♥ Hey! Sorry I haven't been on in forever... I don't have internet and my gparent's cable/internet got struck by lightning, so I haven't been on the computer in FOREVER!!! So is Angel back from the breeders yet? How did everything go? I tried to check out the web-link to see his picture but the computers being stupid and it won't let me. So, how's Taz and all the other horses? Dreamer and Butterscotch are doing great- they're finally putting some real weight on after we wormed them, and they're getting a couple hours of good grazing (as you can see in Dreamer's picture) every day, so it's workin out good... I've been riding bareback a lot lately, still, and I finally (intentionally) trotted without falling off! Yay! It was only for about 30 sec's, but still, baby steps! Well, let me know how everything with Angel went... here's a vote!!! ♥

♥ Whew! You sure know your stuff about breeding... So you're breeding Angel to another TW or are you doing another breed?... Both of my gals are doing well- I'm getting ready to go ride Butterscotch, hopefully. She is a little bit of a hassle to bridle, unless my gpa is around (she knows she can't mess around with him- he's twice my size and twice as tall as she is), so I may have to wait till my gpa gets home. He's usually my Partner in Crime (a.k.a. all things horses), so hopefully he can help me out. Well, here's a vote... again, I hope all goes well with Angel! ♥

♥ I do hope to spend A LOT of time riding over the summer, though I will be working at an equine vet like last summer... the vet's really cool, and I've learned a lot about horses and riding from working with him. But, I'll be able to ride at least every night, which will be great! I'm excited! That's awesome about your mare, Angel... That'd be so cool to have a little filly or colt runnin around! Since Dreamer's registered, and at prime breeding age, my gpa said we'll be able to breed her soon- maybe even this summer, I hope. She has had one baby w/ a registered QH and apparently it sold for A LOT! I'm keeping our neighbor's (technically not our neighbor but he lives close) Buckskin QH in mind... he's a handsome fella! I've been feeding that horse treats for years, way before I got my own. Well, here's a vote! I hope all goes well with Angel! ♥

Here's an update on Fresca's progress. I rode Fresca for a hour in one of the hazelnut orchard yesterday. I walked, trotted, and cantered her! My Grandpa said that he was surprised that I got her out of a walk. Whatever. She really likes to run, she just has to do it at the right time. Grandpa also made me get off and on again. Fresca was perfectly fine and stood perfectly still. My Mom was the one who was nervus! Fresca's doing good on the lunge line too. I almost got her to walk, trot, and canter on voice commands. Just using a little whip now. She still hates her legs getting brushed but getting better. She doesn't throw a fit when I put the bridle or saddle on her either! She's making progress! Check out the new picture on Fresca's page! Talk to you later. Happy Trails! -Hana and her horse, Fresca-

Come visit me, Fresca.

♥ Hey! The ride went great... Dreamer did awesome! I practiced the one-rein stop alot, and every time I'd stop her, I'd make her back up too... it was wonderful! And I got the bridle and saddle on twice! She's acting like a completely different horse since we got Butterscotch, which tells me she had been lonely before. We did get both horses wormed, and I am not dead!... we didn't use the applesauce idea, but they still did ok. Well, here's a vote! So how have you and all you horses (including Taz) been doing? ♥

♥ Wow! That Relay for Life event sounds like it was really cool! Thanks so much for all the advice... you're right about the whole confidence thing. I'm a gentle person, but having horses has brought out my stronger side! I had a "lovely" time trying to put EquiSpot on both horses... they both totally freaked out, and Butterscotch almost reared! It was bad! From now on I'm stickin to regular flyspray... I was just trying to use something my trainer recommended. Of course, I can't say I blame those girls for being upset... I would like slimy stuff poured on my back, legs, forhead, or, er, tail area either! And tomorrow, before my ride, I get to worm both horses... goody! If you don't hear back from me just assume my horses killed me! : ) Just kiddin! I heard that it helps to put some applesauce (in an empty worming tube) in their mouth first, then worm them so they think they're gettin more applesauce... is that true? Well, hope you and all your horses are doing good. Have you gotten some good riding time in lately? Here's a vote! Thanks again for all the advice! ♥

I hate to here that that girl got hurt... I'm so sorry! But I am familiar with the Relay for Life program, I've just never heard of doing it on horse back! That's awesome! Both of my gals are doing good... the same person who came and rode on Saturday is coming to ride with me on Thursday, and I'm gonna try riding Dreamer. We'll see how it goes, I'm just kinda nervous. Dreamer can get real crazy sometimes, and she's a huge horse for a person my size (I really short!grr!), so if she tries something, I'm in trouble. But, we have been working on the one-rein-stop with both horses, so at least I'll have that to use in the case of Dreamer being naughty. Well, here's a vote! ♥

Thanks! Both horses could stand to put more weight on, but they're both doing good- and looking better than they have been. I am practicing the one rein stop on Butterscotch- thanks again for that advice. Both horses are doing pretty good... we took Dreamer and Butterscotch (and my friends 2 geldings) on a 4 hour trail ride at my place yesterday. It was fun (though now I'm so sunburned it hurts to move)- I rode Butterscotch (who did really good- we borrowed my friends saddle and we finally picked up her own bridle), my gpa rode Dreamer... they both behaved well, though Butter. stopped for grass like every 5 seconds and kicked out at another horse. Other than that they both did good. So where do you usually ride Taz- on trails? (here's a vote!) ♥

Thanks for the vote! Things have been going good with both horses... I have a couple friends coming over in about 45 minutes for a trail ride on our land- we have about 55 acres with woods and trails, so it'll be nice to have someone to ride with. They're bringing an extra saddle for Butterscotch, so that'll be good. Well, again, thanks for all that advice! I work for a vet during the summer so I know a lot about horse health, just not-so-much about riding, so I can use all the advice! Well, here's a vote!

Hey! It's been a long week, and I haven't gotten much riding time in with Butterscotch, but I will definately try that technique next time I can... Dreamer's trainer told me to turn 'em in circles when they were being nuaghty, so that's all I knew! Gosh, you're so smart! Thanks for the help! We finally put Dreamer and Butterscotch in the pen together, and they're doing good. Butterscotch, though about 3 hands shorter than Dreamer, has TOTALLY been the dominant one. Any time Dreamer gets to close, Butterscotch brays like a donkey and kicks out... it's hilarious! I really don't like being in the pen when they're in there together, cuz I know that could turn into a dangerous situation, so we've been leaving their halters on so we can get in there and out. It's working out great, and Butterscotch has Dreamer all whipped into shape... I haven't seen Dreamer behaving this well since her trainer visited from Wisconsin! I'm so excited! Well, here's a vote for Taz... again, thanks so much for the advice!

Thanks! Ya, I'm hoping they do ok. I just got done with an hour long bareback ride on Butterscotch. She knows I can't balance bareback at a trot, so everytime we get near the green patch in the field, my grandparent's house, my house, or the gate to her pen, she takes off. I fell off once in the field and landed on my feet, but was able to get back on... the second time I fell off I landed on my rear and rolled. Then she took off at a canter towards the pen! It was quite a sight to see: I was covered in dirt, rolling after her with my arms in the air! Lol! I was laughing both times, though I was mad- I really need to buy another saddle for Butterscotch and another bridle for Dreamer. She is so bad about taking off, though- I try to give the horses I ride some slack in the reins, but with her I'm constantly having to hold her back and tell her "WALK!" I get so irritated! Any advice? (Left a vote!)

Thanks! Ya, I haven't ridden Dreamer in a while simply cuz she's such a pain in the rear... it takes me lunging her FIVE TIMES on and off before I can get on her bareback- with someone leading! I'll try and get on, and she'll pivot to the side or step away... But I have gotten to spend some time with her in the pen, just lovin on her and pettin her, like when I feed her. Butterscotch is still doing good... we had a big rain (and more coming our way right now) and we found Dreamer and Butterscotch side by side, comforting eachother, with only the fence seperated. I think Dreamer was so lonely (before we got Butterscotch she would canter up and down the fence ALL DAY, covered in sweat), but now she's doing much better. I think they'll be ready to put in the pen together in about a week or so... but anyways, well, here's a vote!

Thanks! We are trying to put more weight on her... I'm feeding her two scoops of Strategy every night and taking her out to graze. Part of the reason she's so skinny is cuz she had a baby just last year (and seven others before that), and she's gettin so up there in years that she's having a hard time puttin that weight on. We got her, also, so she wouldn't have to keep having babies for 2 more years (cuz they probably would have bred her again this year, and she couldn't have handled that), cuz at her age I'm sure that's not healthy. But, she is doing very good... loves the goats, the dogs, the cats... and suprisingly enough, Dreamer. They are seperated right now, with Dreamer in my gparent's yard and Butterscotch in the big pen (with the goats), but there's a common fence where they can touch noses, and so far they've done good. Butterscotch is a sweet, laid back little thing, although she's as stubborn as a mule! You can definately see the Shetland in 'er! Lol! I've ridden her 4 times bareback now through the field, just me and her, and she does great, although I can't balance when she trots!!! Dreamer is so smooth I guess I've gotten spoiled, cuz on Butterscotch I go flyin up and down in the air. I suppose part of that is just gettin used to ridin bareback (these last four times have been my first real attempt at riding TRUE bareback with no one leading), but all in all, the rides have been good, safe, long, and, most importantly, fun! I already love Butterscotch so much! Well, here's a vote!
