Hi Meg, here's a vote for ya honey. Sounds like you have it all planned out. I know that Nugget will appreciate it very much. Celery sticks, interesting? I didn't think that horses liked celery. But then again, I've never offered them it either. Carrots, and once had a horse that loved cuccumbers. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

My apologies for not getting the newsletter out yesterday. Our computer stopped working, we took it to get it fixed and discovered it had 7 viruses on it. Hi Meg, here's a vote for ya honey. Is there any shade at all that Nugget can get into during the day? I know that when you're up into the high 90 and heat index over 100, it's nasty no matter where you are, sun or shade! I hope the temps break for her sake. I think making a ice blanket would help her a lot. No I wish I didn't throw that old fly sheet out, I could have sent it to you, it was a nice mesh and let air really flow threw it. Then sewing in little pockets for ice packs would have been great on it. Sorry. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

I had to stop by the store, after work and buy another fly mask. Sassy Miss Sadie is rough on them. I don't like having to keep her beautiful face covered, but the flies here are bad. Got to keep her pretty eyes protected. Aren't horses some of the most gorgeous creatures? Love and a vote.

Hi Meg, here's a vote for ya honey. I know the Wahl Switchblade can be set to run at 5700 RPM, which makes a body clip easier and less stress on the clippers. These are the ones that were recommended to me by a guy who just sells, repairs and does sharpening of all clippers. So look into the speed of the Wahl KM2. I really like Wahl clippers the best since going over to them. That was a good idea to bring out the other water tub and put it in the shade for Nugget, you're a great horsey mom! On the treats, I know you don't feed a whole bucket! LOL! My guys love the peppermint barrels or the Apple and oat treats. They maybe get a total of three a day, that's it! To expensive to go nuts handing out! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Happy Birthday Meg!
Hi Meg, here's a very happy birthday vote for ya honey. I switched from the oster A5 clippers to the Wahl Switchblade and love them. You can really adjust the speed to accommadate doing a full body clip. They run about $140 but are so worth it! My Osters got so hot when I would body clip the donkey it took three days to do him. Now I can do him in a couple of hours. Something to look into. Can you cut the treats in half, I do that with some of them to make the bag last longer. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Happy Birthday Meg!
On Wednesday I had a friend over for the night and for most the day on Thursday. She loves horses and used to have one so she knows how to handle/ride horses. We went riding Thursday morning with Misty and Sierra. My friend rode Misty and I rode Sierra. We rode around the fields on the tractor paths and back to the creek crossing. Misty went on through but Sierra didn't want to get her feet wet. I am planning to take her back there again soon to work on getting her to go across. We had a really fun ride and the mares were good. Later on we also rode Cherokee and Dakota bareback for a while. This morning I rode Sierra again and took her out around a large circular field near the farm. Around the bottom of the field it is dirt but there is corn planted around the top. We were trotting along on a loose rein around the dirt part when suddenly behind us something started crashing around in the corn field. Must have been a beef cow that got out. Sierra bolted into a dead gallop for a ways until we came to some tall brush and she swerved sharply back around. I just barely managed to hang on when she swerved. She settled right down again then and we went on our way around the field. We trotted some more and had a nice little lope. I was glad I was able to expose her to a "scary" situation. It seems like she has been getting bored working on circles and such in the pasture but she really seems to enjoy getting out and exploring new places. She has so far been doing really well not being barn sour or trying to get back to Misty. Any problems we encounter I am able to work her through pretty easily. I am still getting used to the fact that she is now my filly-I feel very lucky!
I have been working on Cheyenne's lunging and she has been doing really well. We are working on voice commands and reversing. She is catching on.
Hope your weekend is going great :)

Hi Meg, here's a vote for ya honey. Glad that Nugget is feeling better and better yet her hair cut is done! Now will you have to shave her anymore this summer? For your sake, I hope not! Nice of Cisco to help. So he's really working it for the treats and extra goodies! LOL! WOW a BCS of 8/9 is chubby! I think mine are about a 5/6. Indy is leaner now that he's on the Triple Crown Lite and you can just see the outline of his rib cage when he's lunged. Paige is a little fuller, but she's working hard and also a Halter Mare besides a rider. Not quite the Halter Fat that some people have them at, but she's in good flesh. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Meg, here's a vote for ya honey. I like the amount of fiber in that Prime Glo you feed. Indy's is 20% fiber, checked his tag. Paige gets the Nutrena Safe Choice Senior, it's 14% protein, 8% fat and only 15% fiber, but it does have all the pro and prebioctics in it. Plus she gets the Alfa-Lox and i'll give her one flake for lunch of either an alfalfa mixed hay or if I can get nice alfalfa, then one thin flake of that. Cuts the acid down for her. Glad that the bute is helping Nugget. Now I just hope she'll stand for the farrier and a trim to help her soles and coffin bone. Sorry you'll still in the triple digits. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Meg, here's a vote for ya honey. OH NO, the D word! DIET! Now did he ask what protein and fat content you are feeding them. Like I have to give Indy the Triple Crown Lite, it's for easy keepers. He gets 1 lb morning and night, he's been on it two years now and looks great. It has 14% crude protein, but only 3% crude fat and like 15% crude fiber which is good for them. Cause with some feeds, if you don't feed what they recomend, then they don't get all the vitamins and nutriments that they need. Found that out two years ago by cutting Indy's grain and he became anemic from not enough proper vitamins. Sorry that Nugget is starting to founder! But at least you caught it in time and hopefully she'll be okay. I wonder if that's what that physic lady was talking about with Cisco sensing something wrong with her? Prayers that all will be okay! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Yes, it would be nice to head west and visit on the way to the Select, but just not this year. Glad that you are getting some light rain, that's the kind that really helps the ground the most. I looked into that Freedom 45, it don't say anything about being good to kill ticks! And we have a tick population here on the east coast.
