After not having time to ride for 5 days, I FINALLY got to ride Misty today. She was so full of energy, by the time I got done riding her she was actually sweating and it was only around 10 degrees out! During the summer time she is very laid back but for some reason once it is cold out she gets pretty wild. Anyways, it felt great to ride again even if Misty didnt want to do anything besides run.
I hope you all had a great Christmas! I finally got my own camera and several other things that I wanted pretty bad. I am glad Christmas is over because it sure cut back on my horsey time, Dakota and Scout were starting to feel neglected! I will probably ride one or both of them tommorow.

Ok I'd like to tell everyone that I am sorry that I haven't been on as much. I was planning on getting on every weekend but then Joy's cancer came back and life got super busy.
Joy is doing good. She is home until the Wednesday after Thanksgiving and then she will be going back to the hospital for more chemo. Hopefully, she'll be home for Christmas. After Christmas she is gonna have her bone marrow transplant and then we will move up back by the hopsital. Joy is doing good. She is running around and being full of trouble.
The horses are doing pretty good. Sugar and Ransom seem to be doing better with each other. They don't really pick fights with each other anymore and they seem to enjoy each others company. However, they don't like the donkeys we got.
We got some donkeys (two of them a jenny and her foal) last Saturday. The mama's name is Angela and the foal's name is Elva. They are both settling into life here very well. I'm gonna to make a profile on here for them.

Hi Magic I posted more pictures of BLAZZE,Buttermilk and Dusk but allot just a few. But Buttermilk was good last night when I rode him he staid at a canter until Harry went off.( a horse at Jackson's barn)so that spoiled that so I put Buttermilk back and then fed everybody and went to the house to eat dinner!

HISTORY OF THE MORGAN( REQUESTED BY KOKO)
In the coming years, the offspring of these strong, willing, able light horses grew along with the young nation that was building itself upon hard work and determination. In the hands of American colonists, Morgans cleared rugged Vermont mountainsides and converted them into rich farmland. But they weren't mere workhorses, Morgans had the style and elegance to capture the admiration of any city horseman. While some Morgans earned their keep on the farm others were in high demand to become smart roadsters for Boston and New York financiers. When harness racing reached its heyday in the 1800s, the World's Fastest Trotting Stallion was Ethan Allen 50, old Justin's handsome great-grandson.
As America grew so did the feats of the Morgan. New England men answered the call of gold and headed for California on Morgans. In the Civil War, the famed Vermont Cavalry was mounted on Morgan horses. Not only did the Union's General Sheridan ride his Morgan Rienzi, Stonewall Jackson rode his Morgan, 'Little Sorrel,' for the Confederacy as well! In the Indian Wars, the only survivor in the Battle of the little Big Horn was Keogh's Morgan-bred horse Comanche. If the pathways of history are paved with the bones of the
horse, surely America's are paved by Morgans.

I have never blanketed my horses and probably never will, but I know it makes a different if your horses are clipped.

I contacted the store where I purchased Fancy's boa boots. They could ship them to the company for repair and I would have to pay shipping and repair cost. I chose to use the services of our local leather repair shop. He gave them a looking over and saw that the stitching came undone. He glued them, stitched them right up, and it barely cost a thing. If they come undone again, I will consider other options.

Yeasterday morning we had snow!But it soon melted and it snowed last night too but none stayed. Tonight I lunged and saddle all 3 of my horses, Next step, RIDING! I may be getting a wonderful fjord mare, gotta work on my dad though, I think at my time and health(leg) barrel racing is too risky, but Vanti is a dressage horse shes amazing! Gotta work on my dad tho, Haha! Hope you all had a good Wednesday, we had PJ day at school! Texas was lookin' at me after school like ''What?'' You look amess LOL. That horse make's me giggle. Vanti is 14.3hh and gorgeous. But somone has contacted me who has a 3 1/2 yr old, Fjord gelding for 2500 and has 1 month riding on it for 2500 named Bill, I'll make a profile for Vanti to see if you like her, I do! Brrr, it was cold and windy again yesterday, but this morning it looks like the wind finally died down. Yesterday I didnt do any riding, I just did some groundwork with Sierra.I have been teaching her to back out my space by wiggling the leadrope, and she is getting pretty good at it, except I cant seem to get her to back up straight. When I wiggle the leadrope she pulls her head to the side and backs up sideways.I have tried bumping her head back around every time she pulls it away, but then as soon as I ask her to back up, she just pulls it away again. Does anyone have any tips for me on how to get her to back up straight? If you do, they would be much appreciated.
Question of the day: How often do you ride your horse, and for how long?
I ussually ride every other day, and for about an hour and a half at a time.(Of course this varies)

Nice day eh? lol
Hey guys, how did your Monday go?
It finally warmed up a little, but its still windy. Yesterday I rode both Misty and Dakota, they where full of pep and lots of fun to ride. While I was riding Dakota some beef calves got out, so we chased them in, and later while I was riding Misty, the Holstein steers got out so we chased them in too, wich was a lot of fun, the horses and I get a kick out of chasing those little rascals.
I also did some ground work with Sierra.
Question of the day: If you had the chance to spend a day with a famous horseman or horsewoman of your choice, who would you choose and why?
I would probably choose Clinton Anderson, as his method seems to be very effective.

Week two of the HOTM run, Woohoo!
Question of the day: Has your horse ever been in a near death situation and lived to tell about it? ( or rather whinnny about it)
A long time ago when my fencer wasnt working Dakota used to break out of his fence all the time, and several times ran down the middle of a busy tar road near our place, but never got hit. Another time he was inside his 3-sided shed when a tornado picked it up and completely demolished it, and somehow never got a scratch.
If your horse has ever been in a near death situation, I would love to hear about it!

I gave her extra treat's while I was out with them, She's really came along far since we bought her. When we bought MISTY, she would buck, not except the bit, hard to catch, Act a real MARE, and Run the barrel pattern OK! Now she's not bHey everyone. HISTORY OF THE WELSH COB, SECTION D, CONTINUED
The Welsh Cob is a strong, general purpose animal with free forceful movement. He should show great quality and have as much substance as possible without being coarse. Welsh Cobs have spirit and inner fire, however this is tempered by a gentle, kindly disposition and a willingness to obey. These attributes, combined their stamina and proud, aristocratic bearing make them the natural choice of many discriminating horsemen of all ages. The Welsh Cob made an outstanding contribution to man; both in war and in peace. During 1845, Henry Tudor ascended the throne of England due to the efforts of the Welsh Cob militia mounted on their swift and hardy Welsh Cobs.Up until 40 or 50 years ago the Welsh Cobs was so valuable to the British war office that premiums were payed to the best stallions.The War Office used Welsh Cobs for the mounted infantry and for pulling heavy guns and equipment through rugged, mountainous terrain noy easily surmounted by motorized vehicles. The Morgan horse almost certainy owes his origin to the Welsh Cobs left behind in America by the British Cavalry at the end of the 18th century. In peacetime, prior to the advent of motorised vehicles, the Welsh Cob proved to be the quickest, most reliable transport for docters and businessmen. Recent importations from Great Britain have sparked an active interest in these animals across North America. As did their ancestors, the modern day Welsh Cob and Welsh Pony of Cob Type truly personify the words of the motto on the Welsh Coat of Arms-Ich Dien-"I Serve". HISTORY OF THE WELSH COB, SECTION D
A Section C is a Welsh Mountain Pony of Cob Type, and Section D is the Welsh Cob. The main difference between the two is size. The Welsh Pony of Cob Type resulted from a crossbreeding between the Welah Mountain Pony and the Welsh Cob.The Welsh Cob was probably the result of a crossbreeding between the Welsh Mountain Pony and the horses brought by the Romans to Britain. Welsh ponies have run wild on the hills, valleys and mountains of Wales for centuries;over the years the Welsh ponies developed into several different types. Farmers and shepherds who needed a fast mount that could easily traverse the the rough terrain favouredthe larger ponies, the smaller ponies were used extensively in the coalmines in the 19yh and 20th centuries. In the aftermath of the industrial revolution, th Welsh Cob was a popular form of transport for those who had to travel for business. From there a whole industry emerged, with trotting races a popular method of selecting the best bloodlines when breeding ponies for transport. In South Wales, a 35 mile uphill route was used, many ponies would complete the race in under 3 hours. Aptly described as "the best ride and drive animal in the world", the Welsh Cob has evolved throughout many centuries for his courage, tractability and powers of endurance. The general character is the embodiment of strength, hardiness and agility. The head shows great quality with pony character: bold prominent eyes, a broad forehead and neat, wellset ears. The body must be deep, on strong limbs with "hard wearing" joints and an abundance of flat bone. Action must be straight, free and forceful, the knees should be bent and then the whole foreleg extended from the shoulders as far as possiblein all places, with the hocks well flexed, producing powerful leverage. The Welsh Cob is a good hunter and a most competent performer in all competitive sports. In recent years they have had great success in the international driving world.
