Thanks for visiting and voting! I know it's been a long time since I wrote in the blogs, but I'm here to catch up. Guess what? I found my own horse on Whinny Warz!! I've been playing that game for over a year, and suddenly, while I was playing this morning, THERE SHE WAS! Plus, I got 500 points for finding her.

I hope the new year has been good to you so far. I have lots of riding plans for once the weather improves, but for now, I'm just doing ground work and trick training. It's actually pretty fun.

I left you a vote, and have a horsey day!!

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS, “Deck the Stalls!”:
Q: Why did the elf push his bed into the fireplace?
A: He wanted to sleep like a log.

I guess every one already knows how Trigger came about living with us. He was given to my youngest brother, whom gave him to little Cowboy. When we got Trigger, he was in poor condition, worms, rainrot, no hair above his hooves because the mudd had pulled it all off & the worst case of thrush I have ever seen. We would visit him after school and work on improving his condition. At first he would run from us, eventually he began to accept my little Cowboy and not run from him. It was 1 month later, we brought him to our house for a few daily baths and treatments. He began to look and feel better. Trigger has a sweet horseinality, but he does not act like he has enjoyed many days just being loved on.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are having a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving. I hope you're enjoying lots of good food with your family and friends. We have much for which to be thankful. And we just ate our BIG meal and are stuffed!

I am lucky to have such great friends as you who love me even though I'm so bad about getting online and writing. I miss you and just wish I had more time to write. Sigh! Such is life…

I treasure your friendship and even though I'm not always around I think of you often. Thank you for being there for me!

I'm also very grateful to have another horse living with us now. Eddie's been here for 2 months now but he's so settled in it seems like we've had him forever. He and Pippin are great friends but with their size difference and their perky personalities I don't trust them to be alone together. So, Eddie has a smaller fenced in section of Pippin's big day pen and they spend lots of time right against each other with the fence in between. And yes, Pippin is boss!

We walk them together with the dogs and they drive their own carts. Eddie takes 2 steps while Pippin takes 20. They are adorable! And we keep stopping traffic! hehe

Happy Thanksgiving! And here's a vote on this special day.

Come visit me, Prince, Pippin (Remembering Melian) & Eddie.

I hope you gals and guys are saddling up Saturday and/or Sunday in support of our Veterans. People who give or gave their lives for others each day they served, when they really did not have to do so. Wow, what amazing people they are.

My granddad was in WWII and my oldest son has served in the Afghanistan wars, working on communications devices. I have one cousin serving in the navy, that was injured during the attack against the United States Navy destroyer USS Cole on October 12, 2000.

We all are affected by the military in some way.

Well, it looks like our HorseChannel Ride to Remember Veterans on November 11, 2012 is going to be a success. I can not wait to see the photos. I think it is fine if you can not ride and you do some other horse related activity, grooming, or what ever! The main thing is to honor our vets while we do something that we truly enjoy!

November is a time of thanks. Thanks should be part of our every day lives all year long. Let us be thankful for our friends and loved ones. Let us be kind one to another. Cruelty has no place among friends.

No ride today, it was very chilly and windy :(

Does anyone remember reading last month, about a nationwide Ride to Remember Veterans during Veteran's Day weekend, Nov. 10-11, 2012? How would you guys like to have our own HorseChannel ride in honor of Veteran's Day? We can chose one day that we all will ride on, even if it is only for a few minutes or just to sit on the horse during the Veteran's holiday. Then we could share our pics from that day and share our story of the day. If you agree would Sunday November the 11 be ok for our ride date?

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were very busy days for me! I have been working with Fancy ground driving. Cowboy rides Trigger while I ground drive Fancy. Sunday, after church, we used the pool noodles in place of the cart shafts. Each day ground driving gets better! Fancy loves to keep moving, so we are working on her patience. We did get some great video that I hope to share with you in a few weeks.
The winds have been up all day and it is beginning to rain here right now. I did watch the news, this storm looks very serious. If you are affected by storm Sandra, be wise and stay safe. We love you♥

Hi Hannah and Sunshine!!

I BELIEVE.....The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.
Psalm 93:3-5

We are having steady rain and strong winds, but nothing out of the ordinary yet. My prayers are with all those that are getting hit worse.

On Saturday (Caturday!) I rode for 3 hours with 6 other girls. It was so beautiful, the ground was a carpet of gold and red!! We cantered for long stretches at a time, it was just amazing!!

Sunday I was lazy, went to church in the evening. It was miserable all day, so I didn't ride at all, but probably wouldn't have anyway since Sweet Pea was so good for me on Saturday! She hardly pulled at all, and at one point, we were cantering behind the others, and I had the reins "at the buckle", really slack and she stayed steady!!! I was pleasantly surprised.

☆ Remember to pray for Hailey's freind Ginny, she was driving her horse and the cart flipped and she broke her neck.

☆ vote Maria and Dakota HOTM!! And help BLAZZE get 600 votes for her "HOTM".
Also, vote Laura and Tex HOTM.

☆ Vote Jasmine (#240407) for HOTD.

☆ My grandpa is still not feeling very great. The doctors said that they could try not doing the treatments so often, and then he wouldn't be so sick, but they'd have to stay longer. Pray that they have wisdom to make the right decision!!

Love you all,

We have plans of riding today, but I am not feeling up to a trip across town just yet because it is cool and gray outside. I guess if we were going, we should have left by now. LOL. It suits me just fine to stay home today. Oh, our annual Pig Festival is today also. Don't think I'll make that either. LOL! Bad me! I DO feel like spending time with Fancy at home though.

HISTORY OF THE GYPSY VANNER (REQUESTED BY SWEET PEA)

The Gypsy Vanner, Gypsy Horse, Gypsy Cob, Irish Cob, Tinker Travelers Horse and various other names are all used to describe this amazing horse. However, the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society established the first registry to give the horses a name and an organization to track the closely guarded, original bloodlines, of the Romany Gypsy breeders. The name of the Registry was carefully selected not only to identify the people that created this magical breed, but to acknowledge the horse’s history as well. The Gypsy Vanner Horse must possess a certain look and meet a clear conformation standard, ensuring that we may reproduce the same quality horse that the first Romany Gypsy breeders dreamed of.
For hundreds of years the nomadic people known as gypsies have traveled the roads of Europe and the United Kingdom in beautiful decorated living wagons. To maintain this wandering way of life, they created an extraordinary breed of horse. It had to have enough endurance and strength to pull the heavy family wagon, the ability to subsist on whatever grazing could be found along the side of the road and an extremely calm, willing temperament. The result , after hundreds of years of selective breeding , is a beautiful, powerful and supremely gentle Gypsy Vanner Horse.

We had snow yesterday! It snowed almost all morning but melted as soon as it hit the ground.Sierra got a pretty bad cut on her hind leg and it swelled up quite a bit. I didnt do very much with the horses yesterday because it was a very cold and blustery day. Poor Dakota is without a shed( he has been without one ever since his old one got wrecked by the toronado).Thankfully my dad ordered him a new shed and it should be delivered by next week sometime. Dakota is a tough little guy but I know he will enjoy having a shed again.

Question of the day: Have you ever had to go to the hospital or get stitches for a horse related injury?

This is the second time I have had to get stitches for an injury caused by a horse. The first time was when Dakota bucked me off on the driveway and a really sharp rock made a deep gash on my nose.

Have a horsy day and once again thank you all so much for all the votes and support!

They are loved and revered as dynamite performers in Morgan shows across the country, and as loyal, sensible mounts on America's beautiful trails and pathways; they are treasured by mounted police squads and therapeutic riding programs for their intelligence, soundness, and gentleness; they are winning awards in driving, dressage, reining and cutting competitions against horses bred specifically for these jobs; and no matter what they may be doing or the tack they wear, knowledgeable horsemen see them and know, 'That's a Morgan!'
A bit of the hard-working, determined Morgan legend is with us whenever a Morgan carries a saddle-weary cowhand down a Montana mountain, pulls a carriage around a grueling obstacle course in record time, quietly carries children along a wooded path, or flashes around show rings with a style that causes spectators to cheer. The Morgan, our country's first breed of light horse, is as much a part of America today as it was two centuries ago.'
The Morgan legend has also spread around the world. Morgan owners and dubs can be found in Canada, England, Germany, Italy, France, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South America. The beauty, intelligence, and willing personality of the Morgan will win you over too!

Yesterday I was leading Sierra around outside of her pasture, when all of a sudden my aunt started up the lawn mower nearby. Sierra reared and as she was coming down her hoof hit my forehead. It didnt hurt very much so I didnt think very much about it, until I saw blood dripping down onto my jacket. I cleaned it up and put a bandaid on it and thought it was fine. Later my mom saw that I had a bandaid on my forehead, and asked me to take it off so she could see what happened. She took one look at it and said, you are getting stitches. By then the docters office was already closed so we had to go to the emergency room. Needless to say it was not a very enjoyable experience. Sierra has been around lawn mowers all summer, and has never gotten too spooked about them so I'm not sure what got into her. Well this blog is getting a bit too long so I dont think I will have a question today. Tommorow I will either be blogging on Friesans or Gypsy Vanners.

Have a good one, and dont forget to vote for Dakota so that he can be your HOTM!

Sunday my youngest brother got himself a QH mare named Goldie. Since my brothers are twins, I will let Goldie share the page with Buttercup. I forgot how old Goldie is. She was previously owned and ridden by one of my brother's friends.

Today we worked out in the yard raking leaves and cutting a tree. It felt like spring here. After school Little Cowboy rode Trigger while I groomed Fancy and practiced on the things we are learning for showmanship. Today Fancy did her pivot on the right hind without me touching her!

I am quite surprised to have two invitations to ride in Christmas parades out of town this coming Christmas season. I may not get to ride in them. Both are at night. I do not like hauling the horses at night without another adult with me. But I never know when I will get brave and surprise myself.
Are you planning to ride in any holiday parades this Winter?

Have a peaceful night ✞

HISTORY OF THE MORGAN( REQUESTED BY KOKO)

In the coming years, the offspring of these strong, willing, able light horses grew along with the young nation that was building itself upon hard work and determination. In the hands of American colonists, Morgans cleared rugged Vermont mountainsides and converted them into rich farmland. But they weren't mere workhorses, Morgans had the style and elegance to capture the admiration of any city horseman. While some Morgans earned their keep on the farm others were in high demand to become smart roadsters for Boston and New York financiers. When harness racing reached its heyday in the 1800s, the World's Fastest Trotting Stallion was Ethan Allen 50, old Justin's handsome great-grandson.
As America grew so did the feats of the Morgan. New England men answered the call of gold and headed for California on Morgans. In the Civil War, the famed Vermont Cavalry was mounted on Morgan horses. Not only did the Union's General Sheridan ride his Morgan Rienzi, Stonewall Jackson rode his Morgan, 'Little Sorrel,' for the Confederacy as well! In the Indian Wars, the only survivor in the Battle of the little Big Horn was Keogh's Morgan-bred horse Comanche. If the pathways of history are paved with the bones of the
horse, surely America's are paved by Morgans.

Question of the day: Do you blanket your horses during the wintertime?
I have never blanketed my horses and probably never will, but I know it makes a different if your horses are clipped.

Well, my goal for Dakota was to get 600 votes during the month of October, and thanks to you and all my other wonderfull HC friends he has already exceded his goal. I am hoping to see the big number 1,000 soon but I need your help so please come vote for my little guy!
Thanks so much for all your support!

Hello Hannah and Sunshine, here's a vote for you!!! The clinic was great! For those of you who don't know: my friend's older brother (Respeto Horsemanship) had a horsemanship clinic on Saturday. He mostly did ground-work with a 3 yo sorrel gelding that hadn't been worked with very much. He used a carrot stick, like the Parelli's. It was mostly stuff that I knew already, but it was still very interesting watching it "for real". He mostly got him used to the stick, then moving away from pressure and stopping and standing still. Then, after lunch, he worked with the saddle, and actually sat on him a couple times!! That was really neat.

I actually learned the most from watching everybody getting their horses groomed and saddled up for the trail ride afterwards. :~) One of my pet peeves is when horses don't respect their owners. So many of the horses didn't: they would move while the rider was still getting on, they would "drag" their handler over to the grass, they would "push and shove". It was an experience that made me realize how important R-E-S-P-E-C-T is!!! One lady was getting her (large) Paint out of the trailer. "Oh, he paws terribly." and "he needs to learn some manners", was what she said. Well, then teach him manners!! Teach them respect for their handlers.
Well, that's what I learned :~) Sorry, I didn't get any pictures. And I didn't get to go on the trail ride afterwards after all.

After I came home, I was "in the mood". I got Sweet Pea out and did some groundwork; ground-tying, lowering her head, moving away from pressure, and leading respectfully.
Then (with the Western) I took her out on a short ride, about an hour, but mostly walking and jogging.
On the field lane, I decided I'm going to try cantering. Well, the first time didn't go so well, but the next time I shortened my reins slightly, and went into a comfortable trot, like I was going to trot all day. Then, I quietly sent her into a canter. We cantered nicely for about 10 strides, then I pulled her up again. I think that's what we'll have to do, and work up until I can get her to canter for longer periods.
Then, she was getting really hyper (it was where we usually gallop) so I made her stop, and I took my feet out of the stirrups and just made her stand there for really long, then when I told her to go again, she was perfectly calm. I have to remember to do that!!

On Sunday, my dad's side of the family went on a hayride, then hiked and ate supper. The fall colors were so beautiful!!

Well, that was my weekend. How was yours? I hope it was great!!

Love from

Are there any Halloween activities going in your area that welcome horses? I am not aware of any here, but I am sure there has to be some going on for the children and horses, at some of the local barns.

Hi! Did you have a busy, fun weekend? What have you been up to?

I have been on the move, but I enjoyed it! Saturday morning, Fancy participated in her first parade! It was a really big homecoming parade, with lots of tight crowds and loud bands! Fancy was excited for the first 15 to 20 minutes, but after that she was very relaxed and was not bothered by bouncing children on the sidelines. In past years, I have ridden my previous horses in this parade, but I never got to participate in the tradition of riding around the football field before the game. I could not get my past horses onto the football field because they were afraid. Well yesterday, I did for the first time, ride around the football field, with my Fancy! Fancy even took the lead and she did that running walk at least half way around! It was so much fun! I will never forget the first time I got to ride around the football field!!!!! Oh, and to boot, the home team won their game!!!!!! I would like to believe Fancy gave them good luck when she went around the field. LOL!
Half way through the day all I could think of was how this has to be my best day ever with Fancy. And then I think to myself, I have had so many days that I thought were my best day ever with Fancy! Saturday morning, I lost my keys on the way out of town. The keys fell off the side of the trailer or the truck. But I found them completely mangled on the side of a busy street after 6 hours of being run over in heavy traffic. Even though I had the lost key problem, I still had that feeling of this being the best day ever!

Saturday night, our family attended our horseshow end of year banquet. This was our first time attending and I had no idea what to expect. So, I did not take my camera and I was very surprised to see Little Cowboy & Trigger won a good bit of awards. Little Cowboy was so excited to share the awards with Trigger, they used their new snaffle bit and new grooming kit tonight. He is going to save his new blanket for next years show season. Little Cowboy rode until dark, and I did get a few pictures tonight before it got too dark.

Have a beautiful Autumn day ✞

HISTORY OF THE MORGAN( REQUESTED BY KOKO)

Over the next 30 years, the little bay stallion worked long, hard hours in the fields and on the roads of Vermont. Gradually, the local population began to talk about the feats of "the Justin Morgan horse". Standing just over 14 hands tall, Justin Morgan's exploits gained him fame because he was not as big as colonial workhorses nor as tall and long-legged as racehorses, yet he consistently outperformed both. There was the time he pulled a log no draft horse could budge, the day only he had the beauty, spirit and manners to carry President James Monroe on a muster-day parade ground; and the time he outran the most winning racehorse central Vermont had ever known, at least until that day.
Doing it all and doing it well, Justin Morgan remained sound of eye, wind, and limb throughout a lifetime of two ordinary horses. That should have been enough, but the stallion added still more: showy, ground-covering gaits with speed to spare at any one of them; a gentle disposition that made him safe enough for a child to handle yet spirited enough for any horseman, beauty men would to recall decades after his death; and a rare courage that made men who lost bets on him hit their flagons of rum and say, 'To the little Morgan!' and drink deeply.

Hi, how was your weekend? I had a pretty good weekend, a bit dreary though. We finally got some rain, not very much, but enough to at least wet the dust down. Of course when the ground gets a little bit muddy the horses have to roll, so I got them all brushed out. Thankfully Sierra doesn't roll very often yet.

Question of the day: If it is raining outside, would your horse rather stay out in the pasture or come into the barn?
Misty doesn't usually mind being out in the rain, but Sierra is a bit of a weenie and will run to her shed if she feels a few drops of rain. Dakota will usually stay out in his pasture unless it is really storming.

Have a great Sunday and dont forget to vote Dakota for your Nov. HOTM!

The Morgan Horse - An American Legend
Justin Morgan was a living legend. In the manner of so many heroes, he began as an unremarkable colt and became the father of an entire breed of horses recognized for quality and dependability.
Born in 1789, Justin Morgan started life as a small, rough-coated colt known as "Figure." In 1791, he left his birthplace in Springfield, Massachusetts with his new owner, the soft-spoken schoolteacher Justin Morgan, by whose name the stallion eventually became known. Although his breeding was unknown (thought to be of Dutch, Thoroughbred, or Arabian breeding), the quality of Justin Morgan's ancestry showed in his straight clean legs; deep muscling over his quarters and shoulders; and fine, intelligent head with large expressive eyes and short, pricked ears. Add to these the quality of his movement, a thick but silky mane and tail, and a clean-cut throatlatch, and you have the conformation of the ideal light horse. Despite these fine qualities, Justin Morgan's lack of size was such that his debt-ridden owner found no buyers on their journey north to Randolph Center, Vermont. It was simply fate that no one but, his new owner realized what a little giant he was.

Question of the day: When buying a horse, how important is color?
Color really isn't really a factor for me, I care more about the horse's personality, however I do really like paints.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend, and once again thanks a million for all your support!

Continued history of the Canadian horse:

The Canadian breed became renowned for its abilities as a roadster, racer and stylish harness horse. By 1820, classes for Canadian Horses were being held at agricultural exhibitions in Lower Canada and in New York. Over the next decades, increasing numbers of Canadian horses, including the best stallions, were sold to the United States. Many found their way into the foundation stock of other breeds such as the Morgan, Tennessee Walker, American Saddlebred and Standardbred.
With the outbreak of the U.S. Civil War in 1861, Canadian Horses once again were used for miltary service when thousands were exported to supply the Union Army. By the end of the war in 1865, at least 30,000 Canadian Horses had been exported for military service.
Later, in 1874, Canadian Horses took part in the historic North West Mounted Police Great March West, in the Northwest Rebellion of 1885 and are even said to have served in the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Canadian Horses sent to serve in the Boer War in South Africa did so well that hundreds were subsequently purchased for the British Imperial forces and shipped overseas. During World War I, more Canadian Horses were shipped off to battle in France, never to return.
Ironically, the popularity and availability of the Canadian Horse almost caused its demise as a distinct breed.

Yesterday I rode Misty and ponied Sierra. They both did pretty good, considering I dont do it with them very often. Sometimes Sierra tends to get a bit rowdy when I am ponying her, but yesterday she was very well behaved. It is still pretty chilly out but at least the wind has died down.

Question of the day: If you were looking to buy another horse, would you rather buy a foal and train it from the begining, or buy a full grown horse that isnt trained quite the way you would like it to be?

Have a great weekend everyone and tommorow I will be blogging on Morgans!
