The little guy is due end of September. She will have a baby shower August 19th. We have not know that long ago, but I knew something was wrong with him, just the way he sounded and talked. Afraid to tell us, because he did not want his parents to know....yet, he said he would call them after the baby was born from the hospital. He does not alway get along with his Dad, because of Joe's temper, and he sure did not get that from me. Tristan has always been able to talk to me, even if it was nasty or bad, I was always the person he went to when he wanted to talk.
Here is a Monday vote on Tuesday, as usual late and getting later. Never seem to have enough time. Opened the yellow incubator this morning to turn the eggs, and I had a chick....Wow big surprise, because these were suppose to be guinea eggs, and not due for another 6 days. Somehow I must of stuck a chicken hen in there, poor thing never had any lockdown time. Now, what to do with a single chick, besides enjoy the little thing.

Have to read to the end....
I think some of the calves are twins or "free-martins", and usually they can not be bred. But don't think all of them were. Lilly does not have any more infection in her fetlock joint. Looks a bit bigger than other one, but she runs on it, infact she runs way to fast when I was trying to catch her the other night. Still I check it out daily, making sure no infection gets started again.
We have to buy a water softener first because our water is terrible....very hard water with iron and other minerals. Then we plan on getting a hot water heater, "hot water demand" But first we have to save up enough to buy them. Seems like something is always breaking down or needing fitting here. Truck needed 4 tires put on, lucky thing my brother had 4 he was trying to get rid of, and they just fit. Car had a flat tire, and needs the muffler replaced.
We have been supporting Tristan for the past yr while he went to linesman school, graduated, and had a job, but could not pass his physical because of a shoulder injury he got while wrestling in highschool. Finally he found a job, in the electrical department at Menards, not the best, but it pays and soon he said he can take over the bills.....BUT, now we found out his girlfriend is excepting, but I told him he did not make any mistakes that has not been made many times before. So now I will be a great grandma. :) Still smiling.

Hot today, cut berry pick off early. Had to take feed to the other 4 calves at Jennifer's and Mikey's barn. Sure have grown some and getting fatter.
Just finishing up a few things outside, and now its nearly time to get ready for Church/Mass. Feel like taking a cool bath, well, since we do not have hot water, unless I heat it on the stove, like I do for dishes.
Still have not caught the fox, nor even seen him, so guineas and chickens do not get to go out when I am not outside with them. I know it is the same fox that has been seen around other neighbors, about a 1 or so away....maybe someone else took care of it. Hope so, because if I live trapped it, I would have to take it far, far, far away.....maybe send him to my brother in Alaska. :)

Sorry, I have not written many comments lately. Just been busy. Glad to hear you are getting some time with the horses even if it is short. Been hot here and dry, but in the southern part of Wisconsin they have floods, Mother Nature just does not want to share, gives it all or nothing. Gardens weeds are growing "overtime", hard for me to keep up. Dominic has been here last few days, and I forgot how much growing boys can eat. But he works hard, just helping me out. Trimming trees, and of course always cleaning or remaking something. Going threw tack to take to the swap, now with out the rescues babys, I use to have, I certainly do not need 10 leather halters, I always sent horses to their new home with a rope, a halter and a leather halter too. If they were kids, then a book about horses, sometimes stuffed toy horses, a bucket of brushes, and things the horse would need. Getting dark and still need to count the guinea hens and lock them up. Babies are all growing and eating good. Have two hens that each hatched out 5 keets and I did give them some chicks too. Plus I have 5 of each in the house, still in MaMa grade, so need the light yet, plus incubators are full.

I know you guys will find this funny, but I wish it would RAIN!!!
Here it is nearly 10pm, and I am just eating supper. I need a break. Been picking raspberries, weeding the garden, carrying out 5 gallon buckets of weeds for the chickens and guineas to pick threw. Finished cleaning up the calf pens, and moved little keets, baby guinea hens, out to the next pen. The 29th is the next swap meet and want to have chicks and keets, plus some saddles and tack ready for that.
garden is actually dry, weeds are just breaking off, instead of being pulled out. Been hot and humidity is very high. But this morning was just right, 47 degree

I know I feel so bad because I could not save that little kitten. Sure was marked different, and at night if I shine the flashlight its eyes were red. Dark other wise.
Hot today, and weeding in the garden, I think the weeds are growing faster than I can pick them.
My sister was home for a few days, worked on a playhouse my brother is making for his granddaugther's 4th birthday. We were painting butterflies, dragonflies, vines, flowers, worms, snakes, ants bugs on the outside. Very cute.
Then Mike and I picked raspberries at Mom. 10-12 qts, just frozen them for now, but will make jelly or jam out of them.

Sad news the little kitten that Mikey and Jennifer found passed away last night while I was holding her. I just come in from burying her, and planted flowers on her little grave. Best and prettiest flowers grow on my pets graves. They are watered by tears. She was eating so good, and then last night just did not want to eat or drink. I was holding her and rubbing her tummy, when she died. Have not told Mikey or Jennifer yet. Hate that part.

It sounds like the mustang went to a good home then. I was worried when I heard the low price. I get too attached to all my horses, even though I know, when I took the colts off the meat truck, that I could not keep them. Only the ones with health issues did I keep.
Nice outside today, going to rain sometime this afternoon. Was busy moving bigger chicks to bigger pens, so everyone is playing moving pens again. I have to keep the hen that hatched out guinea keets, locked up in the shop, mostly so that the keets do not go to the adult guinea hens that are running around outside.

A lady neighbor fell down and broke her leg, after she went to the hospital, they told her she had Stage 4 bone cancer, and could not do anything for it, (the cancer). Most likely more to that story, but it was what Mike had heard.
Temps here 3 days ago, were in the low 80's, yesterday and today, it was 44-47 in the morning and hardly got above 56, so it was good weather to weed the garden, since the gremlins like to get those weeds growing. And they were bad, I fill up 5 gallon buckets, and then feed to the guinea hens and chickens. Still not done, but at least it is a start.
Not one of Burt's eggs hatched, none were fertile, again. Now, I am waiting on the other incubator, with guinea hen eggs, so far nothing, but not giving up yet.

There are 3 Farm/Fleet stores around here, each one is about 90 miles away. Prices there are great for big bags of pet food, we have feed stores locally, where we bye 100 pound bags of grain. Need guards for the haybine, in hopes of really getting to use it this yr. Fun just to look.
Burts eggs hopefully will start hatching today. I put some of mine in and I have 4 already out. Mine were straight out of the nest, still warm eggs, so usually they do not go the full 21 days.
Went to a cook out last night for supper, and as usual ate too much of good food. I made homemade potato salad, and must have been eatable, because most of it went.
Poured early this morning, rain sound good on that tin roof

That price was Terrible, with a capital "T". I know he enjoys working for training, but still. All I can hope for that he went to someone who will really appreciate this wonderful horse. I hope he wrote out buy back contract.
Been sending out votes, but it is so late at night when I get time to leave comments, that I just run out of energy and time. Went to Marshfield yesterday, about or nearly 100 miles, but that is one of the closes Farm and Fleet stores around. Needed Dog, cat, horse, calf, rabbit, and chick feeds and supplies. Plus some guards for the hay bind, and it was raining, but day actually turned out nice.
My brother Phil and his wife came home yesterday from Alaska, so having a small cookout tonight, he will be here about a week to 10 days, so will get time to visit again.

Over all the experience for Steve I bet was wonderful. I still did not get to FaceBook, and look up the videos. Will see if I have time tonight after doing chores. I sent out votes yesterday morning, and never even got one comment in.
Rained here again today. Just got home from visiting with Mom, my brother in law, Dennis, just got home from the hospital. Was there since Friday. He had transplants, kidney and pancreas, about 20 some yrs ago, and on right he was having sharp pains where they put his pancreas. He had to be on some medicine 6 times a day for 48 hrs, then if no fever, an oral pill for 24 hrs. Certainly, do not want him to loose his pancreas.
More rain in the forecast, and then I hope a few dry days so farmers can get hay in. We always have to wait until someone is done, so they can do ours.

Really hoping, more like praying that Steve comes in real good place or rating. First calf "String" did not want to go into the trailer, tried lifting, and it's like she would just bend in half. Back to the ditch, but still too big of space, finally put a board up not real wide, but got her in. The other 3 just walked right in. Jennifer and Mikey will just pay us back for the milk replacer we brought and grain. Lilly will stay until healed up, or she just might stay permanently.
I clean about 8 wheel borrow loads out of wet old bedding today, did not get it finished. A friend he worked with years ago birthday is Sunday....80 yrs old, and his son invited us to a small birthday party at their cabin, so had to run get "funny" old man card for him. Came out of Walmart to a down pour, and thinking all those clothes on the line are getting washed again. Thunder storms last night, and then Mother Nature put on a late 4th of July fireworks display. Beautiful, but I fell asleep, so must have been boring.

Hope Steven has a safe trip. Long ride.
Raining again, with storm warnings out. Sky does not look like it wants to "cry" again soon. Calves did not go to Jennifer's barn/farm last night, but going to try to do it tonight. She has to take care of her brother Jason, who had a head injury about 10 yrs old and left him like a 12 yr old. Plus she has her other son Zach to cook for in the evening, not that he is not old enough, but he starts work at 5 in the morning and does not get home until 7 at night.
I did get 30 keets out of the last hatch, a few did not make it, and sold 10 last night. I put the other 4 with the small ones, and they seem to get along OK. I worried about the older ones picking on the littler ones, but seem like the other way around.

Allie's Mom just had to sneak a peep at the weather station. I thought it was left over fireworks early this morning, while letting Whisper, Willow and Mistic out in the north pasture, but it was thunder, and before I got calves out, and chickens in the outside pens, it was just pouring out. Did not last long, just enough to get me wet.
Hope your 4th was fun or at least did something to enjoy it.
We went for a ride threw a firelane which now is a regular road Stop to see Mom for awhile and took the backway, and seen my cousin was fixing up her mother's house, so stopped and visit for a bit. Set guinea hen eggs in the incubator, so they will be hatched by August swap meet. They will be hatched I think by the end of July, but I do not like selling them at a day old, because babies ones die so easily, if too cold, too hot, not enough air or water, so I just as soon keep them home in MaMa's class, until they are older. Sold 10 of them today, just in time to buy more feed.

Hope everyone has a safe 4th of July and enjoy and appreciate our freedom.
My critter heard is growing, 14 new keets or baby guinea hens. Once the guinea hens decided to lay, its like tooooo much!! Set 65 eggs just a bit ago, after clean up the incubator. I left the last 2 hatch-lings in over night, turn off the heat lamp early this morning, and put them in, with the confusion of no light, the other did not even notice the new comers. Sometime they start picking on them.
No plans for today as far as parades go. Need to take the Bun-Bun rabbit and put her back in the rabbit cage, had to put a rooster in there, then I can put the 4 chicks and 2 pheasant babies in the 2 story rabbit cage, and put the keets in the large tote. Musical cages game....as they grow, the get bigger cages and more room. Let the chickens out for a bit last night while I did chores, still have not seen the fox around, but I am sure he is there. Mowed down weeds in the pastures, then the banker and the mower "pooped out".

How are you doing today, I bet missing Bo. I know when Crimson died, I would always be waiting for her to still come in and would catch myself, going into the pastures or shed to check on her.
Roosters are now gone, and I have a few extra open pens, to place younger chicks in. Guineas have hatched and some are hatching today. I have 15 in first batch and about 11 so far in the rest of the batch. I put extra eggs in after a week, so when first half were already hatched, and taken out, it would be time to put in second half in lockdown. It took a lot of "thinking" to get the days right, but wanted to try it. Instead of 48 eggs all at once. Its not so much of a mess under the wire, which causes mold, bacteria to build up, and so many chicks die off, just before they hatch.

So sorry to hear about Bo passing away. Good ones always go first.
Allie has to tell her Mom to stop looking at the weather map, because it is raining again, but oh, so softly. Just coming in from locking everyone up, was going to hang out one more load of clothes, but I guess not, unless I do it a bit later. There was a plane crash about 3 miles from here....made national new. No one made it. At Catawba, on Cty Rd 111.
Parade was short, and lots of candy thrown. Richard came home with his pockets full, plus his Mom. Leslie brought a homemade blueberry/cr cheese pie, so now Mike wants a birthday next week. They did not stay long, Sadie and Lucy, (their dog) got along great. Richard got to watch a baby keet, (baby guinea hen) hatch out. So he named it Silver, because it will be a gray one.
I broke down and gave Lilly and String a bottle tonight, it was only warm water, but they sure enjoy sucking. After drinking 6 qts each, their tummy don't look so thin.

That must be so heartbreaking for you to watch Bo. I know I felt the same way knowing that Crimson would not make it threw another winter. Give her lots of loving.
Rounded up roosters this morning, Have most of the young ones in a big cage, but nearly adult ones need to be either separate or in with one that they get along with. Today is Mike's birthday, he said (in the middle of the night) when I wished him Happy Birthday, he went to bed a young man and next day woke up old...I said just a tiny bit older. So, I made a cake this morning, did not have enough flour, so used cornstarch, sort of dry, because I forgot all the eggs. So I made jello and poured it over the top, got out strawberry homemade jam, and will decorate it up. He will not even know I goofed again. I am not a cook.
Tonight he has to pick up flags from cemetery, they put down on Memorial Day and then go to the park and set up for bingo. Tomorrow he will march in the parade, and grandkids Camille and Richard will come up from Wausau to watch him. They do not like coming here, because I have flies, and mud, and chickens, and cows, and horses, oh, they do like Mistit, but their Mom is afraid that Willow and Whisper will bite their hands or heads off. They might get dirty too. or catch some terrible disease from our house or get fleas and lice and I forget what else.

Another wet day. Calf pens in the shed are getting so wet. They do not like staying outside, even if they have a hutch out there. We took the outer layers off a round bale to use for bedding. Poor things, without their daily bottles of milk, they act so miserable, but they were born before Easter and old enough. They get all the grain they want, but just want Mom to feel sorry for them....and it is working.

Well, the last few days are like fall, remember that "one" day I mentioned we had nice weather, since then it has been rainy, cool and windy. I would "hide" my new horses usually baby ones, in the back of the shed, as soon as Mike went to work, put up the round pen on the lawn, let them out and eat all day, where I could teach them to lead, back up, etc, and just before he got home stick them back in the shed. Sometime I had them for weeks before some little kid squealed on me. You have to be creative, and think positive. What is Scott's hobby??
