Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya. Do you have a hay bag in the trailer for Lilly when she's in there? It'll help calm her down if she thinks she can eat and relax. I always have hay for mine when traveling. I bet that poor little Jack feels like a pin cushion after all the shots he's been getting. Glad that they make a paste for him. Well had to run up to Dr. Larry's and pick-up my Coggins papers. They just came in on Sat and if they mailed them today, I wouldn't have them by Wed 9 am. So I took a short ride and got them. Then got home and packed some more of the LQ trailer stuff. Got their hay and feed all done and in there. Put in more of my stuff. Just have drinks and food to go in tomorrow and then load the truck with my bags of shavings and muck bucket and wheel barrel and I should be good to go at 9 AM Wed. morn. Lunged Indy and Paige and then did some more showmanship work with Paige. Will ride tomorrow and then pack up my work saddle, pad and bridle. Have to put clean blankets in trailer too, now that I think of that. Can't wait to get there. Almost a 4 hour drive. But with the new truck I'll feel more comfortable hauling. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Glad Lilly is doing so well with the trailer.
AND that Jack is doing so much better. Bad storm last night, but we're all OK. Just lots of mud (had just under 4" of rain) and some branches down. Creek flooded, first time in years, but not currently over the road. Picked up a load of feed this AM, had to take an alternate route to get home, the way I usually go had water just starting to run over the bridge and the ditches were full and running into it, was afraid it would be under water by the time I got back.

its sooooo good to hear that Jack is getting stronger and actually able to run from you, even if that is a pain. I don't guess that paste is something he would voluntarily eat if mixed in his food? sounds like Lilly is gradually getting used to the trailer. good work.
I first started trimming my horses because we were in tough financial times and I had to learn. however, I found that I really enjoy doing it now. read a lot and watched a lot of videos, and still do when I can find something new. I learned tons from Pete Ramey's book "Making Natural Hoof Care Work for You". if you order it, he's amended a few things (you can find them in articles on his website). in a nutshell, I rarely touch the sole or frog except to clean and scrape out what will flake out with only a hoof pick or dull hoof knife, and then, following the natural shape of the sole, keep the walls trimmed short and put a mustang roll on the walls so they don't chip and split easily. and I do this often, before the hoof looks like it needs a trim because by then, there could be flare or cracks developing. I found that I really enjoy trimming their feet- it's part science and part art. I take notes on how they look and move, and make small adjustments as I go. sounds like Lilly is on really great soil that will make it easier to maintain her feet. didn't mean to make a sales pitch, it's just you might enjoy doing it more than you think, once you get started.

Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya buddy. Well I'm about ready to pass out! Worked myself to the bone today. Moved the rig over and did just a little packing. Then lunged Indy. Lunged and rode Paige, nice workout. The finally at 3 pm ate lunch. Then went and mowed the lawn and back by the manure pile. Spent some time over by the new neighbors, they took down all the birch trees between our property lines. Looks so much cleaner now and I don't have to worry about another one falling on my trailer like 2 years ago! Well time for some Aleve and sleep! LOL! In that order too! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya! Well this was the coldest one yet! A mere 27 degrees this morning! However it do make it to 58 this afternoon with blue skies and sun! But a cool breeze too. Got the Beast hooked up to the LQ Trailer and will position it tomorrow to start loading up. Lunged Indy and Paige and then did showmanship with Paige. This afternoon they all got pasture time outside on grass. Happy Horses! And yes one happy donkey too! Pastures were a little soft and they all left devits running and playing for about 30 seconds, then it was serious grass time! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya honey. What a day, cold again, only 34 when we got up. High winds and cold. But I did get to Lunge Indy and then ride Paige in the indoor. Doors banging and clanging. An excavator working 100 feet away and dumping things into a dump truck. We worked on our Horsemanship Patterns for our show next weekend. Hopefully our temps are going to start to improve again and go back to real spring time weather. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

A quick hello and to say things are happening around here-some good, some not so much. Horses are healthy and being stubborn! Bought a new trailer because Bub had that accident in the 3 horse slant and refusing it because he remembers but is also unsure of the straight load I bought. Dad in and out of hospital and being needy!Etc, etc, etc! Not gonna bore ya with details. I am having female problems though-am going to the dr next tuesday. Business venture is slowly coming along. Mrs. Prego (daughter) doing good! Baby shower May 2nd. I miss being on here but so darn busy! GRRR!! I hope everyone is doing good and wish everyone well. Thanks for not "kicking me to the curb" and forgetting me. Everyday I'd love to get on here. I haven't even had time to ride yet this year!! Hope to be on a regular basis soon. Take care and love to all!! Cindy, Bub, and Bee

HI Lilly, here's a vote for ya. Well I think I've slept through Spring, Summer and Fall, cause Winter has made it's return! Complete with on three different occasions today, snow squalls! Yes, posted a picture on FB! I was getting Indy ready to take to the indoor to lunge and opened the door and went, OMG it's a white out! We waited it out, only lasted about 20 minutes! Got him done and then took Paige in a lunged her and did showmanship only. The winds were blowing like crazy and I didn't want her getting spooked by the doors blowing around, although she never cared. Just so close to next weeks show, I didn't want to ask for trouble. Then we got another snow squall as I was driving the tractor to the indoor to drag it later on! Tonight we have a frost warning of high 20's! Like if anyone finds Spring, please sent it this way. Also Indy and I would like to thank you all for voting for him for his run for HOTM! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya. Well it was run down town and get Indy and Bullseye's grain. Then go and fill up the Beast with diesel so he'll be ready to load up this weekend. I'll use ole Blue if I need to run out. Then home and worked Paige on the showmanship patterns that will be at the show next weekend. They had 2 out of 3 patterns posted all ready. Tomorrow I'll ride the horsemanship patterns and put them together. Only one pattern out for Ranch Horse and it's an easier one for us! Thank goodness! Will put bits and pieces of that together too. If I do the entire pattern as written, somebody becomes a smarty pants and tries to do it for me! LOL! What a thunder storm came thru just as I was walking out of the barn this afternoon! OMG! I Always tie my horses in the trailer. Granted we use a stock trailer and are hauling about 4 horses at a time. We tie using a safety knot so if anything goes wrong, it's easy to untie. Dash will untie himself, but only when he's bored and not while were trailering.

so happy Jack is on his feet again-I will continue to send prayers. Yes I tie in the trailer, it is a quick release type that way they can't turn their head and get stuck. I have a staight load small trailer. We went to Tractor Supply & grocery shopping yesterday morning. I mowed most the afternoon, and short ride around the property on Deacon! Whinny’s, hugs and a vote ☆

Marion brought up a good point. if you tie,use a pretty short tie in a trailer so a horse cant turn her head and get stuck or get a leg over the rope. Like Cheryl,I too love the Blocker ties, but some ponies (not mentioning names, Cinni and Allie) have learned to pull the slack out of it and then it's like not tying at all unless you take the extra wraps to make it firmer.
what a relief to hear Jack is up on his feet again, even if wobbly. so you'll continue with the extra vitamin B shots? bet he loves that. but so glad it's helping.

Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya. Yes, God is good, no make that great! All the Prayers are helping and continued Prayers for more balance! As for the chiropractor, only two kinds of chiro's are legal to use! A vet that is licensed or a human chiro that has done the equine school. Ask what chiro school she is a graduate of! There are people out there that are self taught and I know of one who has a suit against him for breaking a horses neck!!! As for the trailer, tie on about 20 inch lead from the tie hook. I've seen people pull in show grounds with a cast horse upside down cause he tried to turn around in the narrow stall! Another case for major problems! Well the rains stopped, but not after a really bad thunder, lightning, high winds and heavy down poor around mid-might! Sun came out around 10 am and it was nice all day, a little windy, but that helped dry it up a little. Ran down town and did some errands. Got home and lunged Indy, he's still in shock that he's being worked 5 days a week! LOL! The saddled and lunged Paige, she's still a little stiff necked, but she's had 5 days and it's back to work! Suck it up Buttercup I told her. She was good under saddle, didn't want to lope off when asked, found out that yes you will, vacation is over. Then all went well. Did some horsemanship patters with her. Good day. Then went for a mile walk to burn a few more calories off. Gotta drop 6 more pounds by next Wed! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

So happy that you didn't have the make the BIG decision about Jack. That is such a hard thing to have to do. My trailer is a 2 horse slant (can't figure out how to get 2 horses in it, only haul one at a time). I don't tie hard, but use a Blocker (attached to a nylon dog collar). Cisco prefers to ride backwards, Meg and Nugget face forwards. There is just enough room in trailer for him to turn around. The Blocker allows the horse the freedom to pull free if they need to (and they can be instantly released if needed). If using a straight load, would tie, but HATE the panic snap ties, have had wrecks with those.

I tie my horses when hauling for two reasons: if they have too much space they can move too much and rock the trailer off balance plus step on themselves (they can also do that if too confined) and second reason, they can turn their head and get it stuck in the small space, like a side by side bumper pull. had to take the partition out when smooch got his head turned sideways and stuck like that. it's a choice you'll have to make and live with. they can get hurt no matter WHAT you do! kinda like the question I go through in hurricane weather. if they are turned out they can run from falling debris but get wet. if they're inside they can have something fall and collapse the roof on them as they stand there. never a good option when disaster strikes, in my opinion.

So glad Jack is doing better. I've been worried about you and him today. So good to hear that he's up on his feet! Yay
Personally, it depends (on tying in a trailer). If my horse is alone in a big trailer with no partitions, I often leave him loose. If hauling with another horse or if in a small area where the horse could get stuck or hurt turning around, I'll tie.

Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya. Monday off for me, and Indy, but Paige got to work on the lunge line to keep her moving and try and loosen up that neck of hers. Rain, rain and more of it. Just about an inch as of noontime today. I'm hoping that since tomorrow is day five, she'll be better. Last year it took five days for her and the three for Indy. She's just so sensitive to the shots. In the fall, she only gets the Rhino/Flu and that takes her three days to get over. So like Larry says, if we space them out, she'll be sore 3 days at least after each dose. So 5 days and be done with it. She lunges very willingly and does her showmanship work, she just can't do lateral and down motion of the head. But she's loving the extra hugs and kisses and treats! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Praying for Jack. Know tomorrow is the cut off day, but seems like he's doing so much better. Thankfully, we're drying out a bit and tomorrow is supposed to be nice. Thankful since the farrier is coming out in the morning. Will try and get them cleaned up a bit, then do groundwork and get fly stuff applied. Clinic this weekend is up in the air, 40% chance of rain starting Weds thru Sunday. Optimistic, filled the hay bags just in case. Also signed up with US Rider - older I get, the more nervous I get about hauling. Their Motor Plan pretty much covers everything - and response time is 30-40 minutes.

Hi Lilly, here's a vote for ya. Well another really sunny day! Only the temps this time only got to about 67, but it was still T-shirt weather for me. Kevin came over and we lifted the lawn tractor up with the bucket of the big tractor and he was able to change the mowing blades and scrap the underside of the deck. All ready to rock now! Then I lunged Indy and Paige today. Turned them out in their pastures, grass is low, but green. Indy struggled but got his head down to eat it. Paige just stood there looking pathetic the entire time. Bullseye of course went to town running and eating. The after that, I gave Beast a coat of the spray on liquid wax shine. Now it's really looking great. Only rain almost all this week. I have chiropractor tomorrow, thinking I'll take the old Blue out and use up some of my diesel fuel in it. LOL, don't want to sell it with a full tank, 38 gallons at $3 a pop! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.
