Hey there, Lucky! We're back!
We are now settled in! And my, it has been quite a move! Dolly and Cutter seem to be doing great at the boarding barn. My brother and I got to go ride them this sat. too! It was great to be in the saddle again! :D
We had an exciting experience on the way over. My Dad and two of my brothers rode in the moving truck, my fifteen year old brother, older sister and I were in the van with Mom who was pulling the horse trailer. (which she's never done before!) Well, all of a sudden I heard this strange noise, "What's that?" I asked. My brother listened, then exclaimed, "Mom, pull over a tire is out on the trailer!" Just to make thing a little more exciting, we were on a bridge. And I'm telling you that was longest bridge I've ever been on! We got off the road the moment we got hit the other side. Dad didn't see it happen for some cars had gotten in between us. We jumped out of car. I ran to the trailer and opened the front window, so sure the girl were in panic. They looked at me with wide eyes, but beside that they seemed fine and soon were quite content with some filled hay nets. My brother got out our jack and began to take the tire off. (Praise the Lord we had a spare!) A car stopped, and we relived to see it was a highway patrol man. He helped us and soon Dad realized we weren't following him and came back. It took us a while, but we were back on the road... With this and some other minor delays, our five hour drive became- nine! We arrived after dark and by the time we had the horses at the barn, we were to tired to unload!
So yes it's been quite a move, but things are beginning to calm down a bit. :)
I've missed being on HC and am glad to be back!
Hope Lucky and you are doing well! Have a great and blessed day!

Hooves crossed for Whiskey to be ~ May HOTM ♡
<)___~ Whiskey will return to the Doc on May 20th for his next set of x-ray’s. I feel he will be just fine, last dose of bute yesterday and I think in 2 days will tell a lot of how he is but I can’t know for sure until the next visit. I want to thank you all for all the amazing support throughout the month of April. I hope you enjoyed his story and I surely hope I can tell you many more story’s in the future of he & I riding together…God bless you all…..I honestly did not realize how difficult and demanding running for HOTM could be until now! Not having a computer at home really made this challenging for me, so again I cannot say thanks enough, sending love to you & your herds!!!!!!!
Here is our finial tidbit on the Fabulous Rocky Mountain Horse Breed! In the early 1960s, Sam Tuttle managed the trail riding concession at the Natural Bridge State Park in Powell County, Kentucky. He had as many as fifty horses there, including TOBE. This stallion was often seen tied to the hitching post alongside all the mares. He became quite well known in the ten or so years he was ridden there. Besides breeding, TOBE was used as a trail horse. He carried Sam, and sometimes the trail guides who worked for Sam, with sure-footed ease over mountainous terrain for many years. Although Sam would allow other people to ride TOBE occasionally, it was always a ride closely supervised. He loved to show off his beloved stallion, but also kept a close eye on him. Everyone who rode TOBE enjoyed his gentle temperament and comfortable gait. It amazed people to think the well-mannered horse they were riding was indeed a breeding stallion.
TOBE was used for breeding until July of his thirty-fourth year, and he passed on his gait, disposition, and other great qualities to his offspring. It has been said that TOBE's progeny followed in his "perfectly-timed" footsteps. TOBE sired many fine horses before his death at the ripe old age of thirty-seven. One outstanding trait passed on was longevity, as many of his offspring were still breeding into their late twenties and early thirties.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it! Hoping to see him as the top horse tomorrow!!!!!

We're Moving!
Hi there Lucky! How are you?! Hope you had a blessed Easter!

I just wanted to let you know that I might not be on a lot for the next while for our family is moving.
The house we are renting in Ks has sold and we're moving to Mo! There's sooo much to do! We're packing now, and things are really busy!!! The bad news is that the place we're going to doesn't have acreage so we'll have to board our girls. :( But the good news is that we've found a boarding stable just one mile away! We could walk to it! So they'll diffidently still be apart of our everyday life!
I'll try to be on when I can!

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:" Psalm 32:8

Here's a vote for you, Lucky Lou! Blessings!

Celebrating Easter with love, hugs & votes 4 all!
✞ Picking up from yesterday about him tossing his head about bugs. Sometimes I can make a pony tail in his fore lock and that helps a lot. I think he sees his hair sometimes and over reacts, big ol’ treat hound! As soon as we get under the trees on those trails he just stops tossing his head and settles right back into his awesome self. I will add Rocky Mountain facts to my blogs for the rest of our HOTM run. I hope you enjoy them =)
The history of the Rocky Mountain Horse from 1890 to the latter part of the 1900s carries little or no documentation and few facts that can be proven beyond the shadow of doubt. Everyone who personally witnessed the breed's beginnings (back to the 1800s) is deceased, and we have been left with only verbal history passed down from generation to generation. Thus, all that can be recorded at this point in time are the stories recollected by living descendants. Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

The more we rode the better Whiskey got at reining. The more miles and trails the easier it got on me and him. I discovered Whiskey loves the water. The picture today was taken 8/2012. We can get in a few minutes but I have to move him out or he will try to lie down, but I can take him right back in and then he settles to stand, doesn’t swim yet with me. We are still working toward that. We haven’t camped out in nearly 2 years, and that is when I can try to swim with the horses. It’s too hard to try swimming when I day ride because of the drive home (driving wet is no fun) -ha ha =) Deacon is my true water baby-he will actually swim with me and never try to lie down. I have also found that Whiskey hates for any type bug to fly in his face-so needless to say while we ride in the open if there are grass hoppers or butter flies, regular fly’s he tosses his head slightly. It doesn’t bother me now but it used to. Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

Finally that Saturday morning rolled around. I could hardly sleep the night before. Everything was running threw my head about what I was going need and about if I had everything ready for his arrival to our place. I kept thinking about how alpha Deacon was and how they would get along. After all they have road a thousand miles of trails together. . The more I thought, the more I felt like after the ride we would come on home instead of camping. I wanted to get him home and on our property to make this dream come true for me. I had never rode Whiskey until the day I bought him, can you believe that!!! It did not matter to me how he rode at all, I wanted him and that was that! We had a nice ride that day and came on home. Cliff broke out his tools and started working around the barn. Today’s picture is of Whiskey’s first comedy show for us. He said (ha ha) “Dad, I can bring this orange Home Depot bucket to ya, I know it has feed in it for me!” Enjoy! Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

whiskey is sending hugs & love
Monday we left off about Whiskey’s color and me with 5 hundred questions for Karla! Here we go…That poor girl had never met me before and I could not shut up :) I then walked over and looked Whiskey right in the eye and he looked back into mine and my heart sunk. His beauty was striking and the color was outstanding. He had a smart, sharpness about him-I’m sure he was thinking “what in the world is she doing”. The ride finally got underway; usually everyone has me ride out front and calls me the trail boss! Deacon is a faster walking horse but can ride in the middle or behind after the first hour or so. Well, here comes Rio & Whiskey with their smooth selves!!! They just gaited their smooth self’s right past me & Deacy. I watched Whiskey and noticed he didn’t quite move the same as Rio but still a difference from a QH. 2 hours into the ride we decided to rest a few minutes in a place we call “Carol’s lounge”. We have names for all our spots we ride to rest or to take a break out there because it’s so big. Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

Whiskey would love your support for his HOTM run
how are you doing? In 2008 the decision was made after a talk with our boy’s and Cliff. It was time for me to get back on my horse journey. I purchased Deacon in March 23, 2008 and then bought Whiskey in May 2010. When I run Deacon I will tell more about the 1st 2 years back on my journey. Now that you have some back ground on me and my journey I will start Whiskey’s story with me. As many of you know I trail ride and use to camp with the horses all the time, now we just day ride. Hoping this spring sometime to camp again-fingers crossed =) It has been 2 years sense we have camped out with them. We would camp at Mccown or Plowman Valley at Lake Whitney Texas or at Reynolds Creek Lake Waco, Texas. During those times I have met a lot of people and their different type of horses. On one Oct. weekend we had some friends of Bill’s that was coming that I had never met. I asked Bill as we all were getting our horses ready for our ride that day, what type horses did these friends have? He said Rocky Mountain horses…I said hummmm, never heard of that breed. The thoughts in my head about this breed had me so curious. Now tomorrow we are into his story fully….hang in there! Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

Early year’s cont. My brother-n-law took Tawny for me and kept her until she passed away in 2002. 2 years after the kick in the back I was brave enough to buy this smaller paint- Welsh mix. She was a beautiful tri-colored paint her name was Kallie. She was gentle and slower moving. She was fat of course ha ha. I didn’t have everything I needed (trailer, truck and knowledge). I had the property and a neighbor that would help me out. She had a quarter horse & we would ride the country side all around our properties. I had hoped to do more and learn more with horses but I was young and full of myself! Anyway, I then met someone and started dating and from there I got out of horses. That was about April 1991 when I sold Kallie. Then came along the start of my family in Nov 1992! The rest of our story will be of this last 7 years that I have had Deacon, Whiskey & Rocket (Rocket is Cliff’s horse). Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

Congratulation’s Queen Paige “Nuttin But Good” our April HOTM! Here we go with our campaign with Whiskey 237221 to be May 2014 HOTM! I need everyone’s support so vote on his page daily please!!! Every other weekend I am not around a computer so I will phone vote as many as possible, also 1 x a week that I will phone vote :) I will start my story with why I have and will ONLY have such well trained and gentle geldings, then I will start how Whiskey & I became each other’s very best friends along with some Rocky Mountain facts about the breed ♡ * Rocky Mountain Horses are slow to mature and do not reach their full size and weight until about five to six years of age. Generally healthy horses, they often live long lives but do have a tendency to be extremely "easy keepers". Care must be taken to keep your Rockies from becoming too overweight, particularly in their later years.* Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

Here it is Saturday morning 6AM, I just love this quiet time for me...I've been to the barn and Charlie and Sterly have had there buckets, as soon as it is light they can go outside to play in there tiny little muddy paddock. Hopefully the snow will soon be gone and they can stretch there legs in the larger area. The snow "mountain" is about half right now, but still dangerous. Trev is improving daily, thank you God, his next review is April the 12, my mission is to get a few pounds on him before then, wish me luck. Enjoy your weekend, we voted, Love Donna Lee

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. (John Ruskin)

Have a good night vote from Fancy & her little herd.

We are expecting snow come morning! How about this die-hard winter! Between 2pm and 3pm today, I watched Fatima eat. There was smoke coming out of her mouth. I took notice trying to figure out if it was her food and why? (I feed dry pellets) Anyway, I noticed, it looked like cold breath on a frosty morn. I held my head up and breathed into the air then looked. Sure enough, I saw my cold breath in the air! I could not believe it. It was chilly, but it felt no where cold enough for that.

A few of you asked about my hand. It is not as sore and the scar tissue has relocated. It is not in a ball anymore. It is L shaped now and extends towards the outside of my hand towards my pinky. I have not called the doc. I am waiting a few more weeks to see if it begins to go away.

Good night All ♥

Lucky is gorgeous and he sounds like an awesome partner.

As for not wanting to gallop clockwise, my horse had the same problem. If he's really bad, I'd advise getting a (horse) chiropractor to check him out and see if he is possibly out of place. That was my horse's problem. Or he could just be one-sided, so he'd need worked out. Anyway, good luck with him. Voted ;)
