PLEASE VOTE STERL MAY JUNE HOTM
Roxanne loved STERL MAY, after caring for her for the first 4 years of her life, she could not let her go. Sterly spent the next 6 years of her life at Roxanne's friends place, she was not a problem, she had two other horses to play with. It was always Roxy's plan to make Sterl a riding horse, and to be fair she did go out and ride her a few times over the years, but as we all know too well, life gets in the way. Fast forward Roxanne's life, there was a marriage a couple of moves, eventually she and her husband tried to set up a small breeding farm, they wanted to try and make it in the STANDARDBRED business, so they gathered a few mares and they even trained a couple for the track. Sterly came home. It is a tough business and it costs lots of money, money that they were not making, they both were holding down full time jobs as well as trying to make it racing. Long story short, it took about a year to realize they were broke and so liquidate the liabilities keep the assets. Sterly had to go. This is where I come in. At the boarding barn where I leased there was one other English rider, I would plan my trips to the barn when I knew she would be there, she is the one that over heard the conversation about me wanting to get MY OWN HORSE. She told me about Sterly, so I called Roxanne, I went to meet her and with my borrowed saddle and bridle I rode her right there in her paddock. The rest of that day you can read in her profile "how we met" STERLY had just turned 11 when Roxy and I delivered her to the boarding barn, I had my own horse, and she was BEAUTIFUL. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT....
Sterl May was born and raised on a small but successful STANDARDBRED farm not far from my home. Standardbred racing is very big in this part of Ontario. She was quite good at the track, but at 4 years old she got a respiratory virus that ended her racing career. Roxanne, the lady that I eventually bought Sterl's from worked on that farm. Because racing is a business and not a hobby, Sterly had to go. Roxanne remembers the morning she was told to get Sterl May ready for the market truck. Roxanne had known and cared for her for 4 years and could not bear the thought of her going to market, so she bought her on a whim. That night after work she trailered her to a friends house and said "I bought a horse can I keep her here for now" Sterly spent the next 6 years there playing with her two new pasture pals. Before I bought Sterl May(read her how we met story please),I used to lease a solid bred paint mare, at a local boarding stable not far from home. Her name was Fool Kat, I leased because as an adult getting back into riding, I wanted to be sure before I bought my own horse. The barn owners thought that I should buy a foal and raise it up. One of the other riders at the barn heard this and she said she knew of someone that had a horse for sale for not too much $$$ she mostly wanted a good home for this horse. The only thing was, she was a STANDARDBRED, that didn't mean anything to me. I went to meet her, and I will never forget the feeling I had when I walked into her paddock, she tuRned to look at me, THOSE EYES, THOSE BEAUTIFUL EYES, she still has those beautiful eyes, thanks for your support, we left a vote too. Here is a good night vote from our herd to yours. Hope you have enjoyed this weekend come rain or shine. The rains have set upon us for a few days to come. It feels relaxing, but chilly. I just watched Fancy and Trigger munching hay and while they ate their grain, I stood out in the rains to police Fancy. LOL. To keep Fancy from taking Trigger's grain. When I am in the house, I often look out at the flowers and to keep an eye on Fancy. My small flower garden has come a long way. I am going to bed soon. I am a bit tired.

Saturday vote 4 U! Do enjoy this great weekend :)
We went to the horse show, but we did not take Fancy nor Trigger because I could not clean them up. I helped out in the arena giving out ribbons. That was as much fun as showing. I really learned a lot helping in the arena. I am so excited and hyped up to show!
My darling Fancy Walk N’s heel bulb is all healed up! I just hope she can stay out of trouble now!!!

I think I will just stick with the hired big ones. I'm pretty happy that it is raining, makes me feel better because I can't ride anyway. Physio went well this morning, then we went to get groceries, I could get used to having this much help. Wow, you are lucky, I don't have big clippers, so I hired a girl, we tried, but Sterly would have no part of it. We had to get the vet out to sedate her....It was a big deal, but she looked great and felt sooooo much better. Early morning vote, another friend with Cushing's, do you have to medicate her? We did a body clip last spring and will again soon, it is hard on her, she has to be tranked..but sure feels better after. Off to physio, then home to rest. Hi! Here is a mid week vote from Fancy and our herd!
I added a pic of Fancy's heel injury at the bottom of our page. She is out of the stall leaping, bucking, & running hard!
I think Trigger wants Fancy back in the stall. She is directing his every move, even if he can eat. Poor guy. Trigger gained weight while Fancy was in the stall. If he loses any weight, I will have to separate them so he can have some peace.
Depending on days I am physically able, I will ground drive Fancy and let her pull some things. I am excited for this!
Last Saturday my brothers rode Buttercup and Goldie. I got to ride Buttercup. Buttercup kept trying to follow my brother and she would not listen to me. She wanted to have a temper tantrum, so my brother lead her around so I could ride here. I felt like a little kid. But at least I got to ride. LOL.
I wanted to ride Goldie, but after I saw her behavior, I was fearful for my brother to ride her. Goldie is dangerously buddy sour, I tried to hold the reins so he could tack her up. But she pushes you with her body and neck and she will not listen to instruction. She will turn her butt to push you and try to run past you. I think that means she will kick if she wants too. I had to ask Buttercup's owner (my other brother) to hold Goldie because, Goldie made my wrists hurt. I don't want to ride Goldie anymore. She needs some schooling! My brother had a time getting on her but when he was finally on her, they started out rough until she was under her buddy. He had to keep them two together so he could hope for a peaceful ride.

I am so happy to be able to blog and vote! Saturday I got my job list caught up and the brace is helping with the swelling, pain, & numbness. I have missed interacting with you all. I will blog and vote often as I can depending on my physical situation.
Saturday afternoon we went to the farm to take pics of my brothers and their friend as they rode out. I rode Buttercup in the field, well, my brother lead me on her. When he got her she did not like anyone. Now, she knows who he is and she only wants to listen to him! I could not ride her without him leading her. I did not want to get into a tussle with her either because my wrist are weak. I did enjoy the short ride in the field though!!!
Fancy's wound continues to improve. I was afraid to let her get her kicks out, but I let her out for a while Friday. She ran! Bucked, kicked, & ran more! There was NO limping, no swelling, no bleeding. I did put some bell boots on her before I let her out. Does any one know if it is ok to allow her to wear bell boots all day or night? I took them off when I put her back in the stall. The bell boots covers that wound so I think they will help if I leave her out. I don't know anything about bell boots because I have never used them.
If you saw our last video, don't worry, Fancy was not in any danger. Fancy has been goin up them stairs since she was 10 months old. When we go there more often she walks up them better than I do. They are in the park and there is grass on both sides. I never let her walk down. I think the pool noodle getting under her leg made her feel funny because the first time she was unsure. After I
