I put Sadie's fly spray in a different bottle, because the original bottle broke. For some reason, she didn't mind being sprayed. It's smells strong. hoping it'll last on her through tomorrow. Lots of love always and a vote.

CHARLIE IS A STAR.....
Good morning, I worked 5 hours of OT yesterday. I feel like this cold is coming back, it has settled on my chest, I'm actually barking...today my Charlie will be the *STAR* the man I bought him from 6 years ago is going to come over for a visit. He loved Charlie as much as me, and when I bought him, he said, "I know Charlie is going to a home where he will be loved, that is all I want for him" I got him all buffed up last night, what do you bet he rolls in the mud before he gets here....Love that horse, have a great day, Love & votes Donna Lee

Pyranha Spray and Wipe is great, but Sadie doesn't like it. She always stands still when I spray her down but not with this stuff. I have to follow her around and spray when I can. I accidentally spilled some on my hand. The spray nozzle broke when it fell off the top of my dryer. Took about 7 hand washings, a shower and shampooing my hair to get most of it washed off. Using a glove next time. Love and a vote.

It rained at the beginning of the week, which meant no riding. I lunged Rose once this week. I also rode her tonight. We just rode around and had a relaxing ride. It was good:)

I have entered Rose in the costume contest! The picture is also the first one below my blogs. We are dressed up as Kristof and Sven from Disney's Frozen! We won 1st place at our playday dress up contest.

A day off sure goes by fast, doesn't it? The weather is beautiful, a little chilly at night. Living in the desert makes 60* seem chilly, Lol. Sadie's good. I sprayed her down with fly spray and let her out for a short while. Should be able to ride soon. Have to call the farrier out first. Love to each of you and a vote.

Please vote for Azteca for HOTM!
This is Teca’s very first blog for her very first shot at HOTM! So exciting! I won’t be doing blogs about her history because the very little I know about Teca is already posted in the “About Azteca” blog at the bottom of her page. Instead, I will be sharing true stories of everyday life at the barn and also some barn life through the eyes of Azteca. This is guaranteed to be interesting because anyone who knows Teca knows that life with her is never boring! Because I have very poor internet most of the time, I can’t get onto pages with many blogs on them. But I will be posting every day on Azteca’s page and on the Calendar of Agendas page and whenever internet is fast I will post blogs on everyone else’s pages too. So start pouring in the votes for Teca and hope we win! Thanks a lot! – Azteca and Her Girl

About Prince Teton
Breeder Rodney Nardelli must have smiled when he first saw the handsome little colt born to his mare. I like to imagine the little guy bouncing and bucking around his mama, then pausing to check out this new creature that leans over his stall door. He would have looked much like he does today, strikingly handsome, with loads of presence, the kind that makes passersby stop, back up, and have a second look. Nardelli chose a name that was a neat combination of his sire, Teton Forest, and dam, Princess Sequoya, and fit the little horse perfectly. Prince Teton. Prince Teton grew to a whopping 16.1 hands high, but the way he carries himself makes him seem like 17 hands at least. At two, this horse went into racing training and, with the right jockey, he could win anything. He sustained a sesamoid injury which put him off the track for a while, but before long he was back in the winner’s circle. In all, He won 12 out of 27 races and placed second or third in quite a few of the 15 he didn’t win. He won about 150,000 dollars. When he was six years old, his trainer retired him and put him up for sale. A man in Crittenden, KY bought him, seeing his win history and hoping to put him on the track again. Here was Prince Teton’s disaster. This man was a scrooge, caring only for money and nothing else. Prince Teton suffered. He lost weight, and his beautiful black hair faded to a pale bay. He lived in this awful barn for a year and a half. Meanwhile, my horses were coming along nicely, and I was looking for a new challenge.

About Prince Teton 2
I got the idea to buy an OTTB (off the track Thoroughbred) and train him for eventing or show jumping. I discovered Canter USA. I was scrolling through the ads, looking at so many beautiful horses, but none of them really “clicked” with me. I absentmindedly scrolled past the ad for Prince Teton that his former trainer had posted. Then, like many people had already done, I snapped to attention and scrolled back. My mouth dropped open. Here was a beautiful, handsome horse, dark brown, almost black, his awesome tail literally dragging on the ground. He was well filled out, well-muscled, and stood erect and proud, gazing into the horizon. His eye had a soft, kind look to it. I checked his pedigree. Impressive as well. I took down the number, even though the ad was old, and I didn’t think I could ever get my hands on such a horse anyway. I called his trainer, and he gave me Teton’s new owner’s number, saying that he thought the horse was for sale again. I contacted the owner, and we arranged for me to go see him. At the sight of Prince Teton, I deflated. His ribs were jutting out from his sides, his color was pitiful, and he had scratches all over his body. His eyes were dull and lifeless. I could have cried. I didn’t want to take on a horse like that, I wanted to start training right away, but I knew this horse desperately needed help, and I knew what the right thing was to do. I took Prince Teton home. I kept him away from my other horses until he was wormed and pronounced disease free. Then I let him out with my mares. They bonded right away and he became the lead stallion. I began to play vet right away. A trip to the real vet revealed that he had a mild urine infection due to dehydration and some skin problems, and he was treated for that. I took home lots of supplements and advice. I gave him a bath. I fed him sweet feed packed with supplements every day. Prince Teton responded by getting worse. I began to despair. He was losing his hair, his weight was going down even more, and he seemed even more depressed. I continued to fight for his life. Finally, after almost two months, he began to respond. His hair grew back to a dull black, but at least it was black. Slowly, slowly, his ribs covered up.

About Prince Teton 3
The most encouraging thing was the spirit he regained. We bonded quickly, and he began a daily routine of galloping madly around the pasture, bucking and sending huge chunks of dirt flying from beneath his pounding hooves. His eyes once again, had the peaceful, kind glow. The first time I rode him he proceeded to run away with me, but I persevered, and he is learning to slow down. He does well over ground poles and soon I will start him over jumps. He still has some minor skin issues, which are slowly clearing up, and he has bouts of colic which keep him on digestive supplements. But he is doing so much better than he was a year ago! The bond between us is very strong, and my Teton Boy would do anything for me, and I for him. He wants so much to please. He would probably try to climb a tree if I asked him to. He’s very intelligent, and when I introduce new concepts to him, he figures them out very quickly. It does me good to see him heartily eating his feed or strutting around in the pasture like royalty because I know what he’s been through and how he can now enjoy a good quality of life. He has some fears that I can only guess why he’s afraid of them, like hay racks and pliers. He is learning to face those fears, because in my barn they are only tools, and not something to be afraid of. I think Teton has a bright future ahead of him. He has a good jumping build and he obviously has natural talent because whenever he gets the urge he hops over his pasture fence and tries to find me. Once he starts jumping, I will find a rider for him and his first competition will be the Thoroughbred horse show in Lexington, KY, designed especially to start the OTTB in his new career. I’d like to encourage anyone looking for a new horse to find one who needs help. There are too many out there who need help and don’t get it. So many horses live their lives out in terror and hunger. As equestrians, we need to do all we can to help our companions.
