier.
