She has also won 2 trophy breastcollars, 4 belt buckles, $2,601.40 in checks, a trophy headstall, 2 free trips, 3 trophy saddles, a muck-out cart, custom horse blanket, custom jacket & 50+ ribbons. She is one cool horse! Plus she won a lot of prizes! :) Shes also 3rd in the state of AZ (Youth 3D 2010) & 1st in the state of AZ (Youth 4D 2011).
My Horse's Favorite Treat: Winnies Cookies, Apple Treats, Carrots, Watermelon, Apples, Cantalope, Dog Food & Honeydew.
My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: Run, Be Lazy, Eat & Roll around in the pasture.
Pet Peeves: Love's to be spoiled rotten, hates flys & does not like to be by herself.

How We Met
Well, i found her in one of our old Horse Trader magazines as: 16yr old Barrel Horse. Awesome high school or college rodeo horse. That was back in Nov. of 2006. So, we went up to Chino Valley,Az & decided to go try her out. I needed a faster barrel horse because Springer (R.I.P.) was gettin older at the time. My dad, sis, & grandma went with me. So i jumped on her and walked around some. I was so nervous!! Then she decided to try & bolt back to the barn, but i just turned her around real quick. She tried to run me into their house...haha, scary. Anyways, after that we came back 2 months later & bought her. Shes been my lil princess since then <3 I love Stormy to bits!! She has won a lot of $$$$ for me, 4 trophy saddles, 4 buckles, & the title of JR.Rodeo Queen 07-08. :)

Today is the last day for the next week that I will be able to leave normal daily blogs and votes for a few days. My oldest son is visiting from Kabul. We pick him up at the airport Sunday!!! Today is his 31st birthday! We will be out cramming all we can into a few days. I will not have much computer time. I will try to vote contest each day and I will try to help with the newsletter on Thursday.

Hello!!
We sure have been having crazy weather here in southern Indiana...two days ago we were in the 60's. Today, around 28 degrees, it started snowing; possible 2 inches!! I haven't had time to ride and my mare thanks me! But my gelding shows signs of boredom-picking on the mare----licking her buttocks and chewing on her halter, etc!!!! I need to free up some time and get back to daily riding or I'll be in the market for a new halter!Come visit me, Ella Bee & My Thirty Six.

A few months ago I began a part time job. Well, that is more like full time now. As you have noticed my irregularity on HC, I am pressed for time and energy. Lately, I have fallen asleep at the computer and I don't know how I have not fallen out of this chair. LOL! When I am mentally and physically able, I will leave a vote for each of your profile pages. There may be several times that I will only vote for one page. If you have a preference as to which page I leave the main vote on, please let me know and I will try to do that for you.
Trying to do many things is wearing me down. There have been so many things that have crossed my mind that I wanted to mention or ask you about, but by the time I get to my blog, I can not remember those things. I am going to try and write things down before I forget them.

History on the Gorgeous Akhal-Teke

The Akhal-Teke evolved about three thousand years ago in southern Turkmenistan where they are the national emblem. They are named after the nomadic tribe that bred them and are found mostly in Turkmenistan and Russia. These beautiful horses adapt to severe, climatic conditions and remain to be one of the oldest and purest breed of horse still living today. They are thought to be the predecessors of the Arabian and English thoroughbred breeds. Due to their endless stamina and the ability to withstand great extremes of temperature they were originally bred as war mounts and later for racing. Today the Akhal-Teke is used in all competitive equine sports including endurance, dressage, jumping, and eventing. First of all I want to say my thoughts and prayers have been with Maria and Angel Scout♡ it broke my heart to hear the news. Of course I cried for a good while and Cliff was like “what happened Sherry, what’s going on” I explained to him and he understands in a way. I think some folks don’t understand what we all feel about our HC friends and equines….
It was very beautiful and sunny all weekend. I however did not ride. My back had started small muscle spasms on the Thursday and it got a little worse over the next few days. I had to take some meds all weekend before it got too bad. So I just watched the horses graze. Gave them hugs and love and took it easy. Anyway, I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend!

After church today Young Cowboy and I finally enjoyed HorseTime! Most of my time was taken removing mudd from horses, but I enjoyed every minute! Finally to ride! I did not ride Saturday with friends because I had not ridden in weeks and I do not like to take Fancy out when I have not worked with her.
Young Cowboy is very excited for his 12th birthday tomorrow!
The changes to HC are very nice. I am happy to see it does not look like we have lost any friends here.
Well, I better hurry to bed, we have another big day coming :)

Started Sadie on psyllium today. Scruffy thinks he's in competition with her, I guess. He wanted it, too. He shares carrots with her. I have to give him some when she has some. He loves them. Must think he's a horse, too. He gets so excited when I let her out of the corral. Tries to get her to chase him. She doesn't share the same affection toward him. Gets on her nerves. I still have not been able to ride …wet and cold. I do not have an arena or an indoor one!!! I have to haul out to Lake Whitney when it is wet and it is 30 minutes away so after work there is not enough time before dark. Once it dries up some I can ride around my home again. Otherwise I plan to haul out Caturday & Sunday. I can hardly wait.

Did you partake in any horse event during this first few days of 2013? It has been a bit muddy in our yard, so we have not :(
I enjoyed the rains, and the quiet times that came with it. The days might be a little cool to me, but we are finally expecting to see dry, sunny days again! The weekend is even expecting to warm up in the low 50's! That means we will have a chance of riding ☀

COWBOY & TRIGGER, the Young Prince & King of January: I called Cowboy into the room and told him to read the computer screen. He read it and he said smiled. I asked him if he knew what it meant. He said Trigger won HOTD. I told him no, read it again. He asked me what is HOTM. I explained to him that means Horse Of the Month. He was very excited as he told me in his own 11 year old words that HOTM was a great surprise in addition to his birthday being Monday! Trigger was his usual calm ole self, just mellow and go lucky, and trying to get along with miss Bossy Pants, Fancy. Cowboy and Trigger send thanks for voting them Jan HOTM. Hey! My week has been muddy, the snow decided to melt the day I have to work at the barn! There is nothing like getting your boot stuck in mud putting out new round bales. I rode Cloud in the smaller ring because there was less mud, do I decided to work on position rather than jumping. <33 Voted

Cowboy has a CatChannel page, has anyone noticed CatChannel has taken the same format as DogChannel. I have spent quite some time on DogChannel to learn my way around in case HorseChannel does the same. It is not very hard to vote and blog there. It was so cold and windy for my day off. It also rained early and stayed cloudy and drizzly all day as well. No horsey time which made me sad but I couldn’t have found a better way to pass the winter cold day!!!!
My son and grandson came over Thursday night to stay a few days. Now that was fun!!!! Other than feeding my time was spent in the house with a 2 ½ year old comedian!! That Jason (grandson) is the happiest human I have ever met~ha ha. The 3 movies we watched were so awesome. I have forgotten how much fun it is to be with a little one non-stop for a few days! We watched: Lady and the Tramp*Zookeeper & Babe-Pigs in the city (various other kid shows threw the day=Disney jr). Cliff and I laughed till we cried for hours…I know some of you have grandkids and can so relate to this! Those who don’t yet will cherish the time when you get to that phase of your life ☺
Little Jason kept going to the window wanting me to pick him up so he could see the horses. He says their names so cute how can I resist!!

Big hello to all. It's sunny here, but a little on the chilly side for those of us who live in the desert. The neighbors, a few acres up, have another horse. They had it tied in the backyard. Figure it must be someone else's horse since it wasn't put in the corral with the one they got a few weeks ago. Those horses like to watch us when we're outside with Sadie. They call to us, too. I would take Sadie to visit, but I'm not sure if she'd be neighborly. Never know with her. Not sure if the horses are mares, either. She doesn't care for other mares. She'll glance their way, but doesn't seem as interested in them as they seem to be with us.......Went back to work Friday night. I've been off since Christmas Eve. Good Morning! How has your week been? I am back on normal schedule until New Years. Along with cold temps, much needed rains have finally returned to North Carolina. We had quite a few days of rain and are expecting more throughout the upcoming week. We need some snow at our house this year! I know some areas are covered with snow! If snow is at your house, please be careful as you go about your daily activities. Today is a sunny day, but I was hoping to get some much needed horsey time. I have soo much to do today, I don't know what will happen. Fancy needs more of my attention than running out with a treat throughout the day.

Had a nice, lazy ride on a lazy Miss Sadie Thursday. She's usually good about taking the bit when I put her bridle on. She fought it. She gave me a weird look when I started tightening the cinch, but she was good about lifting her hooves for me to pick them. I figured it must've been opposite day. Got a nice lazy ride on her. She started out with resisting at first, walking sideways, wanting to go where she wanted to go. I rode her until she was obedient and for a while afterward. Felt good to put on that pair of boots. i had a wonderful, and very busy, Christmas holiday. we made a gingerbread house, watched "elf", travelled to my sister's family on the north side, about 60 miles from me. i made white chocolate peppermint bark, corn souffle' and green bean wraps. :) i got a horse book, "rescued by a horse" and the DVD of "war horse" amongst other things. tonight we went to see "the hobbit" which i really enjoyed. been working full days and no riding. What a glorious time of year! Sorry we have been so busy. Now I can tell you about our Christmas holiday. It was filled with Christmas play practice, eating, shopping, & cooking. The usual things :) The only fun horsey time we have enjoyed has been running out the back door to feed them quick snacks through each day. That has really helped Trigger to stop running away from me. LOL. This was my first Christmas attending our candle light service. I enjoyed that and plan to make it part of my future Christmas traditions. Christmas dinner was the best ever! My sister helped my mom cook! I helped do little things like prep and put stuff in place, etc. Christmas night, we drove to a nearby town to see the light show. They have made several improvements and it was the best light show yet.
We look forward to reading about your 2012 Christmas. As we visit your pages, we enjoy all the Christmas photos and holiday avatars. I hope you enjoyed some horsey time somewhere along the way.
