I bet it feels nice to have someone like Steve lookout for you when telling the truth about riding or a horse. I am sure he will help you find the right home for Sunset.
Lots of short runs today. Had to get some more pepper plants seems the ones I had planted "drown". But no pepper plants at a little local greenhouse, so will have to check big box stores. Or else just plant the tiny ones I have. Did buy pansy and a few other flowers.
Stupid fox was after a guinea this afternoon, out in the field seen the guinea jump up and fox right after it, and me right after the fox. Chased it across the field nearly to the rock pile, where it must have dropped it, it did die, but at least she will not be a meal for the fox. Quickly I moved all the rest of the guineas into the pen and rounded up the hens outside.

Will you at least get to try out Sunset?? I know you will find the best of best homes with "legal" buy by rights. I know that really sucks, but think positive about it. Another horse right now really needs your help.
If I would have thought of digging a "big" hole this spring right in the middle of the lawn, we could have our own swimming pool. Water disappears fast, because the puddles, that I just had to walk threw this morning to feed calves, is now gone. Rained all night, sounded good on the tin roof, and still showers "here and there" called for. I was just being able to walk in the garden after last Sunday & Monday's down pour....now there are little puddles in all my foot steps. Horses got another small pasture made, so happily eating down the long grass. Happy Father's Day to all the 4 legged Dads out there, and the 2 legged ones too!!

I guess I spend tooooo much time working and never really get to do the things I want to do. Barely, have time to ride, then it is only bareback around the pasture.
Clean out 2 smaller calf pens today, 12 wheelbarrow full, did not have a place to put it, so just used the spot where the old hay left from winter feeding was sitting. Hot today, Mike had to take my brother in law to dr. appointment in Eau Claire, so they met up with Tristan and had lunch with him.
The guy gave me chicken eggs to hatch for him, so far he has 4, and my sister gave me the pheasant eggs, looks like 10 so far.
Rained again today, that make5-6 inch of rain in 2 days, radio station in Ladysmith had 4 1/2 yesterday alone. Can not even walk in the garden to check little tomato plants, but I can see the weeds are doing fine.

Very stormy wet day, still pouring out right now, with lightening and thunder, the sky looks very angry. But the ground was getting dried out, so rain is good. Farmers here are still planting.....and already cutting first crop hay....go figure. Lots of fields might not even get planted.
Went to Wausau, (100 mile one-way trip) for grandson Richard's birthday. He was showing me his lizard, and of course his turtle, General. Started raining and storming just after we got there. Then coming home around 3 stopped in at a graduation party in Tomahawk, more good food, and company. Took forever to get chores done, and lock everything up tight, see a fox right behind the barn last night. Collected guinea hen eggs, because the same hen that hatched out chicks in March wants little babies ones, so I fooled her and gave her guinea hen eggs. She is in one of the rabbit cages, high off the ground in the shed. Her young chicks want to sit with her on the nest, so that would not work too well. In a week I will give her 2 or 3 chicken eggs. Now it is really storming out, lost the internet before.

Hot here today, one calf will not eat, coughs alot, so another sick little girl, Mike gave shots, and Vit. B, I fed her with a smaller bottle and easier soft nipple, she did drink nearly 2 qts, and I just came in to make dinner, then give some electrolytes this afternoon. Other calves had this too, did not want to eat for a day or so. Horses are standing in the door way sleeping in the breeze. Put the pheasant eggs and a guy who ask me to try to hatch some of his eggs for him. Hopefully, all 24 of his will hatch.

It is nice to be back on Horse Channel. If they do finally shut it down, I might as well not have a computer. My opening home page is to HC, which Dominic thinks is so funny.
Tomorrow is going to be hot, so cleaning out horses water tanks, and will fill them tonight. Have to make sure "everything" has two or three dishes or pans of water, and bunnies have frozen jugs to help keep cool. Their cages are under trees so it is cool there, and also breeze can flow under them because of the metal wire bottom of the house.
Mike has to march tomorrow for the VA for a parade and Sunday will be going to Wausau for grandson Richard's birthday.

Yep, horses and mud always seem to go together, just have to roll. Maybe they are smarter than us, mud makes them beautiful.
Nice out today, just got in from chores, and "trying" to figure out what to do first, in the house. Got dishes done, put a batch of cookies in the oven, washing baby bottles, cat dishes, and the dog's too. Starting a load of clothes, bleaching out the towels and cloth used to wash and wrap Lillie's ankle. Still puss coming out. Thinking that the cuts, where it comes out, and closing up, which causes it to drain less and less, then it builds up again. Hate having cut it open again, but it really is only about 1/2 an inch. Mostly it is soft behind by the dew claws. Molly seems worst at times, other times is up and eating. Wish she would go out side and lay in the sun shine or even eat grass. Will have to let the steers into that pen, so that they eat the longer stuff, and new tender shoots the calves will eat better.

I am the only one who can keep up to my chickens eggs and zucchini...ha ha. I feed the yolks back to the chicks or to the calves in their milk, I like the whites but not the yolks. Give lots of them to family too. I was selling a few for hatching rather than eating.
Beautiful out to day, nice light wind too, so clothes are drying fast. Mostly winter jackets and now some blankets.
Horses are standing in the barn keeping cool, arranged by size, and Jack is stuck inbetween them, out of order.

Boy it went from winter jacket to bikini weather in one day!! 72 right now. Bright and Sunny, but calling for rain tonight. Want to finish planting the garden, picked up some more cuc/pickles, carrots....horses and rabbits told me 2 rows simple will not be enough. Still have to get summer squash in and potatoes, and set onions. Washing clothes so taking a break while I heat water for Lillies leg. Molly, is a bigger calf, was about 3-4 mts when we got her, (same time as the little ones), and she had pneumonia, been treating her since we got her. Well, I was just reading the penicillin is not the way to go, so started using a different kind, plus I have like "air power" and some meds for pneumonia in horses, did a lot of on line reading and calves can have it....just has a different name. Of course how do you get it in to Molly, if something is in her water or feed, she will not eat it, so I soaked a bun in milk and made her a sandwich. Gnats are terrible right now so I stopped for a bit, ( I was pulling grass and clover for the rabbits, and weeding flower beds at the same time). Break time is over!!

I usually have about 25 chickens, some are old and stopped laying aready, I know 2 are over 12 yrs old. Some have just started laying. I collect about 12-14 eggs a day, so that how many are paying for their food. The rest are just slackers...:)
Planted tomatoes plants after tilling it all up. 26 of them, and 12 pepper plants, lettuce, dills 2 packages, one for the butterflies, one for pickles. Some cucumbers, and nearly got the squash in, but I seen Molly was having a hard time breathing out in the sun, and it was even hot inside the hut, so I put her in the shade, and gave her some meds for breathing. Not sure why she is not responding to her penicillin. She has such a cough.
I will put chicken eggs in if they are different than the chickens I have now, but I am going to get a different rooster, instead of this black one with fancy hair due. I have a Braham, but the other chases him away all the time.

I think I am done hatching chicks, except for the ones still in the incubators. Guinea hens are laying a few aday so collecting those and going to start the other incubator up in a few days. Put the calves, Molly, Beauty and Panada in that pen and the other 3 can go out the back of the shed into a smaller pen. Helped my Mom dig up plants this afternoon, ran and got her a lawn mower belt. Still have to round up baby chicks to make sure they all get inside, and call horses and steers in for the night.

Another long day. Mother Nature is still "crying", she just does not want to stop. Have not even got the whole garden tilled up yet, not to even mention planting.
Been hauling loads of calf bedding, mostly sawdust out, and new put down, and an hour later, they are looking wet again. Used the last of my sawdust. Everyone is back to eating good, Lilly fetlock joint is still leaking puss, but not alot. I am washing it up like 3 times a day, usually when I feed. If this rain keeps up, they will never get to go outside to their pen and eat grass.
Moved the big fluffy bunny, who's name is Bun-bun, (Dominic did not name her) out to a 2 story rabbit pen. She seems to like it outside better than the house. The other two Thumper, and ??? (I forgot what Dominic said he named it) are in a inside pen.
Dominic went home this morning for school, then Mike picked him up this afternoon, took him his favorite supper, fried potatoes with cheese, and tonight his parents will be home. From the looks of his clothes he had fun....muddy and rips in his jeans, cap all mud too, of course he was riding the 4-wheeler. Sadie is just sad today, goes and sleeps on his bed. She is even getting along good with that tiny kitten, Precious. But school will be finished on June 2nd, so we will get to see him alot.

I have had calves in worst shape. I keep remembering they are "sale barn" babies.
Seen a lot of chickens, chicks, geese, ducks, specially those cute little ones, turkeys, goats, and another animal, not a ferret, or gerbil, but sort of like them. Lots of neat wood working crafts. Tired, left at 3;30 and with the fog, did not get there until 5:30. Sold all my chick that I brought along. Did alot of bartering, people wanted 4 dollar bird, 6 week old ones for a dollar. It cost nearly a dollar a week in feed and heat lights, but at least the Banker was satisfied.....then we went to Farm and Fleet. Made 130 and spent 129 on milk replacer and meds for the calves, cat food, and some baby kitten food.
Took Dominic along, and I must have taught him very well, he came home with a free baby kitten, and lop ear bunny, both of those were free, and one little solid black bunny with one white dot on its nose. Since it is a male, he was only 5 dollars. Had fun talking, day started on rain and cool, but then turned hot. Seems funny not to have so many pens of chickens to feed. I feel like I forgot to do "something".

Quick vote, while Mike is putting VA flags up on the graves for Memorial Day. Have another sick calf...Scooter, she was sick with a cough and cold....snotty nose, (along with Beauty and Molly), I think she is having a relapse, because yesterday morning she ate good, and ran around while I cleaned pens up a bit. Can not do much, without my wheelbarrow, which Mike has to put on new tire....I over worked it.
Gave her shots, and electrolytes, hard to get her to drink, but I can squeeze a bit into her mouth and let her drink like that. She just drank 3 pints, but far cry from her normal 4 qts a feeding. Lilly's foot is alot better, still get little bits of puss out, but as she walks more on it, she is forcing it out herself. Of course now I am out of SMZ too.

Oh, that is funny about doing dishes in the bathroom!! I just call it roughing it, when we do not have hot water. I usually, have to wash my hair in cold water.
Lilly's fetlock joint is a lot smaller, still has puss, but now it is just a little on each side, then bloody stuff. Still wrapping in it a towel(s) 3 times a daily for Epsom Salt soak, but she is eating so much better, 4qts am, at least 2-3 around 2 in the afternoon, the 3-4 in the evening. Eats grain when I sit there and hand feeder. She is walking on the leg, instead of hopping. Gave her a few days off with no shots, then tomorrow will start pencillian again.
