Oh, I know what you mean about being a personal driver, I was driving Mikey to his appointments after his tranplants, and then Mike for his when he had total knee replacements. And of course, they never were on the same day nor in the same direction.
I It was nice today, did not get too warm, unless, I was pulling tomato vines and harvesting more hidden tomatoes. Make 8 pints of green tomato relish, and blanched about 4-5 qts of whole tomatoes, but did not can them yet.
Started bringing rabbit cages into the basement so the 3 bunnies can have a easier life, and then one for the guinea pig, Chewy. I fit the cages over cut in half 55 gallon barrels, so the dropping will be collected, sort of composting inside. Usually, I have to empty them about 3-4 times in the winter. Filled fish tank and added rocks, don't think I will add the pebbles and sand this yr. it is so hard to keep clean. Now if I can find my goldfish, all the maple leaves are falling into the pond. Normally, I put a screen over the top, and it makes it much easier.

Wish I could donate you some of our extra rain, thankful, we receive it, but everything is so soggy. Corn can not be picked without trucks and machinery getting stuck.
Nothing new here, except we are getting more RAIN....ha ha, we have been get rain all this week. Today the skys were dark and angry looking, but thankful the rain did not have the same temperament. But very windy and cold earlier in the morning.
This coming week, will be busy, because it is suppose to be nice. But Mike has a appointment with VA on Tuesday. Tomorrow Mikey has labs in Ladysmith, and then Wednesday a appoinment in Eau Claire, except for Ladysmith (30 miles) everything else is about 100 miles one way. Nothing is close to us.

So you have those nasty burdock too. One of the worst plants God could have created, not good for anything, except making horse owners learn new swear words. I use old hand lotion or hair condition to help them slide out.
Guess what it rained most of the day....like it done all week.
Cool and wet, so we cleaned out the garage and shed with Dominic's help. Tristan came later and picked him up, going hunting, and I got another peek at that little Ryder
Rained all the way to Church this afternoon, (we have 4 o'clock Mass) and all the way home. All the time I was doing chores, it rained, and even the horses had enough of it, they were in the barn when I went to call them in. Needless to stay, both my jackets are soaked. Started the pellet stove last night, got down to 32-33, and kept it going all day. Feels good right now, but then I am in the same room as the stove.

Hello from cold wet Illinois!!

It's full on pouring down rain here right now, so no riding for me, but I still had to tend to Allie's fetlock. She got kicked or caught in a fence or some other nonsense, and has a gash right on the joint. It's not affecting the way she moves and doesn't seem to cause pain, but it's fairly ugly and it's not healing. I'm thinking it may turn into proudflesh.
Luna, on the other hand, is enjoying her day off. I think she actually likes the rain. Maybe it makes the grass taste sweeter!
Right now I'm just waiting for the rain to stop!!
I left you a vote, so have a horsey day!

Friday the 13, and nothing bad happened. Even drove up to pick up Buttons, 45 miles, picked up Dominic too. Buttons meowed all the way home, singing the Meox Meox song. Mike had to take my brother in law, to his dr. appointment. For once, the rain stopped for a bit, just long enough for Dominic and me to rake out some old grass and weeds and threw in flower seeds for next yr. Guinea hens all went back to their own house and pen tonight. Chickens and g. hens are all molting, so I have feathers allover the place.

I like to garden, but with all the rain, I just could not keep up to the weeds. And as usually, I make such a mess, while canning. Have bowls and small buckets, everywhere, with sorted tomatoes. Today I tried a new recipe for salsa, the small sample I had left tasted better than the one I made the other day.

That's good new about Scott's dr. appointment
We dropped down to 27, but was 29 at 6 when we got up. Yep, I can see some pumpkins but so many weeds not everything froze. Been throwing in vines to the pheasants and g.hen with keets in the calf hutch. Chewy, the guinea pig claimed lots of the tiny baby squash.
Finally, got to see little baby Ryder. Tristan had today off, so Maya and Tristan brought the baby up. First stop was at my Mom's, (Gr-Gr Grandmother) of course took pictures, and told Maya she could not take any until I was beautiful. I got to hold Ryder first, and of course he pooped his diaper, right away, Maya changed him, and as soon as it was my turn, he cried, because he was hungry. He looks tiny, but next time, I get to see him, I will have a mental picture of him, and see how much he grew.
Still cool outside, sun was not brave enough to come out

How did the dr's appointment go....hopefully all went well.
Well today it did not rain...but everything is soaked and big puddles or small lakes. I see you are getting wet too, we never had the humidity, like you do. But tonight is will freeze, temps were dropping while I was doing chores. Had to blanket the keets cage, and make sure Grizzly, Smokey Joe, and Precious all were in tonight. So tomorrow I could beable to see what I have for squash and pumpkins. Covered flowers that were still blooming, but not my Easter Lilly(s), Planted them after Easter outside. Mikey is still at Fairview Hospital, said he has not eaten since Saturday. Still want to do more test on him. Hope your rain leaves as fast as it came.

I am anxiety to go see little Ryder, but I would rather wait until things settle down for them. I know this weekend, they will have alot of company. Maya has a big family, lots of cousins and aunts and uncles, well, so does Tristan, plus throw in their friends.
Mikey called early this morning, and said he needed to go in for a blood test, he must have been bleeding inside again, because now he is up at the Universal of Minnesota (Fairview), to see what is wrong. He has not had trouble since Feb. 2015, and because he does not have his charger with him, he turned off his phone, so all I can do is pray some more.
Rained, and rained, and then rained some more today. Mud is up to poor little Mistic belly...well nearly. Everything stayed in today, including me.

If "Miss Piggy" would have drank the soapy water, she would have been clean inside to outside...and in between. Hope fencing is not too bad to fix. Are they wooden or board fencing, or metal gates. I have 3 bad bad metal gates, where Boomer, a horse I was taking care of, chewed right threw them while he was cribbing.
Raining again, was soaked a bit ago, and Mike started the pellet stove up. He tried it a few days ago, when it got cold and wet, feels good, but certainly gives off a slight odor.
Once, the tires are put on the car we will see if we can get down to see Baby Ryder. I would just as soon wait until they get all the relatives to visit.....I want him all to myself when I am there. I did offer to trade him for some chickens, even said I would throw in some guinea hens, and one cat...their own cat Grizzly. She said "no deal", but maybe when he is 16-17 she will take me up on the offer. :)

Another wet day, but not showers at all times. Cleaning out another round bale feeder, and pushing the wheelbarrows, across the yard to where the pheasant pen is, so I can plant flowers or something better than weeds. My weed eater is not working, well, neither of them are.
Hopefully, Maya and Ryder get to come home today, but this morning Tristan said baby Ryder has jaundice, so its "iffy".

What kind of trouble did your Lilly get into now.
Well, it is now "officially" I am a great-grandma. Tristan and Maya had their little boy yesterday (3rd) at 11:01 am 7#8oz and 20(???) inches long. Ryder David. I will see if I remember how to add pictures tomorrow.
Yesterday, went for tires on the car, 100 miles is the closest Farm Fleet store. Buy 3 get one Free. Enjoyed the day, but had to play catchup with cleaning out the chicken coop. Only half done. At least all the chicken got to go outside, inside of under the lean-to. But no sign of the fox. Started gathering up leaves for bedding for them, but do not need to put it down for a long while....I hope, calling for frost in a couple of days.

Hope your stomach is feeling better for you. What is it about the name Lilly??? Lilly the calf is always looking for attention too. She figured out how to open the door, because the barn and the shop. So now I have to keep it locked. As soon as she sees me, she start calling to me.
Had thunder and lightening threw the night and then rain on and off all day. I wish I could see the fox to shoot it, but you only see it when the guinea hens let me know it is there, and then by the time I run to the shed to get the rifle, it is gone. That fox makes a round about 5 mile circle. All the farmer see it at one time or another.

Getting a chance to even see that fox is so rare, we have 1 14 acre field with pasture, but the rest of our land is woods. That why I had to try to see if I could get it to come up near the buildings. It likes to hide in the brush and deep grass near the lead off (drain field) or far out in the pasture near the rock pile or trees. Even when I knew it was out there, could not find it until it was about ready to go into the woods. Everyone is on lock up in the pens and coop. We were gone today, last swap meet until next spring. Sold nearly all the guinea keets but 3, as usual just in time to put the money for a new tire or 2, had a flat on Thursday, but can not get anywhere until Monday to get to a Mills Fleet Farm store for tires. Took our old truck to the sale, and we actually made it. :)
I found some new birds I would like to raise, button quail plus another kind of quail, but do not know they correct spelling. Both very tiny birds. I told my sister if she could sell her doves, but if not I would take them, well, she made the Banker happy and got them sold.

Thanking everyone for Mistic vote for HOTD yesterday.
Good thing that "someone" created weekends, so we can do the things we really want to do. I only have time in the evenings to ride, and somedays, I hate to admit it, but I am just too tired to ride. Usually, when I call the horses in for the night, it is nearly dark. Sometimes, like last night, it was. I had to wait for little Mistic, to give her the biggest and best apple.
Today woke up to 34 degrees, and boy that wet grass was cold when I pulled clover for the rabbits and guinea pigs. Usually, I pick it the night before, but sort of did not get that done.

So Cisco is the ref. Oh, I hate that when horses do not get along, usually, I take the lunging whip and run everyone off.
Took out 8 wheelbarrow loads from under the lean-to today, missed yesterday because of the rain. I feel I am getting done, but some loose stuff to clean up.
Really did so many loads because I am on fox watch again. Seen it go after the guineas, so ran it off, and then put guineas all in to their pen. But chickens are allover the place, so needed to stay out in case it came back.

did you tell the chiro. that you had help unloading those 6 bags of feed, from your "good fairies".....named "Me, Myself, and I" I know any dieting is no fun. I made Mike's diet, (to loose weight) sort of fun for him. He said he was eating all the time, but it only was stuff like a 1/4 c of nuts, or bowl of grapes, chopped apples, banana with Cool Whip, popcorn, nothing had much calories, and I made sure he was doing "something" rather than sitting and watching TV. I even had to invent stuff for him to work on....learning saddles. In the end, when he started seeing results, then he tried harder. To go from a tight size 40 jeans to his sexy skinny jeans 35-36, was a great improvement for him. Spirit Wise, and I do see woman, take a second look at him, and I make sure he see it too.

Glad Scott's appointment was good. How is he adjusting?? Is it mostly diet, or need different excerises or ??
Mike must have gotten tired just watching me taken the floor apart, so I "let" him help. He is helping taking the feeders apart too. Just 1 section of the feeder, the 2 of us can barely slide along the ground. They are extra heavy duty feeder from a buffalo barn.
Isn't it hard to think of firewood, when the weather is so nice. Do you have those nasty little tiny flys and now the Japaneses Beetles are starting. Even the chickens and the guineas will not eat them. And if you kill one they just stink.
Getting light rain now, of course when I was doing chores, it had to pour. Seen one little tiny head sticking out from the hen in the rabbit cage, it is a little guinea keet, but Mama is a chicken. She had 10 eggs, so will see in a few days what others look like.

I know what you mean about horse and kicking matches. Once, I took in 2 adult horses, and of course kept them separated, and slowly moved the gates closer to the other horses, well, one day I got home from work, just in time to see the new horse Morgon, built like a small dark brown tank, push over the gate, and start fighting with Crimson, who, was a small Arab. Well, I think he learned not to pick on a small mare again.
Yep, been working on kitchen floor since last Christmas, found a soft spot where tile would not stick down. Well, figured I would clean it up underneath and glue down the tile.....soounds easy and simple, well, that one spot turned into a 10 x 8 area, and still growing. I do a little at a time, when Mike is not around, but the other day, he said, "Well, I see it is not going away, so might as well help." Under the rug under all this is a wooden floor....I peeked!! So hopefully, I can sand it down and have what I always wanted. But the ceiling is 12 ft high, so I will really feel short in there.
Today, we took apart the first round bale feeder, we have 4 of them. 3 were buffalo feeders, so very heavy duty, but each one had something wrong with it, so we have them opened to the outside to move bales in, picture a "C" shape, so gate or panel, the "C" shaped feeder, and then gate/panel again. But all the old hay has rotten down alot, and I just haul 7 loads this morning to "another" area, that I know will just look beautiful planted in flowers, since I already "buried" acorns in there, and will see what comes up in the spring. I had froze and thawed these acorns for awhile, so they might even start this fall, but not likely. Going to visit my Mom now, and see how many more apples she does not want. Peeled 5 5 gallon bucket of apples, frozen the slices for winter. Now I have blisters next to my thumb.

Pellet stove is just a back up, or to use when we have those cold south winds. In the kitchen there is just 1 short heating pipe for a room that is 12 high, 15 x 13 and no insulation on the north walls, which is all built in metal cabinets. Original ones from when the house was first built. They always had a wood stove in the kitchen, and as I tear up the old flooring, I can see why they built right over the top....hot coal marks all over the floor.
Very hot today, not sure if it feels that way because I am haul manure from under the lean-to. Usually I do 3 loads then stop, today, I did 3, then peeled a ice cream pail of apples sliced, and went out and did 3 more wheelbarrow full. Running out of room, because Joe's old truck is parked there.
We put the steers and horses in the small pen by the garden, because grass there is getting so long. Nice and cool there because of the trees, but no electric fence, and one steers always manages to hook his horns on the wire, and take it down, so I have to be outside while they are in the pen. Just put them in, because another hour will have to start getting ready for Church.

We had lots of storm warnings for just north of us. Mid-morning sky got very hard, and had thunder and lightening show, some rain but not long. Then it got HOT, about 80. Went and picked apples by my Mom, and visited with her awhile. So all afternoon, I peeled apples, lots of the smaller apples went straight to the horses. Lillie's I am still chopping up, and of course the rabbits and guinea pigs enjoy them too. I froze about 25 qts, in ice pail pails.

I decorate simple, mostly natural things like pinecorns, leaves, brown jars, colorful rocks and of course my little critter statues like the squirrels, and fall birds. Too much grass is growing there. So tomorrow will try to dig out some of the plants, and start that bed over. Long day today, my eyes are tired. I am afraid that I did not get to go to the Neilsville Horse Sale, The Banker left me enough money to the Church collection box, and he left me Dominic as my baby sitter. He knew Dominic did not want to go, because today is the 1st day of bow hunting season. But I did enjoy the day with Dominic.
Yesterday I had to check out Dominic deer stand, to make sure it was safe for him. Today he was down, and helped him feed deer, and of course just wondered around in the woods for a long while.
It was funny this afternoon, I ask him why he never wants to drive the truck, and he said something, like, GrPa keeps telling me everything I did wrong. So, I said, he's not here, just go drive around the lawn and back yard, well, 30 minutes later he is still driving around and acting like he was having alot of fun. Lawn has some well traveled circles on it. He even was backing up very straight, and going good around the backyard where there are lots of flower beds. I am usually the one who has to teach them to drive.....to nerve racking for his parents and Mike.

Mike is finally feeling better, went to another funeral today, feel sorry for his brother who lived in Milwaukee, (5-6) hour drive one way, who was up here at his son's cabin on Labor Day 4th, had to come back up for funeral last Friday, then back up here for this one.
Tomorrow Mike is going with Mikey and Jennifer to northern Michigan beautiful fall colors are nearly here, and will be a bit more closer to the lake. Traveling up to Munsing, right on the lake, and then coming home Sunday threw Powers where his sister lives. They have been planning this trip since they went last fall. I want to go to the Neilsvilles horse sale on Saturday, it is a 3 1/2 day event, but I know I should not go. Usually Mike goes along, so he can see the High Grounds, which is a VA memorial to all the wars, it is so neat to see. Glad Scott is improving, still will send prayers for both of you.
Brake line broke on the car, when we came home from the funeral the other day. Just got it back tonight, because the other side needed fixing too. Not a regular garage/repair shop, because he works at a factory too. But he is a good guy, I always bring him some fresh eggs too. Yesterday, I did not even get on HC, by the time I turned the computer on it was time to go to bed.

I feel like a little kid, who wants to still play outside long after dark. Been so nice these last few days, I take back all the "nasty" things I said about Mother Nature. Been picking apples from drying for the winter for horses, washing jars for making apple jelly, (figured I would wait until a rainy day to do it), still working on cleaning under the lean-to and hauling it to the flower bed I am making. Been finding lots of baby trees in the woods, so they begged me to take them home, and replant them....I swear I can hear them calling me, maybe the wood fairies!! Went to a garage sale today, lots of horse tack, like I needed more, but did get a few nice deals. Spent my allowance for the rest of the year. Moved the guinea pigs outside a few days ago, so they can enjoy the breeze and fresh air. Lots easier to clean the cages everyday too, the plastic bottom ones, I have to wash and dry them. Once they have to stay inside again, will use woodchips for them. Sadie and the kitten, Precious, and very much interested in them. Sadie will not hurt them, but Precious is such a naughty little girl. Grizzly and Smokey don't even bother them outside.

Well I am getting on HC, before the "bewitching hour" today, but not by much. Hope all your families and friends are safe from Irma terrible wind and rain. Such a Witch she was.

Not really sure the mama guinea hens "snuck" those extra eggs, but I marked all the ones I gave her with a big X. Cleaned guinea pig cages today, tomorrow, will put them in a rabbit cage, since the plastic ones just do not seem to work as well. And it will be nice outside, so Ghost and Chewy can see what the real world is like. Started cleaning out chicken run today, 4 wheelbarrows full, but most of this stuff is light, just mixture of dry straw, sand, and of course left over feathers, with no chickens attached. Just more filling for the latest flower bed. It's right next to the rabbit cage, so Velvet thinks I need to bring her a handful of grass or a apple each time I dump the wheelbarrow. She said she is a growing girl, which she is, a Giant Flemmish. Cleaned out the little room, inside the chicken coop too, mostly sand and dried lawn clippings, plan on putting up roost and feeders next.....I sister has too many doves, and is giving me 2 babies or young ones. It will also be home for any young chicks because there is a heat lamp all set up already. I must have done something inside today, oh, yes, I moved the table over a bit so Mike could work on the pellet stove....ha ha, well that was work. I did make supper, lunch and breakfast too for him. and I will get at dishes tomorrow morning before he gets up. I think!!

Sending prayers to all the people in Florida. How is that awful storm effecting your area?? Moved the baby guineas in the house out to the shed. They are just out growing everything. Been staking Lilly out so she can eat my clover patch which was getting too long. I keep it just for the rabbits and now the 2 guinea pigs, yep, suck the 2 of them in. Both are males about 1-1 1/2 old, one solid white with gray ears, and the other is white brown and black is name is Chewy. Other one is Ghost, only because I can not remember what she said. She is going to school and could not take them with her, so Dominic told her I would take them, and he must have been right.

After a chilly wet start to the day, it turned into a beautiful day. Decided to move the guinea hen and her babies into the calf hutch, such a simple sentence, turned into to a long project. After removing all the things, like tarp, boards, and piles and piles of weeds, we finally got the rabbit cage inside the kennel, of course all the babies are out in the long grass and weeds next to the garden and the brush pile. Finally, she calmed down and most of the babies went into the cage, but then went out just as fast, the fit threw a 1/2 space. Last babies I manage to just catch and we got her into the hutch and I had counted 15 babies while rounding them up, but I knew that was not right, because she only had 15 eggs to start with, and found 4 dead ones half out of the shell, and threw out 6 other eggs, but I counted right 15 babies, so I figured the other guinea hens were donating her eggs, when she got off the nest, they are all twins!!! But now they are safe, nothing can get into the hutch with the door closed, and daytime, I put up the screen so the have fresh air. Neighbor ask if I had enough apples, and with horses I told him, can never have too many, so picked up 5 sacks of apples, we also feed the deer so some will go that way, and the rabbits enjoy them too. Trying to get Lilly to eat one, she sure wants to, but would rather just suck on my hand....or try to eat the bread out of my pockets.

well, guess what we had for temps this morning...27, but it warmed up quickly, next time I looked it was 35, but the whole day was nice. Went to a funeral, Mike's cousin, at 10, and were back by 1. Worked outside, after to let chickens and guineas out, because I can not be all over at once. Its hard to watch behind the barn, and that is where the young chickens go, but did let everyone one by 6, and stayed out behind the barn pulling weeds, and cleaning up after Lilly. Pheasants are getting so pretty, well the males are, I have 2 males and 2 hens. Still trying to count the baby keets with the hen, they were all laying in the sun, when I went to feed them, thought I could sneak up and count, but Mama warned them, and they all scattered, then its like counting ants. As soon as we are over this cold spell, I plan on moving the whole family to the calf hutch, untill the are bigger.

Hope the "bone cracker" helps your son out, I know mine has been wonderful. Farrier was out today, everyone was so good, even Sunset didn't give me any problems catching her. She did have a nasty tangle in her mane, I worked on it a bit, then Ashley said you really need a detangler. I had Lasersheen, but she didn't didn't want any part of it. Took a few trys, a couple of small rears, but finally got in a couple of squirts and the tangle combed out. Really chilly for us this AM, 55.

Come visit me, Mystic, Cisco, Angel Meg, Bo (RIP) and Jazz THANKS FOR HOTM! & Angel Nugget.

Rich has some sort of implant in his back that give little electric shocks "here and there", not really sure how often. Joe's just happened in August and is going to P.T. and "the bone cracker" still works but light duty.
Rained again today, trying to get stuff cleaned up in the house, said I was going to clean out drawers and cabinets, get half way done, then Mike needs help with his Netflix can not remember his password, nor how to do it. Figured it out, but by then lost interest in the cleaning and when outside, because the sun was shining. So long run, did not get any thing done today, but there is tomorrow!
