MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
It doesn't seem as if we have had a good dry day since the rains started. We are even expecting rain this Friday, CHRISTmas Day! We can't do our daily exercises because of mudddd:) But we will be very greatful for all of this rain come the spring and summer. omg!
i love your horses and your horse is that is real name jericho? because my mom named mine i was wondering did he come from the pony swim? he looks like he did. i have never before meet a horse that is a chinc. pony and has the same name as my horse that is like so cool :). well we shoukd keep in touch. sorry i havent been on in awhile. lol i am leaving you a vote a vote for the best horses in the world(the jerichos)!Come visit me, Peggy, Jericho & Summer.

A Vote and A Note from Shybang
Here's a vote for you jericho- sure sounds like your mom loves you sooo much. Love the question mark stripe on your forehead. I just came back from a 2 day camping trip with my human mom. We live in Texas and went to a National Park in Somerville Tx where they have a horse campground with corrals for the horses and electric hookups and water for the humans horse trailers so they can plug in their air conditioners. We went out on the trails Friday morning and again in the evening for several hours each time and then we went again on Saturday morning for a few hours. We saw deer and got to play in the lake and climb up hills. It was pretty hot (in the low 90's) but we were lucky that most of the time there was nice breeze. It was fun - got back last night. unfortunatly I've never been lucky enough 2 ride a gypsy vanner:( I've seen them @ 2 breeding farms in FL but I haven't seen taskin ever! It's my dream to be able to see him but I actually don't think I ever will. Ok, sounds cool! I don't compete either actually; I have never had the oppurtunity. I don't own any of these horses but if you look at their profiles you see: Pete and Buddy are my lessons horses, Missy and Mr. Kool are my instructor's show horses, Taskin is my dream horse--I made a profile of him after someone made a fake of his pic and said he was a mare (!) and I wanted to set it straight, Breyer is of Breyer Animal Creations, Gypsy Gold Farm is of my visit there, Gold and Chocolate Horses is of palomino and chocolate palomino horses, the Haflinger is Haflingers-one of my favorite breeds, Jolanda Adelaar and Guusje is of one of my favorite dressage horses (Jolanda is his owner), Paddock Cakes is of the world's best horse treat, and ~♥* Theadore O'Conner *♥~ is a page in memory of one of the biggest little horses that ever walked the planet! Please vote for Theadore O'Conner, Karen O'Conner's eventing star! The dear pony had to be euthanized May 28 after falling and hurting himself severely. He was short-listed for the Olympics this year and he's won the Team and Individual Gold Medalist from the 2007 Pan American Games and had top six finishes at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event in 2007 and 2008. He was the 2007 USEF/Farnam Horse of the Year. Can we all honor this pony with the power by giving him Horse Of The Day? Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner, it's been crazy busy.
How are you feeling? I hope you are all better by now.
How is your sweet Jericho doing?
I saw my Jericho yesterday, turned him out into the pasture and he just stood there. He just wanted me to talk to him and pet him. It was such a sweet moment for me....he missed me and just wanted to be with me not his pasture friends. Today our weather is going to be in the 70's...nice! The weekend was cold and rainy, I'm tired of the rain and mud. My Jericho LOVES to roll in the mud...does yours?

OH update on my friends horse with the bad ground matters....yesterday he was AWESOME turning him out. I've been using the chain around his halter and I think he finally figure it out that he just better listen to me. What an improvement, much better and not so wild and crazy.

WOW, I hope you feel better really soon.
No trailing ridding for me yesterday, we had a storm, today rain all day ( off and on) tomorrow OK but then it's suppose to storm and get cooler all next week. I was really looking foward to it because as summer starts then we have BUGS ( flying insects). So right now no bugs...oh well maybe the weather will change.
I will ask around to see if anyone knows anyone that trains in calgary.
Oh I did ride Jericho but only in our in door arena...good times

Howdy
Hi sky
So how's the weather in Canada? I wish I lived closer so our Jericho's could meet....I think they would like each other a lot. I live in Carol Steam Illinois, the weather has just started getting nicer..in fact this week it's been in the 70's. That will change I think they are calling for 50's next week. This pass winter has been hard on the horses WAY TOO MUCH ice. I board Jerchio at a stable in the next town (barlett IL ), it's about 20 mins. from my house. The stables called Sun Set Hill Farm, really nice place, good people.
I don't think being with colts is the problem, of course it would be nicer if he was with an older horse to learn the ropes. Time and patients he will be just find...one day you will say HEY all my hard work paid off.
Last night was so sad, one of Jericho's friends had to be put down. Her name was Missy a 30 year old mare, I just felt so sad for her owner...really nice lady. Not looking forward to that day when I lose my Jericho, seeing something like that just brings the reality of cherishing your horse friend everyday you can.
If the weather holds up for this afternoon, I'm hooking up with some friends to go trail ridding.

I was just thinking about you and Jericho.....How are things going.
Jericho is young so it's just going to take time too train him. Don't let him bully you around....if he goes to bite at you.....you can use a short-sharp smack on the fleshy part of your horse accoumpanied by a disapproving " NO ".
From what you told me it seems like he is very sweet and wants to be near you BUT he must learn respect....don't except anything less.
With teaching the Halt....you can use a change thorough his halter, you will have better control. When you say "HO" make him stop right away....pull down on the lead rope and make him stay. Then say " Walk" and start moving again. Just work with him everyday on this and he will learn what HO means. Don't let him Bully you!

Howdy Friend
Well first off – how is Jericho’s ground matters? Does he listen well while walking him on a lead rope?
How is he on cross ties?
Ground matters are very important in the start of training a horse; he MUST listen and respect you. He must understand that YOU are #1 and he is #2 and NOT the other way around. He is young so you have to work with him everyday on the respect factor and Don’t give in. Use baby steps with him everyday, reward him when he listens…..as time goes by he will understand. Paints are VERY smart horses they have an excellent blood line.
If he does already have really good ground matters and listens well-----as for the lunging it sounds like a respect factor. I would stop him in his tracks pull down hard on his halter on the lung line and say ‘NO” or “Quit” (which ever one you use) really firm. Every time he does this, stop him and do it again. It may take awhile but he needs to understand YOU are the boss.
