Chant

A New Career Path for Chant?
I have always known Chant was the horse for me, and my family. What i could never figure out for Chant was his career path. Now, I think I know what it'll be. A therapy horse, for my son. My daughter and I will still work towards showing him, but his major occupation will be as my son's therapy horse.
September 17, 2007, my 5 yr old son was diagnosed with Medullablastoma, a form of brain cancer. The cancer had spread all the way down AJ's spine, and the over all effects (surgery, radiation and when he gets there, chemo, too.) have caused his balance and muscle strength to dwindle.
AJ will finish radiation in 3 weeks time. We can go home for 6 weeks, before starting chemo. During AJ's home time, he will require ongoing therapies. Chant is rather tall for my son, but he is perfectly gaited, and is very dependable with my children. I will be visiting the equine therapy places around the hospital to get a better idea if Chant can excel in this new path.

The kids -
All of my horses are GREAT with the kids. They seem to KNOW that they are in need of protection - my 4 year old rides Miss Kitty and she takes care of him - he fell of off her once and she stood STOCK still until I got over to make sure all was well. I have been very blessed to have horses like her all my life. From Miss Kitty, and Suzie Q
Both Miss Kitty and Suzie have been foundered - Miss Kitty according to my Vet and my Ferrier has made a full recovery...although she was caught RIGHT away. Miss Suzie was not lucky enough. I got her from someone else and they did not know she was foundered. I hope to do *SOMETHING* with Miss Suzie, I just dont know what yet - I would guess from her papers that she is a National Show Horse - being half arab and all. She is a BEAUTIFUL mover and she is accepting of someone on her. It should just be a matter of time before I can do something with her- maybe a year or so... Thanks for visiting all of us!! I will try to update my blog for my herd soon!! LOL
