Hiya!
I'm glad your horses were okay while you were gone. God was watching over them :-)
I understand about grumpy horses! Beau is usually like that. That reminds me, when I went out there Wednesday he gave me a hug! I about cried because he is never affectionate like that. I will take whatever I can get!
Hey, I'm 15, too! It stinks because I'm willing to work but not many places hire at 15. I know I could get a job at a fast food place but the idea disgusts me. I have ALWAYS seen myself working outside. I sure wish I could find a good job with horses!
So since you don't have a round pen do you use a lunge line?
I got shocked by an electric fence for the first time on Wednesday. Silly me.
Hope all is well.
my love and prayers,
Katie

Come visit me, Koda, Beau & Lady Aristocrat - I miss you already....

Hi Ashley! You have two beautiful horses! How do you like the Clinton Anderson method? I really admire him and would love to get his DVDs but unfortunately they are a little bit out of my price range. LOL. Oh well, I do what I can what with watching his TV show when I can. I'm glad you are coming far with your horses. I want to be a horse trainer... I really should get his DVDs! Ugh. I taught "my" (leased) horse Lady a lot of stuff this summer, from what I've learned from Clinton mixed with my own personal style, and she's come so incredibly far. I just wish I had my own acreage, I just saw a GORGEOUS paint colt on Craigslist for $200. I guess I can dream :)

Well, I have some sad news... :(I found out from Lady's owner (because I lease her) that when my lease is up, December 15th, we won't be renewing it. She is going to move her up to Omaha and will be spending all of her time with her. It makes me so sad. She is like my sister, in a strange kind of way. It took four of our nine months together for us to bond, but when we did, we really bonded. She is so funny. She has the most expressive eyes in the world. You can tell exactly what she's thinking. She's afraid of silly things like cows, but you could shoot a gun right above her head and she wouldn't flinch. She comes right up to me when she sees me. She puts her head on my shoulder, and she follows me everywhere I go. We have come so far together. At the beginning she was always bucking in the round pen and charging at me, but now she'll lope around like a queen, turn on a dime, and come into me as fast as she can. All of those achievements flow over into when I'm riding her as well. I taught her to neck rein and to respond to leg pressure. She pivots great and backs just how I ask her to. She sidepasses and flexes. She can run 30 mph. She gallops the whole way to the lake, 3 miles. I'm sure she could do more. She's a great horse, and I love her. She's not dying, but I'm losing her. She won't be that far, but I won't ever see her again. If I didn't have Beau and Koda, I don't know what I would do.

Now that I've given you the sad news, let me give you the happy! I'm starting to go out to the horse rescue to see Beau and Koda at least once a week now! I haven't been out there in about a month. I am so excited. God is good.

How are things with you and your herd? Any funny stories? :)

Sending love and a vote.

xoxo Katie
