CANTER-Ohio www.canterusa. org/ohio Great volunteer-only charity, no administrative costs, 100% of everything we raise goes to trailering, vet costs, board, feed, and medicines necessary to rehabilitate retired/rescued racehorses. August 2, 2008 CANTER-Ohio Equine Education Clinic at Cherokee Stables on Borror Road in Grove City, OH 43123. 10 am-2 pm $15 admission, multiple speakers including OSU vet, equine clinic vet, farrier, & an equine massage therapist on hand to cover topics: colic, basic health care & vaccinations, shoeing, & massage, etc. Lots of information for just $15 & see the horses we rescued from the local track & learn how you can help.Come visit me, Turbo Jet.

It's hot here
It's been really hot here- like a million degrees. Mom has been coming down 2 and 3 times a day, and hosing us down to cool us off. She's kinda worried cuz the weatherman said it's supposed to get 20 degrees cooler tomorrow. She said "you're getting electrolytes"- I dunno what those are, but knowing mom, they'll taste pretty good. Buddy and I got new fly masks too, mines green plaid and Buddy's is purple plaid. My blankies are green and his are purple, and you know what? Our halters are like that too. Wonder if mom meant to do that?, bye for now, love, GillyCome visit me, Buddy & Gilly.

Hi I'm Gilly, and I turned 20 years old on the same day as another famous redheaded horse would have- yup, I share my birthday with Man O' War!!! He's not related to me though, mom looked up my pedigree and found I go back to the Darley Arabian and Byerly Turk! Mom has been in my life for almost 14 years. See, I used to race, but I didn't much like it and kept trying to let the trainer know but he didn't listen very well. Finally, I bowed my tendon in mud, and that meant I didn't have to run fast anymore. So, one of the people who had me in a racing partnership (whatever that means) took me on. She sponsored me for a handicapped riding program where my mom was a volunteer. My first mom lived far away and couldn't come see me everyday, so my other mom started taking care of me. I really liked having two moms because I got extra goodies. Then, my first mom decided that since my other mom did such a good job taking care of me, that she should have her name on my papers too. So, that's how come I have two moms. My other mom takes care of me and my brother, Buddy, every day. She works at night and before going home to sleep, she comes and feeds us our breakfast, and gets us out, then before she goes to work she feeds us lunch, and another lady gives us a bedtime snack. Mom says it's important for us to always have food to eat to keep our tummies healthy. She has a special certified organic vitamin supplement made up for us, and also one made up because I was pretty sick for a couple years with my liver. But mom got that fixed through her friend that is an equine nutritionist and makes our supplements and best of all our Win-Treats!!! I used to only eat carrots and would spit everything out, but now, I eat my Win-Treats first. Come back and visit me often, okay?
