How We Met

Bought him out of pity, even though skin and bones, there was just something about him, I couldn't resist when I stopped in to see him and he came over and put his head on my shoulder. Finally found Steven's Natural Horsemanshp and everything finally started coming together for us. He is a Holstiener/Sadd- lebred/Morgan/? crossbred and is a lot of horse for an old lady to ride. Extreme heat warning for the next day or 2. Got Sadie's mister going. Going to leave it on until the heat warning's over, unless she figures out how to rip it down. She's on her second mister, because she tore down her first one and ruined it. Love and a vote.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Today was the triple H day, hazy, hot and very humid! But I got over to work with Paige at our trainers. She had just finished lungeing her when I got there and Paige was wet all ready. Then Marissa rode her and gave her a good tune up! She was not wanting to get off her right leg and just leaning on Marissa's spur, that stopped after a little talk! LOL! Then I got to ride the cool down period. But then Paige was out of gas and looking to just walk and hang her head. LOL! Got home really late and it was very buggie, so the boys stayed in with more hay and in front of double fans. They were happy! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hot weather is no fun, horrible when it hits triple didgits, raining today for the first time in a month, so refreshing, Lilly took a big junk out of her hoof, ( she's barefoot , it does not seem to be causing her problems but I am not riding too harrd and only in the arena since she did it, softer footing, I don't want to mess her up, my farrier is on vacation so we are kinda taking it easy till he can tell me if she is fine. have a great rest of the week Love Suz and Lilly

Here's a vote from Buddy! It's been a little while since we've blogged again, but that's because we have been busy busy! There was the Summer Dressage Festival this weekend, and the previous weekend was the Novice Rider Development show. Coming up on the 25th & 26th is the RCMP Musical Ride, and the RCMP horses arrive at the barn on Wednesday! The last weekend of this month is the Jump For Hope for Kids With Cancer Show. The only thing that didn't happen that the barn was planning for was the Cavalia horses coming to stay, they stayed somewhere else before they came to Edmonton.

In other news I FINALLY rode Buddy after he bucked me off twice that last time I rode him. I put pictures up of it! He's wearing his new saddle pad and fly bonnet that my fiancé bought for me! And, my fiancé and I adopted another pitbull yesterday, she's currently on a trial to see how she will get along with our other dog, and so far she is doing okay so we are hoping it will work out! If not we will have to take her back, but if that happens, they will try and match us up with a dog that will get along with Harley.

Annie had her baby on Friday morning, so now both babies are here. Annie had a filly, and they have named her Redina, I have put up some pictures of her on Buddy's page. I will try and get my other pictures of Bentely to upload, but I think I have to resize them first.

I'm hoping now that I've ridden Buddy again I will get back into it and things will go well and I'm hoping that I can ride him at least once or twice a week until I leave for BC at the end of August for the 2 weeks. I hope everything has been going well with all of you guys and you have gotten a lot of horsey time in!

-Buddy & Jasmine

Come visit me, Buddy *Congrats Darby, July HOTM!*.

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well Paige left this morning for Marissa's. Marissa got here around 10:30 and we got her loaded up. Took about a few tries, she didn't want to leave Indy! But she's all settled in and the farrier was there and going to do her new shoes all around later on. I had to leave after I unloaded her tack and feed. Hung out for a short time, but had to hit the road. Had the chiropractor, my backs been a little achy. It was like a box of rice krispies when he started on me! Snap, Crackle and Pop! Feel so much better now. Got home and Indy was talking up a storm, wanted his honey. Turned him and Bullseye out for pasture time, then he was happy. Gonna be lonely in the barn without her cute little face looking at me when I walk in. Maybe I'll put Indy in her stall, then he can stare at me when I walk in! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

My show this weekend went ok. Rose and I had a pretty bad day. We had a lot of mistakes, but we were able to correct them. So we then just had bad times instead of "no times". We still got Reserve out of 3:) The 3rd place had one "no time" It wasn't too bad of a day. I still enjoyed it.

yes our cooler days are 0ver. Yesterday evening it was 91 but the heatindex was 103. Today the heat index is sappose to be 105 or higher with the humidity---oh well, it has been a nice summer ☆ I had a really nice horsey weekend and hope all of you did as well. I hauled out to the lake with Whiskey Saturday. We rode about 2 1/2 hours. I hosed him down and got him cooled down and headed home. Sunday I got out early and rode Deacon around the home property. Leaving a Monday morning vote for the bowing wonder horse. Rode Gracie yesterday with my niece. Her mare is in heat and was acting like an alien, so Kathryn rode the soup out of her, and hey, if someone else is going to ride for an hour and a half, I am too. Those girls were sure glad to go to the barn and get unsaddled and hosed off. It was fun. Hope you have a good Monday.

Yesterdays riding lesson with the little girls went well. They both wanted to ride at the same time so I saddled both Cherokee and Dakota for them to ride. They were both good boys and behaved themselves. The little girls had a lot of fun and didn't want to leave when it was time to go! They liked Cheyenne too, thought she was very pretty and wanted to ride her too. Nope she's too young I told them! Not much going on today, it finally got hot out and I got to lounge in the pool for a while. Supposed to be hot tomorrow too so I am going to try to get some riding in in the early morning. Have a great Sunday evening!

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Well what a night last night! Darn Butt Head neighbor across the street decided to shoot off aerial fireworks at 9:30. Mind you, only about 400 feet from my barn, kids weren't happy and neither was I! It was one right after the other with a big ending performance! When I cool down, should be in a week or so, I'll have a talk with them about that, it's illegal to do fireworks in our State! Then this morning I was to take Paige to our trainer Marissa for a tune up. No one to help load her in my smaller goose neck straight load. So have to do it tomorrow, Marissa will come up and close the butt bar while I get her head tied up front. But I did get a ride in at home, she was really good. Then they all got out for a couple of hours today, fly sheets on and bug juice and they enjoyed the sunshine and grass. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

DROPPED BY TO SAY HELLO
Remember about my luck...well, we just got all tacked up ant started out to the ring, and yup, you guessed it, rain, what gives, it was just spitting, so we stayed out for half an hour anyway. The rest of the day was off and on drizzle. That is not what the the weatherman said. David made the letters out of feed tub lids and screwed them on to stakes, I'll tell him you all think it looks good. Charlie and I started dressage a couple of summers ago, remember I didn't ride last summer due to my arm, hope we have a good season this year. Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Got an early day ride in on Paige. Duck tape around the heels of her shoe and the three nails are still holding it on. Had everyone out this afternoon for quite some time. It was so nice out, not to hot, no bugs and not a whole lot of sun, so they weren't complaining about being out longer. And Paige came in with that shoe still holding on, lots of duck tape going around from the heels to the toe, so she can't grab it again running, of course today, no bugs so no run! LOL! Got some more mowing done and stopped over at a friends for a quick burger on the barbie! Paige leaves tomorrow for a tune up and right from there to our first show of Aug. Two big ones, one the first weekend and then the major biggie the last 5 days of Aug. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

No, can't turn the heat on in July in Texas, lol. Isn't it funny how in the summer, 65 is freezing and in the winter its a nice warm day? We woke up to a hard steady rain this morning. Yea!!! Its been too dry. Very grateful for it.
Rode BJ yesterday and ponied Gracie for some of that. Did a little groundwork with Allie. She quickly reverts to her pushy ways and needs a reminder that I move her feet, not the other way around. Fortunately it doesn't take much of a reminder anymore.
Hope you have a good Saturday.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.....
Good Morning all, Hi Cheryl, we are waiting for the results of Trev's PETSCAN, he is doing OK, still struggling with eating due to the destroyed salivary glands and lack of interest in food, it will take time I guess... I managed to get thru the first week after vacation. The weather was just stupid this week, cold mornings, warm afternoons, HOT late afternoons and 3 days of showers in the late afternoon. I said before this full time job is gettin' in my way of fun time. No ride this week, and had to be careful of the rich grass because of the humid and wet conditions. We will have a ride this morning before it gets hot. Then maybe run the vacuum over and sit is the sun with a book, eh, sounds good to me. We voted today, Love Donna Lee

HI Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Today we woke up to 55 degrees, made the mistake of walking down to the barn in just a tee shirt, about froze! LOL! Good thing the barn was nice and warm. Today was their day off of working and riding. Left my time frame open to go and get Indy's grain, it came in. And also more gas for the lawn tractor. Came home, turned them out and went to mowing, got the lawn done and all around the indoor done. Of course Paige went to running like a fruit cake and loosened up that same shoe! Why would he only use 4 nails, when the regular farrier uses 6!!! So now we have only 3 holding it on. But Jason will be at Marissa's on Monday and Paige leaves for a boot camp tune-up on Sunday. So she'll be done right, new shoes all around. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

We have been having surprisingly low temps here this summer. Some days it feels more like fall! Right now its only 64 degrees and feels kind of chilly out. Not our typical hot, humid July weather! It looks like it may start getting warmer this weekend though. This morning Ethan woke me up at 4:00 am and said the horses are out! The gate was open for some reason and they were out grazing. I put some feed in a bucket and got them back in without any trouble. Last Saturday some people my aunt knows came to her place and their 2 little girls wanted to ride so I rode Dakota over for them to ride. They had a lot of fun and Dakota behaved himself. They will be coming out to my aunts every Saturday(they are keeping calves at my aunts) and their mom wants to pay me to give them riding lessons. So we will see how it goes! Any tips for what all I should teach them? I have done my 3 driving classes so now I need to wait 6 months and get my 40 hours of practice in before I can try to get my license. I drive to and from church and I am starting to enjoy driving. Got to go now, hope you all have a great weekend!

Wow! I've never heard of Freedom 45 before. I'll have to give it a try - the spray I have been using only lasts a measly three days or so. Thanks!

I've been riding in the evening to beat the heat. Rode bareback through some of the housing developments near our farm yesterday. Cimarron was a good boy, and people kept stopping to take photos and ask about him. The Big C, of course, was more interested in eating grass or, alternately, attempting to rub his head on me. Of course he has to do that in front of other people.

Hope all is well!

Hi Cisco, here's a vote for ya. Had an interesting type of day. It was nice and cool, only 59 when I got up, really nice sleeping weather. And it stayed cool with a nice little breeze. Got Indy worked. The rode Paige in the training bosal, just for something different to do. She's very good in it. Finished up with the usual showmanship work. Put her up and on the wall for 30 minutes to finish cooling off and that's just how show horses do it. Go to walk out of the barn, and just off to the north west, is this big, really big ole black cloud! Now mind you, next was weed whacking and mowing the entire lawn, all while I turned out the kids. Not happening like that! It started to drizzle, then in 30 seconds or less, it's a down pour for 15 minutes. So there went that idea. Went in and made some lunch, it was like 2 pm, my usual lunch time. It clears off, got humid, said of well, I can weed whack at least, it's just gonna stick to me more, and it did. But couldn't mow at all. Did get the kids out for like 90 minutes today, as by then it was nice and sunny again. So I guess the lawn will be tomorrow! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hope you get your rain to settle the dust , our weather is suppose to cool off a little too, hope so, I know all about trigger fingers,,, ouch our oldest son Cameron when he was about 3 had it in both thumbs he would cry unlocking and they just kept getting worse so the surgeon cut the circle that the tendons slide threw to the shape of a horse and no more locking up. So glad Lilly had no issue's from the party feast sure scared me. When I got home after work I always go out to see her, I have a habit of running my fingers through her forelock and giving them a swish to the side, my oldest son had written dunce accross her forehead with a marker thinking I wouldn't see it ... ya right... I think i need to take hime down and write on him but he is 6.4 might be a problem at 5.2 love Suz and Lil
