How We Met

Bought him out of pity, even though skin and bones, there was just something about him, I couldn't resist when I stopped in to see him and he came over and put his head on my shoulder. Finally found Steven's Natural Horsemanship and everything finally started coming together for us. He is a Holstiener/Sadd- lebred/Morgan/? crossbred and is a lot of horse for an old lady to ride. Hi & a vote,
I got a call from my friend that Rocky didn't eat morning grain, but is grazing and seemed ok otherwise. Going to take temp and report to the vet this evening. The lump under his chin seemed more firm last night than the day before. Yikes, it's always something! So, maybe something is brewing with him, but time will tell and have to keep a close eye.

Come visit me, Cowboy, Rocky (the blue-eyed wonder horse) & Comet (has new home).

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well got those two more doctor's appointments out of the way. Synvisc One shot went well, although a little sore today. Icing right now! And take it easy today. So lunge them and turn out time. He did say I could mow for a while, sitting on the tractor won't be walking and it's the walking you have to take it easy on the first and second day. Then over to the Lung doctor, they sound good and back in 3 months to him. Got home and just gave the kids hay for lunch with fresh water. It was nice and sunny, but the ground was still a sponge! Hopefully today I can get them out! Nice weather for the next couple of days, and of course 39% chance of storms on Sat and I have the tickets to the rodeo that I won! Could be getting wet! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Yaaaaayy!!! You got to ride your Lilly girl! How wonderful was that to be back in the saddle again? She's a zoom-zoom too? Too bad we can't ride our ponies together; we'd sure cover a lot of ground. Hope you get to ride again soon, like maybe today?
I finally got to ride Allie yesterday, yay! She's had at least 2 weeks off (feels more like 2 months) because I've been so busy. All she wanted to do was go, so we did tight circles, forehand turns, and spins everytime she broke out of a walk. Got tons of practice at those things, lol. She finally dropped her head and stayed at a walk, even though it was the world's fastest walk. She's gradually getting lighter in the bosal, and pretty good at our maneuvers. It was great to be back on her again.

Hi & a vote,
Rocky and his pals doing well after vaccines. They don't typically have reactions. I am monitoring that lump and vet will check again next visit. He got the flu/rhino and rabies this time. I think it's Potomac next time. And his teeth floated.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well physical went well, blood pressure is great and I lost 7 lbs from last year! They too were happy about that, but this IsAgenix is great! Just hope that it helps to bring the cholesterol down some! People say that they have dropped 30 points or more! So by the time I got back from the dr's Beast was done! So I stopped and dropped off the F250 truck and they drove me to Ford's. It was a few things, first the regeneration whatever blew out some little part and got stuck. The hose from the turbo on the diesel to the engine actually exploded when being taxed going up the big mountain to get home from the chiro. And there were 7 updates on the computer system for the truck that they did the upgrade on. He was kind enough to put it in under warranty work, even though the bumper to bumper ran out the end of Nov. So the cost then for warranty work is a service charge of $100, actual cost would have been over $350 to me. So he said, there we helped to pay for the rental truck. Thank you Nieson Fords! So getting home in the rain at 3 pm, meant hay and fresh water for the horses. Now for today, I'll be heading over for my knee injection and then have a 2:15 appt with my lung doctor for my asthma check up. So once again probably in and hay and fresh water for them. Then will have to take it easy tomorrow, so a lunge day again for them. Hopefully today's sun will start to dry up the soapy lawn and pastures! Lot's of mowing to do! Everything will have to be mowed twice to get it done and done right! Need a herd of sheep and goats! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Glad the knee is better. Doesn't take much to make them complain.
We got a little rain yesterday too, maybe another 10th of an inch. We have a 40% chance or better the next week or so, scattered TS sort of thing.
Lol, you're right, HB brains have to be tiny. Really tiny.

Hi & a vote,
Rocky had his vet appointment this morning and got vaccines and will get the rest of the vaccines June 1. They split it up to help avoid reactions. Next visit his teeth will get floated too. The vet noticed a swollen lymph node under his jaw, which we'll have to watch and he'll check it again next visit.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well got the lawn mowed yesterday before the chiro. Kids got screwed out of the afternoon out! Coming back from chiro and food shopping, the truck goes into exhaust cleaning mode and gets stuck! Tried to drive it out of it like Fords said, but nope didn't work. Had to drop off groceries and take it to Fords! But they don't do loaners for about the last 10 years, so had to get a Enterprise Rental through them. Yikes $56 a day! But I got a 2018 F150 4X4, in black XLT not the Lariat's that I'm used to, but still good. Hopefully it's fixed today! If I didn't have my complete physical this morning at the Union Medical Center and it takes about 4 weeks for the appt. I wouldn't have needed a car, they could have driven me home! Oh well, and it's raining today and all day! So kids will get lunged today when I get home this early afternoon. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well it was very interesting show for sure! Got horses loaded in between the rain and we drove almost 4 hours in the rain and unloaded in the rain! Rain on Fri and Sat, thank goodness for all the neck covered rain sheets I've won over the years! So Paige stayed dry getting to the indoor arena. Friday placed in my Level One Showmanship under one judge, then completely had a brain fart and half way through my Select Pattern blew it! Oh Well! Redeemed myself on Sat with Level One two 3rds out of 17 horses. And when with two 2nds in my Select Class. Paige also got halter points nationally. And did I get the stink eye from Marissa! Indy enjoyed himself and got lunged daily there too. Had a good time with Kate, Matt and Denise, no stress at all, and Kate's like on top of things. Down to every last detail! I had a shinny horse walking into all my classes! Not like before, where all of a sudden I was looking for a grooming bag at the ring to do final touches myself! Of course Sunday the sun finally came out, but I was leaving. Temps down there hit 89! Good to be home! But next three days are all kinds of doctor appointments! With Wed being the ortho for the Synvisc One in the Right Knee. So that'll be three more days I miss of riding and working with Paige. But I should be a lot sounder myself in about 2 weeks. So Newman that had the colic surgery for the twist of the large intestine is doing very well. Jack that got himself impaled by the fence is home and on a long road to recovery as well. Got a load of my show laundry in and will have two loads of there's. And everyone wants to chip in and buy me jeans that fit and aren't falling off. Down 7 lbs and 15 inches in 4 weeks! Loving this IsaGentics diet! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Maybe it was the oncoming rain that had your knee hurting? Who knows with knees. Glad it's feeling better.
And congrats on finally getting some rain.
Snorkels for the Belmont? Lol.
We had TS rumbling around all afternoon yesterday (another tenth of an inch), so that kept me from any horsey activities. And it's work all day today and tomorrow, so I probably won't be on HC tomorrow. Hope your week gets off to a good start.

Glad Jazz was happy with Lilly's company. That herd instinct must be so strong with horses, and then we went them to go off trail riding by themselves or with horses they don't know. We must seem strange to them, lol.
Oh no, I hate that your knee is hurting. Hope it feels better soon.
Yeah, don't you just hate when you really need rain but it won't come, even when forecast? Sure hope you get some soon. We have a low pressure system parked over us, so we're getting some rain, but nothing like what they predicted. Still, it's a huge help.

Hi & a vote,
Rode Rocky last night when it was a nice evening. He was still shedding a layer. Rode with my friend and her mare. Bugs were starting to come out, which the mare doesn't like, so Rocky led the way on the trail and the mare had to follow (insulting to her)! haha

That would be a good idea, to leave Lilly in the yard with Jazz for company. They sure are social animals, aren't they?
We only got one little downpour yesterday afternoon (1/10 of an inch), so I was able to get a lot of grass cut (the dandelions are off the chain!) and also a short ride on Gracie. I rode her out in the pasture, which apparently, I don't do nearly enough, because she didn't listen as well as she does in the ring. Gonna have to practice that more often with her. I've found that schooling in the pasture really sharpens them up in the riding ring. Anyway, she got yard time afterward for a treat.
It's back to work all day today, but hope you have a great friday.

Aw, that is sweet when a horse would rather hang with their human. They get a lot more pats and scratches that way.
The job is being held up in the red tape dept, ie, the higher ups don't want to pay for orientation. So for now, I've picked up a few extra hours in the old job.
Finally got some measurable rain yesterday, an inch and a quarter. Of course, the weathermen are screaming "flash floods", and there's been trouble up in the mountains, but here, the ground is soaking it up like a sponge.

I see from the weather reports you are getting the same nasty weather we are. Just coming in a different direction. Your right I have been having fun with the ice cream. My neighbors are enjoying it to. So we can all get fat together lol Hope you get to ride soon. Getting warmer here so Jax is calmer. Rain this weekend. I can ride if we don't have thunder and lightning. Well I went to get in the car Monday and it wouldn't unlock from the drivers door. Had to crawl over the stick shift from the other side. Stopped by the garage and Vince got it so I could open it from the inside. Which would have worked except we had thunderstorm and rain. Car spent the day in the shop. took him 3 hours to fix it. He had to take it completely apart. It needs a new part that he didn't have. However, I use the key and not the remote to get in and out. The remote doesn't work on the drivers door. So I use the key the alarm goes off. Then I have to hit the lock key. O well I will live with it till the part comes in. Sad part the car body is slowly falling apart. The motor is good I only have 144,000 miles on it. Looks like I have to start thinking of getting another car. I know its old (2006) but with low mileage I really wish it would last longer. But when the parts are so old and its rusting away. If I have to keep putting money into it, I guess I don't have a choice. Just like not having a car payment. O well such is life. I need a car so no choice. Vicki & Big Jax

Come visit me, Big Jax.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Interesting day yesterday for sure. Bright sunshine and warm and humid. Got the lawn mowed and got the kids out for like 90 minutes and noticed the sky getting dark. In they came, started to walk Honey, got about 1500 feet from the house and got a severe weather alert on my cell phone. They weren't kidding, turned around, just got Honey in the house and closed up the barn as much as I could and all hell broke loose! High winds, Guests of 60 MPH were recorded with hail half inch round came down. Then heavy rains blowing every which way! Thunder and lightning unreal! Honey had some of her meds and was still a mess, but not to bad. So as of this morning, several area schools closed cause no power! I did loose my internet till this morning. Trees down all over the place, several lightning strikes with fires! Remember JW that was my farrier, his daughters new horse got so scared it ran the fence line and busted the fence up and himself. Where was he, at Marissa's, what where they doing, bringing in their lessons horses first! So Jack got rushed to Mid-Atlantic with major lacerations penetrating almost into his stomach! He's coming home this morning, but his show career is over for this year, I feel so bad for little Anna, it's her new horse. Then another friend over that way, it's where it was worse than up here, he gelding coliced bad. He's in surgery right now for gas and minor twist, hopefully Newman will be okay. Dam weather! Home Depot over that way lost their entire garden center area, roof blew right off! It was bad! So today, it's raining and will be most of the day. So indoor arena work for everyone. Just have to load up bedding and last minute food stuff for me tomorrow morning and we're off to the show. So we won't be on tomorrow at all. Try to keep y'all updated from the show site. Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well yesterday we had sun all day. So got the kids out for almost 2 hours on their pastures! Shopping done, trailer moved and half packed! Walked Honey for a mile. Productive day. Right now it's sunny and humid! But by 4 pm severe thunder storms! So I'm hoping to get them out and mow the lawn around the house and by the indoor. Maybe do a little more of my food packing in the fridge in the trailer and a few other things. Hay and horses feed will be tomorrow before the next round of rain! Indy is doing very well, I have the phone number for the salt brick company and will call them today and ask if they changed things or the shrink wrap could effect the salt. Also if anyone else they know of had an issue. Name on the salt brick is PRIDE. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well I got the kids to the indoor in between the heavier rains! Hand walked Paige for like 30 minutes, swelling is down and she's sound. Jogged some straight lines and doing well. Indy got lunged and Bullseye to to play. Also trimmed Bullseye's rear hooves finally! So he's good to go for about 8 weeks now. Today it's overcast and supposed to stay dry! So down to the feed store, Tractor Supply, Acme for the rest of the food for me and then home and hook up to the trailer and move it and start packing as much as I can. Probably the hay for sure, as the rest of the days it'll be rain again! Gonna be a wet one for sure. But with the huge indoor arena, a covered bubble arena for practice and the enclosed barns, we'll be dry. Except for walking from barns to arenas. I've got their rain sheets packed all the time in the trailer, so we'll be good. Haven't seen the fox! Yeah hopefully scared if off of my property at least. She was big, about almost the size of Honey! Just as long, but maybe shorter! Probably goes about 35 lbs at least! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

It's been weird this year, the HBs (may have) showed up briefly late April, but haven't seen them since. Mom is reporting the same thing. Not a single one. Hope they don't know something we should know but don't.
Had a great time at my parent's. We threw Mom a tea party Saturday, which she enjoyed, and got to spend time with my sister, my niece, and her daughter and step daughter. My son took care of the critters for me and everybody was good when I got home, just going through a lot of water because it's been mid 90s all weekend. Oi!
Well, I'm picking up an extra shift today (they were desperate and I could use the $). Hope you have a great Monday.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well nothing buy rain all day yesterday. And today too! Actually the forecast is for any where's from 30% to 70% each and every day for the next week! Gonna get wet going from the show barns to the indoor arenas! Yesterday was a spa day and hay and fresh water for lunch. Indy's now on hay morning and afternoon (if not out for pasture) and doing well! Zyrtec 10 am and 5 pm, weaning him off. For sure it was the salt bricks! Today I'll for sure get them to the indoor and hand walk Paige and lunge Indy. Trim Bullseye's rear hooves too! Yes, Indy will be going to the horse show with us. Kendra who takes care of Bullseye really don't want the responsibility of Indy. Especially after him and all his issues with the hives! And I'd be a wreck if he stayed home! I wasn't all that thrilled with him staying at Marissa's last year, I know he didn't get the best of care! Rather pay for the stall and know he's taken care of the way I want! Besides, he does have his fan club that always asks for him and now the girls can come and see and love on him. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well that red fox is back! Seems that before he showed up over here with that chicken, he killed one in their back yard and then was making off with another. After he was chased away, he returned to Laura's and killed another chicken that day 30 minutes later. Last night at 6:45 when I got ready to go and feed, he was right at my barn door! Don't know if he was looking to go in, or coming out, but he went to the manure pile and stood on top of it eyeballing me! I got the 22 rifle and took a shot at him, buy my scope isn't adjusted right and didn't get him! So now I'll be carrying the 22 pistol all the time! Horses were up and even Indy was upset when I went in to feed. So he might have been in there. Mo is okay! So, Paige was out all afternoon yesterday and walking fine on it with standing wraps yet as per Larry. Today it's raining and will be for several days! So it'll be indoor arena and probably just hand walking today and see where I go from there. Want her totally okay to leave next Thursday for the horse show! Even if I only show Halter and Showmanship, I don't mind, they are my two favorite classes. I don't have to ride this show. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well four of us agree that Paige really needs shoes behind for the posterior supple. Especially now that she's going into work full time. She stood great for the farrier and didn't even mind him working on the rears. So she's back in rear shoes and standing flat on that hoof! Swelling is going down and she's tracking good! So just as Rob is packing up his shoeing trailer, he hears a noise, comes out and right next to it and 8 feet from my barn door is a red fox setting up for the kill on the chicken it dragged over here! He scared it off, fox ran to my hay field and stared at us. Chicken ran in barn, Paige was on the cross ties and says, HI little one, come visit me! She loves everything and everyone! Neighbor from across the street came over to get it. Laura says, yeah Steve (husband)saw the fox grab the chicken, yells to Laura to go and save it! Chicken idiot Steve, if he would have yelled and ran at it, it would have let go of the chicken there! But no, Steve is a sissy! MEN! So at any rate, kids out 90 minutes, Paige moving good. What a TS rolled in last night just as we went to the barn to feed at 7 pm. Poor Honey was besides herself. She came in each stall and sat in the corner and shook while I picked them clean. Poor baby! Well today it's weed whack the property line and mow those two other pastures. Kids out, but a cool day of only about 63 degrees. So much for wanting to bath them today. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Aw, poor Jazz. What in the world came over Cisco? Glad Jazz didn't get hurt on the fence, but I bet she'll be super sore for a few days. If we were closer, I'd let you borrow Cinni, she'd be a perfect companion for Jazz.
I got to ride Allie yesterday out in the pasture. All we did was walk since all she wanted to do was go. She got LOTS of practice circling, lol. Had some afternoon TS roll around, but none came over us.
We're headed down to see my folks for Mother's Day, so I'll be off line until monday. Hope you have a good weekend.

Come visit me, BJ and his mom Gracie & Allie.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. YAY old lawn mower/tractor is sold! First guy never showed up, called second guy! He's like I'll be there right after work. Didn't care about the oil leak, as long as it runs, cuts and does it job, I can put oil in it he said. Paid the asking price of $150 cash and will pick it up this afternoon! Farrier this morning already. Shoes all around on Paige, she needs that posterior support on those hinds, cause she buggered up that right hind again! DAM! So back on bute and no riding. Turn out time and Larry said she'll be fine. He believes that in running the other day like a nut, she kicked herself and blew it back up. Gotta try and mow two pastures before the rains and TS storms move it. Gotta jet! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi & a vote,
My Mom always loved the hummingbirds and had feeders out for them where she could watch them from the window. It was "80's" here for like two days, but now 70's. That's fine weather for me. Probably no more horsey fun now until the weekend, depending on the weather also.

Us too with the temps. Like somebody flipped a switch and summer's here.
Glad Lilly is doing well in her groundwork. Are you still working on the leading by the feet, etc? I've never done that, maybe I will just to add something new to my groundwork routines.
I'll still be doing the ICU for now, the pre-op will just be extra. If a more permanent position opens up one day in pre-op, I'll take it. I really enjoyed it yesterday. It can be busy, but I don't have to give any meds, worry about anybody's BP, answer any call bells, etc. A different kind of busy. And sitting at the computer vs walking around seeing patients seems pretty balanced, so I think my knees can do it.
I spent most of the day at work yesterday but I did get home early enough to feed everybody and do a short bareback ride on BJ in the evening, just a rope around his neck. Dee is the only horse I have that shines (due to everybody else's light colors), but she sure looks good almost shed out.

Come visit me, BJ and his mom Gracie & Allie.

Hi & a vote,
It was such nice weather again last night, so got in another ride on Rocky. More work with the shedding blade was needed. Rode out on the trail for the first time with my friend. Rocky gave a tiny "buck" on the way home, so that means his feet are feeling good!
Blue got muddy too and needed a rinse off before the ride home. Rocky's new Cavallo boots stayed on through the mud, so I was happy about that.

Hope you do get to ride friday. Will you start in the roundpen?
Yeah, we're supposed to be in the low 90s by the end of the week. I like the 60s low 70s better, lol. Guess it's time to uncover and de-algae the pool.
I'm going in to work today to walk around on a possible new job. I'll still be part time in the unit, but I've been needing to pick up more hours, what with the truck payment and Madison's counseling, and this is with inpatient pre-op, so it's just walking around and making sure people are consented and ready for surgery the next day. I'll be prn with them, but would love if that turned into part time eventually and I could drop the icu entirely. Also, my boss, who's been a wonderful boss for years, is getting a leadership award today and we're gonna surprise her with it, she doesn't even know she was nominated.
Well, hope your Wed is a good one. Take care.

Come visit me, BJ and his mom Gracie & Allie.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well did a little more yesterday and it's feeling pretty good today. So some weed whacking, mowing and ride Paige. Turn kids out. Have someone coming this afternoon to look at my old lawn mower and one more in line for later this afternoon, and possible one couple for the weekend. It's up in front of the house by the road with it's FOR SALE sign on it. Farrier coming Thursday morn for complete set of shoes on Paige and trim Indy. Other than that, sunshine today and near 80, lovin'it! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi & a vote,
I had a quick ride last evening, but just by myself since my friend was busy. Rocky needed more shedding again, of course. It was nicer out than I expected out, so I had to have a ride when I dropped off Rocky's supplement that got delivered.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well doctors appt. went well. Cortisone in and didn't even burn this time and no swelling or redness like last year. Still have to make it a light day to using the knee and ice it of course. Gave me a new knee brace, shorter and less bulky for the first show. I know I'll need the support of a hinged brace for all the jogging I'm not used to! Kids were out yesterday in their pastures. Need those walking mowers to do their job! LOL! Starting tomorrow Indy will go to real hay in the am, grass for lunch weather permitting and then the cubes at night time. I have three bags left, so need to use them. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi & a vote,
Saturday was beautiful, but I was busy all day between Blue's agility and the nursing home. My friend and I were going to ride on Sunday, but the weather turned out rainy all day, so we got rained out. Maybe ride Tuesday or Wednesday instead when the weather will be good.

Come visit me, Cowboy, Rocky (the blue-eyed wonder horse) & Comet (has new home).

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well even though it rained most of Sunday, still got somethings done. Paige lunged fine, sound and moving nice! Indy lunged too. Good spa day, still pulling out some of Indy's short thick winter coat. Honey and I did get a walk in, thank goodness cause we both needed it. I'm on this diet and I've dropped 4 lbs in three weeks. So Indy got hay for lunch yesterday and no reaction with hives! YAY! I've got the orthopedic for the Cortisone shot in the right knee till my Synvisc One is approved. Hopefully that'll get me through the show! Might have to fire up the old lawn tractor and put it's sign on it up at the roadside-FOR SALE! Any good handyman who knows engines can probably put the new oil seals in it for far less than it was going to cost me for all the labor! Have at IT! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.
