Thank You for all your kind words. Life is always exciting here, because I am always trying to stay 2 steps ahead of My Banker. My grandson loves cats, and so now we are a kitten hunt, he just told me, Grandma, when I get old enough to leave home, I am going to have a dog of my own and as many cats as I can, well, maybe at least 3 or 4, but if I have to can I bring them to you, because your animals are always so happy. Then he said, I am happy when I come here, because you don't care if I talk to the animals, like my parents do. I was smiling ear to ear, and said, he could bring all the animals here that need homes. I sure hope he doesn't bring too many, but they are all welcome.

Thank You for your vote. Raining right now, so perhaps, I can get some time to put the ponies in one group, instead of 4 pages. But I am trying to clean up saddles so I can sell them, with this humidity some of my leather in the tack room is getting mold on it. My grandson is staying for a few days, and I will put his hands to work. Thank You again.

Hi Kristy, here's a vote for ya. Well Farrier got here and their feet look great, all pretty for the horse show! Packing up the rig tomorrow and we're off Thursday by 10 am. Only about an hours drive this time, yay! After how upset Honey was with that storm, I went to the vets and got a tube of Sileo for her. Possible storms all this weekend, and she'll be in the trailer alone for the most part. Of course if it's thundering and lightning the show will be put on hold. So run to the trailer to be with her. Well besides Paige winning money for a new TV, she better really step up to the plate! The generator was on this morning, we had lost power, all of a sudden it's making funny noises! It stops, I got out and do what I usually do and start it up! It goes nuts and blows itself a gasket! Yep oil all over me and the side of the house, it's toast! He'll be here next week and I'll pick out a new one, a tad bigger than 7000K. So looks like about $6K price wise at least. Yay Home Equity line of credit! Just hope we don't lose electric till they get the new one in. Otherwise I'll be running to the firehouse with big jugs for water for the horses, and they won't have fans! I'm not happy! But life goes on! Marion and the blondes.

Mike has an appointment today for his bleeding from surgery. The bottom of the incision, is open about 1/2 an inch. Each time he moves the blood start coming out, like, drip, drip, drip like a leaky faucet. Hope they get it right this time.
He does have a driver, but we are on standby. Hope I can clean up the rest of the indoor pen today, need to move the gates over, to make room for the small squares. Needs time to dry out, calling for rain again this afternoon. These are just small showers, but enough that we do not want to cut the new seeding hay, because it is thick and takes longer to dry. Check out Willows pictures/page. Had a few minutes last night while waiting for my son's call, so I got it done. Now, to work on the Little Herd's page to get all of them together.

When I hear of your weather, I am glad I live in Northern Wisconsin. We get hot, but nothing like you and the others in Texas, and other Southern states have.
Just took keets, (baby guniea hens) out of incubator. I "think" I have about 20, plus 2 more than their little legs were stuck into the plastic mesh at the bottom. stuck and swollen so one we had to cut the plastic to get it out, and I had rubbed baby oil on each trying to slip it out. I hope they make it. They are so hard to count...its like counting ants. Still no baby, and she is big. Have to recount days from when I was first told she was bred, 21 days. I think I did it wrong last time, but she certainly is bred. I still get on Willow each night, for a bit. Ride her out in her pasture with just the lead rope. Stay cool and drink alot....well that did not come out right....drink alot of water.....that sounds better. :)

I guess I will never complain about the cold, when the heat is this bad. 10 o'clock and horses have all ran into the shed. We brought all the round bales in this morning, Mike brought them in, and I just help make sure he is getting them straight. So while he is doing that, I moved most of the baby chicks, now about 3 weeks old into the chicken coop, there is a separate little room in there, for feed, but feed never gets into it, so nice place for chicks. They have out grown their large rabbit cage. At least there is a window to open.
Baby guineas, (keets) are hatching now, I can hear them inside the incubator. Have another batch due next Saturday. Wanted to take them to the next swap on the 30th, but that is our family reunion, (Mike's side) this time near Minneapolis, about 3-4 hours away. Most people are staying over night, but we have no one to check on critters, so we will just go for a bit and come home. Stay cool, sorry I did not read any one's comments to me, so will try to catch up later on any news.

Hi Kristy, here's a vote for ya. Well it was 93 with a heat index of 98 by 3 pm today. Needless to say not to much got done! I had the hearing doctor this morning, all went great, the fluid in the right ear is gone and my hearing improved by 38 % over the last test 5 weeks ago. So both ears are normal for my age! YAY! Made a couple of stops on the way home and then by noontime it was 88 degrees, but we still had a breeze going on. So I turned the kids out, they lasted about 90 minutes and were by their gates wanting to come in. It was hot and the breeze stopped. In they came and each downed a bucket of water! And went to hanging in front of their fans. Smart horses! Marion and the blondes.

Everyone's prayers must be working, because surgery went well. So I want to Thank Everyone!! My son has spent more time in the hospitals and clinics, than all of us put together. When he had his transplants they told us 2 weeks, 3 at the most, well he was there from Feb. 24th until the end of July, and then out a few days and back in for nearly another 3 mts. He had a infection "someplace", I figured right where his home dialysis tubes when into his stomach, but that is the only place they did not check, since it is suppose to be mainly fatty tissues.

Surgery went good, seen some pictures he sent me, foot and toes looked like a big balloon with digits. He said his hip hurts him very bad. I sure hope the stints work, because other wise he will loose his foot, with his toes always being infected. They did remove one toe, about 5 yrs ago, since it was being forced way out of place. Yrs ago, he was in a 4-wheeler accident, and drs. said his foot was not broke, and I kept telling them something was wrong with it, well, after him walking on it for nearly 2 weeks, yep, it was broke and they had to go in threw the top of his foot, so his whole foot is litterly smashed down with 2 long scars about 6 inch long, I am sure that is why he has issues now.

Going to be a hot, mucky day, but weather man is calling for bad thunderstorms, for our county and north of us. Mike has to take our son Mike, in for surgery this morning, so since it is nearly a 2 hour drive, he left at 5:30 this morning. My son, needs to have a stint put behind his knee, because his toes are turning black (spot) from lack of blood. Being a diabetic all those yrs has destroyed his blood vessels. If you have extra prayers send them his way. He has already lost his other leg up to his knee about 10 yrs ago.

Very humid today, still calling for rain, but high temps too. At least 84 now, but there is a nice breeze too. Had to run to get a part for the tractor, so sort of late for me, about 11 now. We have about 15-16 acres of hay, only cut about half of it down and had a guy round bale it. Going to try out a small sq. baler to put up the hay from new seeding. We did not want to take the chance of getting it down, then get rained on because it is thick. Trouble is no barn the type where you had a hay mount like the old barns. Can store some inside side the shed, but not more than a 150.

Whisper, Willow, and the little herd are sending you a vote. Hay was cut yesterday, all except where we planted new seeding. Because that will take longer to dry, and its calling for rain again. Before, the weather station said rain on Thursday, then changed it Wednesday. So we left that part, going to small bale it, then try to figure out where to store it.

Hi Kristy, here's a vote for ya. Well it was so humid today! It like said it has to make up for yesterday! I did get to ride Paige, after chasing Honey down! Yep, with new collar on! We were walking down to the indoor to do our run and training session. So guess who's in the barn and comes by the door and starts to Meow! Good ole Mo raising heck with me for not filling his food dish! Well Honey heard him and saw him, I said no and hit just the Beep on the collar, she stopped. Mo then said run for the hills and took off, Honey said, chase is on Bro! I had switched to Vibrate and hit it a few times, she was looking to me and just said, it's more fun chasing him and getting that vibration! 300 feet across and at Nick's yard she came when called, either she's listening a little better, or just gave up on Mo! So any how, Paige and I were soaked with sweat after our ride in the indoor, and that was with all the fans on! She got hosed off and I took a shower. Had the chiropractor, and of course the sky was getting darker! Storm moving in, so on went her T-Shirt and she got her Storm Stress drops. 15 minutes after I was on the road, it hit! About 10 good thunders rolled through and heavy rains. She was good when I got home, just panting a little, not much at all. Marion and the blondes.

Smells so good outside, my son is opening up the hay fields, so the neighbor can come and cut this morning. Little later in July than usually, but Mother Nature just could not stop crying and showering us with her tears. Hope, we get enough hay, but I always buy some small squares for the shed, and what happens to have to stay in it.

A vote from Whisper, Willow and the little herd. Cloudy today and is suppose to rain. Can not get 3 nice days in a row to make hay, and since we do not have equipment have to have neighbors help. I finished the garden, at least of pulling 5 gallon buckets of weeds out. I have been eating beets and carrots already, plus things that grow fast like lettuce and radishes. Cucumbers, winter and summer squash, way too many tomatoes, since I had to replant about 16 of them, I now have close to 25 plants, many just come up by themselves, and I move them to a row, or a place where something did not grow. Dill is growing here and there, but I also plant it in flower beds, since butterflies like to lay their eggs on it. Potatoes are now have flowers. Flower beds mostly can take care of themselves, since they are "grow where you fall" type gardens. Lots of them about 17 small ones, and all around the house. I have no color theme, just what the butterflies and birds like. I have one corner of the house, where the water hose comes out, that I need to redo, since I had to dig it up, but this year, I just planted pumpkins there, to keep the weeds down.

Good Morning vote from Whisper, Willow, and the little herd. "Today" I take it all back about Pickles being a "problem child", he was so good, I guess him having to be in the other pen, made him be on his best behavior. So, he got staked outside of the pen, (with Mistit) as a treat. Let me put his halter on and gave him a treat, and he followed me out, without tugging, did a few whoa, and "kissing" to step up. We'll see what the day brings with him.

Hi Kristy, here's a vote for ya. Figured I start now blogging, as the horses have to wait for their grain! Thank you Paige! I thought I was being nice and giving them the day off. Only because of two reasons, one It's my Birthday and I wanted a day to just be me! Second cause the heat and humidity are terrible again. Flies are horrible. But no, at 6:15 pm I hear Paige putting up a fuss! I think maybe my baby twin does are running and playing in the back hayfield and it was making her nuts! So I took her out to the indoor to lunge, she was a nut case just walking out! Lunged her only a few minutes, had a hard time to keep her from bucking and rearing! Don't need her hurting herself again! Then she settled down, but was soak'n'wet! So she's on the wall in front of her fan. No food for an hour after cooling down! So much for my relaxing day! LOL! She's going to work tomorrow no matter what! LOL! Marion and the blondes.

Spent most of yesterday, in between the rain showers on my knees, not praying in church, but weeding the garden. Nearly caught up, still have the one row left between the potatoes and squash, planted another package of beets, because I have been picking nice size beets, and also carrots. The rabbits, Auroa, BB, and guinea pig, Raisin, said they are ready and taste great.Just North of us, road have been washed out, over 0 inches of rain, 3 people died. 30 some people, camping had to be rescued at a camping ground. Seen pictures, and its a messy. North of us is a big tourist area. I wish I had smaller gates to make little stalls, and a better way to clean them out. Right now, I have one big pen inside the shed, and a fenced in area under the lean-to part of the shed. So when I open back big door, it has a long 20 ft board up to keep ponies out of the small sq. bales of hay, and then the 2 side doors, its stays breeze and cooler inside, but also makes a messy with poop and being wet. So, I have been trying to see where I could bring Pickles in or outside the shed, daily to work with him, by himself, without all his little friends being in the way. I hope your weather clears up for you. We, too, have been getting rain, but I know enough not to complain. Nice yesterday, besides the rain, had around 70's.

Things are always busy here, never seem to have enough time, to really finish most jobs. Trying to get weeds pulled from the garden, pulled 5 - 5gal bucket full, like just packed them in, for the pigs and guinea hens that have to stay in, because they do not listen very well....take after me, I guess. They like to go on the road, so I lock the hens in and let the 2 males out, and 1 in. Later, this evening after supper, I let them all out, but then I can be out weeding flower beds and keep a eye on them better. I ride Willow a bit each evening, and try to work with Pickles too. Too many little ones around to get any place with him. I have never seen a horse so afraid of hands, unless I start behind him. If he is tied, he is not bad, but out in the pen, its like always out of reach. He is not aggressive, and I can start at his but and work my way up to his head, or under his chin, as long as the hands are out of site. I wish he could talk to tell me what happened to him. Paisley is nothing like that at all.

I had a good ride on Allie yesterday. Still just walk trot. It took 5 months to soften and relax her at the walk (should've only taken 3-4 weeks tops), I guess it'll take a while to do the same at a trot. Oi. Also got Gracie's feet trimmed. Got BJ'S done yesterday. Their feet are really hard and brittle in this dry and heat.

Little pigs are getting very playful, I like to watch them play while I am trying to get caught up on weeding the garden. I am so surprised how much weeds grew in just a few days. Black sow only has 2, and white sow, 5. Last night Mother Nature put on a fireworks show. Nearly 2 inch of rain.

Then weed whacked and mowed the front pasture. Turned the kids out, but after about 90 minutes they wanted in. Flies were starting to get to them! Mo has been around almost all day! Mares are suppose to come into their cycle every 21 days, so if I took the first date given, June 23, then count another 3 weeks, into July, August to see what dates Mistit "could" have been bred, go back one month, plus 1 day, is around her due date, well, 2 of those months have passed, (May and June) so only have July and Aug left. I got her in Sept.
The little piglet I was trying to bottle feed did not make it. I am sure the mother knew something was wrong with it, that is why she kept trying to bury it. But the other 5 are running around on those tiny high heel shoes of theirs. Their legs are so long compared to their body, and pointy little hooves, so they look like little high heel shoes that women wear.

MaMa pig is fine. She gets up a lot more than what I remember our other sows, (from yrs ago) did, but I really think it was because the heat. The baby pigs are so cute and tiny compared to her, she is a good Mama. I see her push the babies into one spot with her nose, before she lays down. Her 350 pounds would surely, squash them.
I have my camera all ready. to take some first pictures of Mistit's foal. I just hope I figured out all the days right, by counting back 21 days from the first date that I was told she was bred. I still say she like her special treatment. Going to rain today. Yesterday, we moved the fence next to the woods getting ready to cut the hay field. Our son worked up a small deer plot, and we planted that with sugar beets. Moved little chicks out out to the shed into large rabbit cages and kept the baby keets in, well, until they get bigger.

Sometimes, a baby piglet gets stuck into the birth channel, they each have their own little sack, so there not like all together inside. If one get stuck, usually the first one, it takes a long time for MaMa to push it out. This sow had the first two stuck, both stillborn, second one was large and it was about 3-4 hours between the 2 of them.
I have been really watching Mistit, and letting her out staked out. Yesterday, she was laying down at lot, and rolling, but still no baby. Doing the math, from the days she gave me, counting back 21 days, so if she was bred, in August, she will be due, 10-16th of July. Figuring if she came into heat again in July, (this is when she got her stifle joint injury), then a month after that she would have been in heat around the second week of August.

I have such issues with the "pop-ups" and it takes me forever to finish. Late last night the white sow, (pig) decided its time to make a nest. So of course she picks the deepest hole in her pen, not under her lean to, where there is shelter, and clean, started carrying the grass I was picking for her and beet tops to line the nest. I gave her hay so she would stop trying to rip the traps off the lean to. Well, this morning no babies yet, still pushing, first one sometimes is born stillborn, and plugging the way. Mother Pigs are not something like a dog or cat and go sit with them, they will eat there young, if they get mad or bother, specially since we did not raise them. I have been going into the pen and letting them get use to me "bothering" them. Normal, if she does what my pigs we had before, they lay for about 3 days until the baby pigs are strong enough to get out of the way when MaMa lays back down, or she will squash them. But tomorrow is calling for rain, and that hole will fill up with water, so we went out and put in a few more steel pole and built her a tent.

Have a Happy 4th of July!!!
We weren't doing much today, hopefully plan of getting some house cleaning done. But, I am on "guinea watch", (a everyday thing here), to make sure they stay off the road. I am missing 2 guineas in the last 2 weeks, and baby keets, are hard to raise, either indoor or with Mom, so many do not survive, not sure why. I lost 4 in the last few days. Plan on riding Willow a bit more in the pasture latter today, should do it now, but trying to get a few more weeds pulled, clothes washed, and kitchen cleaned up. Last few days, it been run here and run there type of day, so never really finish anything. Hope you get to enjoy the fireworks someplace tonight.

Come visit me, Mistic, Willow, Eclipse Moon Shadow, Paisley & Whisper.

Trying too hard to get too much done, making 2 kinds of cookies, brownies, and apple cake. Some goes to a cookout at my son's house, after visiting with my Mom, like we do every Sunday, but somewhere this morning, I "lost" a pound of butter, for the cookies. Even checked the oven. I must have put it down someplace. Hope it did not get attached to the first votes I sent out this morning. :)

Have to go to our little town 4th of July celebration in a bit, so sending fast vote. The Banker is a vet, and marching in the parade. Last night they picked up cross from the cemetery, put there for Memorial Day. Rode Willow again last night, and a bit in the morning. I mean just walking around the pen a few times. Her leg does not bother her, unless running, I see her lunge herself, when I come out with a rope, Stephanie said it was because she did not like her leg treated. So, I go out with the halter and rope, "ump-teen" times a day, and when she comes to me, I give her a tiny treat, then pet her and tell her she is a good girl. She needs time to get use to be with me, because she was in with 17 other horses, and it seems they were not too kind to her. She is a bit thin, "compared" to Whisper or the other ponies. In a week or so, I will see if Stephanie can send me what her vet said about Willow.

Hi Kristy, here's a vote for ya. Well a big, big congrats to Whiskey our HOTM! I didn't get on this morning, as I had to shower and leave right after feeding the kids! So it goes like this, 4 x-rays, and we knew the right knee was really arthritic, it's a little worse. Left is getting some arthritis and closing on the one side of the knee cap. But it was as I thought, Medial Meniscus and the Medial Crucial Ligament, both are just sprained, not torn thank goodness. So three choices, a few weeks of topical ointment and patches or anti-inflammatories for 2 weeks, or behind door number three, a Cortisone injection with immediate relief and back to normal by Monday. Went with the hock injection! LOL! Plus he gave me a new left knee hinged brace to wear during really stressful work till the 6 weeks total healing time is up. And we ordered the Synvisc for my right knee! Will do that in about 30 days when it gets approved and delivered to Dr. So by the time I got home, it was rest for today and ice it twice! And since we were starting with a horrific thunder storm, nothing was done with the horses other than fresh water and hay. Time to get Honey's ThunderShirt on her, but I was too late! It should have gone on a few hours before the storm. We laid on my bed, me hugging and consoling a panting, shaking ball of fur! Found my Homeopathic Anxiety calming drops for dogs. It worked fast and helped a lot! Poor baby! More storms till 10 pm, hopefully they will stay south of us! Marion and the blondes.

TGIF! Whiskey and I would like to thank you for July HOTM, what a surprise ♡ I mentioned a month or more ago that I was trying the "bio-spot on" to see how it would work. It works very well and it smells like Parana fly spray. It only has 3 containers in it to last one horse 6 weeks. The Freedom 45 last 3 months for one horse so I believe the cost is the same and it is the same ingredient. I like the Freedom 45 applicator better. The Bio-spot shows a few different area's to apply it so for me, I will use Freedom 45 but add a few area's that the bio spot shows!! Thought you all would like an update. I have a 3 day weekend! Need to get more done around the home place so I don't have any exciting plans. I wish you all a very nice 4th of July holiday ♡

Come visit me, ~Whiskey~ & ♥ Deacon ♥.
