Good Morning!! Sold 25, (really 27) baby chicks and 6 keets, (baby guinea hens) yesterday. So have enough money now to buy feed, and some small square bales of hay. I leave the computer on, and as I come and go in and out the house, stop and leave a vote here and there. Been very busy, with gardening, making a bigger pen for the keets, and helping Mike check the hay field fencing, then keep a eye on the steers, and horses and ponies as the find a big 10 acre field to really open up and run. My brother invited us over for a cook out last night, because my brother is home from Alaska with his family. It's been raining and very muddy again, like the kind of mud that likes to "suck your boots off".

I took Sadie's temperature twice. 98.5. I gave her 2 Pepto Bismol tablets. She ate them like candy and wanted more. Yuck. Thankful that she's doing better. Lots of love and a vote.

Have to rush again this morning. Someone coming around 11 to buy some chicks and a few keets. Hope its enough to buy feed next week. Temps were in the 40's yesterday and very breezey, but good weather for fixing fence. Mike did most of it, while I make another pen for guineas keets...time to move them out of big rabbit cage. Willow finally got to go in with whisper, as ponies and all went into the hay field, now they have 10 acres to run and run they did, of course Willow limped most of the time after, but so good to hear the "thunder of hooves" even if they were little beats.

Sadie's had diarrhea since Saturday. She's eating good and drinking her water. No change in her diet. I'm thinking maybe it's because the weather's been weird. Any ideas? Thanks. Love and a vote.

Raining again, and very cool. I have a sweatshirt on, (and all the windows open), plan on making banana bread, and oatmeal cookies, plus put something in the oven for supper. Looking out in the rain, I think of all the things I could be doing or plan to do. I will be working out in the shed, moving the turtle cage in for the keets, as soon as the rain stops. Mike is looking for stuff to do, before its time for Mass this afternoon. I like going to Church for Mass then, instead of Sunday morning.

Not the first time that Sadie's turned on the water. I'm sure it won't be the last time, either. If she thinks about it, she'll do it, again. The only way to keep her from it is to keep her put up. I let her out to get some exercise. She's too sociable to stay in the corral all the time. She amuses me. Love and a it's raining vote.

The next couple of days the high for this area of Wisconsin will be in the 60's, not sure what the low will be, but you can tell fall will be coming soon. Hopefully, all the baby chicks will be putting on some fat soon.
Dominic my grandson is here again. If he did not have sports at school, I am sure he would live here. Been working on some craft type things, mainly a wooden board, which he stained, and then drew some drew deer heads he wanted to paint on, but I helped him transfer his ideas on to thin wood, and I cut them out on the skill band saw. I am glad he did not make it into a "30 point buck", like the song they play in deer hunting season. Plan on cleaning out the rabbit cages and chop down more burrdock, my two piles are really big, and my hands are just as sore. Never seem to remember to wear gloves.

Let Sadie out to stretch her legs and get some exercise. She turned on the hose and made herself a lake to play in. She loved it and blew bubbles while wading in it. Brat! She's too dang smart. Oh well, I don't have to water that tree, now. Lol. Lots of love and a vote.

I turned on the sprinkler for Sadie, Monday. She backed that big butt up to it, then laid down and rolled. Scruffy always gets happy when he sees her do that. He ran up to her behind, barking. He ran away from her when she let out a loud fart. Still laughing. Wish I had a video of it. Leaving lots of love and a vote.

I had a long talk with Mistit while I brushed her, she just kept nodding her head agreeing with me, about it time to have that baby.....its been a long summer, on baby watch.
Sunday vote from Whisper, Willow and the little herd for you. NIce out today....so far...getting some jobs done outside, that usually is too hot out in the morning to do. Trying to move the turtle cage out to the shed for the little keets, because they are out growing their rabbit cage. The turtle cage is about 5 feet high, 4 ft wide and 10-12 ft long, and no bottom, so they can learn to scratch in the dirt. Because its made from chicken wire, I can put long sticks in for roosts, also put branches, and plants so that they learn to hide in the grasses. I feed them clover and grasses now, but cut it up with the scissors. They are too small to be out with the little chicks, yet. The keets have one fault, they hide their little heads into a hole....like between the hay bales, when being picked on, thinking they can not be seen, but they do not know how to move backwards, only forwards, so they get deep between the bales and die. They are a very smart bird...except for that one stupid fault. So I keep them safe until they are older. Most are spoken for except for the ones I will keep...some different colors than what I have now

Some good new on Mistit...her milk is now yellow, before it was just white coloring. Still keep her separated at night, just incase. Rainy again today, but not a all day rain, but enough to make everything sticky and humidity sort of bad. Try to chop down "cock-bur or burdock" this morning, and some are getting like little trees. Like to do them just before they seed out, it is like a small ball of sticky seeds which get in the horses manes and tails, and nearly impossible to get out.

So thankful for Sadie's shade. She is, too. I've got a small wall on the west side, about 6 feet wide. Going to wall up the north side when the the weather cools down. Don't know if Sadie uses the wall to block the blowing sand. She uses the shade when the sun is hot and when it rains. Plays in her water trough to cool down. The fly mask protects her eyes from flies and blowing dust and sand. She's use to the weather, no matter how crazy it gets. Leaving lots of love and a vote.

Raining here too right now, but just did chores in it anyway. No one wanted to go out, chickens included. Going to my son, Rich's birthday this afternoon. It's about 100 miles, Wausau, wi. same place where my son, Mike goes for some of his dr. appointment. DOn't mind, because they have a Farm and Fleet store. Can not think of anything I really need....but I will find something(s) without too much trouble. Have to check the little ponies list and of course Whisper and Willow will take more treats.

Monsoon season. Large dust storm hit the Phoenix area, yesterday. Horrible winds were slamming into the house around noon, shaking it. Thanking Jesus for not losing power. Tucson was flooded from the heavy rains. I had to work a short shift, last night. Hard rain hit here before I got home, and flooded the highway below my house. And yes, it's miserably humid, now, but thankful for the rain. Also, thankful for Sadie's larger corral. The east end flooded, but the west was good. Sadie's good, too. Horses are rugged animals. They can survive so much worse. All she seemed to care about was food. I let her out, waded through puddles to the hay shed, and gave her a flake of hay. She had her carrots and apples, too. Her new salt brick melted. Need to buy 2 at a time, just in case. Love and a muggy vote. <3

Well, Mistit's due date certainly is a mystery....she nearly is past the last due date, first week in Aug, next one will be near the end of Aug. It's been a long baby watch for all of us. I keep checking to see if she has milk, which she does

Galloping by with votes! I'm back from vacation! Alaska was great! We had a ton of fun and got to see a bunch of animals and even got to see Denali (only about 30% of people get to see the mountain)! We got home this morning after having to sit in the airport for 5 hours due to Delta airlines grounding all their flights because their computer system went down worldwide. Made us miss my daughter's swim lesson, but at least we made it home.

Put up 8 more round bales for winter....just like canning veggies, so that make 25 in total. Thats about what we use each winter, our feeders are always full. We put a few out near the edge of the woods, right down by the pine trees, for the deer to munch on. Usually 2 a year, depending how many deer we see out in the fields. New seeding hay is good for them, and God gives us a good crop, so we share.
Baby pigs are getting more independent, and now sleeping under the topper and I feed them outside the pen. Love those chubby little butt cheeks.
Mistit has been being stand-offish the last few days. Hopefully, she has her baby soon. Just likes those tummy rubs to much. I keep telling her to hurry it up.

I miss having calves here.....except the cleaning pens part. We are still looking at the Scottish Longhorn yearlings, guy is having hard time separating just a few from his herd, while he is working and also custom baling. When haying is done, he said he will have more time.
Mistit....well, that girl sure is taking her "good old time" about having that baby. I am thinking that she was in with a bunch of young horses, and perhaps, one of them were a stud colt. I know she said, that the mares were being mean with her, after she hurt her stifle joint, and she had to move her with the young horses, but the stallion's pen was right next to her. I am worried that I might "miss it" just like her name.

Cats wanting in and out would be worst than a dog. My cats know which room I am in and want to crawl up the screens, which inturn makes hole in the wire, and then the skeeters get in. My cats get locked in too, but in the shed with chicks, or feed room, so they can eat any mouse brave enough to come out. Also keep any weasels or mink out of chicken pens. My cats do not hurt the baby chicks, even if they were wild cats at one time.

Finally have a few days in a row with no chance of rain, so cutting the new seeding today. Poured yesterday, nearly all morning. It had stopped for a bit, and I was moving some of the keets, baby guinea hens, out to a better rabbit cage in the shed, when it started up big time, so I was halfway across the lawn, and ran with the rabbit cages trying to protect them from getting wet. Ended up working out in the shed, until rain let back up. Found a box of headstalls, starting to mold, huh....not even done cleaning saddles, and having to work on the smaller leather things. Washed most of them in vineger water, because read (somewhere) it would kill mold spores, drying is slow, because of the moister in the air. Today, it is cool outside, should stay like that all weekend. About 62 right

Going to storm today, Mike is taking Mikey to his dr. appointment, and will stop and get me "another" bag of chick starter. Probably, would not need it, but when I sell keets or chicks, I send some feed with them. Sometimes, a 3 pound coffee can full, and with the month old chicks eating like they were starving, 50 pounds goes very fast.
Humidity is so high that the floors, (wood) are wet. Everything is sticky, including my keyboard. Baby sitting 2 little yappers, (dogs) for the past week, Barky is the worst, because he likes to live up to his name. Chance is a Yorkie and wants out and two seconds later wants in....runs back and forth between the front and back door barking. I go to let him in and he is already running to the other door. Stay cool!!

I wrote before, about my flower beds, and will let everyone know, the only way to grow nice flowers, is to "beg, borrow, or steal" the seeds/bulbs. (But I only steal from Mother Nature). Always, said if I am going to steal, it better have 4 legs and a mane and tail, and be worth "hanging" for....and I have come very close to be hung. hee, hee...;)
Let month old chicks out of their pen in the shed this morning, had to plug up every hole under the overhead door, so they could not get outside. Only, because there are 42 of them, and they are so hard to count to bring back in at night. Right now, let them learn to come into the pen where I left there their food and water. Next to deal with the baby keets. Sold some, already, but have some to give to 4-H ers, and saving a few for myself....not sure why I do have enough. Sometimes, I just do not learn from my own mistakes.
