My goodness! Horses are so smart. I've noticed that Sadie sometimes has what looks like dried drops of water on her back. Monday, she filled her mouth with water and tossed it on her back. How cool is it that she knows how to cool herself off? I don't know if this is something horses normally do, or if she was inspired by being hosed down or cooling off in the sprinkler. Just amazing! So thankful for the wonderful things we learn from our four legged loved ones. Love always and a vote.

Here's a vote from Buddy!

It's been a long time since I've logged on and blogged last. I have been so busy, even tho I haven't been up to a whole lot. Lots to update, so I will try and shorten it as much as I can, so it's not a super long novel!

To start with, Buddy is good! I have moved him to a new place, it's about the same distance as the other place, just in the opposite direction. I decided to move him because the place I had him at wasn't the "safest" and they didn't really listen to what I, as a boarder, needed for Buddy. The new place he is in a smaller pen, with another horse but is way easier to catch, the old place he was in a big field, with access to the back quarter section (string of barned wire for the gate just laying on the ground for them to run across,) with two mares, so I couldn't catch him. Plus, they only had barbed wire fencing (not my fav) and Buddy slipped one day and I watched him slide right into the fence and scrape himself up. Thankfully he was ok! This new place has no barbed wire, except for the perimiter of the 60 acre field, which Buddy has no access to unless I want him out there!

I FINALLY got a job in June (other then selling Scentsy!) I now work at the local Greenhawk Equestrian store here. I am super excited, as it's a horse store, but I still get to be around something I love, plus I get a discount! It is only part time but so far it has been awesome. And I will defintely learn lots there, and have learned a few things already.

Buddy's bumps on his cannon bones have seemed to gotten bigger, or the one on his left front seems to have anyways. So I will be getting a vet out to look at them sooner or later. They don't seem to bother him that much, but I know I first noticed them when I had him at the barn while I was working there and they haven't gone away. I was told they are splint bumps, which sounds terrible and scares the crap out of me.

I have updated pictures of him, although, he looks the same. I'm supposed to be going out to see him tomorrow, so I will be getting more pictures of him then. If I don't update his pictures tonight after blogging I will most likely do it tomorrow as I don't work & my computer has been acting up lately.

I hope everyone has been good and have been enjoying time with their horses. I hope the weather has been cooperative and not too hot!!

-Buddy & Jasmine

We received 1 ¾” of rain last night-the wind was unbelievable!!! I had to go and get feed and grocery’s yesterday and by the time we were finished it was too hot to ride. I did get fly stuff on the boys and checked the fly mask and then just watched them graze for the evening! Working the weekend but will try to do something with them after work but it will be to muddy to ride. Here is our finial tidbit on the Fabulous Rocky Mountain Horse Breed!
*TOBE was used for breeding until July of his thirty-fourth year, and he passed on his gait, disposition, and other great qualities to his offspring. It has been said that TOBE's progeny followed in his "perfectly-timed" footsteps. TOBE sired many fine horses before his death at the ripe old age of thirty-seven. One outstanding trait passed on was longevity, as many of his offspring were still breeding into their late twenties and early thirties.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

* Even through the hard times of the Depression and World War II years, Sam Tuttle kept a sizable herd of thirty to forty horses on his farm. Sam is considered as the man most responsible for the survival of the Rocky Mountain Horse. TOBE was the primary Rocky Mountain stallion used in Sam's breeding program. In the 1950s, many people were selling their stallions, and the horse population in general was rapidly declining due to tractors and farm machinery available. Even so, breeders remembered TOBE, and he was always in demand for stud service. People brought their mares to TOBE from several different states, and he was as famous in Estill County as MAN O' WAR was in Lexington, Kentucky. Everyone who rode TOBE fell in love with him. TOBE's offspring were always in demand, and Sam never had any trouble selling all the Rocky Mountain Horses he could produce.

This heat. Living in the desert, it's expected, but geez! Lol. Scruffy's ac is on, from early morning, until late at night. I filled 2 water bowls for him. Sadie's mister is on and staying on. She backs her butt up to it and loves it. Suppose to reach 115* today. I need to put the tarp up, on her shade, to help keep the sun off of her. She hates it, because it flaps when the wind blows, but shade is shade. Hoping you're all staying dry and cool. Love always and a vote.

Good late morning vote!!!
Got a short shower this morning, hope no more comes. I was planning on doing ground work with Darby. I'm working on his behavior on top, then I'm going to start teaching him barrel racing. He knows the cloverleaf pattern, he just has an attitude while we ride. Hope your Sunday is getting off to a great start, love and best wishes***

Whiskey’s mane & tail change colors several times in the year by going lighter then darker. His body color changes as well. He truly loves his bath time and grooming, he trailers well in any type I load him in, and will load without heisting at all. He is also my bareback horse. Perfect back for it so if I don’t feel like putting the saddle on I can always just get myself up on him and go at any time. He is the type that will come to you every time from the field or anywhere. I guess that’s the treat hound in him lol.
* The Rocky Mountain Horse breed originated in the United States in the late 1800s, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky. At the time of its beginnings, there was no understanding of the need to document anything about these horses. The people living in this region were quite unaware that one day their utility horses would become the foundation of a special breed of horse. The existence of these horses was practically a secret for many years to all but the inhabitants of this region.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it!
