My Horse's Achievements: Sing has been a show horse, trail horse, fox hunter and lesson horse. Smooch was used in the security patrol around Bush Intercontinenta- l Airport when we were on high security alert after 911. They asked for volunteers and I used him and Sing both to patrol the perimeter.
Princeton has been a super lesson horse and is always a favorite. Peach used to pull a wagon and has been retrained to ride. Same for Buttercup, who has also won $$ as a barrel racer at our local playday. Godiva and Peek have both been shown in walk/trot division and won championships.

My Horse's Favorite Treat: Apples, carrots, cookies, & pony pops are the usual treats.

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: Play with the red apple or grazin' toy, lick the himalyan salt lick or pony pops, get sprayed with the hose or play in the water trough, lay in the sun or roll.

Pet Peeves: The scary bull in the next pasture, rain, touching ears, dogs & cats.

How We Met

Sing was bred at Walmac Farm in Lexington, KY. Her sire, High Brite, was a success as a race horse. He won over $1.5 million and became a stud horse. She was sold at Keeneland for $7000 to Randy Preston trainer. She raced 4 times and was out of the money each and every time so he sold her to a friend he had here in the Houston area. She was at an eventing barn here. She was too small for the woman who had intended to buy her. I looked at her and decided to buy her. She has a big heart and is quite brave about trying anything I ask of her..

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well nothing done with the horses besides turnout this afternoon after I got home from doctor appointments. Was in the low 70's with a nice cool breeze. Honey and I hung out in the back yard in the shade. This morning I dragged the arena for Thursday rides and brought hay to the barn. Made out good at the Pulmonologist and he read all my blood work and ekg from my major physical back in May. All the other reports were self explanatory and I could figure them out. I'm good to go for another year! Just have to re-do the hearing test on that right ear later in July and go get this left knee looked at! I think I've got a slight tear in the Medial Meniscus! I know the feeling, and it feels like it! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

sweet profile picture, I'm going to put one up of Deacon :) Deacon is doing very well alone. He has my undivided attention and he's eating it up! It has been very hot with the "feels like" from 107-111 so I have hosed him down several days and of course he gets cold carrots numerous times through the day as well. We had storms hit us from 1pm yesterday afternoon until after 7:30 pm. It will make for some hotter days coming up. Have a great hump day ♡

A Vote for You!!
Beautiful Picture!!
Beautiful start of this day. Last few days have been just of opposite of you. Temps in the 60's, nice breeze, and still sunny. Just perfect, wish I could bottled it and send it to you.
Yesterday, I hinted at me taking in another horse. I will be trading tack, so very busy to clean and get things together. All I know is she is a 12 yr old, little Appy, reddish roan type, sweet eyes, (which is my downfall....that and bald faces), but she has a front leg injury, which was never treated, and left scar tissue, so she sometimes limps. Great for how I ride, just out in my pastures and around the farm. The gal that brought Kisses, took her in last fall, and vet has checked her out and did treat her, but it was an old injury. Will let everyone know how it goes....just have to not tell my Banker. Sometimes what goes on in my head, and heart, its best he does not know.....hee, hee :)

I love your new profile pic, but can't believe it's almost the 4th of July. Wow!
Sounds like you have some tweaking to do with Zor, but that's not surprising. Good job getting him to stand quietly at the mounting block. He's in good hands now. Glad he's able to be ridden and you can start enjoying him. He really is stunning in his deep red coat. Have you figured out what breed he is, what kind of gait he does?
Well, better get the day started. I hope to ride Allie this morning, and it's time to add trotting into the mix. Still arguing with myself whether to add a little here and there, or do a lot of it till she knows it's nothing to be afraid of.
Hope you have a good hump-day. Take care.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. WOW those white hairs on both sides of his cheeks and across his nose look like he was in a way to small halter for a long time! Or got hung up and that's how they came about along with the scar above that one eye. Sounds like he might need his teeth done or at least looked at, with not liking the bit. Glad that you saved him and are really taking your time to bring him around to trusting humans again. Woke up to drizzle and misty rain. Very overcast day and now a storm moving in! Honey is under the computer desk at my feet! Well we all feel rested today. Honey had a really good time, she made new friends, and even with some other pups! We did our training session this morning in the indoor. She's off leash all the time going and coming from the barn, she's doing so well. Okay now it's time to work Paige out, yep you can tell she's home. Didn't try to take advantage of me at all! So she's getting ring wise and I'm good at curing that! It'll cost me a class or two, but I'll win that one! Indy got free time to run and roll in the indoor. And since it hadn't rained anymore and wasn't going to for a few hours, out they went! Noses to the grass and never came up for air! Almost 2 hours of relaxing and eating for them. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Glad Zor's abcess has healed and he is doing well. Thinking from the white hairs on the sides of his head, he had an ill fitting bridle. Glad you are so patient with him. Shame so many nice horses wind up in the kill pen. Thought we might get some last night, lots of thunder and lightning, but it stayed to the N & E of us. Feels like has already hit 111, but at least there's a nice breeze and it's been cloudy of and on. Gave Bo a good wash with power water rake, she was really sweaty and seemed to enjoy it. Need to do Cisco tomorrow before I go shopping.

yesterday i decided to use whiskey in a riding lesson and saddle up Zor and ride him while I taught. he doesn't like the bit, though it fit okay. he tosses his head a lot. I lead him to the mounting block and he did not like me being above him, kept backing up. no worries. I began working him around the block in a circle, both ways. finally he got tired of that and stood still so I leapt into the saddle. he was a good boy. I just walked him around on a long rein. I want him to know we'll take all the time in the world to get used to one another. I was afraid he might want to stay right up on Whiskey's tail but no. he was fine turning away from Whiskey and doing all I asked. This saddle sat too low on his spine so I'm going to try a different one. it looked fine until I sat in it! time for a diet. lol.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Zor reminds me of Honey! You don't know their past and you have to start with them like they are a baby. I'm doing the same thing with that pup. We take each day with a new lesson. He'll come around, I have faith in you. Well Sunday's two Ranch Riding classes of course didn't go off till 5 pm or so! We were both ready to go home at that point! LOL! But we got two 3rds in the Novice Ranch Riding and and 2 and 3 rd in the Select Ranch Riding. We scratched out of the Open division, as Paige was really tired and I didn't want to push her. Being there 7 days with no turn out time or down time was tough on both of them. They got to spend the day laying down (rained) and so did I! Slept most of it. We didn't pull in the driveway until 10:15 pm Sunday night! LOL! In all my years of showing, this was the biggest show I've even shown in! Classes were big, a couple of mine had almost 30 horses in them! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Glad Zor is doing better. If he continues to have issues with fly spray, you might want to try Freedom 45 (a spot on). Nugget would go nuts if I attempted to spray her, which is why I started using it. You only have to apply it every 2 weeks. Miserable out today, feels like hit 108, no breeze. Calves are in jail, they got out 3 times last evening, so finally put them in the pen with pipe fencing. That steer just rears up and crashes down on the fence till they can both get over it. Hoping to convince them to get into the trailer Friday and haul them to the sale and get 3 little ones.

I know what you mean about "trust" issues. I have the same things going no with Pickles, (just on a pony size scale). He was doing good, until having his feet trimmed, and then gelding, since then he has had to wear his halter again. But, I will win....he can have the longest neck, when reaching for treats, but those feet sure are glued in one spot. :)

i love Zortea's name. he's really handsome. i know what you mean, you get your own horses used to everything, and you know each other so well, you can work around them without thinking about it much. a new horse sharpens your skills, challenges you a bit. it's all good though, you'll have him up to speed in no time.

here's my news on Zortea. I've been sacking him out the past few days. Used a towel, saddle pad, lead rope, lariat and training stick. touched him all over his topline and beneath his belly too. picked out all his feet. he doesn't like to lift them quickly but I got it done slowly. he is terrified of fly spray so I have to spray a cloth then rub it over him, which is time consuming. we'll work on this as time allows. he's not super food motivated. when he's watching the object he won't be distracted by a carrot or cookie. he does move away from whiskey for long stretches now. before he was on his tail every time he moved. I can catch him in much quicker time. it's very humbling to earn the trust of a wary horse. it's been awhile since I've had to prove myself

Sorry, I did not get to finish voting yesterday morning. It seems like always one more job. Then my son brought my grandson, Dominic down, who is 12, and always hungry. So I started making him breakfast, of fried potatoes and bacon. We went to brush the rabbits, and still working on Auroa's tangles....have to cut her fur down to the skin, since she is a long haired bunny and this spring got into cockburrs, and her whole body was one big mess. It is very sloooooooooooooooow work, 1/4 inch snips at a time. I think I found her tail. :)

Thanks for the congrats, it came as a surprise. Allie's training is coming along, but slowly. The other horses are getting the summer off, for the most part, but Allie handles the heat so well, she may always be my summer horse.

Zor you look so happy with the kids & Susan!
The new profile picture is of Whiskey and Smooch meeting through the fence! He is doing very well and the kids love him, so does Susan. Deacon would whinny here and there the 1st 2 days but sense then he has been fine. Of course he is getting 100% of my attention so he is eating that up. Cliff has been working on framing in the stall area to reinforce it. We were going to add some metal to the roof area but mother nature had a different plan for yesterday afternoon ~ yes the heavens opened up and we got hit by another storm that graced us with an 1" of rain. We did get the 2 panels plus the gate panel situated around the stall so Deacon now has afternoon & evening shade. Deacon welcomed the rain yesterday because it has been so hot here. He had a spa day Saturday and lots of grazing time in the yard. Yesterday he was groomed and turned out in the yard again. It has been to hot to ride. I hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead ♡

Hope it is cooler by you now. We hit the 80's yesterday for Father's Day. Went to our son's house for supper. He is a good cook, does not take after his Mom, that's for sure. It's been such a busy week, and today looks like the same way. Hubby said one of us will have to get a job soon, because we spent so much helping our grandson with his collage, this is a joke, because we saved 10 dollars a week since he was born. Did this for all the 4 grandkids. He is going to linesman school, 9 mt course, fast pace, on hand training at school, then lots of homework. This morning he left to go pick up our beef, we butchered about 2 weeks ago.

So sorry I haven't been on. HC was down, then I had long shifts at work, making it impossible to vote. The wind was so hot when I got off work, Sunday night, my eyes burned. I came home, watered some of my trees, filled Sadie's water and splashed her butt with the hose. I got a dirty look, lol. What a brat. She's doing well, drinking lots of water. Thankful the heat doesn't seem to bother her. I started her on psyllium pellets, again. I mixed them with carrots and apples. She'd eat them without a treat, but I love to spoil her. And yes, I pay for it. Lol. Love and a vote.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. So have you ridden Whiskey at all, like to get him used to the English tack and bit? Just curious! Well I'm not liking these hot days at all! Today was like 90, so needless to say, horses didn't get turned out! I did get all the mowing finished in 3 days, so the place shouldn't be a hay field when I get home next Sunday night. Trailer is in place and half packed! Just need to put extra bedding and all their feed and hay in tomorrow. Then hit the road about noon time! Of course it's going to be another hot one! I don't envy them in that trailer! I lunged Paige and did showmanship. Indy got to free play. Then Honey and I went down about 3 pm and did hay and water. And by the way, Honey did a sit stay and watched me pick stalls, empty water buckets 70 feet from the barn and then I filled them and hayed the horses. She never moved! This little pup is so smart! Love her! Well, I won't be on again till next Monday! So take care, vote when you can for my herd and I'll try to check in on FB during the show. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hoping Zor & Whiskey are working out. Don't know the name of the rescue, but have they thought about getting a big stuffed toy for the foal to have? Please keep us updated if you can on how is doing. Jazz had no problem with the Squeezy Bun and pill this AM. Feeling lucky, after talking to a friend and checking the symptoms of a lightning strike, feel sure Jazz got lightly nailed Sunday night (the pole it hit and split was 200' from the pen they spend the night in, and Dana said her vet told her lightning can travel up to 200 yards). Monday she was down and didn't want to get up, and seemed a bit uncoordinated. Was better after she got up, Tues was the same. She is back to normal since yesterday

AS you all know HC was not cooperating yesterday morning! Tuesday was wonderful. I enjoyed seeing Cheryl again and meeting Susan. Susan's rescue horse Zor is just beautiful too, I think he will be a good fit once they gain his trust. Had a ruff morning after discovering my trailer light adapter was missing so Cheryl had to run me to the store to buy another one! LOL the drive there to take Whiskey was beautiful as well,. Everything is so green and all the fields are full of corn and other crops. When we got back we went and ate lunch and she then went shopping at the bakery shop. Deacon watched the road and our trailer the rest of the day whinnying off and on. He was better yesterday. We continue to toss around idea's on how to build the stalls next to the tack room. Of course Deacon's should be ready this weekend like Sunday, I think my son Coleton will have to help though now that Cliff has a small gout problem that has flared up, we will see. I will help as well because I'm off the weekend. Saturday is a dedicated day to Deacon and everyone knows to leave me alone so I can pamper him with a good long bath and some light riding where its not muddy and no corn is growing! We are surrounded by corn fields right now-I will get a picture after his spa morning :) Have a wonderful day ♡

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. No horsey time today! Had a hearing test this morning, and the doctor was 30 minutes late getting there. So that right ear that had the major sinus infection and fluid still in it, still has fluid in it. Have to give the results to my doctor on the 29th when I got for my asthma check up and readings of all my blood work and physical from a few weeks ago. Then have to go back and have the right ear tested again on July 22nd! Stopped and did some errands and then got home about 2:30 pm. So just turned the horses out for a couple of hours, of course now we're back to high 80's and a very slight breeze. Tomorrow rain, so I'll ride then. In the indoor of course.
