How We Met

Must have been the blue eyes!
We were going to visit some friends and passed a farm with a sign "Horses for Sale". We just had to take a look! When we saw Rocky, that was it!

Rocky is our 1st horse and he's been so much fun over the years from my daughter trying to ride him in English beginner shows (jumping talent zero) to Western and trail riding for me, which he prefers! He's been in a parade once and given lots of pony rides over the years. Other various experience includes vaulting horse, Dress-up Halloween shows, fun shows, summer camp... We took him to several County fair western shows just for fun too.

Nowadays, semi-retired due to navicular issues. Light riding only on trail loop or in pasture.

That's pretty funny, actually. The neighbors have their own personal "parade of dogs" to choose from if they wanted to.
Glad your big dog knows to watch for the little guys. Chihuahuas can be pretty fragile, I've heard. A friend had 2 of them, and they both blew out their knees jumping off the couch.
Had a good ride on Allie this morning. It was hot early and I didn't get started as early as I'd wanted, so didn't work her too long. Cold water hose off afterward and detangler in her mane and tail. And ice water for me, lol.
Hope you have a great hump-day.

Thank You for your vote. Raining right now, so perhaps, I can get some time to put the ponies in one group, instead of 4 pages. But I am trying to clean up saddles so I can sell them, with this humidity some of my leather in the tack room is getting mold on it. My grandson is staying for a few days, and I will put his hands to work. Thank You again.

Hi Rocky, here's a vote for ya. Well Farrier got here and their feet look great, all pretty for the horse show! Packing up the rig tomorrow and we're off Thursday by 10 am. Only about an hours drive this time, yay! After how upset Honey was with that storm, I went to the vets and got a tube of Sileo for her. Possible storms all this weekend, and she'll be in the trailer alone for the most part. Of course if it's thundering and lightning the show will be put on hold. So run to the trailer to be with her. Well besides Paige winning money for a new TV, she better really step up to the plate! The generator was on this morning, we had lost power, all of a sudden it's making funny noises! It stops, I got out and do what I usually do and start it up! It goes nuts and blows itself a gasket! Yep oil all over me and the side of the house, it's toast! He'll be here next week and I'll pick out a new one, a tad bigger than 7000K. So looks like about $6K price wise at least. Yay Home Equity line of credit! Just hope we don't lose electric till they get the new one in. Otherwise I'll be running to the firehouse with big jugs for water for the horses, and they won't have fans! I'm not happy! But life goes on! Marion and the blondes.

So her own are Chihuahuas, but her fosters are larger? I guess that let's her keep them separated as well. The neighbors probably wonder why she has a different dog every few weeks. Good luck with the new one.
Leaving quick votes only today, gotta scoot to work. Hope you have a great tuesday.

Hi Rocky, here's a vote for ya. So the Canine Good Citizen is for like becoming a Therapy dog and going to hospitals and senior homes right? Just when you think it can't get any hotter and more humid! It does! Well had to hang out for 4 hours waiting for Dish Network to come. Last night my living room antique TV keep getting the message no signal and channel availability! Was on the phone with them, and finally the tech said, have to send a repairman out! So sometime between 10 and 12 noon. Well I wanted to try and at least hand walk in the indoor, but every half hour they would call and say 30 minutes later, did that for 2 hours! Screwed me up big time. And then I got a pleasant surprise from my Cousin Ralph, he and his lady friend rode up on his new Spider Motorcycle! I haven't seen Ralphie since dad passed away. He was with us at Hospice. Dad's namesake! So anyhow, repairman gets here and it's the receiver box is shot! Well with the new receiver box and a TV that's 38 years old, it was tough to get things hooked up. But he did and of course recommends a new TV somewhere in the future! Can't hook up the VCR to it either! So I guess Paige better win good and make me some money for a new flat screen! LOL! Super bad storms late this afternoon. Honey was a mess, didn't get the ThunderShirt on in time! They came out of nowhere! Marion and the blondes.

Kennan is actually 35 miles from the closest hospital, but there they will just send him back to Wausau to St. Clair's....and it will take them all day to do it. First, they run test, labs, ect. then they decided since new organs are not in the right place, never mind they are working on his leg, or arm or foot, they need to send him back to where he got his transplants, which is 4 hours away in Minneapolis, Mn. We have been threw this many, many times. He has had more mistakes made by drs. at that hospital....the reason he lost is leg is just that. You do not treat a patient for stomach flu, when he comes in with a fever of 104 and his toe is bright red. Same place that sent him home with a broken ankle, and he was walking on it for 2 weeks, even if I kept telling them something is very wrong with his ankle.

Wow, you're one busy lady. No rescue Chihuahuas, huh? Seems like there would be. Some will come up for adoption right after she buys hers, lol.
I've got a busy day planned today. Gonna ride this morning, then grocery shop, then try to change th the oil in my old truck. I've never done that before, but it doesn't look hard on Google. Famous last words, huh?
Well, hope you have a great monday. Take care.

Galloping by with votes! Sorry I haven't been on in a few months. Busy, busy, busy! I helped my best friend move her farm which means Katie has a new home (I keep her at my friend's)! She's loving the new place. It's a little farther away from me though which means I only see her a few times a week instead of every day. My daughter has been busy since school got out with tumbling classes, ballet, and swim lessons. We will be leaving on vacation soon. We're headed to Alaska!!

Hi Rocky, here's a vote for ya. Oh My that was a busy day for sure! Good sales on the puppy treats for sure! My problem is, I become so attached so easy, I couldn't adopt it out! It would be a lifer with me! LOL! Well another hot humid one! This time no breeze whatsoever, so humid! Had to zap Honey pretty hard this morning! On our morning feed she saw something out in the pasture, I didn't see anything. She was on guard one second and the next off like a rocket! Buy the time I got to the end of the pasture and had the remote set to vibrate, hit her with it and yelled come, she did but just up and down the hill on Dot & Mike's place. Back and forth and kinda ignored the vibration, so set it at 60 and zapped the hell our of her! She jumped up about a foot off the ground, and made a u-turn and ran over to me then! I think it made an impression on her! Paige got a fast 15 minute lunge and 15 of showmanship practice. Indy got 15 minute lunge and was sweating a little, but he sweats so easily. Did lunch of hay and fresh cool water at 3 pm. It was 92 with index of 98! Tomorrow, Monday the farrier was to come, he text and concealed till Tuesday. Tomorrow is the worst 95 with index of 104 and heavy thunderstorms moving in around noon time. He dropped all appointments for safety's sake. He'll be here Tuesday. Better be, I hook up Wed and pack to leave, my big rig would be in his way to get to the barn! Marion and the blondes.

Mike's incision will not stop bleeding. Called back to the hospital, said to bring him back....100 miles one way. Figured if I put a pressure bandage on it, perhaps that would help. His friend next door is staying with him, she know alot about taking care of him, since she had to take care of both her Mom and Dad. You can not put pressure anywhere up his leg, because of the stint. They have his leg opened up on both sides of his knee, about 7-8 inch and I think left the bottom open. He has to be on blood thinner because of his heart.
I sure understand what you mean about the heat and humidity. Bad here too, but it did sprinkle around 4 just as we were walking into church for 4 o'clock Mass. Then later it rained hard, and around 4-5 this morning started all over again. Still have all of Sunday before I can check how many baby keets I have in the incubator. If I open it, the humidity leaves and shrink wraps the unhatched ones. So I wait and peek in a tiny airhole. Plastic one so I keep it in the Styrofoam box it came in, to keep the heat in. Baby pigs go from one pen to the other, white sow is a much better MaMa, she lets all the babies nurse. They have chubby little cheeks and butts. Some of the baby chicks I let out of their rabbit cage, but sure is a pain to try to round them all up in the evening. Been waiting until the all try to climb into their feed pans, and put the whole pan chicks and all back in the cage. Have get back out in the garden to weed as soon as this heat ends. I do not sweat, just get red, red face, and never know when I am too hot. Something is broke inside with my thermostat. :) Stay cool everyone!!

I guess I will never complain about the cold, when the heat is this bad. 10 o'clock and horses have all ran into the shed. We brought all the round bales in this morning, Mike brought them in, and I just help make sure he is getting them straight. So while he is doing that, I moved most of the baby chicks, now about 3 weeks old into the chicken coop, there is a separate little room in there, for feed, but feed never gets into it, so nice place for chicks. They have out grown their large rabbit cage. At least there is a window to open.
Baby guineas, (keets) are hatching now, I can hear them inside the incubator. Have another batch due next Saturday. Wanted to take them to the next swap on the 30th, but that is our family reunion, (Mike's side) this time near Minneapolis, about 3-4 hours away. Most people are staying over night, but we have no one to check on critters, so we will just go for a bit and come home. Stay cool, sorry I did not read any one's comments to me, so will try to catch up later on any news.

that is good news he has a forever home. Does she have another foster lined up? Have fun and stay cool :) It started out hot yesterday morning like most morning's here now. It's in the lower 80's so I did some work on the ground with Deacon then I used the water rake and washed him down good. I can see in the afternoons he is having some problems the last few days. We are in the triple digits with high "feels like" temps. He gets in the shade and that's a good sign plus he is drinking a lot of water which is good too :) Have a great weekend ♡

Hi Rocky, here's a vote for ya. Oh that's good news that Buck got adopted out. But will your daughter miss him? I know I could never do it. They'd all be keepers with me! Well it was 93 with a heat index of 98 by 3 pm today. Needless to say not to much got done! I had the hearing doctor this morning, all went great, the fluid in the right ear is gone and my hearing improved by 38 % over the last test 5 weeks ago. So both ears are normal for my age! YAY! Made a couple of stops on the way home and then by noontime it was 88 degrees, but we still had a breeze going on. So I turned the kids out, they lasted about 90 minutes and were by their gates wanting to come in. It was hot and the breeze stopped. In they came and each downed a bucket of water! And went to hanging in front of their fans. Smart horses! Marion and the blondes.

Hi Rocky, here's a vote for ya. Glad that you had a nice ride last evening. Yep the weekend is supposed to be awful for all of us on the northern coast! Glad that Blue was leashed and couldn't go bunny exploring! LOL! Well the heat and humidity have returned! Too muggie to ride today, didn't even turn them out! I was being attacked by bugs just mowing the front yard! Honey got her training session, of course she's an angel in the indoor arena. Did lunge Paige for 10 minutes just to keep her tuned up. Then set up the cones and did a few different showmanship patterns with her. Indy got a spa day in the barn in front of several more fans, he enjoyed that. Mo's around and eating, but he hasn't showed his face to me at all! Well tomorrow and the weekend even worse, in the low 90's with high humidity! Marion and the blondes.

Hi Rocky, here's a vote for ya. Well another kinda cooler day. Made it to 80 degrees, but a nice cool breeze most of the time. Well Honey gave me my exercise again today. We were heading down to the indoor to work on our come when called. He goes Mr. Squirrel across the pasture full tilt, Honey was hesitant about going, I said No and went to hit the Beep and nothing happened, off she went! I switched to vibrate and nothing, she wasn't responding! This time out to my hay field and across and up the other way, of course, it's up hill for me and my knee. Got her about 10 minutes later! She came to me. But the controller wasn't working! I think in my pocket it switched to collar #2 and that's why! So now I know to check it before each time we head out! Got to ride Paige, she needed a few little come to Jesus meetings today! All was well after that, but this was the 5th day in a row and I usually don't ride that many in a row. But no excuse Paige! Everyone got out this afternoon, and Bullseye untied the rope on the gate to Indy's pasture and those two had fun today! It upset Paige! So today had all kinds of excitement in it! Very humid today, still calling for rain, but high temps too. At least 84 now, but there is a nice breeze too. Had to run to get a part for the tractor, so sort of late for me, about 11 now. We have about 15-16 acres of hay, only cut about half of it down and had a guy round bale it. Going to try out a small sq. baler to put up the hay from new seeding. We did not want to take the chance of getting it down, then get rained on because it is thick. Trouble is no barn the type where you had a hay mount like the old barns. Can store some inside side the shed, but not more than a 150.

Whisper, Willow, and the little herd are sending you a vote. Hay was cut yesterday, all except where we planted new seeding. Because that will take longer to dry, and its calling for rain again. Hi Rocky, here's a vote for ya. Well it was so humid today! It like said it has to make up for yesterday! I did get to ride Paige, after chasing Honey down! Yep, with new collar on! We were walking down to the indoor to do our run and training session. So guess who's in the barn and comes by the door and starts to Meow! Good ole Mo raising heck with me for not filling his food dish! Well Honey heard him and saw him, I said no and hit just the Beep on the collar, she stopped. Mo then said run for the hills and took off, Honey said, chase is on Bro! I had switched to Vibrate and hit it a few times, she was looking to me and just said, it's more fun chasing him and getting that vibration! 300 feet across and at Nick's yard she came when called, either she's listening a little better, or just gave up on Mo! So any how, Paige and I were soaked with sweat after our ride in the indoor, and that was with all the fans on! She got hosed off and I took a shower. Had the chiropractor, and of course the sky was getting darker! Storm moving in, so on went her T-Shirt and she got her Storm Stress drops. 15 minutes after I was on the road, it hit! About 10 good thunders rolled through and heavy rains. She was good when I got home, just panting a little, not much at all. Marion and the blondes.

Hi Rocky, here's a vote for ya. Well it was hot, but the humidity got blown away by a nice cool breeze. So the 87 didn't feel all that bad. I did get to ride Paige inside and we worked for like 45 minutes and she was barely wet. But I did have the ceiling fans going and the doorway fans drawing in more cool breezes. Indy got to chill in his stall. After I had lunch and it didn't feel bad out, I turned them all out for 90 minutes to graze. After they came in, I mowed Paige's pasture. Only cause the weeds were hitting her eyes when she was grazing. Don't need eye problems. Honey is doing very well with the new E-Collar. I like the idea of the Beep and the Vibration first, before going to over kill zapping! Marion and the blondes.

A vote from Whisper, Willow and the little herd. Cloudy today and is suppose to rain. Can not get 3 nice days in a row to make hay, and since we do not have equipment have to have neighbors help. I finished the garden, at least of pulling 5 gallon buckets of weeds out. I have been eating beets and carrots already, plus things that grow fast like lettuce and radishes. Cucumbers, winter and summer squash, way too many tomatoes, since I had to replant about 16 of them, I now have close to 25 plants, many just come up by themselves, and I move them to a row, or a place where something did not grow. Dill is growing here and there, but I also plant it in flower beds, since butterflies like to lay their eggs on it. Potatoes are now have flowers. Flower beds mostly can take care of themselves, since they are "grow where you fall" type gardens. Lots of them about 17 small ones, and all around the house. I have no color theme, just what the butterflies and birds like. I have one corner of the house, where the water hose comes out, that I need to redo, since I had to dig it up, but this year, I just planted pumpkins there, to keep the weeds down.

Good Morning vote from Whisper, Willow, and the little herd. "Today" I take it all back about Pickles being a "problem child", he was so good, I guess him having to be in the other pen, made him be on his best behavior. So, he got staked outside of the pen, (with Mistit) as a treat. Let me put his halter on and gave him a treat, and he followed me out, without tugging, did a few whoa, and "kissing" to step up. Any plans to ride this weekend? How's your mom? My mom is going on an antibiotic because they suspect she's trying to get pneumonia after breaking her sternum in that wreck a few weeks ago. She sure doesn't need pneumonia again.
Well, hope you have a great weekend. Hope you get some rain soon. Take care.

Come visit me, Allie & BJ and his mom,Gracie.

Hi Rocky, here's a vote for ya. Figured I start now blogging, as the horses have to wait for their grain! Thank you Paige! I thought I was being nice and giving them the day off. Only because of two reasons, one It's my Birthday and I wanted a day to just be me! Second cause the heat and humidity are terrible again. Flies are horrible. But no, at 6:15 pm I hear Paige putting up a fuss! I think maybe my baby twin does are running and playing in the back hayfield and it was making her nuts! So I took her out to the indoor to lunge, she was a nut case just walking out! Lunged her only a few minutes, had a hard time to keep her from bucking and rearing! Don't need her hurting herself again! Then she settled down, but was soak'n'wet! So she's on the wall in front of her fan. No food for an hour after cooling down! So much for my relaxing day! LOL! She's going to work tomorrow no matter what! LOL! Marion and the blondes.

A Vote for You!!
Spent most of yesterday, in between the rain showers on my knees, not praying in church, but weeding the garden. Nearly caught up, still have the one row left between the potatoes and squash, planted another package of beets, because I have been picking nice size beets, and also carrots. The rabbits, Auroa, BB, and guinea pig, Raisin, said they are ready and taste great.Just North of us, road have been washed out, over 0 inches of rain, 3 people died. 30 some people, camping had to be rescued at a camping ground. Seen pictures, and its a messy. North of us is a big tourist area. I wish I had smaller gates to make little stalls, and a better way to clean them out. Right now, I have one big pen inside the shed, and a fenced in area under the lean-to part of the shed. So when I open back big door, it has a long 20 ft board up to keep ponies out of the small sq. bales of hay, and then the 2 side doors, its stays breeze and cooler inside, but also makes a messy with poop and being wet. So, I have been trying to see where I could bring Pickles in or outside the shed, daily to work with him, by himself, without all his little friends being in the way. I hope your weather clears up for you. We, too, have been getting rain, but I know enough not to complain. Nice yesterday, besides the rain, had around 70's.

Come visit me, Mistic, Willow, Eclipse Moon Shadow, Paisley & Whisper.
