How We Met

Bought him out of pity, even though skin and bones, there was just something about him, I couldn't resist when I stopped in to see him and he came over and put his head on my shoulder. Finally found Steven's Natural Horsemanship and everything finally started coming together for us. He is a Holstiener/Sadd- lebred/Morgan/? crossbred and is a lot of horse for an old lady to ride. I survived another long work weekend. A lot of customers with bad attitudes, and several servers were in tears from the stress. Not suppose to be that way. Still haven't finished the shed. Needs caulking and the shingles put on. Getting there. Got a doghouse to build, too. Sadie's good. Dewormed her this evening. Got to call the farrier. Have an amazing day, Tuesday. Hugs and a vote.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well today's my Monday, day off too from doing a lot. Plus I was tired yet after all I did on Sunday. Well if anyone saw my FB post this morning, yes we woke up to an inch of snow on the ground! The winter that just won't quite! It just keeps giving and giving and giving! And guess what, woke up and my back was better, maybe stretching to clean the truck and dry it off helped, who knows. But got good news, I can start to ride, only at the walk for the first couple of days and only for 15 minutes to start out. See how the back is feeling and responding to riding. Still no heavy lifting, so putting that 40LB western saddle up there is up to Marissa. LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

I'm so glad you were able to ride!!! I bet Meg enjoy her time with you as well. ♥ we ended up with visitors Friday. My grandson Jason and our nephew Little Ron stayed the night. We had fun. I gave the horses a spa day and had a wonderful ride on Deacon. All the farm land was dry enough for me to ride a long while. I also rode Whiskey Sunday. It was SOOOO windy. He doesn’t spook and it seems nothing bothers this horse “) No way Deacon could of took it, he’s the one who see’s monsters in the high winds. Have a great day!!!

kitty sounds so cute. he has a good thing going, making the rounds of the neighbors.
so you had a Meg day yesterday? im sure she enjoyed that. I finished the chick cage and then rode BJ right at dusk. I figured out that he was going slow because Ive been riding without stirrups (its more comfortable on my knee) and he was just responding to a deeper seat. he gave me more energy when I picked up my stirrups. he's a good boy.
woke up to the season's first thunderstorm this morning. I like the sound of thunder if it's not right on top of you. don't know what the rest of the day is supposed to be like. hope yours is good.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well it was 19 this morning but went up to 42 with strong sun. Felt good. I think I over did it today however. Had spring fever and did a lot. Indy got lunged, then Bullseye got free play. Decided to get the big tractor down there and rake the indoor. That was okay, as it has power steering. Then left and went over to Paige. I lunged her and did some showmanship, as Sunday she's not on the work list. So I try to work her to get her out of her stall. Then drove Beast to the truck wash and gave it a bath. Came home and then re-wiped it down to get the water spots off it! That was probably the straw to break the camels back! Or at least my back! Good thing tomorrow is Chiro day for me. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

On the shampoo I will have to look its at the barn. It is green and in gel form. I like you can squirt it on, work it in, wipe it off. Horse stays dry. Jax came to me today too. It feels so good when they do that. After a good grooming, we rode. He was so naughty. I had to get off and lunge him. Teenagers gees Have a great Sunday. Vicki & Big Jax

Pecan trees are usually the last to get their leaves around here. How about there? The saying here is that the best time to plant is the first weekend after Easter. These old sayings are so interesting. For all our technology, I think the folks 100+ years ago were smarter.
Didn't get to go to the show yesterday, dang it. A long winded visitor showed up and didn't leave till after 4, and by then it was time to feed and start supper. Did get the chick cage framed and the lid built, just have to put the wire on. I let Allie up in the yard to graze, and she kept wandering through the construction site getting in the way. She doesn't have a normal horse's fear of tight spaces, silly girl. Rode BJ a bit. He was super super slow; I hope he was just being lazy and not sore or feeling bad. His jog has gotten slower than I can walk backwards.
Well, hope you have a nice Sunday and get to ride again.

the instructions were to do the stretches daily for 3-5 days then when ever possible. I'm trying to stretch them after every ride. I'm teaching my students how to do it so I will have help with it. one thing I noticed is that when they pee they do the pelvic tilt. I'm not struggling to do that one. they do it on their own several times a day! lol. I went to charlotte's saddler and met with their saddle fitter. looked at 3 saddles with wide trees. I need a 16in. she will bring them Wednesday to fit them to buttercup then i'll decide which to buy. one is a tucker, one a circle y flex 2, and the third is a circle y trail gaiter (usually used by gaited horses so it's more forgiving in the front for their high action). I picked out a blue biothane bridle and breastplate to go with it. I have to pay $70 for the saddle fitting but it will be deducted from the saddle that I buy. :)

Sounds like you had a nice Saturday. I spent 4 hours out with Jax. Too cold to ride, but he needed a really good grooming. You could tell he was enjoying himself. Trimmed the poll, washed his tail bone, (he is all white there). I used dry shampoo. Worked on the mane and tail. I added conditioner to them. We had snow (where is spring???) so I figure they were really wet it was a good time to add it. Got the tangles out. Yeah!! If it warms tomorrow I will take a ride. Enjoy your Sat evening. Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well it was so cold and windy today. I really think that Spring has been renamed, extended Winter, to come for the month of May! Went over by Paige, got another showmanship workout. This time fine tuning our square turns and pivots. With added changes in my position now of handling and setting her up. What a difference in how Paige responded to the ques. Got home and was going to take a walk down to that woman's house to see if they found the beagle, but the winds had the temps down to 22 degrees and it was just to cold for my ole'bones. Hopefully tomorrow we'll start a warming trend again! But going down to 14 degrees tonight! More wood in the stove please! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Oh no, new truck tires. Yeah, those will set you back a bit. Just when you finally have some nice weather, the horses disappear, huh? Wouldn't you know. Hope they show up today.
Its turned off chilly this weekend, with lows around freezing. So glad I haven't planted a garden yet. I've always heard to wait until after Easter, no matter when Easter is. Seems like that's usually about right. A friend of mine shows in working cow horse events and is showing at the big local arena today, so I might try to visit her there. She's not sure what time her classes are, so it'll be pure chance if I get to watch her run, but it'll be good to see her.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well, that rain last night, turned to snow! Nothing really to speak of here, but just 20 miles from me it was a few inches deep! Has anyone seen Spring? If so, give it our zip code please! LOL! Got over to see Paige and had a showmanship lesson again. Since I can't ride yet, Marissa is really drilling us, only today might have been to long. I felt it a little after the 40 minute workout! Got home and went for a walk, I know walking is really good for the back. Well the one mile I had planned on, turned into close to 2 miles. I meet a neighbor who's year old beagle ran off, slipped it's harness. Spent over 90 minutes walking the road and then the woods by her house looking for Olivia. Didn't find her. Hope she comes home for super! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well it warmed up to about 52 degrees, but with the rain is was so damp. I really would rather have had 35 degrees and sunshine! LOL! Got Indy and Bullseye to the indoor. Indy got lunged, he was shocked that I put the line on him. Usually I free lunge him, but I wanted to work on lots of changes of direction. Then Indy got a shave and trim and spruced up. Bullseye I did the bulbs of his frogs, they really over grow. So I pulled out my mechanics stool and sat on it, he don't care and got my nippers out. He's such a good little donkey. Well chance of a thunder storm tonight, lovely! Still, better than snow! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

glad you had a dry day or two. and glad Shy Guy is showing up regularly. did you say he's black?
finally have a day off, but have tons of errands to do, so don't know if i'll have much horse time. one of the things I have to do is to put my old Aussie, Mick, down. he's at least 14 years old, and has had a bad heart and needed meds for the last year, but they aren't really working anymore, and he wheezes and stumbles around and doesn't look like he enjoys life anymore, so rather than wait for an emergency late at night... He's been a really good dog and i'll miss him a lot. I have 4 other dogs, but there's only 1 Mick.
well, I hope you have a good day, even though I think you said it's supposed to rain. stay dry.

Here's a vote from Buddy! It's been a long time since we've been on to blog, I've signed on now and then so my points don't go away, but haven't had time to do much of anything else. So here's a update on us!

Things didn't work out with the move to Grande Cache work/money wise for my fiancé & I, so we moved back to my home town of Grande Prairie, but of course that was after we put ourselves in major debt :( We're living with Robs brother currently, and trying to get back on track. Rob got a job doing the same as he was in Edmonton, and got his class 1 license last week, so now he can drive a big truck of his own and make more $$! I babysit my niece for my sister 5 nights a week, and still sell Scentsy. I'm looking for another job during the day, but haven't had much luck with it yet.

Buddy is still in Grande Cache, hopefully just until the end of this month. I have a place to keep him here just outside of town, I've just got to pay the Grande Cache people up in full before I can move him. I also have to find a trailer to rent and Rob & I both need the day off, as I won't be able to make the trip to GC and then back to GP before I have to babysit. There's lots I need/want to do when I finally have my boy back with me. I of course, want to make sure he settles in to the new place well, and spend some time with him since I haven't seen him this year yet (I feel terrible for this,) plus the owners of the new place want me to get him a vet check when he gets here.

I hope everyone has been well and enjoying horsey time! Hope spring has sprung for you all!

-Buddy & Jasmine

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well day started off on the bad foot! Cat (Mo) got out of the barn this morning, which in it's self is okay, he roams the place in the summer. But the fact that he caught and ate one of my Morning Doves who nest every year on top of my A/C unit to the bedroom, really ticked me off. I don't know if he killed momma or dad! He's lucky he's not dead himself! On a brighter note, went over to do another Showmanship lesson with Paige. She was really, really good for me. But did eat off her bell boots, Marissa left them on this morning after riding her and the let her loose in the stall! Yummy she said! Indy and Bullseye got turnout time in the indoor. Rains started around 3 pm and tomorrow will be heavier with thunder storms, but however going up to about 53 degrees. Lots more snow melted off today! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Deb works with handicap adults and has to lift. They also have 4 horses. She is not a lazy girl and doesn't know what taking it easy is. Told her if she wanted to ride this summer she best take care of herself. Hit the 20's yesterday but the winds are awful. I did a riding lesson. Told my trainer I was going to ride no matter what. I want Big Jax ready to take to some of the events. I'm not competing, just want to get him used to crowds. It will be fun for me as well. Hope the mud is drying up. How many 100 days do you get? So maybe your swamp will dry up a bit with 70* weather !!
I been putting a sweatshirt on Jack at night , I think he likes it, the vet is out till the April 1 so I am doing my best with Dr. him myself, if it wasn't for his bum leg he'd be doing great, I keep it wrapped and made him a duck tape boot so he does not drag his hoof raw, this AM he appeared to be walking a little better, trimmed all his hooves last night and put a clean wrap on him, I use 2 pair of tube socks, bandage wrap to hold them up then make the duck tape boot, seems to work great, today is mid 50* here, rain storm last night, wind storm now, and a tiny bit of sun when the clouds pass, Lilly will just be getting visits today !! have a wonderful week, love Suz and Lilly

It was only 16 when I got up to feed and the high was 30 degrees with windy winds! So not much melted off today! Did go for another walk, just all the way down back of my farm and around and up the side along the indoor. Just picking up some of the neighbors trash that blew into my hay field and along the indoor. Tomorrow I'll be going over to see Paige, hopefully I'll be doing some of the grooming on her. The Traumeel pills are working as good as or better than the Aleve and no heartburn from them. Didn't use the ointment today either, trying to see how it's doing without all the stuff.
