Type of Riding: Western we've done very light riding in the round pen for training. Working on that solid foundation his vertical and lateral flexes are great. He rounds out nice carries the bit great. Has been completely covered from the toe up in tarps with th wy wind blowing. Nothing has yet to spook him. Ive dribbled basketballs around while riding him he has been down for all my silly antics he is very trusting and truly enjoys our playful training sessions

My Horse's Achievements: Remington makes me proud everyday he is so willing and smart. He is such a fast learner :)

My Horse's Favorite Treat: Apples

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: Our morning jogs he also loves to chase around bedbug the mustang mare trying to play with her she however does not enjoy his antics and usually sends him back to his buddy Badger rather ferociously Lol. Hes the baby in the herd and loves to pester everyone.

Pet Peeves: Goats

My Horse's motto: If the world was truly a rational place men would ride side saddle.

How We Met

He was family bred my aunt Julie gave him to me as a yearling. He hadn't had anything done with him at all my aunt knew I had the patience drive and skill to tame this large yearling ( the vet estimated he was already 1100 pounds as a yearling thought he was a four year old!) He is only a year old in his profile pic! He will be a very big horse :) I had Remington halter broke that first day. He is extremely smart he only needs shown something once and hes got it! He is my golden child :) his mother sundown is a one-man horse (my aunt Julie) and Remington is taking after her. He is such a doll for me and my kids especially my 2 year old son chase (they are only 4 days apart in age) Remington is the only horse chase wants to ride. My remmy he says. Remingtons naughty side comes out around other people though. Like I said tho hes a smart horse and he knows who his family is! Couldn't ask for anything else..

Thanks for visiting and voting! I know it's been a long time since I wrote in the blogs, but I'm here to catch up. Guess what? I found my own horse on Whinny Warz!! I've been playing that game for over a year, and suddenly, while I was playing this morning, THERE SHE WAS! Plus, I got 500 points for finding her.

I hope the new year has been good to you so far. I have lots of riding plans for once the weather improves, but for now, I'm just doing ground work and trick training. It's actually pretty fun.

I left you a vote, and have a horsey day!!

Nice avatar!
Hey, how is your weekend going so far? This morning I rode Misty and she behaved pretty good. Sierra's leg is doing a lot better, before if she would try to go any faster than a walk she would start limping. Now she is tearing around the pasture and doing her ussual antics and she's not favoring her leg at all. Early this morning we had some snow and Dakota looked so cute with it stuck on his whiskers and eyelashes. Thank you so much for Dakota's HOTM, he's lovin it!

Please remember to vote for Dec. HOTM runners Ziggy#228743, Logan#238276 and Cutter#204902.
I'm leaving a vote and I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Good Morning! It’s Caturday!!

I rode after work Thursday evening; it was such a nice afternoon! I rode yesterday with my friend Gail. We went to Reynolds Creek at Lake Waco. I haven’t ridden there in over a year. We had such a good ride. There was an association camping the weekend (Tetra) so there were a lot of horses around! Then on the other side of Reynolds creek they call it Lacy Point. The Marines were on that side for the weekend doing different maneuvers and skill test! Of course they are dressed in camouflage. Our horses would watch them moving around –I bet the horse thought “moving walking bushes-what’s that!”

Have a great weekend!!!

Nice to meet both of you.
My friend, Dale, came over and rode Sadie Thursday. He's got a lot of experience. Such a blessing to have friends with horse experience who like to come out to ride. Sadie was so good. She did everything he asked her to. She kept those ears forward and seemed to love it. My liability sign is posted, too. Hugs and a vote.

Welcome to HC!
Thanks for stopping by! Remmy you are so beautiful and sounds like you are very playful. It also sounds like your training is going very well-very proud!!

Cantering by to click your horseshoe! All my horses are doing well for now thank goodness!

Off work tomorrow so I will be back on Saturday which reminds me: on my Facebook I clicked like to “And my cat” and they call Saturday-“Caturday” and I love that! It is so cute to say to everyone Happy Caturday!!! They put on a cat of the day each day and it is always so cute. Of course I know not everyone likes cats but I haven’t met a horse person yet that didn’t like cats and dogs so I thought it would be ok to put this on here?!

Hope you all like that too!!! Have a great horsey day!!!

Question of the day: How much turnout time does your horse get?
My horses just have 3-sided sheds for shelter, so they are pretty much outside 24/7.

HISTORY OF THE ARABIAN
The modern Arabian, though no longer a warhorse subject to the cruel and unforgiving environment of the Arabian Desert, remains a breed of horse richly abounding in the qualities that made his ancestor a survivor. Above all, the Arabian horse was bred to serve his master, whose very life depended on the bravery, faithfulness and swiftness of his steed. These intrinsic merits as a synergistic whole define the breed as distinctly Arabian, comprising the essential elements of the authentic Arabian horse.
Perhaps, best described as a cross between an Olympic gymnast and a champion long distance runner, the Arabian horse is unrivalled as an athlete in the equine world. The defining characteristics of the Arabian horse are most often those that have historically been in highest demand by horse breeders of the civilized world down through the centuries. As the original racehorse, the Arabian was crucial to the foundation of the Thoroughbred, contributing the ability to run at great speeds over vast distances with courage, tenacity and superior physical fortitude. Arabians put the “hot” in the “hot-blood”, and all horses considered as such are largely Arabian in origin. The superior density, structure and quality of bone along with balance and harmony of proportion are unrivalled in the equine world and have been highly sought after in all equine breeds in which athleticism is of primary importance. Superior beauty, quality and refinement have always been distinct Arabian traits – all warm-blooded horses inherit these aesthetically pleasing and spiritually inspiring attributes from the horse of the Nejd.

Question of the day: Do you put up your own horse hay or do you have to buy it?

My dad is a farmer, so we put up our own hay. Usually during the wintertime we run out and have to buy some, but this year the weather conditions for putting up hay were really good and we have lots and lots of A1 horsehay.

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend, remember to vote Dakota for your Nov. HOTM!

HISTORY OF THE ARABIAN(requested by Hardwin)
With a domesticated history dating back several millennia, the Arabian horse is considered the eldest and most important of all modern equine breeds. The origin of the breed can be traced to the arid, desert region of the Nejd in the Arabian Peninsula, a harsh environment in which the basics of life, food and water, are scarce, and the existence of both man and beast is challenged in the extreme. Within this unforgiving terrain, the nomadic tribes of the Arabic Bedouin have survived for millennia. Essential to their survival has been their relationship with the Arabian horse, a creature most prized above all earthly possessions. The oral tradition of the Bedouin claims the Arabian horse was first captured thousands of years before the birth of Christ from among the wild horses of the Nejd and tamed for utility under saddle. This was the beginning of perhaps the most important and most intimate coexistence between man and any other member of the animal kingdom, one that would drive both progress and civilization and forever change the fortunes of both species.

Thanks everyone for the helpful info on how to get Sierra backing straight. I always tend to make her back up really fast, but once I slowed down and rewarded her for each step she took, she started doing a lot better.

Question of the day: What is your favorite breed of horse and why?
I dont really have a favorite breed, I pretty much like any horses, but of course I have a soft spot for Welsh Mountain ponies.

Thanks for all the support for Dakota's HOTM run, every vote is appreciated!
