Princeton has been a super lesson horse and is always a favorite. Peach used to pull a wagon and has been retrained to ride. Same for Buttercup, who has also won $$ as a barrel racer at our local playday. Godiva and Peek have both been shown in walk/trot division and won championships.

My Horse's Favorite Treat: Apples, carrots, cookies, & pony pops are the usual treats.

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: Play with the red apple or grazin' toy, lick the himalyan salt lick or pony pops, get sprayed with the hose or play in the water trough, lay in the sun or roll.

How We Met

Sing was bred at Walmac Farm in Lexington, KY. Her sire, High Brite, was a success as a race horse. He won over $1.5 million and became a stud horse. She was sold at Keeneland for $7000 to Randy Preston trainer. She raced 4 times and was out of the money each and every time so he sold her to a friend he had here in the Houston area. She was at an eventing barn here. She was too small for the woman who had intended to buy her. I looked at her and decided to buy her. She has a big heart and is quite brave about trying anything I ask of her..

Hope one of the saddles works out. That's great that will come out and fit them. Meg was good, as always. Cisco's turn today, wasn't sure how he'd be but he was totally calm with groundwork so had a short ride - he was so good. Will ride again tomorrow if the rain holds off.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. I agree, it's like when I was in therapy for my shoulder, heat packs, work, then ice down. But like with what I have to do with Paige, it's to check and see if she needs a pop of the poll vertebra and adjust it so she'll bend and flex better. Glad that Buttercup is responding so well all ready for ya. See I've heard that long trotting will build them up more than loping or cantering. Well today's my Monday, day off too from doing a lot. Plus I was tired yet after all I did on Sunday. Well if anyone saw my FB post this morning, yes we woke up to an inch of snow on the ground! The winter that just won't quite! It just keeps giving and giving and giving! And guess what, woke up and my back was better, maybe stretching to clean the truck and dry it off helped, who knows. But got good news, I can start to ride, only at the walk for the first couple of days and only for 15 minutes to start out. See how the back is feeling and responding to riding. Still no heavy lifting, so putting that 40LB western saddle up there is up to Marissa. LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

That sounds great! Happy to hear the stretches are working out well for your horses. I would love to get a saddle fitting done...$70 is not bad at all. Sounds like you will have some very happy horses soon. :) Here's a vote for ya.

the blue bridle and breat harness match your blue boots? So happy for you-be sure to sit in each saddle and good luck! ♥ we ended up with visitors Friday. My grandson Jason and our nephew Little Ron stayed the night. We had fun. I gave the horses a spa day and had a wonderful ride on Deacon. All the farm land was dry enough for me to ride a long while. I also rode Whiskey Sunday. It was SOOOO windy. He doesn’t spook and it seems nothing bothers this horse “) No way Deacon could of took it, he’s the one who see’s monsters in the high winds. Have a great day!!!

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Okay, so like did she say to do the stretches before or after riding. I usually do them before to limber them up and stretch them out. That's not bad, $70 for the fitting and then deducted from the purchase, well worth it. Good luck! Well it was 19 this morning but went up to 42 with strong sun. Felt good. I think I over did it today however. Had spring fever and did a lot. Indy got lunged, then Bullseye got free play. Decided to get the big tractor down there and rake the indoor. That was okay, as it has power steering. Then left and went over to Paige. I lunged her and did some showmanship, as Sunday she's not on the work list. So I try to work her to get her out of her stall. Then drove Beast to the truck wash and gave it a bath. Came home and then re-wiped it down to get the water spots off it! That was probably the straw to break the camels back! Or at least my back! Good thing tomorrow is Chiro day for me. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Glad they are coming out to make sure the saddle fits well. We were 83 today, with high winds. Meant to ride Cisco, but when I went out to get him, Meg volunteered to get caught. I think she was a bit jealous that the other 2 got attention yesterday and she didn't, so today was Meg day, she really seemed to enjoy the attention. Cisco and Nugget got groomed out in the pasture.

That's so cool you have a chance to have the saddle fitted for Butterscotch. I've heard good things about all 3 of those saddles. Will they let you actually ride in them to see how Butterscotch moves and reacts to each? Keep us posted.
That's a good idea to have your students help keep everyone stretched out. Do you still do the pelvic tilt on the geldings, since they assume a totally different pee position?
Turned off chilly this weekend, around freezing this morning. I never could get warm yesterday, guess I've already adjusted for warmer temps, lol. I did ride BJ a bit. His jog in the riding ring has gotten soooo slow. I think he's discovered a loophole there: as long as he's actually jogging, he can go as slow as he can and I don't fuss. I swear I could walk backwards faster than he jogs now. Out in the field or trails, he's much faster, thank goodness. We'd never get anywhere otherwise.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Are you doing the stretches daily? Or did they tell you to do them just so many days a week? Well it was so cold and windy today. I really think that Spring has been renamed, extended Winter, to come for the month of May! Went over by Paige, got another showmanship workout. This time fine tuning our square turns and pivots. With added changes in my position now of handling and setting her up. What a difference in how Paige responded to the ques. Got home and was going to take a walk down to that woman's house to see if they found the beagle, but the winds had the temps down to 22 degrees and it was just to cold for my ole'bones. Hopefully tomorrow we'll start a warming trend again! But going down to 14 degrees tonight! More wood in the stove please! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. I really think that's it. Matter of thicker skinned. How's it going with the girls now, any better? Well, that rain last night, turned to snow! Nothing really to speak of here, but just 20 miles from me it was a few inches deep! Has anyone seen Spring? If so, give it our zip code please! LOL! Got over to see Paige and had a showmanship lesson again. Since I can't ride yet, Marissa is really drilling us, only today might have been to long. I felt it a little after the 40 minute workout! Got home and went for a walk, I know walking is really good for the back. Well the one mile I had planned on, turned into close to 2 miles. I meet a neighbor who's year old beagle ran off, slipped it's harness. Spent over 90 minutes walking the road and then the woods by her house looking for Olivia. Didn't find her. Hope she comes home for super! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

The vet came out on Tuesday, had all the coggins done, checked their teeth and cleaned sheaths. Poor Ace the drugs really took effect on him. He was so drowsy, it took him a good while to wake up. Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well it warmed up to about 52 degrees, but with the rain is was so damp. I really would rather have had 35 degrees and sunshine! LOL! Got Indy and Bullseye to the indoor. Indy got lunged, he was shocked that I put the line on him. Usually I free lunge him, but I wanted to work on lots of changes of direction. Then Indy got a shave and trim and spruced up. Bullseye I did the bulbs of his frogs, they really over grow. So I pulled out my mechanics stool and sat on it, he don't care and got my nippers out. He's such a good little donkey. Well chance of a thunder storm tonight, lovely! Still, better than snow! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Here's a vote from Buddy! It's been a long time since we've been on to blog, I've signed on now and then so my points don't go away, but haven't had time to do much of anything else. So here's a update on us!

Things didn't work out with the move to Grande Cache work/money wise for my fiancé & I, so we moved back to my home town of Grande Prairie, but of course that was after we put ourselves in major debt :( We're living with Robs brother currently, and trying to get back on track. Rob got a job doing the same as he was in Edmonton, and got his class 1 license last week, so now he can drive a big truck of his own and make more $$! I babysit my niece for my sister 5 nights a week, and still sell Scentsy. I'm looking for another job during the day, but haven't had much luck with it yet.

Buddy is still in Grande Cache, hopefully just until the end of this month. I have a place to keep him here just outside of town, I've just got to pay the Grande Cache people up in full before I can move him. I also have to find a trailer to rent and Rob & I both need the day off, as I won't be able to make the trip to GC and then back to GP before I have to babysit. There's lots I need/want to do when I finally have my boy back with me. I of course, want to make sure he settles in to the new place well, and spend some time with him since I haven't seen him this year yet (I feel terrible for this,) plus the owners of the new place want me to get him a vet check when he gets here.

I hope everyone has been well and enjoying horsey time! Hope spring has sprung for you all!

-Buddy & Jasmine

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Saw on FB that Smooch is really doing well in his exercises. Do you think that the full size horses skin is thinner and they feel the pressure easier than that of the Halfingers? Just wondering. Well day started off on the bad foot! Cat (Mo) got out of the barn this morning, which in it's self is okay, he roams the place in the summer. But the fact that he caught and ate one of my Morning Doves who nest every year on top of my A/C unit to the bedroom, really ticked me off. I don't know if he killed momma or dad! He's lucky he's not dead himself! On a brighter note, went over to do another Showmanship lesson with Paige. She was really, really good for me. But did eat off her bell boots, Marissa left them on this morning after riding her and the let her loose in the stall! Yummy she said! Indy and Bullseye got turnout time in the indoor. Rains started around 3 pm and tomorrow will be heavier with thunder storms, but however going up to about 53 degrees. Lots more snow melted off today! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

♥ what a busy morning, I can finally take a moment and try to post on a few folks! I was able to work with the herd on the (exercises/adjustments) that Susan (sing and cross creek stables) mom showed us on FB. I used the hoof pick brushes to lift the belly from underneath to stretch the back-I used my fingers and then water to lift the butt area-then I flexed them low and high toward their back ends-I have to say they were very responsive! We had fun with it. I ended up having a nice day off with my herd. I also rode and did side passing, backing and flexing from the saddle. It’s to wet still to ride out. Have a great day!!!

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Another day of 18 degrees, but it did make it to 43 today with strong sunshine. It actually felt nice out there. And tomorrow the high 40's but overcast and possible rain. Got over to see Paige today. I actually did about 15 minutes of showmanship lesson with her. Then Marissa rode her, she was good. Got home and walked 1/2 mile again to help strengthen the back muscles. Still taking my Traumeel and I did rub the ointment on tonight. Did ta pick your boots out yet ?? I been putting a sweatshirt on Jack at night , I think he likes it, the vet is out till the April 1 so I am doing my best with Dr. him myself, if it wasn't for his bum leg he'd be doing great, I keep it wrapped and made him a duck tape boot so he does not drag his hoof raw, this AM he appeared to be walking a little better, trimmed all his hooves last night and put a clean wrap on him, I use 2 pair of tube socks, bandage wrap to hold them up then make the duck tape boot, seems to work great, today is mid 50* here, rain storm last night, wind storm now, and a tiny bit of sun when the clouds pass, Lilly will just be getting visits today !! have a wonderful week, love Suz and Lilly

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Now that was a good idea about the hoof pick with the brush on the end. The bristles probably feel itchy and make them move away from it. Yeah, my two have had more work done on them with these things, so they are very willing to do them. Cause it's no workout for me at all. Even with my back like it is, I did both of them this weekend. You'll get used to it and they'll get better at it. Lazy Monday today! Are you ready for this, I woke up tired! LOL! Did go down and take Indy out to the indoor, but the temps were cold! It was only 16 when I got up to feed and the high was 30 degrees with windy winds! So not much melted off today! Did go for another walk, just all the way down back of my farm and around and up the side along the indoor. Just picking up some of the neighbors trash that blew into my hay field and along the indoor. Tomorrow I'll be going over to see Paige, hopefully I'll be doing some of the grooming on her. The Traumeel pills are working as good as or better than the Aleve and no heartburn from them. Didn't use the ointment today either, trying to see how it's doing without all the stuff. Seems to be getting there. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

the stock is bolted down to cement. Yes, I love it! When Whiskey's eye was hurt I had to get one. The dollar amount for leaving him at the doc's place was to much for us to handle. I have had lots of use besides his eye (several times of eye problems with him) for that stock, I feel very blessed we made that decision to get it. We had one of Cliff's friend build it for us. We took the measurements from Doc Edwards-our equine dr. and he welded us one :)
♡ it will be spa day and flex day for the horses tomorrow. The engine will not be put in Cliff’s truck until Wednesday so he will use mine tomorrow. No hauling out until the weekend. Whiskey rolled and is muddy from head to tail and Deacon & Rocket didn’t, guess they wanted to stay clean “) Have a wonderful Monday!!!

I have a trainer friend who says the same thing about letting a horse get older before riding. I think i'll be able to offset the work ethic thing by continuing to do groundwork with her, maybe even ponying her on some trails, etc. with her being such a small breed, she's just too little to really ride yet. even with my niece being fairly light, Allie was having noticeable trouble balancing and where to put her feet. some of that may have been cause she was on a lunge line, but I just feel in my gut she needs more time. Kathryn says she felt like her walker mare, not gaited, but with a smooth long stride.
it does seem like it would take a week or so to get the horses loosened up and over any soreness from the new stretches before you see much improvement. how long does it take to stretch out one horse? x3?
speaking of x3, how's the riding challenge coming? are you getting as much rain as other parts of Tx? it's been drizzly here, not enough to raise lake levels, but enough to interfere with riding. and it's watering the grass, which we need.
well, hope you have a good Monday.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Working on those stretches with the kids? I did Paige today, her neck ones, got two good pops out to the left, poll and back about 2 inches from poll. Did the belly lift with her, she lifted with just my thumb nail in her belly. Forgot to do the pelvic tip, will give it a go on Tuesday. Well, it was sunny and only got to about 35 degrees, but the sun was strong, so it melted off more of snow, I can see about 50% of my farm! WHOO HOO! Indy got to the indoor and did some free lungeing with him. He's so good! Then took a ride to fuel up the Beast and over to WalMart for a couple of things. On the way home, cruised over to see Paige and get my dose of kisses and face washing from her. I did brush her mane and spray condition it and then brush again. It's so long! Home and on the couch to rest my back, a little better each day, but not fast enough to suit me! LOL! Oh buy the way, tonights temp is going down to 12 degrees, where the heck is spring??? how're are the flexing exercises going? are you seeing a difference yet?
we continue to get a fair amount of drizzle, so not much accumulation to raise the lake level, just enough to slow down the riding. and water the grass, I guess, which we need.
after being picked on, I did let my niece ride Allie yesterday for the first time. Allie did great, but she's too small and young, so i'll let her wait until she's 3. but at least I know she'll be a good girl when the time comes.
well, hope you're having a good weekend. take care.

good thing is I do have a stock, so I must give that a try. One day I hope to take my horses and have them adjusted as well for now I have to do what I learn from everyone else. I had the tack store order in several saddles plus I tryed some used one's on Deacon. The good thing about my circle y trail saddle (wide)is that it does fit whiskey and rocket with the right saddle pads. Rocket doesn't hardly have whiters so I use a ortho pad that is built up some in the front, whiskey just has a thicker pad and any pad works for Deacon. love your new blue boots, how do they feel?
✞ Enjoyed my feeding time with the herd after work. We have the gates closed to the turnouts so the grass can grow good plus it’s that time of the year to be careful they don’t eat too much of this fresh grass to founder. Each day they were worked up to about an hour until 2 days ago so I think I will put them back to 30 minutes a day for a few before getting them back to an hour. Happy trails and Have a wonderful day ♡

What can I say, my work is wet and dirty....
Good Morning my friends, feeling better today, most of the swelling is down, I can see again. For some of our jobs safety glasses are required, however, I wear glasses anyway. This was just a freak accident, believe me this does not happen often, in 14 years it has never happened to me. We had trouble with this flock of birds, they were not taken off feed early enough, it was just a bad day. Yesterday was such a mixed bag, wind, rain, snow, ice pellets then believe it or not, SUN. I am soooo ready for some nice dry weather. Have a great day. we left a vote, Love Donna Lee

Hi Susan. Yes, it locks, and I keep it locked. Sadie's out grazing on the grass from the recent rains. Peace of mind until she finds something else to get into. Lol. Love the blue boots. Love and a vote.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Can you cross tie them to do the pelvic tip? Carole just works on mine in their stall. Throws the lead up over their neck and they kinda just melt into her hands. Did you get acupuncture done also, I meant to ask you? Well happy to report that we only got 3 inches of snow on the first day of Spring! And today it was overcast, but did hit 46 degrees, so just about all the snow has melted off! I had no intentions of moving it, Nature put it there, Nature was going to take it away. Back is a little better again, I even kinda was able to roll onto my side last night to sleep. Did finally have the strength and Indy did really lower his head for me on command to get his two heavy blankets off, gave him a good currying! He's even got a short fine hair blowout going on! And later on I walked 1/2 mile to build up my back! So it was a good day. Marissa said Paige is well and misses her mommy! LOL! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

crazy busy week here! got taxes wrapped up. took smooch, peach and buttercup to chiropractor which was quite a "day trip". it was a first visit for all of us so lots of data was collected. they went to a very fine rehab clinic that does chiro, acupuncture, naturopathy and all that stuff. have an underwater treadmill for horses. really neat stuff! peach and buttercup gave me loading problems. hope they will load to return for their follow up appointments in a few weeks. I'm giving Chinese herbs for pain/healing for 5 days, stretching their neck, pelvis area as best I can. it is exhausting work! you know how your horse tucks it's butt under when you get water under his tail when hosing him off? that flexing is a hip exercise that I'm supposed to make them do. they can move around and it's very hard to do it when they're tied. I don't have a stock. that made it easy to do it at the clinic. happy spring to all!!
