Hi BJ & Gracie, here's a vote for ya. All kinds of things done again today. But it was only 54 when we got up and didn't go above 71 all day. It's like one day you can fry eggs on the driveway and the next you're feeling like a frozen pop cycle! Went over and we worked out Paige, she's doing good, just wish she would kick that hip that good for me. My darn legs just aren't that strong! Now we might be leaving late, really late tomorrow afternoon. Just so we can get a camper hook-up! Seems the darn Fair People have taken up all the good spots and it's getting to be slim pickens all ready! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Construction of the ice blanket will start tomorrow, am using socks for pockets. Got Cisco's white mesh fly sheet out and cleaned and will sew at least 3 down each side, 1 on each side of the hip and 1 on each side of the chest. Just need to ask the vet how long to leave it on. Will also start putting ice blocks in the water tubs in the afternoon. Whew. Thank God we only topped out at 86 today, and is supposed to be relatively cool thru at least Sat. Cisco enjoyed his new guilt free treats: celery sticks. Meg and Nugget weren't interested.

Het there BJ and Gracie! The weather's turned nice again for this week! Feels like riding weather to me!
Cutter's leg is healing well. It looks so much better, praise the Lord! Since when we came to the barn all the stalls weren't fill, the girls got a stall the could come into from the pasture; but now another stalled horse in coming. So we've moved the girls to a lean to off the barn. It's great since it's very assessable from their pasture and quite large. I think they'll enjoy it! There's also a new horse here, an older gelding named, Danny. He's in a run right now, but he will be turned out in the pasture with Dolly and Cutter soon. I hope that goes well... Our girls have been the only ones in the pasture so far.
Oh, I have wonderful news on Adeline! She has come home from the hospital! Thank-you so much for your prayers! The Lord is good!
Have a blessed day! Left a vote!

Hi BJ & Gracie, here's a vote for ya. Busy day on the farm. Got the LQ Trailer moved to the load up area and started to pack some stuff for this weeks trip. Lunged Indy and did some showmanship with him. Turned him and Bullseye out and then mowed pastures 1 and 2. Did a few more things and saw some really big dark clouds moving in. Got Indy in, then Bullseye and said let's go Harley dog, hurry up and close the indoor arena doors, we're gonna get thumped on! Just as we were walking up from the barn, it came out of no where! Poured on us, not even a little drizzle or spit first, just womp! Lasted all of about 15 minutes, but strong winds and heavy rains! Then the sun came out again, but it still stayed cool and breezy! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

102.7 today, front finally came thru about 3:30 and cooled down to 97. Bathed Nugget about 12:30, ck'd about 3 and she was very hot, so back out with ice. I think if I make some pockets in Cisco's old fly sheet, I can make an ice blanket for her which should help. Very nice ride on Cisco today, he was a very good boy. Did a LOT of trotting and some cantering, then worked obstacles, especially the figure 8 back thru. He's wanting to hurry, so I'm trying to make him do it one step at a time.

Hi BJ & Gracie, here's a vote for ya. Was a hot and humid one today. I know that 86 with a feels like 90 is nothing to some of you, but for us that have winter in the single digits and below zero, it's super hot! LOL! Went over and Paige got her lesson with Marissa, western pleasure, then lot's of new trail course work and then onto some trotting and cantering for her english work. Then I got on and rode her, did some pleasure, trail and horsemanship. By the time little Emma (I was calling her Emily) got on her, Paige was out of gas! We put her youth saddle on Paige, so her legs were in the stirrups and she could kick Paige to get here to jog, Paige said naw I don't think so. So I had to jog on foot next to her to get her going! She was on about 15 minutes, had fun and said thank you. Can I walk her over those trail poles, sure and the mare went right over all them in a beautiful little manor. What a good mare! Love that horse. Got home and my friends that trim Bullseye came over and trimmed him up for me. To hot and too buggie, so gave them hay and they were happy. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Long, hot day. We got up to 103.5. Finished clipping Nugget, mostly clean up and took the mounting block out and finished her back. Worked Cisco's butt in the round pen, he was huffing and puffing and really worked up a good sweat. Got him cleaned up, checked Nugget and she was really hot so power water raked her, too. Ck'd her about 4, again really hot, so took a block of ice out and rubbed over her neck and chest, she felt better after that. Also took the spare water tub out and put it close to the shady spot so she wouldn't have to walk so far to get a drink.

Good morning, first, I'm sorry if I missed anyone yesterday, HC has been so S L OW. It took forever to do my blogging. Second Cookie came around yesterday and did teeth, yippee, Sterly did not require the power float, she was looking good, he is generally p;eased with her, Charlie did well with his float also, however, my boy has developed a vice and I wonder if anyone has a suggestion....at night in his stall, he stands next to Sterly's half door and he kicks the wall (wood), it is hard to describe, not directly behind, but the wall that he is standing parallel to. I'll get a picture this morning and post it. Dr. Cook is worried, me too, that he will eventually injure his hocks, he does it on both sides, depending on which direction he is facing. HELP. David suggested fastening rubber matting to the wall to absorb the shock. Dr. Cook said, like any vice, it is sometimes very difficult to stop once they have made it a habit. We had a nice ride yesterday, hope to today before the rains come, all week....We voted, Love Donna Lee

On Wednesday I had a friend over for the night and for most the day on Thursday. She loves horses and used to have one so she knows how to handle/ride horses. We went riding Thursday morning with Misty and Sierra. My friend rode Misty and I rode Sierra. We rode around the fields on the tractor paths and back to the creek crossing. Misty went on through but Sierra didn't want to get her feet wet. I am planning to take her back there again soon to work on getting her to go across. We had a really fun ride and the mares were good. Later on we also rode Cherokee and Dakota bareback for a while. This morning I rode Sierra again and took her out around a large circular field near the farm. Around the bottom of the field it is dirt but there is corn planted around the top. We were trotting along on a loose rein around the dirt part when suddenly behind us something started crashing around in the corn field. Must have been a beef cow that got out. Sierra bolted into a dead gallop for a ways until we came to some tall brush and she swerved sharply back around. I just barely managed to hang on when she swerved. She settled right down again then and we went on our way around the field. We trotted some more and had a nice little lope. I was glad I was able to expose her to a "scary" situation. It seems like she has been getting bored working on circles and such in the pasture but she really seems to enjoy getting out and exploring new places. She has so far been doing really well not being barn sour or trying to get back to Misty. Any problems we encounter I am able to work her through pretty easily. I am still getting used to the fact that she is now my filly-I feel very lucky!
I have been working on Cheyenne's lunging and she has been doing really well. We are working on voice commands and reversing. She is catching on.
Hope your weekend is going great :)

Glad you finally got in a ride with your niece. Took the weight tape out and got a baseline on everyone, then will reck them every couple of weeks. Cisco got another really good workout, just too stinkin' hot to ride by the time I got out there. Good news - the vet is also coming out Thurs - Nugget WILL get her feet done one way or another. It's supposed to be relatively cool Thurs so that's good. Will also give 2 grams of bute before he comes out. So glad to be done clipping, I hate getting all sweaty and being covered in horse hair. I do have a bit of "cosmetic" trimming to finish, but basically am done. Cheryl & Cisco

Good Morning all, the forecast is for rain, grrrrr, it is suppose to be nice tomorrow. Charlie and I had a nice ride yesterday after work, it was not too hot, Charlie can't stand the flies, he gets so distracted, plus he is so thin skinned, they bite and he is such a baby. I have a bit of an update on Trevor, we are so happy, his Petscan was good, still shows lots of inflammation in neck and throat area, but they think that is residual from all the radiation, the lymph nodes are clear, that is good, right? His blood work was excellent and altho we understand that the tumor is still there, his oncologist says he is right where she wants him to be, next check up 3 months, hallelujah. Hi BJ & Gracie, here's a vote for ya. Well with HC, DC and Small Animal Channel down all morning, I had lots of time for extra work outside. LOL! Got over by Paige and Marissa worked her both western and then changed to english. Paige was really good at both today. So Marissa said lets quite on that note and you give her a nice bath to cool off. Just finished with her bath and she's in her stall on the wall eating her afternoon alfalfa lunch snack and little Emily comes with her saddle. OOPS, didn't think you were coming, it's late now. And she really wouldn't be ready to show her anyhow tomorrow, so it's just as well. But we set a time for 12 noon on Sunday for her to have a lesson on Paige. She was happy with that. I got home and turned Indy and Bullseye out, they of course loved that. I'm going over to watch some of the show after I go to Marissa's and lunge Paige and practice my showmanship work. Then go watch some of her other students show, then off to a BBQ for little while. Busy Saturday for me. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi BJ & Gracie, here's a vote for ya. Beautiful day out today! Storms last night were all around us, but never did hit us! But it moved that hot humid weather out and it's cool with a really nice cool breeze! Went over to Paige's and she was really great today! I didn't get to ride today, it was all about the boss riding and really moving those hips over. Marissa worked on her western riding lead changes, awesome! Then she asked if little Emily could ride Paige. There's an open show on Saturday and Emily's horse had surgery 4 weeks ago and is still out of commission. So she rode Paige and did very well, tomorrow we'll put her saddle on Paige and see how well she can really make her walk and jog. Did a video, very cute, but of course HC is still out of order on posting videos!!!! Got home and put the other two boys out for the afternoon, they loved their grass time again and with no bugs really! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Another 100+ day. Yep, Meg and Cisco weren't happy this AM. Got them up in the obstacle course, shut the gate, and gave them a cup of feed and some timothy pellets. Then Nugget came up, and two starving horses watched her leisurely eat her regular ration. She's doing so much better on the bute and have her about 95% clipped, should finish in the AM. It's going to take some doing to feed them separately, but I'll just have to manage. Will have to make sure Scott knows the routine though I'm not planning on going anywhere soon.

Hi BJ & Gracie, here's a vote for ya. What a hot humid one today! Hit 90 degrees with heat index of 97, and of course that was when we were working Paige out! Outside none the less, but there was a really nice breeze so it didn't feel as bad as it was! But the three of us worked up a lather! Paige, Marissa and then me on my horsemanship lesson and then a showmanship lesson, running or should I say jogging in that hot sand wasn't fun for me! I can sympathize with how poor Paige was feeling. Only she got a nice cool shower right away! Got home and just hayed Indy and Bullseye, cause the green heads were out in force. They really prefer the barn with all the nice big fans going. Right now waiting on a storm that's all around us, it's even saying we are getting rain, but it's so high up and the heat is so hot, it's evaporating before ground level! Wasn't good news today. She increased Nugget's med, and put her on bute for a few days - she's foundering. Hate that. She's so good about everything EXCEPT having her feet done and getting in the trailer. Will try Thurs when the farrier is out, but don't know if she'll let him trim her. More bad news - everyone is way too fat (especially Cisco), so dry lot for 12 hrs a day and Meg & Cisco's feed cut by 2/3 (they're only getting 2# a day). Finaly figured out how to feed Nugget separately - I am going to be SO unpopular when Cisco and Meg get to watch Nugget eat the regular amount and their buckets are empty. Have almost finished clipping her, should be done tomorrow and then Cisco goes back to work.

Hello! We had a great time of fellowship with our friends and got to show the our girls. That day the weather was perfect, a breeze and sunshine. But now it's turned hot and humid... oh well, praise the Lord for the nice days we have had! There's a new pony at the barn, and Dolly and Cutter are nervous about it. It's a sweet little pony though. It's not in the pasture with them; it's in a stall with a run. So far our girls are the only horses in the pasture; all the others are in stalls and/or runs.
Looking forward to cool weather again! Hope things are well your way! God bless!

Hi BJ & Gracie, here's a vote for ya. Today was the triple H day, hazy, hot and very humid! But I got over to work with Paige at our trainers. She had just finished lungeing her when I got there and Paige was wet all ready. Then Marissa rode her and gave her a good tune up! She was not wanting to get off her right leg and just leaning on Marissa's spur, that stopped after a little talk! LOL! Then I got to ride the cool down period. But then Paige was out of gas and looking to just walk and hang her head. LOL! Got home really late and it was very buggie, so the boys stayed in with more hay and in front of double fans. They were happy! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Still clipping
About a third done. Know anyone that buys horsehair? I clipped for an hour and a quarter today, then just had to stop. I still had 3 bars of charge left, think they'll run at least an hour and a half. 99 yesterday and today, add 6 degrees in for heat index and it's been pretty miserable. Horrible humidity, no breeze. Hoping it's a bit nicer tomorrow when the vet comes out, at least we're supposed to have a breeze. To hot when I get done with her to even think about riding Cisco.
