We received 1 ¾” of rain last night-the wind was unbelievable!!! I had to go and get feed and grocery’s yesterday and by the time we were finished it was too hot to ride. I did get fly stuff on the boys and checked the fly mask and then just watched them graze for the evening! Working the weekend but will try to do something with them after work but it will be to muddy to ride. Here is our finial tidbit on the Fabulous Rocky Mountain Horse Breed!
*TOBE was used for breeding until July of his thirty-fourth year, and he passed on his gait, disposition, and other great qualities to his offspring. It has been said that TOBE's progeny followed in his "perfectly-timed" footsteps. TOBE sired many fine horses before his death at the ripe old age of thirty-seven. One outstanding trait passed on was longevity, as many of his offspring were still breeding into their late twenties and early thirties.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

TGIF ♡ I am off work the weekend, then I have management training classes on mon, tues, & weds so it will be Thursday before I am around a computer again. Guess you know what that means~phone votes! Please continue to vote for Whiskey, he l♥ve’s you all!
* Even through the hard times of the Depression and World War II years, Sam Tuttle kept a sizable herd of thirty to forty horses on his farm. Sam is considered as the man most responsible for the survival of the Rocky Mountain Horse. TOBE was the primary Rocky Mountain stallion used in Sam's breeding program. In the 1950s, many people were selling their stallions, and the horse population in general was rapidly declining due to tractors and farm machinery available. Even so, breeders remembered TOBE, and he was always in demand for stud service. People brought their mares to TOBE from several different states, and he was as famous in Estill County as MAN O' WAR was in Lexington, Kentucky. Everyone who rode TOBE fell in love with him. TOBE's offspring were always in demand, and Sam never had any trouble selling all the Rocky Mountain Horses he could produce.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

✞ Whiskey has a fast walk that is like the true gait of a Rocky Mountain but it isn’t as pronounced like the other RM horses I see, it’s a little different. He has the smoothest gallop and run. He has the energy to go go go. He will go no matter how long you want to ride-his battery never seems to run out but that is the breed, again they started out as a utility horse!! Whiskey stays to himself; he doesn’t really hang with the other 2, only once in a while. Deacon picks him as a favorite for a day or 2 then they separate and Rocket is Deacons main herd mate. * During the late 1800s and early 1900s, the rural inhabitants of eastern Kentucky considered these saddle horses to be horses for all seasons. They were sure-footed, easy-gaited, and the mount of choice for postmen, doctors, and traveling preachers. People used them for plowing small fields, herding cattle, traveling through the steep and rugged trails, and driving the buggy to church on Sunday. Horses were not a luxury, but a necessity. Every horse had to earn its keep and be extremely versatile. It was not a matter of having horses around to use every once in a while; these horses were worked hard, every day. At the end of the day they were exhausted, but possessed enough stamina to continue on, day after day.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

vote Whiskey 237221 July HOTM!!!
thank you for stopping by, Deacon did win December 2014 HOTM but my Whiskey boy is running for July HOTM now, we would love your support threw the end of June ")

Whiskey’s mane & tail change colors several times in the year by going lighter then darker. His body color changes as well. He truly loves his bath time and grooming, he trailers well in any type I load him in, and will load without heisting at all. He is also my bareback horse. Perfect back for it so if I don’t feel like putting the saddle on I can always just get myself up on him and go at any time. He is the type that will come to you every time from the field or anywhere. I guess that’s the treat hound in him lol.
* The Rocky Mountain Horse breed originated in the United States in the late 1800s, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky. At the time of its beginnings, there was no understanding of the need to document anything about these horses. The people living in this region were quite unaware that one day their utility horses would become the foundation of a special breed of horse. The existence of these horses was practically a secret for many years to all but the inhabitants of this region.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

Deacon would love your support for HOTM!
(}—{) We ended up getting a light sprinkle Thursday evening. After I went to Tractor Supply & the grocery store Lizzy came over and we had a really nice ride on Rocket and Deacon. Whiskey is at the equine hospital staying a few days. He scratched his eye somehow. I really don’t know how or why he does that so much but the other 2 never do???? Any way Doc says he is doctoring it 2x’s a day with an antibiotic and giving banamine 1 time a day. Cliff may pick him up today or Monday. It is so hard putting meds in their eyes. I can do once its under control. I just can’t stand to touch his eye when it hurts so much. He took him in Thursday Morning so hopefully he can come home today. I miss him and so does Deacon and Rocket. Whinny’s, love, hugs and we left you a vote…..

Whiskey would love your support for his HOTM run
The more we rode the better Whiskey got at reining. The more miles and trails the easier it got on me and him. I discovered Whiskey loves the water. The picture today was taken 8/2012. We can get in a few minutes but I have to move him out or he will try to lie down, but I can take him right back in and then he settles to stand, doesn’t swim yet with me. We are still working toward that. We haven’t camped out in nearly 2 years, and that is when I can try to swim with the horses. It’s too hard to try swimming when I day ride because of the drive home (driving wet is no fun) -ha ha =) Deacon is my true water baby-he will actually swim with me and never try to lie down. I have also found that Whiskey hates for any type bug to fly in his face-so needless to say while we ride in the open if there are grass hoppers or butter flies, regular fly’s he tosses his head slightly. It doesn’t bother me now but it used to. Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

I will explain how I came about choosing my Whiskey and Deacon so it takes us Wwway back~~~~~ lol ~ I got out of the Navy in 1986. I knew I wanted to get a horse at the time and I wanted to try barrel racing. I had a friend in California (last place I was stationed) that was running the circuit barrel racing and a boyfriend riding bulls so I guess that is what made me want to try barrels. I really just wanted a horse to care for and ride because I loved them so much. I moved back to Texas and started my search. I met a lady where I started working that raised quarter horses and she had a beautiful dark bay mare that I started riding, her name was Fanny. She was very gentle and easy to handle. My sister said I could put a fence up on her property and use their garage to convert into a stall and storage area. So I went to work with a few friends and converted this place and added one stall and a tack area. It took a few months to get everything ready so the lady let me make payments. Once she was paid off, and the property was ready I brought her home with me. Things just didn’t work out for Fanny & me. I’m sure you all can relate to the fact that some horses and humans are not a match. That is how it was with her, just didn’t feel right. The hunt was on and a new year began 1987 ~ Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

Today’s affirmation: “When god created the horse, he said to the magnificent creature: I have made thee as no other. All the treasures of the earth lie between thy eyes. Thy shalt carry my friends upon thy back. Thy saddle shall be the seat of prayers to me. And thou shalt fly without wings, and conquer without sword; oh horse.”

Well my choir is officially in Missouri and we are all hunkered down for the night! It took us 17 hours on a bus to get here from central minnesota and im exhausted! Tomorrow we push onto Memphis! I got some pretty amazing news from my mom, the horse we made an offer on passes her prepurchahse exam and as of tomorrow she is mine!!!!! She will be staying at the trainers for a while (Until I get back from this choir trip) but we are thinking we can go pick her up next weekend!!!!!!! I'm so excited to start working with my new team mate, I know she is going to teach me so much. And now Lucy will a quarter horse buddy!!!! The only other horses out there are arabs and Friesians (nothing against either breed they are both amazing but when my QH starts holding her tail and neck like an arab.... )

I love paso finos!!!! Well i love having a missouri fox trotter! There canter is more of a side to side motion than an up and down.... Kind of like swiveling your hips on a yoga ball. The hardest issue I had with roxy was that i would ask for a pace and sometimes she would trot and sometimes she would pace, with a lot of time and practice we worked it out and now i can specifically cue for either! From what I have learned from roxy and other MFTs is that they will try there heart out for you but they can also be stubborn, great patience teachers!!!! So exciting to think about getting another horse! :))
