How We Met

Bought him out of pity, even though skin and bones, there was just something about him, I couldn't resist when I stopped in to see him and he came over and put his head on my shoulder. Finally found Steven's Natural Horsemanship and everything finally started coming together for us. He is a Holstiener/Sadd- lebred/Morgan/? crossbred and is a lot of horse for an old lady to ride. Hi everyone, sorry I have not been on, as you all know Jack the goat had a relapse, today was going to be a difficult day, the vet is coming to the barn for everyone's wellness checks and shots, today I was gonna have to be judge and jury for Jack but I am happy to say he is back on his feet walking and foraging in a slow motion manner but that is okay, occasionally he stumbles and I have to go pick him up but strength will come with time, praise God he got a reprieve from the almighty Judge !! on the flip side, Lilly got a bath yesterday, so did I LOL, she gets her shots today and hopefully a clean bill of health, the gal that gave me a lesson on trailer loading said Lilly needs to see a chiropracter, she said it feels like there something off on the r
right side of her neck up by her poll, her daughter does this kind of work so I have a call into her to talk about it and schedule an appt. I am getting ready to take Lilly for a spin in the trailer this week yay, but here is a ? for Everyone, do you tie or not tie your horses in the trailer, the gal who gave me a lesson does not, alot of yes and no's on the internet, not sure what I am suppose to do, any suggestions ??? love you all, Lilly and Suzie

Come visit me, Lilly.

Glad the weather will cooperate for the farrier's visit. And I hope it does the rest of the week too so you can go to the clinic. We got some hail in a storm yesterday, weird jagged-shaped hail about quarter sized. Everything seems to be OK, thankfully.
That's probably a really good idea to have some kind of roadside assistance for when you're hauling. It could turn in to a nightmare otherwise.
Up to 3 HBs, huh? I haven't seen any yet. I have noticed we have more brown thrashers this year, and maybe a few less mockingbirds. I was up at 1 am the other night and they were out singing at that hour. We don't even have a street light or anything to confuse them. Don't know what that's about, lol.

Come visit me, Allie, congrats Paige- our April queen & BJ and his mom,Gracie.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Monday off for me, and Indy, but Paige got to work on the lunge line to keep her moving and try and loosen up that neck of hers. Rain, rain and more of it. Just about an inch as of noontime today. I'm hoping that since tomorrow is day five, she'll be better. Last year it took five days for her and the three for Indy. She's just so sensitive to the shots. In the fall, she only gets the Rhino/Flu and that takes her three days to get over. So like Larry says, if we space them out, she'll be sore 3 days at least after each dose. So 5 days and be done with it. She lunges very willingly and does her showmanship work, she just can't do lateral and down motion of the head. But she's loving the extra hugs and kisses and treats! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Marion says there are treatment options for a popped stifle, so i'll check with my vet and see what he says about it. ever summer, BJ gets something that sidelines him. sigh.
we got a little over an inch yesterday, and you're right, the way it rained, sure seemed like it was more than that. supposed to get afternoon thunderstorms today, but it already looks pretty dreary out there now. hope to get something horsey done today, but we'll have to see. might be dealing with some rain rot if this keeps up.
hope your herd are all doing well and you have a good Monday.

3 days of ain and wind on the way...
Charlie's diet was a bit overwhelming at first, but I got this now...So, twice a day her gets, 4 cups of alfalfa pellets, one scoop loose salt,(50cc) 2 scoops of stabilized rice bran, 3 scoops of oat flour, two scoops of ground flax seeds, two scoops of ground pumpkin seed(hulled raw) I soak this to make a mash and he gets top dressing of one scoop of a pro/prebiotic plus 1/2 cup of dried cabbage. He love it...he is also still on a low dose of the Omeperozole. doing good. Love Donna Lee

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well another really sunny day! Only the temps this time only got to about 67, but it was still T-shirt weather for me. Kevin came over and we lifted the lawn tractor up with the bucket of the big tractor and he was able to change the mowing blades and scrap the underside of the deck. All ready to rock now! Then I lunged Indy and Paige today. Turned them out in their pastures, grass is low, but green. Indy struggled but got his head down to eat it. Paige just stood there looking pathetic the entire time. Bullseye of course went to town running and eating. The after that, I gave Beast a coat of the spray on liquid wax shine. Now it's really looking great. Only rain almost all this week. I have chiropractor tomorrow, thinking I'll take the old Blue out and use up some of my diesel fuel in it. LOL, don't want to sell it with a full tank, 38 gallons at $3 a pop! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

an inch of rain is a lot. we're getting lots of rain too. did a lot of planting yesterday- tomatoes and a dogwood tree. I love dogwoods. someone gave me this one as a gift, but I wish they would've waited till fall. rode Gracie in the evening, just lightly since she hasn't been ridden in a while, and since it's wet and slippery. she was very good- soft and responsive even in a halter. good girl.

ALL IS WELL....
I had a great day yesterday, got lots done outside, the paddocks are all clean. All of the old hay from winter is cleaned up and taken away, no poop laying around. We are going to reseed the one paddock but i can't do that until it is a bit dryer and not as windy. I even had time for a short ride. Charlie seems to be adjusting to the change in weather well, and his new diet is a hit, he loves his bucket. They will both gets teeth and shots in the next few weeks and Charlies's shoes go back on, have a great day, Love and a vote Donna Lee

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well, they both had sore stiff necks this morning. Called Larry, give each 5 cc Banamine orally and work them out later to get them to loosen up. I do have to admit it takes them about 3 or 4 days to feel better. Did last year from what I have in the computer. Paige was fine today on the line, I think cause she picked that rock up in the indoor, I've been really dragging deep, so she was working in like 5 or 6 inches of sand, she didn't hurt herself. Just walked on it for like 50 feet to the barn and out it came, with a hammer however! Well, lunged them and then did baths. It was over 76 degrees with sunshine and a little breeze. But since I have hot and cold water to use, I made a nice warm tubby for them. LOL! Tail and manes are snow white again. Then I washed Beast! Shinning like a cooper penny it is! I'm tired for sure! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

If people would just think before they throw their animals way. We are having a beautiful day. Jax got his teeth done yesterday. Plan on going out and brushing him. He rolled and he looks like pig pen LOL. Should have named him that. So hard to keep white white. :) If it is as warm as they say, maybe a bath. Just don't want to do it too early, our nights are still cool. I send you a friend request and a message. It told me it went to your other inbox as we are not yet friends. Have a great Sat. that's just awful that grasshoppers are so bad that you cant have a garden. does that mean the only cash crop people can grow is hay? would a big fan deter them off your tub garden? it would be nice to get even just a few fresh veggies over the summer.
yeah, until that last 2 inches, we were just getting piddly amounts too. the lake is almost full now, and everything is so lush and green.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well Paige and Indy both put in a good night! Thank goodness, cause I was on edge listening for any distress coming from the barn. Indy didn't need anymore Banamine today. Paige got another 5 cc at 1 pm and by 3 pm I was able to lunge her and do some showmanship. Of course now I have something new to worry about. She stepped on and it wedged in her shoe, a 2X3 in rock! I had to use a hammer to knock it out! Hopefully she won't bruise up and be sore! Like that poor girl! Depending on how things go Saturday, I might ride her. But for sure Indy and Paige are getting baths! Sunshine and supposed to be about 75! Yippy! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Yes she does. That makes sense. Too bad that someone would do that to such a beautiful boy. I often wondered what happen to the horses used for the bronco rides. Then again maybe I don't. My nephew called me at 11:15 last night to tell me he won 1st place in the 2D. He was so happy and excited. I gave him our trainers number so he could give her the good news in the morning. She was very happy. She also said she couldn't believe I kept it quiet. Told her it was really hard, I was so happy for him and he should have the honors. She has only worked with him 3 times and he went up one division. I know it will be what it will be, but I am excited for to have the opportunity. Vicki & Big Jax

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya buddy. Well Dr. Larry came about 1:30 and did coggins and shots. I now have to very lethargic horses and a donkey who acts like nothings happened. Donkeys are so tough! Larry said to lunge them today to get them moving more than just standing in the pasture for a short time. They lunged fine about 3 pm. By 7 pm feeding time, Paige was down for the count and I gave her 7 cc Banamine and Indy wasn't interested in eating either. He got 5 cc Banamine as he did eat half his grain and some hay. Paige had no interest in anything, even her alfalfa! But about 30 minutes after the Banamine she was eating some hay. Also had me put some DMSO on their necks by the shot sites. Here we go again with about 3 days of this. Tomorrow I'll turn them out in the indoor, cause it's going to be raining all night tonight into tomorrow! Darn! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well it was another busy day. Did a few things here to get Paige's stall ready for her. I feel like I want to sleep in there, 5 bags of pelleted bedding, fluffed up to about 6/7 inches deep and smells great! OMG, do I love driving Beast with the trailer. Smaller gooseneck handled awesome. Put the shift lever in Hauling Mode and going down out big mountain, never had to touch the breaks, it did it all! Had a great lesson, we went over my lesson plan for next week. Since Dr. Larry is coming tomorrow for shots and coggins, Paige usually gets a really sore stiff neck for like 3 days. So well be taking it easy then. Then I have a great plan to work on. Didn't get home till like 5 pm. Indy was nickering to her, Bullseye could care less (little stinker). Nice to have her home. Long walks through the mud ought to keep those leg muscles in shape, assuming you don't lose your boots in it, lol. Another clinic in a couple of weeks? You'll just have time to work the soreness out before you do it again, but it sounds so fun. Hope you can get some rides in before then too.
Darn varmit. Wonder what you'll catch? Do skunks tunnel like that? I still haven't bought a trap-im afraid I'll chicken out when it comes to actually shooting a skunk, though I guess, once its trapped, you have to do something with it. And nobody is going to walk up and open the door for it, lol.

I hope the weather improves for you! Mud drives me nuts, and Cimarron seems to be so sensitive to standing around in wet muck - if I don't hose off his legs and thoroughly pick out his hooves every day, he inevitably seems to get rainrot and/or thrush. Of course, he still thinks it's fantastic to roll in the mud. I think it's a ploy to keep me from riding him. :)

Now my beauty shop is like 6 miles from Marissa's, I just leaving to go there and she text me, Paige needs 3 scoops of grain to get through today and tomorrow! So I had to go all the way home and get some grain for her. Paige is coming home tomorrow afternoon. Got to Marissa's and we had some takeout for lunch. Then Paige got a really good lungeing, as Marissa's still not allowed to ride, due to the headaches yet. So I had a really good lesson on a few things I'll be working on at home. Then left there, off to the bank, the mail out my IRS and State Income tax money I owe! OUCH! Then got home and turned Indy out and while he was out, really worked up the indoor, nice and deep and soft! Tomorrow Beast will be making it's first voyage pulling the smaller gooseneck trailer. My apologies for not having been on HC much, taking care of Jack is exhausting, God Bless those who are care givers, took him to the Vet on Monday, our appt was at 10, saw the Dr. at 12, a dog had gotten hit by a car and broke both legs so they were working on the poor guy, God has taught me patience for sure, sat in the Horse trailer with him and just did nothing, how many times can a person just do nothing, it was actually okay, because I was sooooo tired, we are upping his vitamim B, and wormed him for Barber pole worms, if he can't stand up and motivate by the 21st then he wont be, that is when the vet comes out for my wellness spring visit, he did have alot more activity going on this morning with movements, she said he may jut have to manyholes in his brain to recover this time, that is what the disease does, makes holes in the brain, I have been riding just about every night to spend time with my girl and clear my mind, my body is done, Jack is well over 130 lbs and to flip him around several times a day and try and stand him up everyday is harder and harder, on Wens I have a friend coming over to teach me how to load Lilly, she is a Parrelli instructor, her specialty is trailer loading , I am so excited, I may even trailer over this weekend to some friends house and give it a test run if all goes well, sure need the break, love you all have a beautiful day Suz and Lilly

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. What a busy day on my farm! Had some errands to run in town. Then Anthony and his wife came up to de-winterize my LQ Trailer. Didn't go as good as planned. Seems we couldn't get the hot water heater to work. Called my RV repair man, he was here 60 minutes later, ironically he was over working on one of my trainer's trailers. I got him that job last Friday. So he came over and it was a burnt out gas control valve in the unit. All fixed! Then my neighbors grandson came over and unloaded the pallet of pelleted horse bedding for me. Still can't lift that much and that heavy stuff. Then a gentlemen and his friend that I used to work with stopped by, they are moving to South Carolina in two weeks and wanted to say goodbye. Finally at 4:30 I got to sit down to lunch! Yes lunch! Boys were out in the baby pasture too, sunny and 72 degrees, getting ready for the rain tonight however and into tomorrow. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Goodness, that's a lot of groundwork. I bet everybody was a little sore and tired, horses and humans alike. And Cisco took the rope off soon as he got a chance? Smart boy. So glad you were able to go.
Got some more groundwork done on Allie as well. Was doing circle driving and she didn't get her rump out of the way so it got tapped and she gave a little kick at it. No-no little girl, none of that attitude. So the session was a bit longer than I had planned, but ended on a good note. Its raining today and tomorrow, so no horse time I imagine. Hope you recover from the weekend and have a good start to your week.

Come visit me, Allie, congrats Paige- our April queen & BJ and his mom,Gracie.
