My Horse's Favorite Things To Do:

Pet Peeves: 9-24-14 We had a little set back the other day. She was super jumpy and skittish. When we were in the round pen and she jumped into me as a car passed by on the road and she never jumps from cars. I also set up one trot pole on the ground and she HATED that! i had to hand walk her over it then she finally got it that she can walk over it by herself. She did a lot better with them today, she voluntarily walked over them. I haven't gotten a chance to ride her until she calms down also I have been chopping down weeds in her new pen, Dave wants to move her to the barn so that he can use the round pen, he says that watching me work her inspires him to work with a few of the colts.
10-2-14: i have been concerned about the blue speck in Trouble's eye, so i had the vet check it today. report is that she is completely blind in her right eye and doesn't have good vision in her left eye! *jaw drops* im pretty tore up about it, i don't know why im so upset! i feel so bad for her, she has been so sweet and so willing. i don't know what to do, if i should sell her as a broodmare or ride her a little more.
10-5-14: Well, rode her once more and decided to just turn her out on the hill and try to sell her as a broodmare. I might catch her up and ride every now and then, but as far as her being my next project and show horse, I dont think thats going to work out. I really miss working with her and wished things came out differently!
10-11-14: Well I went out today a caught her up again. A lady called me today wanting to come out TOMORROW and look at her. It s really a mucky mess so hopefully she will come out next weekend, then i'll have a chance to work a little more with her! It was so good to see her again!

My Horse's motto: 9-9-14: finally put the saddle on her today, just took my time getting her used to everything, she has been accepting everything so amazing! ran her in the round pen with it, flapped the stirrups, jumped up and down beside her, pulled and tugged on the saddle, put one foot in and bounced and put a little weight, she took to it all real well! Never offered to buck or get ill! Didnt want to over load her, so next time i'll actually hop on her and ride around! Cant wait!
9-11-14: was planning on riding her yesterday, but i had an accident where a horse flipped over on me and i was sore, i didn't know if i could hang on if she went into bucking! but i felt better toady and FINALLY got to ride her! she lets me tack her up with out having to hold on to her or have to be tied up. she was just so calm, i walked her around the round pen and didn't ask for too much, she doesn't have much go to her. i also work on her feet every time after i work her and she lets me pick up the front ones, haven't asked for the hind ones yet.
9-13-14: Did ground work and rode in the round pen. Then I moved the boys out of the arena and rode her around in there, she doesn't have much guidance so i basically just let her walk wherever, she did really good for the 1st time out of the round pen!
9-15-14: Rode in the arena again, she seemed to have trouble turning to the right, she would throw her head up in the air, so i took her back to the round pen, tried getting her to flex and give to the bit, also I put her on the lunge line and she seemed to pick it up real quick!
9-19-14: She was so awesome today, i got a bunch of controlled trotting circles today! She is flexing to the bit good, lunges GREAT, stops from a trot from the word whoa. Could be more pleased. Also I got to ride her sire today, he is a 14 yr old line back dun QH. Rode him in the round pen and the arena, he hadnt been ridden in 4 yrs, he is cutting horse bred. He was pushy on the ground and wouldnt really stand still. But i enjoyed getting to ride her dad! I need to get pics of him and post them.

How We Met

9-1-14: ok, so i got another little project in the works!!! back in January when me and my friend bought the ponies from this guy i noticed this grulla filly and tried to talk my friend into getting her to break. but she wanted to get the ponies. well i have gone back this week and am working out a deal with the owner so i can break the filly at his place for him and then maybe show her next year and then sell her and we split the profits!
9-2-14: so I went to go see about the filly again today and Dave still hadn’t gotten her up yet, so I helped him catch her on his 60 acre pasture, now TN is not the flattest place so it was all up/down hill so it took forever to find the herd (eventually on the back side!). He said that she has never been worked with, never even been led. But leading her off the hill she did great, it was very helpful to have someone follow to encourage her. She is 4 yrs old about 14ish hands give or take. She is a QH, actually 1/8 arabian but for practical terms she is a QH. She definatly has the Arabian head and smaller hips.
9-3-14: I put her in the round pen for now, hopefully will move her to a lot once Dave moves other horses around. I went and cleaned out part of the round pen, it was so overgrown, the weeds were over my head! so i spent 2 hours pulling them out(thankfully it just rained and they came out easy!) and im not even done with it! She just stood by the rail and seemed to be going to sleep while i was flailin weeds over the fence!!
9-4-14: i did another 2 hours in the round pen with the weeds again today, this time i tied her up for about 1 hour while i worked, for her 1st time being tied she did pretty good, didn't freak out. then i stuck her in the pen with a bit for a while, she is so calm (knock on wood!) and lets me brush and pet all over her. next time i hope to spend most of the time working with her, im just itchin to ride her!
9-6-14: I worked on desensitizing bags and a whip to her, and even waved a saddle pad around and led her around with it on her back, she took to it all pretty good! Also worked on backing up, moving hindquarters and just moving off pressure. Very pleased with her!

Hi Miss Trouble, here's a vote for ya. I copied the link and then got to doing a bunch of stuff. But I have the link, hopefully tomorrow morning, as I don't have errands to run and things to do for a few hours. Rain to start the day, but warmer. Then clouds and sun. Got a lot more outside things done to be ready for winter. Also got Paige lunged and did showmanship and free lunged Indy. Then it was Bullseye turn to play inside. Got all four stacks of wood covered today and are working on spliting the 1/2 cord or more in the driveway. Busy Busy! Watched a few hours of Youth 14 to 18 Showmanship on the computer from the Congress, Marissa's student Alyssa made the finals out of over 200 entries in her class. But didn't make the final 20 for placings. But just to be in the top 40 out of over 200 is awesome! Marion and the blondes.

Come visit me, Nuttin But Good. Thanks Sing & Herd for #9300!, R.I.P. Hi Tech Image, #13700 Thanks Bella Boo/DC & MWS Zippn By Indy, Tkx Cisco & Herd for #17700!.

Lol, not creepy. I'm an ICU nurse. I like my work and have done it for years. Its inside, a lot of noise and people and crazy most of the time, so I REALLY enjoy the quiet solitude of being outside with my horses whenever possible.
Hope you're getting to enjoy these beautiful days from the back of a horse. Take care.

Come visit me, Allie & BJ and his mom,Gracie.

I put Sadie's fly spray in a different bottle, because the original bottle broke. For some reason, she didn't mind being sprayed. It's smells strong. hoping it'll last on her through tomorrow. Lots of love always and a vote.

Come visit me, SADIE *Voting Azteca 267836 Nov. HOTM*.
