How We Met

This pic of Eddie and I was from Spring of 2004. Eddie was at the barn I rode at and he was the oldest horse there. I instantly fell in love with him. He was the very first horse that I cantered on and it was fun. I started doing Parelli with him and showing him. One time at one of my stable's "Equine Colleges",
a horse whisperer came and she said that Eddie loved me and I reminded him of one of his former owners. About a year ago, Eddie was retired, but they still kept him. In September 2006, everything changed. Eddie was going to be sold. My family thought about buying him, but it just didn't work out with where we lived. A couple with a young granddaughter bought him, along with another horse. It took them a long time to get the other horse into the trailer. The whole time, I stood by Eddie, trying to remember every detail of him. When the trailer was about to leave, I placed my hand on Eddie's muzzle, saying "I'll miss you bud."
I will always remember the look in his eyes and the feel of his breath in my hand when I said that. I stepped down from the trailer and Eddie nickered sadly to me, as if he understood. The trailer left and I stood there, tears streaming down my face. I have never seen him since..
