Thanks to all who voted. It would be cool if Whiskey someday got HOTD.
The Standardbred breed is just a wonderful horse and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good horse.
The collage I attended did not acccept gaited horses at the time. But I did not tell them Whiskey paced.
The first time my riding instructors rode him they were so confused. He looked like a QH but had that funny gait they did not know. When I told them he was a pacer but that he trotted too they were amazed. It took a lot of work to get Whiskey to trot consistently and to canter with balance. But eventually he became a highly valued school horse.
When I graduated Whiskey remained behind so I could get settled into my new life. When I called them a year later to say I was coming to get him the begged me not to take him away. Whiskey graduated collage at the age of 23.Come visit me, Jewel, Whiskey, Baby & Pumper.

Oh, no problem, Thanks about Spook, he is a character! But then again, most arabs are. Tomorrow one of his sons are going to be saddle trained, I will post some pics of the son and make a profile of him. The secret to long life....
Whiskey was a horse that always loved to go for a ride. Even in his last riding days he was a spirited boy who loved to run and jump. I honestly think that a horse benefits from being ridden at whatever level he can for as long as possible.Come visit me, Jewel, Whiskey, Baby & Pumper.

The photos were taken when he was 32... I wish I had pics of him the last few years but I think I only got one right before he died. Not sure where it is.
Whiskey retired from riding at age 35. He died about 7 months later at age 36.
He was one of the best horses I have eve had the privilege to know.Come visit me, Jewel, Whiskey, Baby & Pumper.
