Wow, that's great! I'm glad you have such a great time with your baby! She sounds amazing. She's a TH, right? Hopefully she continues to do well wherever she goes.

My herd is great! I ended up not going to Texas because I felt like crap, but I'll be going next weekend. My mom and brother went out of town, so I'm here with my grandparents. My grandfather took me out there to feed today, it was so funny. I think he wants to keep the barn cat for himself.
I have TONS of funny stories, lol. One time I was walking the 2yr old(that I just got rid of)near the pasture and Santana came running up to the gate, ears pinned, etc. (he's the boss horse, and tends to bully Taz, we kept them in separate pastures) and taz turned around, pinned his ears back, and Santana spit at him! It was so weird, he must've been drinking before he came up, because he threw his head up, opened his mouth, and all the water came out on Taz's face. It was so funny! Poor Taz was so disorientated....

Come visit me, Santana & Millie.

Quarter horses are big here, too. :) I think they're just awesome overall. I hope that you have fun in Texas. I'm sure you'll do alright, although I completely understand about wanting to do groundwork!!! I'm the same way! I agree when you say you can't judge a horse by its breed. That's sooo true. I really like paints because they're so beautiful, but I've known a lot of great Arabian and "Plain Jane" quarter horses. Horses are just awesome :) Don't feel bad about writing a lot, I always do. LOL.

Well, I have some sad news... :(I found out from Lady's owner (because I lease her) that when my lease is up, December 15th, we won't be renewing it. She is going to move her up to Omaha and will be spending all of her time with her. It makes me so sad. She is like my sister, in a strange kind of way. It took four of our nine months together for us to bond, but when we did, we really bonded. She is so funny. She has the most expressive eyes in the world. You can tell exactly what she's thinking. She's afraid of silly things like cows, but you could shoot a gun right above her head and she wouldn't flinch. She comes right up to me when she sees me. She puts her head on my shoulder, and she follows me everywhere I go. We have come so far together. At the beginning she was always bucking in the round pen and charging at me, but now she'll lope around like a queen, turn on a dime, and come into me as fast as she can. All of those achievements flow over into when I'm riding her as well. I taught her to neck rein and to respond to leg pressure. She pivots great and backs just how I ask her to. She sidepasses and flexes. She can run 30 mph. She gallops the whole way to the lake, 3 miles. I'm sure she could do more. She's a great horse, and I love her. She's not dying, but I'm losing her. She won't be that far, but I won't ever see her again. If I didn't have Beau and Koda, I don't know what I would do.

Now that I've given you the sad news, let me give you the happy! I'm starting to go out to the horse rescue to see Beau and Koda at least once a week now! I haven't been out there in about a month. I am so excited. God is good.

How are things with you and your herd? Any funny stories? :)

Sending love and a vote.

xoxo Katie

Thanks! We sold Taz, the paint I had up on here, so I took him down, and now I've got my Millie! She's such a good baby, although I can't ride her this weekend like I normally do, because I'm going to Texas to ride on my grandmother's cousin's ranch.

Katie- Things are going great! I'm kinda nervous about going to Texas because they don't do groundwork, and I typically prefer to lunge a horse before I ride for the first time, because you get a good idea of his personality. Oh well, these people are family, they won't put me on a crazy lunatic horse. :)
Well, I like several breeds, Santana, my other horse is a Morgan, and he was my first horse, so of course I'll always have a soft spot for Morgans... down here QHs are the main breed, and there great horses, so QHs make the list too. I love drafts and minnies, also. But you always have to remember one thing- Don't judge a horse by his breed. Sure, some horses have a better build for some things, but horses differ. I once met a large draft horse that could jump his fence on his pasture clearly.
Lol, I just wrote a novel. Thanks you guys!

Welcome Millie! What a cutie!
I had a great day with Lady today. I stopped out after school. There are always a couple of cute cowboys there. :) I went and haltered her and then we rode out into the pasture with just her halter and lead rope. She's come so, so, so far since March! She makes me feel like I could actually be a horse trainer. We went in the pasture and I did a little bit of conditioning. I had her do a little bit of hills and then we loped bareback. I'm keeping her in shape :) But boy am I sore now! I don't remember the last time that happened!
This might be the last month I lease Lady. Please pray that my dad will either decide to keep leasing my baby or buy me a horse. Also if you could pray for the horse rescue I volunteer at, that would be great.
I ask for prayer because God has been working in amazing ways in my life recently. I had my good friend pray that I would have a friend at my barn, and in the last two weeks I've made three friends. That's the first time anybody's approached me at the barn. Also, I've been praying for an opportunity to evangelize, and once again God gave it to me. Neither of my brothers are believers, and they have both asked me questions about Christianity lately. They are asking hard questions but God answered my prayers.
I left you a vote. How are things going for you? I hope all is well.
What is your favorite type of horse? Let me know! :)
