Here it is nearly noon, and I have just started sending out votes. Started at 6 this morning, but been busy, my grandson, Dominic, stayed over night, so we have been busy doing projects, working on the trailer lights, because the breaks lights were not working....blinkers OK, just brakes. Watered all the baby tress about 20 of them, which Dominic and I have planted the last few yrs, watered them with manure water. I have a 55 gallon barrel half full of manure, and put it under the roof to catch water then water the trees with it.

I have not done much riding these last few days, mostly because now Willow is out in the big field, her and Whisper get along fine, but I don't really bring them in, until late like it is dark already. Mistit is out with them, I did keep her in the other pen, and also staked her out, but right now, I have been letting the baby chicks run outside, under the lean to part of the shed, and that is where Mistit would go for shade, and with the door shut, she would have to stand out in the sun. Little chicks are learning how to free forage outside for bugs, and then to come in for water or feed, plus where the come "home to roost". Now, I have heard that saying before. Off in a bit to take Mikey in for labs this morning. Beautiful morning, foggy out, and temps are in the 50's, but will get up to the 70. Right now we have no outdoor temps on our thermometer so guessing on that.

Good Morning!! Sold 25, (really 27) baby chicks and 6 keets, (baby guinea hens) yesterday. So have enough money now to buy feed, and some small square bales of hay. I leave the computer on, and as I come and go in and out the house, stop and leave a vote here and there. Been very busy, with gardening, making a bigger pen for the keets, and helping Mike check the hay field fencing, then keep a eye on the steers, and horses and ponies as the find a big 10 acre field to really open up and run. My brother invited us over for a cook out last night, because my brother is home from Alaska with his family. It's been raining and very muddy again, like the kind of mud that likes to "suck your boots off".

I had a good ride on Allie yesterday morning. We did a good bit of loping and she even let me turn her a tiny bit without too much fuss at a lope. Would love to build on that, but have to work today. Oh well, that's life.
Hope you have a great hump-day.

Have to rush again this morning. Someone coming around 11 to buy some chicks and a few keets. Hope its enough to buy feed next week. Temps were in the 40's yesterday and very breezey, but good weather for fixing fence. Mike did most of it, while I make another pen for guineas keets...time to move them out of big rabbit cage. Willow finally got to go in with whisper, as ponies and all went into the hay field, now they have 10 acres to run and run they did, of course Willow limped most of the time after, but so good to hear the "thunder of hooves" even if they were little beats.

Hi Kristy, here's a vote for ya. Well the rain yesterday was 1.5 inches, but the ground was dry this morning, it really needed it again! Spent the late morning and half the early afternoon, cleaning out the trailer! Since the weather was delightful, 73 degrees with a breeze! And best was no bugs or humidity! Sinks scrubbed, toilet scrubbed, throw rugs out and vacuumed, floor washed, laundry done, all the horses stuff but away, and the feed, hay stall swept out! Now I just have to Pledge the wood cabinets and scrub the refridge, but I still have drinks in there for when I'm working on it. Horses were out for like 2 hours, they loved it, no bugs and just peaceful! Tomorrow it's a trip to Tractor Supply for Paige's food and pelleted bedding while the 10% coupon is still good. Then home and start to work with Paige again. Knee brace is back on, hopefully it'll support it enough I can get back to riding. Marion and the blondes.

Sure was wrong about yesterdays temp, it was hot or maybe just because I was trying to get things done outside. Today it is raining, and should rain on and off all weekend. Maybe...that's a hint of maybe, I will get some house cleaning done. Dishes count for cleaning....maybe I will just leave the cobwebs up until Halloween...if stores can be putting out Christmas decoration early, I will just have to start early for Halloween. Actually, started a few fall projects already. Where the turtle pond was, I am filling that deep hole with veggie scraps and lawn grass that I missed when feeding the grass clippings to the pigs, chicks, and baby guineas....they think its candy, or act like it, when I sprinkle it on the floors. I have saved totes of very dry grass clipping for the winter to line the floors of chicken pens and nest. But I want to plant tulips and fall bulbs in the hole, then put a more flowers over the top....but I can not spell the flower./// I can see what I want in my head....hee, hee.

I am trying to figure out a way to make stalls in the back of the shed. Can not be permanent, because never know what else has to be back there. We have a large wire cage, 12x14 x 6 ft high, for guinea, or now little chicks. Have large rabbit cages about 4ft off the ground, but still enough room for 2 12 x 12 pens made from gates or panels, but they are 5 ft high or better, and I have to crawl up over them or unhinged them. I keep think of making them smaller with a wooden gate on hinges. Ponies do not have to be in all day in the winter, but its nice to have a place to bring them in and brush or (treat them if needed.)
Finished cutting all the burdock or cock-burs down yesterday, have two large piles to burn after they are dryer. I know of a few here and there yet to bring over to these piles, but the area they were in, is a spot my son, puts all his scrap metal before he turns it in. Prices are very low right now, and its 60 miles just to turn it in, so he has to wait until it goes back up. Stay cool, our temps are just prefect this morning 59, and should not go up too much today.

The next couple of days the high for this area of Wisconsin will be in the 60's, not sure what the low will be, but you can tell fall will be coming soon. Hopefully, all the baby chicks will be putting on some fat soon.
Dominic my grandson is here again. If he did not have sports at school, I am sure he would live here. Been working on some craft type things, mainly a wooden board, which he stained, and then drew some drew deer heads he wanted to paint on, but I helped him transfer his ideas on to thin wood, and I cut them out on the skill band saw. I am glad he did not make it into a "30 point buck", like the song they play in deer hunting season. Plan on cleaning out the rabbit cages and chop down more burrdock, my two piles are really big, and my hands are just as sore. Never seem to remember to wear gloves.

Awe Monday, not sure what to do first. Chores are done, need to move the white guineas into the other pen, (getting ready for winter, UGH!!) but they need time to adjust to a different pen and house. After both little dogs went home, I need to wash all their blankets and pads, so they are ready when those little guys return. My cats miss them already. Tomatoes are finally getting ripe, and more cockburrs need chopping down....some of them I feel like hollowing "TIMBER" when they fall. Finish moving the turtle pen into the barn for the baby keets too. Mike has taken Mikey to another dr appointment for his toe, the big sores are infected, even if the drs at Ladysmith say it looks good, I say it needs a "real" doctor to look at it, because it is infected. That's why no one likes going the the Ladysmith Hospital, when a sore has pus, smells, and red....that is what is called infection and needs to be treated.....a patient should not have to beg to get some sort of antibiotics for it.

I had a long talk with Mistit while I brushed her, she just kept nodding her head agreeing with me, about it time to have that baby.....its been a long summer, on baby watch.
Sunday vote from Whisper, Willow and the little herd for you. NIce out today....so far...getting some jobs done outside, that usually is too hot out in the morning to do. Trying to move the turtle cage out to the shed for the little keets, because they are out growing their rabbit cage. The turtle cage is about 5 feet high, 4 ft wide and 10-12 ft long, and no bottom, so they can learn to scratch in the dirt. Because its made from chicken wire, I can put long sticks in for roosts, also put branches, and plants so that they learn to hide in the grasses. I feed them clover and grasses now, but cut it up with the scissors. They are too small to be out with the little chicks, yet. The keets have one fault, they hide their little heads into a hole....like between the hay bales, when being picked on, thinking they can not be seen, but they do not know how to move backwards, only forwards, so they get deep between the bales and die. They are a very smart bird...except for that one stupid fault. So I keep them safe until they are older. Most are spoken for except for the ones I will keep...some different colors than what I have now

Long day yesterday, got home at 9, still light enough to do chores, and put the steer back in. Fun to see the grandkids Camille and Rich and their dog Lucy, who sang, (howled) happy birthday song. Rain here at our house most of the day. Now, everything is wet outside, and sticky inside from humidity. One day away, and I am sure the weeds, and squash took over more of the garden. With all the rain, everything is really growing tall.

Hi Kristy, here's a vote for ya. Well when you walk outside and your glasses fog up, you know you're in trouble! Think I'm gonna have to wear my contacts for the next few days! At 6:15 it was 74 already, with 88% humidity! In 45 minutes doing barn chores, my cloths and I were drenched! I'm really not liking this. And now till Sunday 9 pm we are in an extreme heat warning, of indexes over 105 degrees! Tons of humidity! we are so not used to this! I had to go over to the Fair Show, it was 96 degrees there with an index of 104 and those darn Hunter Jumpers were out there jumping courses of 4 foot and better! Like really, you don't respect your horse! Mine in the barn with 8 fans going were standing still and sweating! On another note, Kudos to the Olympic rider that pulled her horse up after starting her dressage test. He had been bitten by a poisonous bug last week and was very sick. He came out of it, and 4 vets gave him the go ahead to compete. But he didn't feel right to his owner/rider and she stopped him, saluted and excused herself from the competition! Her statement was, that her partner of 19 years meant more to her than a medal! Gotta love that woman! Marion and the blondes.

Put up 8 more round bales for winter....just like canning veggies, so that make 25 in total. Thats about what we use each winter, our feeders are always full. We put a few out near the edge of the woods, right down by the pine trees, for the deer to munch on. Usually 2 a year, depending how many deer we see out in the fields. New seeding hay is good for them, and God gives us a good crop, so we share.
Baby pigs are getting more independent, and now sleeping under the topper and I feed them outside the pen. Love those chubby little butt cheeks.
Mistit has been being stand-offish the last few days. Hopefully, she has her baby soon. Just likes those tummy rubs to much. I keep telling her to hurry it up.

Good Sunday Morning vote.
Willow seems to enjoy being here. Gets along of attention, everyday, I put her halter on, give her a treat, ride her a bit in the pen. She was a kids horses I am sure, likes to walk 10 ft, when I tell her to, then stop, wait until I tell her again, another 10 ft, stop wait. I can just see a kid riding her and continuously let her stop and eat. She is also hard to get her to come to me, when she see I have a halter. But does not run, just stays out of my reach. It is hard to work with her with all the little ponies right there, looking for their treat too. Or nibbling on my boots, to see if that is where I put their treat. There is no hiding them, because they smell so good....Apple and Peppermint. My pockets smell like them, even if I do not have any with me.

Going to storm today, Mike is taking Mikey to his dr. appointment, and will stop and get me "another" bag of chick starter. Probably, would not need it, but when I sell keets or chicks, I send some feed with them. Sometimes, a 3 pound coffee can full, and with the month old chicks eating like they were starving, 50 pounds goes very fast.
Humidity is so high that the floors, (wood) are wet. Everything is sticky, including my keyboard. Baby sitting 2 little yappers, (dogs) for the past week, Barky is the worst, because he likes to live up to his name. Chance is a Yorkie and wants out and two seconds later wants in....runs back and forth between the front and back door barking. I go to let him in and he is already running to the other door. Stay cool!!

I wrote before, about my flower beds, and will let everyone know, the only way to grow nice flowers, is to "beg, borrow, or steal" the seeds/bulbs. (But I only steal from Mother Nature). Always, said if I am going to steal, it better have 4 legs and a mane and tail, and be worth "hanging" for....and I have come very close to be hung. hee, hee...;)
Let month old chicks out of their pen in the shed this morning, had to plug up every hole under the overhead door, so they could not get outside. Only, because there are 42 of them, and they are so hard to count to bring back in at night. Right now, let them learn to come into the pen where I left there their food and water. Next to deal with the baby keets. Sold some, already, but have some to give to 4-H ers, and saving a few for myself....not sure why I do have enough. Sometimes, I just do not learn from my own mistakes.

Hi Kristy, here's a vote for ya. Well it's a fight to get Indy to drink and eat! His temp stayed at 100.8 all day, Larry was happy about that. He did eat grass for about an hour, hopefully he got some moisture from that. I just gave him 5 60cc syringes of water in his mouth and he sucked it down. Only one manura all day, but he hasn't eaten much. And he is passing gas, cause everytime I go to take his temp, out comes a fluff of air or two or three! LOL! Paige is kinda taking a back seat right now, as I'm really staying with Indy and doing all I can for him. Please send lot's of Prayers his way! He's the love of my life! Marion and the blondes.

My flower gardens, at least most of them bloom year after yr, I add plants here or there but then the chicks think I am making them new ground to scratch in, I like bulbs that just stay in the ground. Have a few bulb type plants that need to be taken inside, so those are planted in big tubs and moved where there is a empty spot or filling in is needed.
I have baby or young trees growing all over, but try to plant them in spots that will provide shade until they are about 3-4 feet tall, and also in the fall the dead leaves or stems provide cover from the snow and cold, like Mother Nature does in the woods.
Its good that you can ride nearly daily. Willow has been running alot more, maybe feeling better, well then she limps. Its the 2 naughty boys and Paisley that want to race with her, that gets things started.
I cleaned up my incubator fast yesterday morning, collected all the dark guinea hen eggs, about 6 dozen. Cleaned them up the best I could, hens bury them in the dirt to keep them cool, but usually they just up and leave if not ready to set. Delivery the eggs and incubator to some 4-H kids so they could "try" to raise some guineas of their own and sell the extras at the next swap or keep until spring to sell. I have 10 more of mine being sold today. Will keep some to replace a few colors I do not have, and save some for a guy I know who does not have any, even if all the eggs I gave him were good, at lockdown, something happened in the last few days. He felt so bad about it.

My son's leg "finally" stopped leaking. They never took him off his warfin, so when he went in for his labs last Tuesday, the results should read 2 or 3, 7 means he is bleeding inside, well, his was "10". As soon as he stop taking the bloodthinner for 2 days his bleeding stopped and started healing up. I should have gave him "radiator "stop leak".
Trip to Bloomington, Mn was looooong, coming home took back roads so seen some different country. Got home around 9, still light enough to get chores done.
Took newly hatched keets out on incubator, I opened it slowly, and they started hopping out like "Popcorn", but best hatch ever for guinea hens, out of 40 eggs I have 31 babies....sadly no white ones, but lots of silver or gray ones. Too tired from riding, or as the saying goes...."Too pooped to Pop", to get much more done. I was hoping Mistit would have her foal, while I was not bothering her all day, checking for signs, but she and her fat little tummy were still there.

Willow certainly is a horse of a different color. Bay roan is about right. She does not have much of a mane or tail, typical Appy style. Last night she was limping again, so did not ride. This morning the weather is just about perfect, 49 degree. Yesterday, not too hot, (about 70), so I did alot of barn and chicken coop cleaning. Finish taking the last 2 wheelbarrow loads out, and all the old sand, straw, from where the little chicks were in the pen, hauled it all over to the area, where I have to redo the flower bed. First I had to pull all the weeds out, fed them to pigs, and take out any bulbs, like iris. So had 5 loads in one pile, to smooth out later. Pulled all the poppy plants out since they have all bloomed, and are nearly ready to spill out there seeds....poppy seeds!! But too many in that bed, since I have a way of over planting my flowers. No rhyme or reason, when I plant flowers. My butterfly garden is at least half-way organized with plants, but thats so there is always something blooming. Going to take some of the guineas to a lady so have to go catch the month old ones soon. They can fly a bit, so not so easy as just taking them out of the pen. I moved white guineas hens into a outdoor pen and put all 40 little chicks and the 5 older guineas into their pen inside the barn. They looked so happy running and trying to fly. Gave them pallets to learn how to roost on, and feed pans all over. Tomorrow is the reunion, so have to get ready for that too.

Thank You for all your kind words. Life is always exciting here, because I am always trying to stay 2 steps ahead of My Banker. My grandson loves cats, and so now we are a kitten hunt, he just told me, Grandma, when I get old enough to leave home, I am going to have a dog of my own and as many cats as I can, well, maybe at least 3 or 4, but if I have to can I bring them to you, because your animals are always so happy. Then he said, I am happy when I come here, because you don't care if I talk to the animals, like my parents do. I was smiling ear to ear, and said, he could bring all the animals here that need homes. I sure hope he doesn't bring too many, but they are all welcome.

But I am trying to clean up saddles so I can sell them, with this humidity some of my leather in the tack room is getting mold on it. My grandson is staying for a few days, and I will put his hands to work. Thank You again.

Hi Kristy, here's a vote for ya. Well Farrier got here and their feet look great, all pretty for the horse show! Packing up the rig tomorrow and we're off Thursday by 10 am. Only about an hours drive this time, yay! After how upset Honey was with that storm, I went to the vets and got a tube of Sileo for her. Possible storms all this weekend, and she'll be in the trailer alone for the most part. Of course if it's thundering and lightning the show will be put on hold. So run to the trailer to be with her. Well besides Paige winning money for a new TV, she better really step up to the plate! The generator was on this morning, we had lost power, all of a sudden it's making funny noises! It stops, I got out and do what I usually do and start it up! It goes nuts and blows itself a gasket! Yep oil all over me and the side of the house, it's toast! He'll be here next week and I'll pick out a new one, a tad bigger than 7000K. So looks like about $6K price wise at least. Yay Home Equity line of credit! Just hope we don't lose electric till they get the new one in. Otherwise I'll be running to the firehouse with big jugs for water for the horses, and they won't have fans! I'm not happy! But life goes on! Marion and the blondes.

Mike has an appointment today for his bleeding from surgery. The bottom of the incision, is open about 1/2 an inch. Each time he moves the blood start coming out, like, drip, drip, drip like a leaky faucet. Hope they get it right this time.
He does have a driver, but we are on standby. Hope I can clean up the rest of the indoor pen today, need to move the gates over, to make room for the small squares. Needs time to dry out, calling for rain again this afternoon. These are just small showers, but enough that we do not want to cut the new seeding hay, because it is thick and takes longer to dry. Check out Willows pictures/page. Had a few minutes last night while waiting for my son's call, so I got it done. Now, to work on the Little Herd's page to get all of them together.

When I hear of your weather, I am glad I live in Northern Wisconsin. We get hot, but nothing like you and the others in Texas, and other Southern states have.
Just took keets, (baby guniea hens) out of incubator. I "think" I have about 20, plus 2 more than their little legs were stuck into the plastic mesh at the bottom. stuck and swollen so one we had to cut the plastic to get it out, and I had rubbed baby oil on each trying to slip it out. I hope they make it. They are so hard to count...its like counting ants. Still no baby, and she is big. Have to recount days from when I was first told she was bred, 21 days. I think I did it wrong last time, but she certainly is bred. I still get on Willow each night, for a bit. Ride her out in her pasture with just the lead rope. Stay cool and drink alot....well that did not come out right....drink alot of water.....that sounds better. :)

I guess I will never complain about the cold, when the heat is this bad. 10 o'clock and horses have all ran into the shed. We brought all the round bales in this morning, Mike brought them in, and I just help make sure he is getting them straight. So while he is doing that, I moved most of the baby chicks, now about 3 weeks old into the chicken coop, there is a separate little room in there, for feed, but feed never gets into it, so nice place for chicks. They have out grown their large rabbit cage. At least there is a window to open.
Baby guineas, (keets) are hatching now, I can hear them inside the incubator. Have another batch due next Saturday. Wanted to take them to the next swap on the 30th, but that is our family reunion, (Mike's side) this time near Minneapolis, about 3-4 hours away. Most people are staying over night, but we have no one to check on critters, so we will just go for a bit and come home. Stay cool, sorry I did not read any one's comments to me, so will try to catch up later on any news.

Come visit me, Mistic, Willow, Eclipse Moon Shadow, Paisley & Whisper.
