How We Met

I was boarding Dream at a stable near my house. Well we had talked to the owners and they wanted to start a pony herd, which was great since there were two POAs coming soon. The showed up one day just as I was going to leave. Monty came off first. Then Hannah, she looked like she didn’t want to be there and she was fussing as she was lead. Her halter was too big, too. Then another trainer there took her and tied her up by her half-brother, Monty. I left, figuring that I would deal with things in the morning. Well the herd plan hadn’t worked out, Hannah had freaked out and attacked Dream. Now they had them in stall with Dream in the middle. It didn’t take long before Hannah had the nickname ‘crazy’. No one could work with her very well and she freaked out anytime someone tried to work with Monty. After she finally settled down to Dream they started living in a paddock together. She charged me a few times and kicked me a couple times, but after a month or so she learned that was probably not the greatest idea. So she pretty much pretended I didn’t exist. I also learned she pretty much only knew how to be brushed. After the barn owner told us she and her half-brother were for sale I decided to start working with her. Lucky me. She didn’t even know how to lead correctly and she was four. So that was where I started. She picked up some of it quickly, but other stuff slowly. One day after working with her, her owner showed up and saw me working with Monty, she felt bad about not being able to work with them, even though she couldn’t, she was sick. Anyway she talked to my dad and we bought them. I’ve been working with her since. It’s not quite been a year and now I’m riding her. We’re still working on the basics, but this is a horse people used to think was unhandable, so that’s pretty good. She leads very well, too, now..
