A Vote for You!!
Beautiful start of this day. Last few days have been just of opposite of you. Temps in the 60's, nice breeze, and still sunny. Just perfect, wish I could bottled it and send it to you.
Yesterday, I hinted at me taking in another horse. I will be trading tack, so very busy to clean and get things together. All I know is she is a 12 yr old, little Appy, reddish roan type, sweet eyes, (which is my downfall....that and bald faces), but she has a front leg injury, which was never treated, and left scar tissue, so she sometimes limps. Great for how I ride, just out in my pastures and around the farm. The gal that brought Kisses, took her in last fall, and vet has checked her out and did treat her, but it was an old injury. Will let everyone know how it goes....just have to not tell my Banker. Sometimes what goes on in my head, and heart, its best he does not know.....hee, hee :)

For some reason HC or computer is so slow, it is taken me so long to vote this morning. In between weeding the garden, and feeding weeds to pigs, washing and cleaning tack, which I "hope" to trade for a large pony, small horse, that will be "just my size". Will tell everyone more later when I have more information. All I know right now is 48-50 inch mare, a Appaloosa, and about 12 yrs old broke but has a limpy leg, from scar tissue, of untreated leg sore.

here's my news on Zortea. I've been sacking him out the past few days. Used a towel, saddle pad, lead rope, lariat and training stick. touched him all over his topline and beneath his belly too. picked out all his feet. he doesn't like to lift them quickly but I got it done slowly. he is terrified of fly spray so I have to spray a cloth then rub it over him, which is time consuming. we'll work on this as time allows. he's not super food motivated. when he's watching the object he won't be distracted by a carrot or cookie. he does move away from whiskey for long stretches now. before he was on his tail every time he moved. I can catch him in much quicker time. it's very humbling to earn the trust of a wary horse. it's been awhile since I've had to prove myself

It is nice out this morning, rained, well poured so hard coming home, (55 miles) from gradation party, that cars were pulling off the road. Our windows were open at home, and we wanted to go to Mass at 4, so we just slowed down to a fast crawl, and 10 miles from home, it was not raining at all, so closed windows, and went to another Mass at 4:30, glad we did...a beautiful guitar Mass, singing was so good. Started raining while I was doing chores, and getting everyone in for the night. Thunder and lightening was powerful, and again rained. My feed tubs had at least 3 inches in them......and lots of mud again.

Glad you got your tack room cleaned and straightened, sorry about the wasp sting. I think God needs to eliminate flies, fleas, ticks, wasps, rattlesnakes and fire ants. Maybe a few more mostly useless beasties (horseflies & deer flies)

Practice up real good on your tack room, then come and help me....:) I have gotten a little start, but so much more to do.
Have graduation party today, and hopefully, will be back by Mass/church. Guinea hens will have to stay in their pens, because no one will be home to be on "guinea" watch. In the late afternoon, they seem to want to walk across the road, into the woods on the other side. Better bugs on that side, I guess. I am afraid they will get hit by a car, since they fly up, from the long grass, to get back home, if they are frightened.

Sorry, I did not get to finish voting yesterday morning. It seems like always one more job. Then my son brought my grandson, Dominic down, who is 12, and always hungry. So I started making him breakfast, of fried potatoes and bacon. We went to brush the rabbits, and still working on Auroa's tangles....have to cut her fur down to the skin, since she is a long haired bunny and this spring got into cockburrs, and her whole body was one big mess. It is very sloooooooooooooooow work, 1/4 inch snips at a time. I think I found her tail. :)

Didn't quite get time to ride yesterday, but I enjoyed spending some time with my daughter. After her doctor's appt we stopped at a coffee shop, one of our favorites that's only in that town, and that was fun. Turns out she has swimmers ear; didn't know that could be so painful.
The horses are all fat and sassy and doing fine. Hope you have a great hump-day.

Here is a Good Morning vote from Whisper and the little herd. I took Kisses off of HC, since now Stephanie has her papers too. I want to find time to add Pickles, then put all the horses under 1 page, it would be so much easier to manage. Temps here were 48 this morning, but going to get hot later today. Yesterday was perfect, nice wind all day, clothes all dried on the line so fast. Transplanted, squash plants, from where we need to enlarge the pig pen, once both sows, get closer to having their babies, called "piglets". Chickens followed me around so see if I was going to make another spot that they would get worms for free.

Whew! I'm worn out from this sun and heat. I made the trip to Waco and picked up my rescue horse, which I named Zortea (meaning lucky), from a kill pen headed to slaughter. He stayed at a nearby stable for one month of quarantine before I brought him home. He had a hoof abscess that seemed to get worse on the ride back to Houston. I had to pack it for a few days. He's still limping slightly on it so I won't be able to ride him for awhile. We also brought Sherry's Whiskey back for a stay here at Cross Creek until she gets her barn back up. Lots of changes here and more work! I love spending time watching the herd get used to one another. I still haven't turned them all out together because of Zor's sore hoof. I don't want him running around trying to protect himself. Whiskey is a love. He's been ridden by 2 riders here and they both love him. You can tell he wonders why we just go around and around in the arena instead of out on the trail. lol. I posted pics of me with Cheryl & Sherry with Whiskey as we met at the quarantine barn. The others are Zortea. I had 2 of my students groom him so that is one of the pics. He is 15 hands, chestnut, has white hairs along his cheeks but no other markings. His left eye has an old injury so it's bashed in at the top. He's very wary and would move away every time I tried to catch him. That's changed as I carry Mrs Pastures cookies in my pockets and when he finally comes around he gets one. Yesterday I could walk up to him in the turn out pen without him running off. I do a lot of that, then just pet him so he doesn't think it always means work when I come up to him.

So sorry I haven't been on. HC was down, then I had long shifts at work, making it impossible to vote. The wind was so hot when I got off work, Sunday night, my eyes burned. I came home, watered some of my trees, filled Sadie's water and splashed her butt with the hose. I got a dirty look, lol. What a brat. She's doing well, drinking lots of water. Thankful the heat doesn't seem to bother her. I started her on psyllium pellets, again. I mixed them with carrots and apples. She'd eat them without a treat, but I love to spoil her. And yes, I pay for it. Lol. Love and a vote.

Hi Susie & Friends, here's a vote for ya. Happy Happy Birthday to ya! Well I'm not liking these hot days at all! Today was like 90, so needless to say, horses didn't get turned out! I did get all the mowing finished in 3 days, so the place shouldn't be a hay field when I get home next Sunday night. Trailer is in place and half packed! Just need to put extra bedding and all their feed and hay in tomorrow. Then hit the road about noon time! Of course it's going to be another hot one! I don't envy them in that trailer! I lunged Paige and did showmanship. Indy got to free play. Then Honey and I went down about 3 pm and did hay and water. And by the way, Honey did a sit stay and watched me pick stalls, empty water buckets 70 feet from the barn and then I filled them and hayed the horses. She never moved! This little pup is so smart! Love her! Well, I won't be on again till next Monday! So take care, vote when you can for my herd and I'll try to check in on FB during the show. Marion and the blondes.

Happy BD! Cool that you get paid time and a half for working on your BD. Scott has started tearing down old fencing, will go and get cattle panels to replace it tomorrow, then plan on bathing Bo and Jazz. They have both been sweating a lot. Still hot today, but nothing like yesterday, it was like being out in a sauna!

Wow, all 4 horses got a bath? Thats a lot of work, but glad you had that time with them. Yeah, you know they'll find some more mud to roll in as soon as they can, but they look good now.
It's been hot and humid here too, up to 99 a couple of days. August temps in June, they say. I've been riding Allie, still just at a walk mostly, and she's finally getting softish . So we're starting to add in a little trotting.
Well, hope you have a good Father's Day weekend. Take care.

Hi Susie & Friends, here's a vote for ya. WOW you got all four done! Good for you! I know how long that takes with just 2 horses and a donkey! But four horses is a lot more work! Hope you hosed yourself off to stay cool. Well it's hot and humid here too! So we're going to the indoor to work Honey, and she's off leash. She spots something out by the manure pit and takes off! Honey No! She stopped! Was about 40 feet from me by then. Said, Honey Come, she ran right back to me. Good Girl, treat for that. Then we worked in the indoor with some of the large doors open, more airflow that way. She never went near them! Now I'm getting Paige ready to lunge and ride, an hour earlier than normal time. Wanna beat the heat! Nope, my hay man that cuts my back field shows up to mow! Paige on the wall for 45 minutes. That field is right behind the indoor, don't want to be a dirt dart three days before a show! Got a good ride in then and some nice 360's out of her. We were both soak'n'wet in that hour! Turned them out about 4 pm, at least a little cooler and less bugs. I mowed the lawn around the house then. Supposed to be worse tomorrow. Probably will be hooking up to the trailer in the am and starting to load it up! Marion and the blondes.

Come visit me, Nuttin But Good. Tkx Allie, BJ, Gracie for 15100!, R.I.P. Hi Tech Image, Tks Bella Boo of DC #16300! & MWS Zippn By Indy, Tks. Mom, Paige, H.T., 20,900!.

Yep, hear you about the mud. So far, Bo and Jazz seem to stay clean, Cisco is only clean because he's in the round pen (sand) at night, so Nugget is the only one that gets dirty. Miserable today, the horses were sweating when I fed this AM, and the "feels like" hit 108, very humid. Started adding electrolytes to their evening feed a few days ago, a tablespoon of stack salt in the AM.
