Oh, that must have been funny, Indy following you "thinking" he would get left overs of peppermints.
I think it is raining everywhere. It is sort light rain more mist at times. At least, I can see that Harry, is getting more filled out, when he is wet you can see his top line and what shape his muscles are in.
Tristan is suppose to come home today from Eau Claire, where he is going to linesman school, and then tomorrow heading to Wausau to celebrate Camille's 14th birthday, her Mom's and Tristan is on the 24th. Side roads are icy, but highways OK.
If you go on my Facebook page, I have so bridle ID with charms that I brought for Christmas gifts, and then yesterday the ones came for Dave's honor. Some what necklaces and other bracelets, and keychains. The smaller ones, I am going to finish for the younger kids. They have a saying on "God has You in his Arms, But I have You in My Heart, along with his birthday and name, plus then Angel Wings and a Beer Cap Charms, some have cross charms. I have a link to her FB pages, very reasonable prices. I did put up a few pictures, but not sure if anyone could see them, I must have did it wrong. I will see if I have time to put them on Whisper's page later.

Chickens rank right up there next to ducks and geese in making messes. I still did not clean out the chicken coop, maybe today. Went grocery shopping in the morning, then helped my brother-in-law load the round bale feeder, which he brought over. So he had to sample the apple-rhubarb pie....in a square cake pan.
Today we will be getting the sawdust for bedding. And I get the honor of cleaning out the basement, just the cages for the guinea pig, and hamsters. Emptying out litter pans and what ever mess I can find.
Nice change....same here, seen some 40's yesterday...would be nice until Tuesday, but calling for rain, rain, rain. ugh, would rather have snow.

A heavy rain storm is predicted for Thursday through Saturday. My hay shed's developed a leak, so I put a tarp over the roof of it. I hope there aren't any winds. Going to pick up an extra corral panel, or 2, when I can. At least Sadie will be happy. She'll get to roam the back of the property. Have and awesome day. Love and a vote.

We had a beautiful winter day yesterday. Temps actually got up to 40, got some jobs done outside. Bedded down pigs out with loose straw again. They have a calf hutch, and about 3 feet of straw and saw dust under it all. Cleaned out some of the chicken coop, and added more leaves. They have ashes to dust them selves and it is right by the windows, so sun can warm it up....but they are the worst house keepers, even worst than me....they just throw the ashes everywhere. What they need is a 24 hr maid. Brought home another 20 small bales, just so the next cold spell which hits, I can feed under the lean-to for Harry and Jack, Harriet went in the pen with the other 2 steers and horses, so if she is not bred yet, she will not get bred, and end up having the baby in the cold weather. Now, it will be summer before they can be together. Even the horses love this weather, seen them galloping...short bursts of speed, this way and that....later sleeping in the sun.
Many schools still closed, electric out, but not where we are. We did not get not much rain, but did get snow.

Do you have any pictures of Sunset?? I know its better to take it slow, when I had the mini yearlings here, I had finally gotten to the point where Pickles did not have to wear a halter, and he was getting to trust me, then had to geld him, and get his hooves done....then had to start all over again.
Yep, Wisconsin will be up in the 30's or more this week, but includes RAIN. Schools are closed today because of the ice. Here at Kennan, it did not rain much sort of light rain, more of a heavy mist. But just south of us, they had heavy rain and now roads had 3/4-1 inch of ice. I would hate to have all this snow melt at once. I think Mo, Lilly and her goats, are right "everyone" is ready for spring, because of this awful weather pattern we are having. I wish Sadie, would be cautious of strangers, she just wants to jump right into their lap. That is like trying to hang on to a 60 pound live wire.

I am glad I am not the only one, who has a cat that likes "horse feed". Mine like to pick out one pellet, which is sort of chew and most likely alfalfa or clover pellet. They have to taste better than the rat.

We had a new priest, from Florida, but he was raising money for Haiti. My Mom said they have been raising money for Haiti, since she was in school, and she is going to be 01 yrs old. Makes sense, they probably use the Church as their income. Mom said they use to save used stamps, and the Sisters would sell them to collectors, and then gave the money to the poor.
Nice outside was 4 above, but should warm up to high 20's or even 30. We got up to 19 yesterday, but with that Mr. Sun, it felt warmer.

Neighbors, I wish mine lived more than the mile away, because it seems, near every summer evening when I am riding they are either shooting their guns or fireworks, and if one horse gets jumpy then they all do.
I would love to have a wood cook stove, have to learn to burn things all over again,...just got that part down just right. :)
Nice outside this morning even if it -8. Frosty the Snowman, must have been busy all night long, painted all the trees and bushes in frost, and with the sunlight they sure sparkle....Mike said they were my diamonds, and then the slight breeze they fall down and leave giant flakes all over the ground, which lay thee and sparkle. Sun is out so day will be bright and warm....Whisper, Willow and Mistic are standing sleeping against the tin shed to warm up.
Dominic got to spend the night, so frying a lot of potatoes, bacon and cheese, which only Grandma know the secret recipe for it....love!!

Rained some on Saturday. Was going to let Sadie out but went in her corral to see how the ground was. Not slippery, so her butt is still in it. Lol. She's mad. Oh, I wish I had a old wood cook stove, my Mom cooked on one, and our house was always warm in the winter, and of course too hot in the summer. As long as it is not -25 outside and a south wind, our house stays about 60 which is not bad, sort of use to it, and "when" the sun shines, is feels warmer. You are not going to believe this but this week we should warm up, calling for 30's, it's call winter thaw. But that also means, getting more small squares, and loose hay for bedding in the pig houses, cleaning out some of the chicken coop, and getting things ready for the next cold spell. I think it would be or is worst in the states that normally do not get winter weather, and now have wind, snow, ice, sleet, and rain. The snow I walked threw this morning, just to see how deep it was...15-16 inches, and where it drifted, it was 30 inches, when t gets to be 60 inches, just the top of my hat/head will be sticking out. I will have to wear one of those little flags, so Mike knows where I am stuck in the snow. :)

The Town of Kennan, owns the grater or plow, which means we the taxpayers paid for it with our taxes. We are charged 10 dollars each time he plows, which will be on our tax bill next yr.
I try to make something in the oven on these super cold days, like this morning it is -26 outside, with a little wind. I heat water for the calves, and carry it out there to help them stay warm....like hot coffee or tea in the morning, and pigs also get hot water in their feed.
Sadie is not following dr. orders, wants to run and play, so we let her out just a bit each day instead of her coming out with me to do chores.
I like reading your postings, I find out how much more I need to learn. :) Good thing I never went into showing.

We do have a tractor with a bucket on, but does not work that good for plowing the snow, but would work if really needed. We live right off the town road, and since we are the only one thre, we get plowed when they do the road, otherwise they have to come back for just one driveway. We have a large area to plow, horseshoe driveway, (what else, huh), area by the garage, and then a turn around. Mike could fit the pipe, but it has to be cut apart, therefore, draining all the water in the pipes, up to the shut off, its not bad in here, until night, otherwise in the day time, I am cooking or just moving around makes it warmer. I just never sit much, I clean tack at night or work on a craft project or just sort more boxes of "stuff".
We did get more snow after the first batch of snow, but it is so beautiful out there its hard to get mad at Mother Nature for such a beautiful scene, right off the Christmas card. Pines are all frosted and quite and calm.

What stopped your car....the brakes or the swear words. Your new horses sounds good. When will you be going to pick her up.
Someone really made Mother Nature mad....nearly a foot or more of snow, some places and then bitterly cold winds, some up to 40-50 mph. I figured we received about 9-10 inches of snow. So much we could not get out of the driveway to go pick up Sadie, from the vet's after being fixed. Dominic took care of her and called every few hours to ask me questions or tell me what she was doing. Mikey has labs this morning at 10, and then 3 appointments tomorrow over 100 miles one way.
Glad we hauled all the loose hay and small squares to the pigs and Highlanders, they have it easy this morning, don't even have to go outside.

Mike just informed me that we have 3 more months plus, of this weather. Our house is so cold, 51 this morning and 23 outside. Leaving now to take Sadie to the vet to be fixed, certainly do not want any "oops" puppies from her. See if I can afford to do Smokey Joe and Grizzly next month, but cats are cheaper.

Winds sure can be bad, worst than the cold.
E-Mail cards are found under Horse Videos & Fun, sort of close to the bottom. Points add up faster, because I think they are worth 150 points. Speaking of points, I turned some of mine in to receive very well made mini halter. I picked the biggest size which will fit a regular size colt or pony. Such nice colors, I received 2 of them.
You might not believe this but temps outside were actually 12 above!! TEmps inside the house still not much above 53, pipes are hot water temps are very high, but for some reason not heating the house good. Mike is going to see if he can get whole of the dealer this morning.

We all have to start thinking spring thoughts. Just telling Mike this morning, in another month or so, I will have to start collecting eggs for hatching. Cleaned off the Christmas decorations from the wooden table by the big picture window, and soon I can start seeding......of course they might get 10 ft high before the ground warms up....baby trees.
At least you received some sort of moisture. It must be hard, for people who are not use to snow and ice to drive. It is something that is learned as you drive. Black ice is the worst, because you can not see it, until you hit it.
Sun is out now, even if it is still -20, one more cold day and then it should start warming up and snowing again.
Wishing I had a barn, like I did when was younger and still at home. My horses I could bring in and brush and care for them. Spent a lot of time just teaching them things like backing up, moving sideways, and of course tricks like bowing.

Hope everyone is fat and warm this cold winter. Another -20 below last night, but little wind. Got up to -5 yesterday with some winds. House is so cold with the South wind, about 56-59. Not bad when I am working but hard to feel like cleaning when its cold. Mostly sorting and cleaning out drawers and clothes. Lots of magazines and books to go threw. Not much horse time, but I do give them their treat and check them over everyday, plus watering and fluffing up the hay.

Wormed Sadie. Austin use to hold her head up and battle with her, so I could give her the worming treatment. The last 2 times, I gave it to her without any help. She just stood there and let me give it to her, then swallowed it. Good girl! Big brat, too. Lol. Love and a quick vote.

Another cold vote this morning!! Never got too warm yesterday, seen -5 yesterday afternoon, but the sun was out for a bit. This morning was -20, but hardly any wind. By Sunday afternoon temps should start raising, well at least above 0. Horses are happily munching on their hay, which by digesting will keep them warm.

Did you get your front yard, back where it belongs??
Did not get as cold as they said it would, (only got down to -10) which is good, but will not start warming up until Sunday. Winds were bad this morning, and poor little Harry, the Scottish Highlander bull was shivering, as he was eating his grain. I gave them more hay under the lean-to, so they did not have to go outside to the round bale. The round bales are piled up outside of the lean-to, (it s fenced in, then gates or panels, making a lane between the hay and the lean-to.) So he should be out of the wind, or the worst of it, plus there are rubber mats, nailed to the top to help keep most of the wind out.
Starting to take down the Christmas tree, and decorations today, mostly because I have all the totes sitting around in the way, and I know for sure that is where the dust bunnies are hiding.

Strange weather everywhere.
I did chat with the owner of the blind minis. She said she had alot of people wanting them. I have had a few blind horses here, but they were ones I just took care of, while owner was going to collage, so after she finish, she took them to Colorado with her. Animals that come here with issues, usually stay, because most people do not want to deal with helping them. Weather is nice right now, calling for more snow, and then cold below zero later on in the week. So have to carry a lot more buckets of water into the shed to dump into the calves tub, which does have a heater, just can not hold more than 4-5, 5 gallon buckets.
