How We Met
She was born at the stable I boarded my former horse. I got to witness her birth so we've had a bond since the beginning.I plan on owning her my whole life. We have a wonderful bond and she's been a huge part of my life for many years now..

HISTORY OF THE MORGAN
Today, Morgans have few wildernesses to conquer or wars to win, but they still accomplish great deeds. They are loved and revered as dynamite performers in Morgan shows across the country, and as loyal, sensible mounts on America's beautiful trails and pathways; they are treasured by mounted police squads and therapeutic riding programs for their intelligence, soundness, and gentleness; they are winning awards in driving, dressage, reining and cutting competitions against horses bred specifically for these jobs; and no matter what they may be doing or the tack they wear, knowledgeable horsemen see them and know, 'That's a Morgan!'
A bit of the hard-working, determined Morgan legend is with us whenever a Morgan carries a saddle-weary cowhand down a Montana mountain, pulls a carriage around a grueling obstacle course in record time, quietly carries children along a wooded path, or flashes around show rings with a style that causes spectators to cheer. The Morgan, our country's first breed of light horse, is as much a part of America today as it was two centuries ago.'

Yesterday I was leading Sierra around outside of her pasture, when all of a sudden my aunt started up the lawn mower nearby. Sierra reared and as she was coming down her hoof hit my forehead. It didnt hurt very much so I didnt think very much about it, until I saw blood dripping down onto my jacket. I cleaned it up and put a bandaid on it and thought it was fine. Later my mom saw that I had a bandaid on my forehead, and asked me to take it off so she could see what happened. She took one look at it and said, you are getting stitches. By then the docters office was already closed so we had to go to the emergency room. Needless to say it was not a very enjoyable experience. Sierra has been around lawn mowers all summer,and has never gotten too spooked about them so I'm not sure what got into her. Well this blog is getting a bit too long so I dont think I will have a question today. Tommorow I will either be blogging on Friesans or Gypsy Vanners.

Thanks my wonderful HC pals for supporting ALLIANCE for her HOTD win today. She received one last year when I had her on a different page. Now I can tell her late in the day here she is Queen for a Day again, but ALWAYS my princess, the sweet gal. I saw her this morning and she had NO WATER! I was tempted to tell the owner but shut up. I gave her carrots, went in her pasture and told her I thought she won. Now I KNOW and will go back this early evening to give her a “crown” of carrots. Then off to look after ANKA & Tao. I will most likely put ANKA with Alliance by end of the month on Alliance’s page to share. Anka received her HOTD last Sept. 2011. Continued history of the Arabian(requested by Hardwin)Amongst the Bedouin, the life of the Arabian horse was starkly unromantic – harsh, little food of poor quality, scarcity of water, hot dry conditions, times of restrictive confinement followed by swift and tortuous raids. The life of the Bedouin was that of the daily struggle for survival, hence life was approached in the most unforgiving of contexts. Raids were considered an essential element of Nomadic culture, especially those taken against travelers. Life was one of incessant warfare, entailing forced marches and the roughest treatment. Pity was not taken for the injured or dying – death was accepted as both inescapable and inevitable. Both environment and culture seemed the most unlikely combination in which the successful rearing of any creature could long be sustained, yet through centuries of natural selection dictated by the necessity of man’s survival, the Arabian horse has not only efficiently evolved, but astonishingly thrived.
Question of the day: what is your favorite place to ride and why?
A ways behind out place there is a creek and when you cross the creek there are three large hayfields that I like to ride in. The hayfields are very flat and they usually get flooded whenever it rains, but it has been a very dry summer, so they havnt had water standing in them for a long time.

Hi Winnie, here's a vote for ya. Thanks for the congrats on Paige going HOTD! WOW, I just set up her profile last night and she get's the badge of honor her first day on HC. I'm honored, and I know she is too!
We had another really good ride today, she's just a lopin' fool. I did a short video of her on the lunge line, I have to transfer it over to the computer and then I'll up load it to here. Rode Indy also, he was really good, I think he's jealous of me working another horse and now he's starting to lope the way he should! Go figure, it must be a male thing! LOL! Thanks so much to everyone for HOTD. What a nice surprise and I know Betsy is Happy she could share the spotlight with Angel Joanna & Angel Pixie Dust. It's a beautiful day here in UT. Betsy and I spend many a day like this just hanging out together. I would brush her and Ginger then sit on the fence and watch them run around the pasture. I sure miss you Angel Betsy... Here's a Saturday vote for Winnie! I rode the trails today by myself. Luna is used to being with other horses when she goes on trails, so she was a bit skittish. She jumped at every rustling of the leaves! But we finished the ride and she seemed very happy to return to her herd. Have a horsey day! Come visit me, Wizard & ~Luna~.
