Hi Lilly & Suz, okay well it sounds like you have a decent amount of options if it does rain a lot which is good but what a bummer about the clay :( Koot is doing much better. I gave him a pretty good workout Tuesday and he wasn't sore or anything the next day so I think he'll be good for the show. Going to ride him again tonight and then turn him out Friday and pack up the trailer. Supposed to be pretty cold on show day. Voted. XOXO Danya and Koot

Yeah, I don't think any horse person is looking forward to the time change. Makes evening chores difficult.
That's a good idea- you could start on your children's books at work while you're waiting. Look forward to seeing them.

HI Lilly, here's a vote for ya. So you do get all 4 seasons out there. Just that fall and spring are really wet you say. Sorry about that! Now when you say that you have to carry water to the barn for a few winter weeks, is it cause the lines freeze up to the barn, or do you have to shut it down before it freezes and breaks? I bet up muscle up after that! LOL! Farrier was here by 9 am to shoe Paige and trim Indy. We switched Paige from aluminum shoes up front to steel for now. Jason also looked at Bullseye for me and I need to just rasp off a little on his outside walls on the fronts, they have him a little to high on the outside. So I did that. When they left, Jason and Jason his apprentice, I went back to finishing stacking that pile in the driveway! All done and cleaned up, measured it, just over a cord of wood. So that puts me at 5+ cords for this winter! Hopefully I won't use it all! LOL! But I'm ready, as long as it's not buried under snow! Have one pile left in the back yard, will stack what fits in the last stacking place and then burn out of the pile till it's gone. Might have to plow snow on the lawn there for the winter! Got Paige lunged and did showmanship work with her again. Then it started to rain like crazy, Indy was happy to stay in the barn and get his hay lunch! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Come visit me, Nuttin But Good. Thanks Sing & Herd for #9500!, R.I.P. Hi Tech Image, #13700 Thanks Bella Boo/DC & MWS Zippn By Indy, Tkx Mom, Paige, HT for #17800!.

do you go and hang out in the barn when its raining? I do! I have to sit and watch them for my horsey fix :) ♥ Feeling better each day about returning to my horsey world totally again! I rode Whiskey bareback for a bit after work. With the time change coming this weekend it will put an end to evening riding so I want to take advantage of it while I can. Right at dark guess what we smelled? Yep~ a skunk …oh boy-Cliff did not look to happy. It was year before last we had a skunk problem. Needless to say he put Rain (our JRT) in the house lol and out came the gun. He did get that one but there is another one I told him He said “why did you say that?” I said “because the one I saw the other day had a whole lot more white on it”….I believe I will have a few more skunk stories for you in the next few days !!! Have a wonderful day :)

Have you seen the video going around FB of the goats playing on the arched piece of sheet metal out in their pasture? They're having a blast jumping up on it and riding the "wave". I don't know how they stay on.
Rode Gracie a bit yesterday. She was apparently on vacation because it was like she was in deep mud-sooooo slow. Also, worked on the fence and then took all the kids-my son, daughter, and niece out to supper. Its rare that we are all off on the same day, and I always feel blessed to be able to spend time with them.
Your scenery in your FB pics is beautiful. Wish I could come ride with you. Take care.

Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya. That sounds like a lot of rain coming your way! UGH! Sounds like a plan, if you can make a new back belt for the chaps, that'll work fine. Well I still haven't ridden yet. I'm hoping in the next couple of days to give it a go! Today was spent grocery shopping and then, yep, stacking more wood. Almost done with the new pile we made in the driveway, gotta get that cleared out of my way. I so wanted to wash tails today, but even though it did hit about 72, it was overcast and windy. So I didn't want them getting wet. They did get out all afternoon for the little grass that is left in pastures 1 and 2. Dragged the indoor today and have the farrier coming Wed morn to shoe Paige and trim Indy. So hoping for either Thur or Fri for a ride! WHOO HOO! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Lilly & Suz, wow that is a lot of wet coming your way! Are you able to ride or does it limit what you can do? I know you do a lot of trails so I can imagine it probably gets pretty muddy. Ya I'm hoping it was just a stiff day for him. He's had this shoulder problem since before I got him so it's not a new injury. Usually if I trot him enough he's okay but he was acting stiff throughout the whole ride last time. We'll just have to see! Voted. XOXO Danya and Koot

Glad I did the competition and clinic, too. It was kind of like riding thru a haunted house (or pasture). Nugget worked well today, picked out all the feet and got a little more of the bad flare trimmed off. Short but nice ride on Cisco, possibility of rain tonight so had to get the hay covered (several tarps had blown off) and had forgotten about my hay bag in the back of the pick up, so got that out and all cleaned up. Sorry you're getting so much rain, but at least you have some gravel roads, and thankful that neither you nor Lily melt.

yes it is funny the way our horses watch every move so yes Lilly was laughing!!!!☆ Of course the wedding was beautiful and I am glad it is over though. This year with the wedding, merging of 3 hospitals systems at work and all the normal makings of life I am smooth wore out! I did ride Sunday & Monday and rested some. Now, time to get in gear for winter. We will pick up 100 bales of hay & 7 round bales next week. We are setting up the deicer in the tub and have it ready for whatever type of freezing weather that may come along. I will also go back to my riding schedule (hopefully) and get them boys in good shape. Have a wonderful day! Whinnies & hugs =)

Wow, yes, you should write those children's books and have your son illustrate them. That would be great! I think you should write about the chaps incident too, lol. And yay for finally getting a deadline on retiring from work, but hate that its another month you have to twiddle your thumbs.
We've been kinda dry down here this month, and its crept back up into the 80s so my fuzzy horses are a bit warm. Its been great riding weather though. Hope you and Lilly are doing well.

Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya. WOW, she does look a lot like you, I just figured with all the mud on the face it gave you a different appearance. LOL! Can you take the chaps to someone and have the waist part added to more width around the waist. Be happy, at least the legs still were the same as when you were showing, I've gone from small, to med, to large now on my chaps. LOL! What a nice sunny day, little breeze but made it to 66 degrees. My other neighbor across the street came over and cleaned my chimney for the wood burner, and covered the two A/C units. So that's done for the winter. Then I got them lunged and did showmanship with Paige. And started to stack that wood we got split yesterday. I figure about 4 days and I should have it cleared out. Tomorrow we're supposed to hit the 70's, wish I could give them baths, or at least wash manes and tail, but the darn pile of wood is in my wash area. Oh Well, pray for next week a warm. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

I can just picture Lilly watching you trying to get your chaps buckled up. Is there any way the belt can be made longer? Still taking it a bit easy, a little saddle sore after 5 hrs in the saddle Sat. Did go out and picked a 5 gallon bucket of pecans (Scott helped - he's doing fine) and worked a bit with Nugget. She's really getting the idea of picking up her feet for me.

Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya. Well it was sunny and very windy today. Then the sun disappeared and the winds remained. I decided to stack some more of that load of wood in the back yard and then was going to ride Paige. Well he comes my neighbor from up the road down my driveway, he says I saw Nick and Damion trying to split that wood by hand. Yep, it's not really going well, it's all hard wood and they did like 10 pieces in 2 hours. So Roland says, I'll go home change my cloths and bring my splitter over and we'll get'er done. Took about two hours and now I have another almost full cord all over my driveway to stack, but it's split and I forwent riding to get'er done. Tomorrow hopefully, right now from the wind and cold I'm tired. I was working the level for the splitter and Roland did the heavy work. Thank you Roland! Kids got fresh hay and water when he went home for the splitter, so at least they got their lunch. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

My boy tried so very, very hard for me yesterday. We placed 2nd out of 13, and won a copy of Bill Dorrance's "True Horsemanship Through Feel". Mr. Rodeo Man made a brief appearance when we did the canter obstacle, so just did a one rein stop and finished it at a trot. He did refuse the water obstacle, but tried - it was getting mucky (he had gone through it earlier in the day). Everything else he did nearly perfectly and calmly - there were 20 obstacles, some very technical and scary. Very proud of him, especially since I haven't been able to work with him lately due to being sick.

LEFT A VOTE, THANKS FOR YOURS
We had a great day as HOTD, thanks for all the votes and visits. We are looking forward to another nice fall day today. The leaves are so beautiful, the colors are amazing this year, we are pretty much surrounded by woods so it is very pretty here. Just a quick update on Trev, he has decided that he is ready for work again. He started a new job last week, he likes it. It is an adjustment for sure. The only problem we see is transportation, he is riding his bike (he doesn't drive) in the AM, he starts at 7, it is an hour bike ride, the bus service doesn't go that far that early, however he can bus home at night, the city buses have bike racks. He is hoping to meet someone at work that he can catch a ride with, maybe someone close to his area. We really hope so, this travel arrangement will not work in winter...Have a great day, Love Donna Lee

Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya. I hope mom made time for a ride on you today too! I saw pictures on FB of her with mud dots on her face from riding a bike! Tell her she's a trader! LOL! Now today was the kinda day it could stay like all year round! LOL! 42 when I got up and hit a high of about 66, sunny with little to no wind at all! Just lovely! Got a lot of hay moved from the hay barn to the horse barn today. Making room for a new load or two to come in this week. Ran over to a friends for a fast BBQ, told them, have to take advantage and get home and get my horses out. But on the way home stopped at Tractor Supple and got 50 bricks of Eco Wood for the wood burner. Unloaded that into my garage, ribs are feeling good, each unit weights about 21 pounds. So that was a nice 1000 lbs of lifting and carrying in! Horses were very happy to finally be out in their pastures for a few hours too! I think I might just see if I can lift my saddle tomorrow and take a little spin on Paige. But that work saddle is about 38 pounds. We'll see. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.
