HI!
Wonderful to have new friend on here! My name is Cindy and I'm not always on here but I do try to respond to everyone I can as time allows.
I'm a Christian too and proud of it! God has been so good to me in my life-I had childhood cancer and was supposed to die-long, but good story! I'll tell it when I have time if you'd like to hear. I was so ashamed of it at first because I wanted to be "normal" (was 8 yrs old) but now I'll tell everyone that's interested. Thanks for the prayers and yes my daughter is doing better. We'll talk soon :)

Come visit me, Ella Bee & My Thirty Six.

Continued history of the Canadian horse:

The Canadian breed became renowned for its abilities as a roadster, racer and stylish harness horse. By 1820, classes for Canadian Horses were being held at agricultural exhibitions in Lower Canada and in New York. Over the next decades, increasing numbers of Canadian horses, including the best stallions, were sold to the United States. Many found their way into the foundation stock of other breeds such as the Morgan, Tennessee Walker, American Saddlebred and Standardbred.
With the outbreak of the U.S. Civil War in 1861, Canadian Horses once again were used for miltary service when thousands were exported to supply the Union Army. By the end of the war in 1865, at least 30,000 Canadian Horses had been exported for military service.
Later, in 1874, Canadian Horses took part in the historic North West Mounted Police Great March West, in the Northwest Rebellion of 1885 and are even said to have served in the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Canadian Horses sent to serve in the Boer War in South Africa did so well that hundreds were subsequently purchased for the British Imperial forces and shipped overseas. During World War I, more Canadian Horses were shipped off to battle in France, never to return.
Ironically, the popularity and availability of the Canadian Horse almost caused its demise as a distinct breed.

Yesterday I rode Misty and ponied Sierra. They both did pretty good, considering I dont do it with them very often. Sometimes Sierra tends to get a bit rowdy when I am ponying her, but yesterday she was very well behaved. It is still pretty chilly out but at least the wind has died down.

Question of the day: If you were looking to buy another horse, would you rather buy a foal and train it from the begining, or buy a full grown horse that isnt trained quite the way you would like it to be?

Have a great weekend everyone and tommorow I will be blogging on Morgans!

Week two of the HOTM run, Woohoo!

Question of the day: Has your horse ever been in a near death situation and lived to tell about it? ( or rather whinnny about it)

A long time ago when my fencer wasnt working Dakota used to break out of his fence all the time, and several times ran down the middle of a busy tar road near our place, but never got hit. Another time he was inside his 3-sided shed when a tornado picked it up and completely demolished it, and somehow never got a scratch.
If your horse has ever been in a near death situation, I would love to hear about it!
Thanks for all the support!

HISTORY OF THE WELSH COB, SECTION D, CONTINUED
The Welsh Cob is a strong, general purpose animal with free forceful movement. He should show great quality and have as much substance as possible without being coarse. Welsh Cobs have spirit and inner fire, however this is tempered by a gentle, kindly disposition and a willingness to obey. These attributes, combined their stamina and proud, aristocratic bearing make them the natural choice of many discriminating horsemen of all ages. The Welsh Cob made an outstanding contribution to man; both in war and in peace. During 1845, Henry Tudor ascended the throne of England due to the efforts of the Welsh Cob militia mounted on their swift and hardy Welsh Cobs.Up until 40 or 50 years ago the Welsh Cobs was so valuable to the British war office that premiums were payed to the best stallions. The War Office used Welsh Cobs for the mounted infantry and for pulling heavy guns and equipment through rugged, mountainous terrain noy easily surmounted by motorized vehicles. The Morgan horse almost certainy owes his origin to the Welsh Cobs left behind in America by the British Cavalry at the end of the 18th century. In peacetime, prior to the advent of motorised vehicles, the Welsh Cob proved to be the quickest, most reliable transport for docters and businessmen. Recent importations from Great Britain have sparked an active interest in these animals across North America. As did their ancestors, the modern day Welsh Cob and Welsh Pony of Cob Type truly personify the words of the motto on the Welsh Coat of Arms-Ich Dien-"I Serve". THIS IS PROBABLY THE LAST BLOG I WILL BE DOING ON WELSH PONIES AND COBS, I HOPE YOU HAVE ENJOYED THEM! I WILL HAVE A QUESTION OF THE DAY FOR YOU GUYS TOMMOROW, THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE SUPPORT! PS. IF YOU HAVE A FAVORITE BREED YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO DO A COUPLE BLOGS ON, LET ME KNOW AND I WILL SEE WHAT I CAN DO. ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND EVERYONE! MARIA, DAKOTA N THE GIRLS

WELSH PONY SECTION B
The general description of the Welsh pony section b can be described simply as a larger version of the Welsh Mountain pony section A, with greater emphasis on on riding pony action and ability, while retaining true Welsh type. The Welsh Section B has been selectively bred from the Welsh Mountain pony, and is generally taller and lighter in build. First bred to meet the demand of a larger riding type for Welsh hill farmers; Who needed a means of transport for shepherding across the hills, cattle herding, and rounding up wild mountain ponies. Their uses even extended to riding to stock fairs and taking part in pony races. It is thought that infusions of Thoroughbred and Hackney blood were used to create this type. In 1911, it was decided to ban Hackney bloodlines from registering into the stud book; There had been several incidences of pure Hackneys competing and winning at National Welsh pony shows. The Welsh Section B has excellent riding pony qualities, combined with good temperament and natural athletic jumping ability. They make an ideal choice of pony for the competitive child to excel in any sphere: from jumping, endurance to driving, as well as being able to hold their own among top class riding ponies in the show ring. PLEASE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT MY WELSH MOUNTAIN PONY DAKOTA DURING HIS NOV. HOTM RUN, AND ONCE AGAIN A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU THAT ARE ALREADY SUPPORTING HIM! LEAVING VOTES FOR EVERYONE!
