How We Met
~*I'm not Jolanda Adelaar and Guusje isn't mine! They live in Holland. I made this profile from information on www.super guus.com and videos from youtube. Guus is one of my FAVORITE horses!*~
*Jolanda, a girl in Holland, had always loved horses and took weekly riding lessons. When she was 12, she went to horse camp and met a stallion that she instantly loved. No one new who his parents were or how old he was. But Jolanda wanted to buy him anyway. After much pleading, her parents told her that if she could find a pasture to rent from a farmer for Guus to stay in, she could buy him. She visited every farm and found a field that her new horse could share with cattle. At first she had no tack, but she made a bridle herself from a rope and rode him bareback. As time passed and the skills of both Jolanda and Guusje improved (and she bought tack!), they began competing in showjumping, cross country, and dressage. Guus was the best at dressage, and together they climbed to its highest levels. In 2006 they competed at the FEI World Cup Dressage. Jolanda wrote a book about her wonderful horse and called it "Guus." She illustrated it herself. Though there was a lot of prejudice against ponies like Guus, Jolanda knew her dream horse could do anything. And he did!***.
