How We Met

On the Fourth of July, my grandpa called and told me he had a surprise, and to come down to his house. When we got there he took me to the barn, and there, beside Cocoa, was a little sorrel colt! I quietly stuck my hand through the panel and Lightning licked my hand. Right then a bolt of lightning lit up the sky. "Lightning" I said, the little colt perked up his ears and nickered. His name was Lightning from then on! :) I trained him with the help of my dad..

Q: What is the best type of story to tell a runaway horse?
A: A tale of WHOA!

Hello there! Here is your Fancy vote.

The very first time I took Fancy to the vet we discussed her breeding. Her mommy is a registered TWH and her daddy is a registered Standardbred. At that time, the vet determined her to be and listed Fancy as a Spotted Saddle Horse.
We got Fancy and Trigger's Coggins back this week. I noticed this coggins and all of Fancy's previous coggins list her as a Spotted Saddle Horse.
I always called Fancy a TWH because her mommy is TWH. This caused some confusion at the Fair show when Fancy won 1st place in a color class as a TWH. I am going to list her as a Spotted Saddle Horse from now on. I corrected the breed selection on Fancy's HorseChannel page to Spotted Saddle Horse. I found out I can register Fancy and where to register her at. I am not planning to register her because we only participate in activities for fun.

I want to take Fatima to the vet. We have to work on the issue of her trailer loading before I can make that appointment. My son will work on trailer loading when he visits one weekend. I could only get her front feet in before I was fatigued. Wish I was young all over again. LOL. It takes time. We will get her loading, I just can't do it alone.

Hope things are calming down with good weather and you are having a pleasant spring enjoying your lovely equine pal.
Love Fancy and herd ♥

☆ extremely windy yesterday-WOW…so, I haltered the boys & fly sprayed, cleaned hoofs and checked them out good. Turned Deacon & Rocket out and Whiskey stayed in the home paddock area where the round bale and barn is. It is like a dry lot, no grass growing and what grass is there are dried up! Cliff is adding 8’ to the barn toward the west so I helped him with that. It will increase the shade in our barn for the horses & create better coverage in the winter. Got to love a man that will continue to help me with the horse projects!!! Whinnies, love & hugs

Come visit me, ♥ Deacon ♥.

Yesterday turned out to be a beautiful day and I did get to ride Sierra! I thought she did really well for the first ride. She did get "stuck" a couple times where she wanted to back up and not go forward but she eventually cooperated. I videoed it and will have it up on HC soon. I'm planning to ride her again today!

In the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries vast herds of wild horses roamed the western deserts and plains. Although the wild horses of America were not of the unrestrainable character as the truly wild horses of Europe and Asia, they ranged freely in great numbers and could be claimed by anyone willing to attempt their capture. These horses, known as mustangs and broomtails, had their foundation in Spanish Barb stock. They were descendants of the domestic horses imported from Spain and the islands off the Florida coast that had been driven off or stolen by the Indians.

Today mustangs are known as small horses, standing less than fourteen hands and weighing from seven hundred to nine hundred pounds. This was not always so. Many western writers of the nineteenth century left records that the average mustangs of that century and earlier were horses of greater height with a good, hardy build. The best specimens were refined, handsome horses. Their colors ran largely to bay, black, brown, and chestnut, with some grays, whites, and Paints scattered among them. Judging from the fairly large number of Paint Horses in the herds of the early twentieth century, the paint coloring must have reproduced steadily and consistently over the years. Centuries of survival in a harsh existence on semibarren ranges after the advancing ranchers and settlers drove them off the best ranges, as well as generations of inbreeding, resulted in deterioration of the mustangs. The same decline would have occurred in any other kinds of horses under the same circumstances. But helped by a combination of speed, self-reliance and defensive perception, they continued to survive and multiply. Later, however, mustangs were crossed with every type of horse and lost their identity.

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS: This is one really incredible 6 year old. Happy Birthday Fancy, I love you ♥

Here is a vote in honor of my sugar pea, Fancy, Dancy Pants!

I have been with Fancy 90% of this day. I am sooo tired. I fed Fancy's herd at 7am. Fancy and Trigger had bathes about 10am, then they grazed in the back yard. Fancy and Trigger had a vet visit at 1pm. After school we just hung out in the yard. While Fatima had her shower Fancy stood at the gate and waited. I put Fatima up and got Fancy back out. We enjoyed such a peaceful day, I did not want to leave her. But I am very tired now. Bedtime is calling my name. LOL.
Have a blessed night.
Love Fancy and Frances

Hooves crossed for Whiskey to be ~ May HOTM ♡
<)___~ Whiskey will return to the Doc on May 20th for his next set of x-ray’s. I feel he will be just fine, last dose of bute yesterday and I think in 2 days will tell a lot of how he is but I can’t know for sure until the next visit. I want to thank you all for all the amazing support throughout the month of April. I hope you enjoyed his story and I surely hope I can tell you many more story’s in the future of he & I riding together…God bless you all…..I honestly did not realize how difficult and demanding running for HOTM could be until now! Not having a computer at home really made this challenging for me, so again I cannot say thanks enough, sending love to you & your herds!!!!!!!
Here is our finial tidbit on the Fabulous Rocky Mountain Horse Breed! In the early 1960s, Sam Tuttle managed the trail riding concession at the Natural Bridge State Park in Powell County, Kentucky. He had as many as fifty horses there, including TOBE. This stallion was often seen tied to the hitching post alongside all the mares. He became quite well known in the ten or so years he was ridden there. Besides breeding, TOBE was used as a trail horse. He carried Sam, and sometimes the trail guides who worked for Sam, with sure-footed ease over mountainous terrain for many years. Although Sam would allow other people to ride TOBE occasionally, it was always a ride closely supervised. He loved to show off his beloved stallion, but also kept a close eye on him. Everyone who rode TOBE enjoyed his gentle temperament and comfortable gait. It amazed people to think the well-mannered horse they were riding was indeed a breeding stallion.
TOBE was used for breeding until July of his thirty-fourth year, and he passed on his gait, disposition, and other great qualities to his offspring. It has been said that TOBE's progeny followed in his "perfectly-timed" footsteps. TOBE sired many fine horses before his death at the ripe old age of thirty-seven. One outstanding trait passed on was longevity, as many of his offspring were still breeding into their late twenties and early thirties.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it! Hoping to see him as the top horse tomorrow!!!!!
