How We Met

My old horse became permanently lame after being lame for 8 months straight, so it came time for her to be a broodmare and for me to have a horse that did NOT have any lameness issues (knock on wood). He's my dream horse and I love him to pieces!!.

John 3:16 (NIV)3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

HI, I was in contact with Angel Doobie's (#211407) owner today and she would like to share her feelings about Angel Doobie with you. This is what she said: "
Besides being the best horse in the world. Let's see he had a uniqueness about him in that I think that I found and not his owner. Also he was super fun to ride. He had this huge canter stride that most people probably would not have been able to sit too but I could. He was just one of those horses that you could drop the lead and he wouldn't move. As a matter of fact I forgot something in my car one day. I of course had him on lead, I didn't know that I had let the lead go until I shut the door and looked down. I saw that the lead was completely on the ground."

I love my Fancy and I love to adore the beauty in all horses. To own or lease a horse so sweet as Angel Doobie is a dream come true. There are many of us here of HC that are living that dream right now!

Still rainy here in NC. We are expecting rains for several days. It is not so bad. But sun shine is so much better ♥

I have been pondering upon a question of my own righteousness. LOL! I grant you the truth I am no different from the lowliest, I have my moments, I don't always make the right choices. I guess my difference would be I believe in God's forgiveness through Jesus Christ. That makes this time of year all the more special.

Love and a peaceful night to you ♥

HI! I wanted you to see how cute the winner of our costume contest is so I loaded some pix at the bottom of Fancy's page. The first place winner is the very first photo there. Look quick because I will have to delete those photos soon ")

I also entered Fancy in the HorseChannel costume contest. If you have time, please vote for Fancy each day. I know it is a bit much to ask right now because I am off line soooo much.
I am trying to get straightened out. I have yet another hurdle to cross. This Friday September the 27 I am having my first carpal tunnel release surgery. Soon as it heals, I am expecting to have the procedure on the left wrist. I will be offline Friday and off and on line depending on how my hand or wrist feels and if I am woke because I will be taking my pain meds. I have grown into a huge wimp when it comes to pain.
I have no idea how the coming days will be for me. I plan to be back with you soon. Fancy misses sharing her regular perceptions with you ♥

Here is a good night vote from Fancy and family.

I am back on my feet, after a fun and tiring weekend. I worked on my project for weeks. Making changes and trying to figure out the best way to make it work.
My husband expected me to cancel out of the show Saturday because I was already sick with this head cold and moving slow. But you know me, I took meds with me and went at it. Saturday our family went with our friends to the halter show at the fair.
Cowboy decided he did not care for showmanship. He had fun with the other children watching and roaming around.
In our first three classed Fancy was very well mannered and many spectators and other came to visit after the classes and tell us how well behaved Fancy was when the other horses were not being still or standing. Well Fancy must have decided to show them that she can be a wild thing too because in our next two classes she went monkey see, monkey do. She did not act bad as some, but I kept having to tell her to stand.
Our next to the last class was Showmanship, and Fancy was horrible. She did not listen at all. She got last place in that class. But in the other four classes she placed very well. Even winning two first places earlier in the day.
Our last class came up after showmanship. The costume class! Just what I had been working on for weeks. After the showmanship class, I tried to hurry and get into costume. We were listed as the second to enter the arena. I was not ready. All the other entries were in the arena and folks kept coming to see if we were ready. I finally got Fancy ready and I didn't have her tail in good, but it did not fall out. Since I was already late, I decided to skip wearing the homemade poodle skirt I spent time making. That was the only bummer. But we still had fun.
Everyone was in laughter as Fancy approached the arena. I never had so much fun! I was happy the baby won first place! That is just how it should be. And I was happy Fancy placed 4th.

Evening storms for the past two days. Expecting to continue Monday. I am sure we will have a find Labor day, but there will be nothing special going on here.

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS: Joyful trust in God will get you through any trial.
How do I consider it joy in the middle of a trial? By knowing what God will do as a result of the trial or temptation. The trying of your faith worketh patience. The concept is that you are tested for the purpose of being accepted, received, and welcomed. (Bible Studies For Life)

Hi Haily & herd! Glad to see you were able to get on HC!

♡ I’m back to a regular computer! I had a really nice 4 day vacation. The mornings were cooler but the afternoons were HOT!! I rode each morning, 2 rides on Deacon & 2 rides on Whiskey. Thursday morning was the best ride. I packed yellow fence insulator’s to put around the fence line in the back bottom turnout. I packed the wire clips that attach the barbless wire to the t-post and Whiskey & I rode the whole property mending fences! It was fun and he is such a blessing be around. He is so gentle, kind and loving. I also had a spa day for them. They enjoy that.

Have a wonderful weekend! ♡

Sorry I have not been online much this week. My husband is on vacation and we were getting Cowboy ready for 7th grade. We were hardly home all week. Thursday we took Cowboy to meet his teachers. We were surprised to find out Cowboy was promoted into the AIG classes! We were very happy but surprised that no one told us before hand. Cowboy's classes begin Monday!!!

Trigger is back in the space with Fancy. I have learned to put more than one hay station out and Fancy and Trigger seem to be happy and peaceful. However Fancy does chase Trigger just for the fun of it. It does not look like she is being really mean to him. She does not like to eat with him. But I did see her let him eat hay with her for a little while.

Have a blessed night ♥

Alliance went riding in a western saddle and did well! We are going to try Wolken’s English saddle on her as she will definitely grow into it! Off to feed Anka, alone until tomorrow.

I'm really hoping to see some improvement. In the meantime, I'm still doing my therapy and I had another short ride on Charlie, David says " you can ride, you can work, tomorrow morning off you go" we'll see about that..I have a visit with Dr. Le Bel next week, hopefully she gives me a good report. talk soon, Love Donna Lee

Hi Zeuss, here's a vote for ya. Prayers for your brother the Marine! And Prayers to for KoKo that her foot will grow a better hoof and she'll be more comfortable soon! Karen called me at like 6:30am and said I'll be up, raining down here, can't go and workout my outside south jersey horse. So I'll see ya. See worked Paige in a snaffle and really worked on bending and flexing and lot's of suppling exercises. She has a game plan going all ready to really better the mare. And the new farrier has her moving so much better, all the way around. Those shorter toes behind made a big difference. My other farrier wouldn't listen to me to take off more toe, now she jogs true and in place! Looks so pretty when you watch her move, like the mare I purchased a year ago. What a difference proper shoeing can make! Then gave all three of them baths today. Got very hot and humid after an early morn thunder storm! Back is feeling a little more better each and every day! Maybe I'll ride tomorrow. Marion and the blondies.

Thursday evening after cleaning up the corral, I enjoyed a soothing time with Fancy. Fancy noticed her halter in my hand when I came out of the building and she came right to the gate. I took her out for grass and did some desensitizing with different size and color plastic jugs I had tied together. Then I asked her to walk across a huge cardboard box that had been rained on.
We went into the corral for some showmanship and halter practice. It has been several weeks since I asked Fancy to stand or park out. She was with me on everything that I asked her to. THEN, at the end of our practice, my little Fancy parked herself out. I wish I had someone there to video this! Fancy stretched her front legs farther than ever. And I didn't even ask her! I mean she really stretched so far that her back near hoof came off the ground a little. I did not even ask her to park out and she was letting me know that she was willing and wanted to give me her best try. I can not even find words for how special she made feel. Wow. That really blew me away.
Then Cowboy came outside. Cowboy wants to show Fancy in the youth halter class at the fair. So I tried to show him what to do and let him try. Don't know if he will be ready by fair time in September. When sunny skies return to Carolina, I plan to see if Cowboy can work with Trigger for the halter class. They already work very well together. But we don't know if Trigger knows what to do. I do not know if I can teach both of them in a short amount of time.
After Cowboy worked with Fancy, I let Fancy eat some grass in the back yard. I have never had a horse so sweet as my Fancy.
Has your horse ever blew you away by doing something extra sweet?

Our horseshow has been rescheduled due to expected rains coming in Saturday. That gives us more time to practice.

Have a nice weekend.

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS, My Owner: “Features a selective sense of smell: bitterly complains about hubby's sticky sweet cigar smoke, while remaining totally oblivious to the almost visible aroma of her barn boots drying next to the heater.”

Thanks for your kind words and encouragement towards me, my family and each other here on HorseChannel. We all need encouragement at some time or another. You never know when you have made someone's day just a little better ♥

Just as us Carolinians began to complain of the heat, we are cooling down again. LOL! I think the horses love it. We are having showers or a storm almost every evening.
Cowboy is thinking of school now. He wants more summer. Trigger is quiet and easy going as usual. My brother brought some squash to me from a man that I gave manure to this past summer. I searched the internet to find out if it is safe for horses to eat squash. It is safe, so Fancy had some home grown squash today. Our whole family ate squash today. I thought it was only fair to share with Fancy since she helped produce them ")
Have you ever given your horse squash, Maybe something totally different?

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS, My Owner is: A culinary perfectionist: checks every section of hay for mold but doesn't blink when she petrifies dinner in the microwave.

Hi. We are expecting more rain and heat in Carolina. I have not been able to practice for the upcoming horseshow. I need to do that this week.
Saturday Cowboy and Trigger enjoyed fun horse games before the trail ride with our club. Fancy screamed the entire time we were away. I felt bad to leave her, but it turned out best that way. I did not ride Saturday. I sat under the shelter with my friend's young grandson while the others rode the trials. I also spent the day taking photos of everyone having fun! I enjoyed taking the photos. I will post some tonight or tomorrow.
Today after church my husband cleaned Fancy for me just so I could get photos with her while wearing my new helmet. It did not take long to take a few photos and then I was grounded again. I applaud all riders wearing helmets. I never thought I would like wearing a helmet. I braided my hair back and put it on. It was very comfortable. I didn't think it was any hotter than any other hat I wear. And it did not even look goofy. I know if I had not won it, I don't know when or if I would have purchased my own helmet. And I did learn that wearing a helmet is a cool thing to do.

Now I can practice what I preach to Cowboy! Like several of you have told me, wear your helmet or consider getting one because it is the safe thing to do.
I just love new experiences. (the positive ones, that is)

Has anyone chosen the tshirt from the HC rewards? Let me know what you think about the tshirt. I love it! If you are considering using your points for a tshirt, it is very comfortable and soft. I am wearing it in my new profile photo with my new helmet ")

Hi! Fancy is enjoying a late snack of watermelon as I get ready to call it a night.
Can you believe school will be starting so soon! In just a few weeks!

My husband and Cowboy seem fine. Cowboy’s bumpy is almost unnoticeable and he says he feels fine. We still keep an eye on him. Yesterday I walked up 2 flights of stairs to visit an attorney on the second floor. Halfway up, I became nauseous, dizzy, and I just felt horrible. These feelings became worse as I got higher. I have never had this feeling before. I wanted to get my photos with Fancy today, but it was cool and rainy. But today did turn out to be a nice day after all.

I had a really good ride on Cherokee yesterday. I rode him to a place he had never been before so he got a little excited but he didn't spook or anything. We are planning to buy the palomino filly! We have a family reunion this weekend so we wont be getting her till next week sometime. I am hoping to go see her sometime this week though :)

I have decided to blog about famous horses this month for Cherokee's HOTM run. First up is Adios, a famous Standardbred harness racing horse.

Adios is considered by many harness historians and pedigree experts to be one of the most important and influential pacing sires of modern times. Adios is credited for transforming the Standardbred breed, and for producing some of the most notable sires and dams in the history of the sport. His influence in not only felt in North America, but in Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain.
As well, no one in harness racing can mention Adios and not think of Hall of Famer Delvin Miller in the same moment. The two had a connection after Adios finished his racing career, winning 43 races, and finishing one-two-three in 83 of 87 career outings. Back in those days of multiple heat racing, Adios was the king-setting records over half-mile ovals for one, two and three heats. As a freshman he was the leading money-winning pacer in North America among ALL pacers, not just two-year-olds. He would go on to excel in his later years as well, setting track and world standards at ages four, five and six over all sized ovals.

Have a wonderful day♥

Hi Zeuss, here's a vote for ya. Hope you win Best in Show at the Fair! Glad to hear that Zeuss is really working out for ya. Well we did very well at the show! Even put half a national halter point on Paige in Amatuer Mares class. We placed in everyone of our classes under all 4 judges! Karen got three 2nds and one 3rd in the Green Open Western Pleasure. I placed one 3rd and three 4ths in my Select Amateur Western Pleasure classes riding her. I was very happy. And little Ella won, yes 1st place under one of the judges in her showmanship class with Indy. And she also got one 3rd and two 4ths with him under the other judges. She didn't ride him, all the fair activity made her nervous and that made him a little up. So we will practice at the Palomino show this week with her, it'll be more quiet there! So all in all, it was a good show. We did get rain on Thursday and some more on Saturday, but not to awful bad. Did get wet, but that's what happens when they don't have an indoor arena to show in. I grabbed Whiskey’s halter and took off to the pasture. Well, to my surprise he was running & running, just breezing himself. Deacon & Rocket were standing by the fence line just watching him. I looked at them and they looked at me like “he is crazy” lol. He ran for around 15 – 20 minutes! Once he done I walked over put his halter on and loaded him up! Comical, can’t be mad at a horse for feeling GOOD!

Cliff is feeling like himself again thank goodness! He finished shredding the pastures and worked around the property like nothing was ever wrong with him; what a blessing!

We will have triple digit temps for 7-10 days. The last 3-4 have been pretty hard on us. I will probably not haul out every other Saturday as usual until this heat lets up. The farmers have finished harvesting the corn fields around us so I can ride around the property now. I sure hope everyone had a nice weekend as well! ♥♡♥

Come visit me, ♥ Deacon ♥.

Good Morning, we left a vote today. Not much new, Sterly still WON'T eat hay, I spent hours yesterday trying to find suppliers of Chaffhaye or what we call Horselage or Silage here, seem it was popular about 15 years ago, but there were some botulism issues, it doesn't seem to be readily available, I will keep looking, I did speak with(via e-mail)a vet that specializes in feed and nutrition, he suggested some 2nd or 3rd cut alfalfa hay because it is softer and also beet pulp, but he wants to see her Cushing's #'s first. In the meantime, she looks great, is eating grass, thank God we are past the dangerous spring grass and she has her 3 bucket meals, I keep looking at her, silently asking her to try some hay... Have a great day, talk soon, Love Donna Lee

Leaving quick votes then I'm off for bed.
How was your weekend? Today was kind of hot, oops, we are expecting another cool down. I like these cool downs ")
I will try to get photos with Fancy Monday or Tuesday. We did not get to ride this weekend. We have a horse show coming up this month! Fancy and I have to brush up on our showmanship again. If I make this show, I will be sure to stop behind the cones.

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS, My Owner: “Upholds the double standard: smooches with the most bewhiskered beast; but recoils when hubby needs a shave.”

LITTLE COWBOY CLASS/Word of the Day: “Fence: Barrier that protects good grazing.”

Prayers for Buddy's owner (profile #40019) She lost her Grandmom last week ♥

Have a peaceful night ✞
Love from Fancy & Frances ♥

Hi Hailey and Koko, Song & Zeuss
Good Morning, we posted a picture of Charlie's hoof, Greg looked at it yesterday, he opened the crack and cleaned it out, it was a bit chalky, but he could not find a track, usually White Line Disease grows up the hoof wall and you can follow the track, he told me to keep it clean and use the 17% iodine on it to keep it dry, because it is open to the air, if there were bacteria, it will die and the iodine will kill what is there. So sad 'cause it was almost grown right out. He will be fine, thanks for all the prayers and positive thoughts, Sterly still isn't eating her hay, Dr. Cook says just give it a bit more time, she is managing well with grass and several small feedings, we left a vote, Love Donna Lee

Hi Hailey and Koko, Song & Zeuss
Good Morning, we left a vote. If we are looking for small improvements, that is what we have, Sterl seems interested in her hay, but she just can't quite bring herself to eat. Overnight I'd say she ate a little bit, I'm not seeing any wads of chewed up stuff. Maybe it just takes time, as for Charlie, Greg had to bump to this afternoon, the truck was in the shop. He has no lameness, I just need to be sure the crack is clean. Have a great weekend, Love Donna Lee

(}---{) TGIF! I am looking forward to my weekend off. Yes, I will be hauling out early in the morning for a wonderful ride with Whiskey. I do have a friend that is supposed to meet me but I never take stock in anything until it happens! I have enjoyed my time riding by myself so it doesn’t matter one way or another. Limited time over the weekend but will try to leave some phone votes! It has been so hot here…102 but feels like 105 and yesterday was 103 real feel was 107…so I will do what I can early Sunday morning . Maybe short ride at home then some work around the barn and pastures?!! Love to you all!
