good morning!
i want to start off saying a BIG thank you for sandy's HOTD win! it was a huge surprise when i got on this morning and saw his face in the spotlight :) so thank you thank you thank you thank you!! TGIF!!! tomorrow i'll be going up to the virginia horse center in lexington with Rachael and Fynn to get him settled in for the House Mountain show on sunday. we're just gonna take him up there, get him in his stall and feeling comfortable and then tuck him in for the night. we'll head back home but rachael will go back up sunday morning for the show. and then on sunday, i'll have to miss my lesson because i'll be going over to Hollins college to attend their riding open house for seniors and juniors in high school. we'll get to talk to current riding students, barn coaches and staff, take a tour of the riding facility, and even get a chance to ride ourselves :) so that'll be my weekend, hope you have a restful and relaxing weekend!

Here's a vote from Fancy & Trigger.
Have you ever heard of Underwoods Horse medicine or ever used it? I was going to get a picture of Fancy's wound, but it just has a scab on it. She is not showing any signs of lameness. I know Fancy will run, kick, & buck up a storm so I leave her in the stall to keep her from aggravating that wound before the new flesh grows in.

History on the Gorgeous Akhal-Teke

The Akhal-Teke evolved about three thousand years ago in southern Turkmenistan where they are the national emblem. They are named after the nomadic tribe that bred them and are found mostly in Turkmenistan and Russia. These beautiful horses adapt to severe, climatic conditions and remain to be one of the oldest and purest breed of horse still living today. They are thought to be the predecessors of the Arabian and English thoroughbred breeds. Due to their endless stamina and the ability to withstand great extremes of temperature they were originally bred as war mounts and later for racing. Today the Akhal-Teke is used in all competitive equine sports including endurance, dressage, jumping, and eventing. The History on the Gypsy Beauties

The earliest records of multi-colored horses (such as the gypsy horse) are from cave drawings estimated to be approximately 20,000 years old. In past times, such multi-colored horses were believed to be omens of good fortune.
The association of the Rom with horses is almost legendary. By tradition, the gypsy horse is involved in each and every aspect of family life...faithfully pulling the vardo by day, yet sufficiently amenable and patient to be the gentle mount of gypsy children when the day is done. Often staked out alongside the road with the family wagon in all types of weather when not "on the move," the gypsy horse lives and thrives for the most part by partaking of the grasses which happen to be growing where it is tethered.
