Hey!
How are things going? Have you been helping with the horse summer camp thing?! I hope you've been learning!
I learned a lot about bad and good testimonies last Sunday. Testimonies are very powerful. A sure testimony can encourage one another, and a unsure testimony can confuse a person who might of had a little wisdom, and now has none at all.
We need to make our testimonies sure!
Have you ever read the book about Samuel Morris? He has a very powerful encouraging testimony about how God saved him!
Well I better get going! Lots of tasks to do around the house!
Blessings,
Mia

Hi Biscuit!
There's been a lot going on at the barn lately! Yesterday, the barn owner told me to start working with a horse named Marla. Marla is a bit of a brat, especially from getting away with all that she has. Her owner is a little girl in 3rd or 4th grade who doesn't do much with her. Marla has become pushy and somewhat disobedient so I am going to be working with her to correct her behavior. She's been doing mostly walking, and the occasional trot. Today, I took her out and did some ground work. When she realized she couldn't push me she was listening very well. Then I lunged her, and walk/trot was excellent. The canter, however, could not even be called a canter. As soon as she did, she sprang up in bucks and rears... Let's just say she'll be fun when I start riding her next week.
Anyway, Marla and Rosie are in the same pen. As soon as I opened the gate to let Marla in, Rosie pinned her ears at her and got very upset. I finally got Rosie clear of the gate and let Marla in.. And then Rosie chased after Marla. Jealousy problems much Rosie? I put Marla's halter away and got Rosie's and as soon as I walked back into the pen Rosie walked right up to me. I was like "Aww Rose, you just want me all to yourself don't you?" She's such a sweetheart.
Well it has been a fabulous day!
Hope yours was too!
Left a vote & lots of love!

Stopping by with a vote! Had a great mother's day and a busy week following it. My husband and I went birding Mother's Day morning and saw 25 different bird species on our 6 mile hike! Then I spent the rest of the day with my Mom and daughter planting flowers and went to dinner. This last week my friend and I have been busy around the farm. It was real warm (90s on Wed!) so we had to start early with exercising the horses. Then we spent the rest of the day getting things together to make packets for our horses, dogs, and cats in case of theft or an emergency situation. Talk about a huge project! We are almost complete just need a few more things and our packets are done. I need to do one more set of drawing of all the horses and their markings. A huge project in itself since we have 2 paints and an Appy in the group lol Katie is the easiest because she doesn't have any markings ;-)

Come visit me, Katie.

I rode Sierra for the second time yesterday. I rode her for a bit longer this time and worked on getting her to trot more. She is pretty lazy but she is catching on. We trotted some circles and then I took her around the pasture a couple times. I rode her in a bridle this time instead of a halter. I will try and get her to lope soon if I feel she's ready.

Old-timers like Frank T. Hopkins, probably the greatest long-distance endurance rider who ever saddled a horse, proved the virtues of the American mustang many times. A former dispatch rider in the United States Army, Hopkins developed his endurance-riding ability carrying dispatches for frontier generals and his horse-handling skill as a specialty rider in the Buffalo Bill wild-west shows. All in all, Hopkins won more than four hundred races in the late 1800's, when endurance riding was the rage, and for most of those rides he was mounted on a mustang.

One of the first proponents of the mustang and the Paint Horse, Hopkins became internationally known not only for setting unbeatable records in endurance racing but also for the excellent quality of the horses he rode. His ranch in Wyoming Territory was filled with a number of good western-type stock horses and one outstanding Paint Horse, Hidalgo. Described as a cream-and-white Paint Horse, Hidalgo was bred on a Sioux Indian reservation in South Dakota. Since he came into the world before the days of pedigrees and family lines, it can only be assumed that he was of "western stockhorse blood," and was descended from horses brought to this continent by the Spanish conquistadors. He was known as an American mustang and possessed the indefatigable endurance typical of the breed. Hopkins obtained the young Paint from the Sioux about 1882 and owned him until 1890.

Thanks for your support!

I know it's been a couple of weeks but I wanted to thank you for stopping by with congratulations for Shadowfax's win for horse of the day. It was such a nice surprise, especially since it came on what was a sad day for me. It would have been Melian's 5th birthday.

It was also a bittersweet celebration for Shadowfax as one of the equine actors that played him in the Lord of the Rings died the very same day. Blanco was 25 years old.

Thank you for stopping by to honour his memory. Leaving a vote to honour all dream horses.

***Congratulations to Sherry & Whiskey on winning HOTM***
Please vote for Sierra each day in May as she is running for June HOTM. I will be sharing some history on Paint Horses and the stories of some famous Paint Horses.
This breed's history, foundation and development most probably was identical to the American Quarter Horse with one distinguishable exception: Color. It is therefore no surprise that The American Paint Horse Association was thought to be formed primarily because The American Quarter Horse Association does not register horses with white body markings.

It's easy to understand why this is the second most popular breed in the US. Here's the recipe: Take a Quarter horse, add color and you get a Paint. For many, this is the most beautiful horse in the world.
Please vote for Sierra, we appreciate it!

Hooves crossed for Whiskey to be ~ May HOTM ♡
<)___~ Whiskey will return to the Doc on May 20th for his next set of x-ray’s. I feel he will be just fine, last dose of bute yesterday and I think in 2 days will tell a lot of how he is but I can’t know for sure until the next visit. I want to thank you all for all the amazing support throughout the month of April. I hope you enjoyed his story and I surely hope I can tell you many more story’s in the future of he & I riding together…God bless you all…..I honestly did not realize how difficult and demanding running for HOTM could be until now! Not having a computer at home really made this challenging for me, so again I cannot say thanks enough, sending love to you & your herds!!!!!!!
Here is our finial tidbit on the Fabulous Rocky Mountain Horse Breed! In the early 1960s, Sam Tuttle managed the trail riding concession at the Natural Bridge State Park in Powell County, Kentucky. He had as many as fifty horses there, including TOBE. This stallion was often seen tied to the hitching post alongside all the mares. He became quite well known in the ten or so years he was ridden there. Besides breeding, TOBE was used as a trail horse. He carried Sam, and sometimes the trail guides who worked for Sam, with sure-footed ease over mountainous terrain for many years. Although Sam would allow other people to ride TOBE occasionally, it was always a ride closely supervised. He loved to show off his beloved stallion, but also kept a close eye on him. Everyone who rode TOBE enjoyed his gentle temperament and comfortable gait. It amazed people to think the well-mannered horse they were riding was indeed a breeding stallion.
TOBE was used for breeding until July of his thirty-fourth year, and he passed on his gait, disposition, and other great qualities to his offspring. It has been said that TOBE's progeny followed in his "perfectly-timed" footsteps. TOBE sired many fine horses before his death at the ripe old age of thirty-seven. One outstanding trait passed on was longevity, as many of his offspring were still breeding into their late twenties and early thirties.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it! Hoping to see him as the top horse tomorrow!!!!!
