How We Met

Sing was bred at Walmac Farm in Lexington, KY. Her sire, High Brite, was a success as a race horse. He won over $1.5 million and became a stud horse. She was sold at Keeneland for $7000 to Randy Preston trainer. She raced 4 times and was out of the money each and every time so he sold her to a friend he had here in the Houston area. She was at an eventing barn here. She was too small for the woman who had intended to buy her. I looked at her and decided to buy her. She has a big heart and is quite brave about trying anything I ask of her..

trotting by to leave you a vote :) How quick the weekends seem to go! Grocery shopping, mowing and baby shower on Saturday, Sunday more mowing and weed eating plus helped a little with the north side of the stall. I groomed Deacon and fly sprayed him, no riding, maybe Friday or next Monday. Have a wonderful week ♡

Come visit me, Whiskey & ♥ Deacon ♥.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well less humidity and temps today with a nice breeze most of the day! High was only about 80 degrees, I can live with that! LOL! Got a ride in on Paige, going back to basics with her loping to get her to use that rear end drive train! She's had enough time to really heal! Then weed whacked a little. Turned them out, yay! They were happy! Mowed the back yard and then one pasture! It's gonna take a week to catch up mowing and it'll be time to start all over! Got spoiled in June and early July with no rain and the grass not growing. Now with the humidity and dew, it's gone crazy! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well, hot and humid again! Did a few things this morning and then went to a BBQ for a short time. Got home by 2 pm and it was way to hot to turn them out. Brought them up and cold hosed and let them dry for 10 minutes eating the backyard grass, not safe there either! Killed a big boeing 707 in each one each time! They about dragged me to the barn! Hayed and fresh watered them. Then sweated my butt off mowing the baby pasture and back by the manure pile. Oh ground hog count is not 5 caught and bang bang! And for those of you who know the story, one was drug by crows into idiots backyard and the crows were feasting on it! He came out and had to remove it! I was in the barn watching him, he was like a little girl doing it! I couldn't stop laughing. Shame on me, naw! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

A Vote for You!!
Here it is nearly noon, and I have just started sending out votes. Started at 6 this morning, but been busy, my grandson, Dominic, stayed over night, so we have been busy doing projects, working on the trailer lights, because the breaks lights were not working....blinkers OK, just brakes. Watered all the baby tress about 20 of them, which Dominic and I have planted the last few yrs, watered them with manure water. I have a 55 gallon barrel half full of manure, and put it under the roof to catch water then water the trees with it.

I have not done much riding these last few days, mostly because now Willow is out in the big field, her and Whisper get along fine, but I don't really bring them in, until late like it is dark already. Mistit is out with them, I did keep her in the other pen, and also staked her out, but right now, I have been letting the baby chicks run outside, under the lean to part of the shed, and that is where Mistit would go for shade, and with the door shut, she would have to stand out in the sun. Little chicks are learning how to free forage outside for bugs, and then to come in for water or feed, plus where the come "home to roost". Now, I have heard that saying before. Off in a bit to take Mikey in for labs this morning. Beautiful morning, foggy out, and temps are in the 50's, but will get up to the 70. Right now we have no outdoor temps on our thermometer so guessing on that.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well the rain yesterday was 1.5 inches, but the ground was dry this morning, it really needed it again! Spent the late morning and half the early afternoon, cleaning out the trailer! Since the weather was delightful, 73 degrees with a breeze! And best was no bugs or humidity! Sinks scrubbed, toilet scrubbed, throw rugs out and vacuumed, floor washed, laundry done, all the horses stuff but away, and the feed, hay stall swept out! Now I just have to Pledge the wood cabinets and scrub the refridge, but I still have drinks in there for when I'm working on it. Horses were out for like 2 hours, they loved it, no bugs and just peaceful! Tomorrow it's a trip to Tractor Supply for Paige's food and pelleted bedding while the 10% coupon is still good. Then home and start to work with Paige again. Knee brace is back on, hopefully it'll support it enough I can get back to riding. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well today we packed up and left early. My knees said that they had it and I was overtired! Just can't get comfortable with that left knee at night time! So 4 and 5 hours of sleep is not enough for this ole'cowgirl! Besides rains were moving in, and it was an outdoor show! So rain is not my idea of fun either! LOL! Very happy to go Circuit Class Champion in Open Ages Mares with Paige, and just missed the Amy Sr. Mares by 3 points! Oh well next time! She did very well, hardly any screaming out of her at all. Indy was happy when I picked him up at Marissa's barn. Annie that works full time for Marissa said after he calmed down about missing his girl, he was a pleasure to be around and work with. He had daily turnout for a while in a semi-dry lot, but it had a big hay rack in it full all the time. So how much playing he did, I don't know, but he ate well, that's for sure! Good to be home, pouring rain now! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Not the first time that Sadie's turned on the water. I'm sure it won't be the last time, either. If she thinks about it, she'll do it, again. The only way to keep her from it is to keep her put up. Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well we're all packed and ready to go. Just have to put the grain in the trailer, didn't want that sitting in the hot humid sun all day! Sure gonna miss Indy at the show. He's doing a sleep over at Marissa's barn to save me on the cost of his stall! Stalls at this show are $125! So Marissa said bring him and his grain and hay over and he can have Paige's winter stall, it's still waiting for her! LOL! Got them lunged today in the indoor with the fans on. Humidity was worse today, sure hoping that this storm that we had about an hour ago cools things off! Otherwise, it'll be halter and showmanship for me and no riding! I won't ride her in that heat! No sense killing her or myself! Not worth it! Well we'll be back on HC on Monday. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Morning temps have been in the 50's and sure feels good, but by afternoon its in the 80's. If I can get some of the hard jobs done in the morning is better. Yep, no one wants to go to the Ladysmith Hospital if they can help it. Now, Mikey has a appointment early Sept. for MRI on his foot/toe to make sure infection has not spread....same infection Ladysmith said was not there....but his friend sent me a message, that they took off the big black scrabs....about small dime size, and his toe nail, and his toe now looks like a real toe. She said it looked good to her. So now I pray some more.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well, it almost seemed like a needed a sweater today! Just kidding! It was only 91 with a heat index of 102! So compared to yesterday, it was cold! Just kidding again, my brain is fried! Well I did get to saddle and bit up Paige and lunge her like that. I had all the doors open in the indoor and the fans on, combined with the nice breeze we had earlier, it was okay in there! After her lunging, she got cold hosed and on the wall. Then I did Indy, only naked for him, no saddle. Then cold hosed him and on the wall. Bullseye got hosed off only. While they were thinking about life, I mowed a pasture and the short side of the indoor arena. With the rains and the temps, the grass is growing again! Hopefully Monday it'll be even cooler they say and I can get them out for pasture time! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

I had a long talk with Mistit while I brushed her, she just kept nodding her head agreeing with me, about it time to have that baby.....its been a long summer, on baby watch.
Sunday vote from Whisper, Willow and the little herd for you. NIce out today....so far...getting some jobs done outside, that usually is too hot out in the morning to do. Trying to move the turtle cage out to the shed for the little keets, because they are out growing their rabbit cage. The turtle cage is about 5 feet high, 4 ft wide and 10-12 ft long, and no bottom, so they can learn to scratch in the dirt. Because its made from chicken wire, I can put long sticks in for roosts, also put branches, and plants so that they learn to hide in the grasses. I feed them clover and grasses now, but cut it up with the scissors. They are too small to be out with the little chicks, yet. The keets have one fault, they hide their little heads into a hole....like between the hay bales, when being picked on, thinking they can not be seen, but they do not know how to move backwards, only forwards, so they get deep between the bales and die. They are a very smart bird...except for that one stupid fault. So I keep them safe until they are older. Most are spoken for except for the ones I will keep...some different colors than what I have now

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well not much happened around the farm today! Except the temps were 96 with an index of 112! I went down to see about using the indoor at 11 am and it was 94 inside, the fans couldn't clear it out! So no one got out of the barn! All fans running on high, and it's still miserably hot in there! As fast as you hose them off, scrape them down and put them away, they break a sweat all over again! Just keeping fresh cold water in their buckets all day long. I did mow the lawn, that's like a 90 minute job and I felt everyone of those minutes! Then it was in the house in the A/C with Honey! Hopefully they say it'll break Sunday night and be more seasonable! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well the new Generator is installed and on standby! Lot's more power than the old one! He was here before 8 am and it took about 3.5 hours to do. I helped him with the tractor and bucket to remove old one and put it on his flat bed. Then I got Indy, who was sweating just standing in his stall. Of course did he stand in front of his fan, no! Lunge him for 10 minutes. Indoor wasn't bad, had all the ceiling and door fans on full tilt. Then took him up and cold hosed him off and put him on the wall. Got Paige out and lunged her, did like 5 minutes of showmanship and realized it was getting very dark out! Yep storm moving in, thankfully no lightning or thunder, so in the rain we went up and hosed her down, and of course mother nature then opened up on us! It was cool rain and I couldn't have gotten any wetter had I jumped in a pool! But it felt so good! Got her back to the barn, sweat scraped her off and put her on the wall. Went to the house and had to strip down in the rec room, I was drenched! LOL! It lasted about 20 minutes, and made it more humid! Today's temps were 92 with a heat index of 106! I posted it on FB from our weather station! Hopefully tomorrow they say a little cooler, maybe only 90 with bad humidity! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well when you walk outside and your glasses fog up, you know you're in trouble! Think I'm gonna have to wear my contacts for the next few days! At 6:15 it was 74 already, with 88% humidity! In 45 minutes doing barn chores, my cloths and I were drenched! I'm really not liking this. And now till Sunday 9 pm we are in an extreme heat warning, of indexes over 105 degrees! Tons of humidity! we are so not used to this! I had to go over to the Fair Show, it was 96 degrees there with an index of 104 and those darn Hunter Jumpers were out there jumping courses of 4 foot and better! Like really, you don't respect your horse! Mine in the barn with 8 fans going were standing still and sweating! On another note, Kudos to the Olympic rider that pulled her horse up after starting her dressage test. He had been bitten by a poisonous bug last week and was very sick. He came out of it, and 4 vets gave him the go ahead to compete. But he didn't feel right to his owner/rider and she stopped him, saluted and excused herself from the competition! Her statement was, that her partner of 19 years meant more to her than a medal! Gotta love that woman! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

So thankful for Sadie's shade. She is, too. I've got a small wall on the west side, about 6 feet wide. Going to wall up the north side when the the weather cools down. Don't know if Sadie uses the wall to block the blowing sand. She uses the shade when the sun is hot and when it rains. Plays in her water trough to cool down. The fly mask protects her eyes from flies and blowing dust and sand. She's use to the weather, no matter how crazy it gets. Leaving lots of love and a vote.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well you could cut through the humidity with a knife. It got worse as the afternoon went on! I worked Paige early and in 40 minutes we were both wet with sweat! Paige got a cold hosing and then I turned it on myself, wet my shirt and pants down, felt good! Ran down town and paid the property taxes, yuk! Got home and seemed like the humidity dropped a little and there was a breeze. Turned the horses out for like 90 minutes and when I went to get them, the humidity was like walking in a sauna room! The green heads were really eating at Paige and she was running up a storm! Got her right away. But her in and by her fan, used a cold towel to cool her down. Indy wasn't as bad, and Bullseye didn't even break a sweat. If the humidity would just take a hike! I could handle the temps! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Monsoon season. Large dust storm hit the Phoenix area, yesterday. Horrible winds were slamming into the house around noon, shaking it. Thanking Jesus for not losing power. Tucson was flooded from the heavy rains. I had to work a short shift, last night. Hard rain hit here before I got home, and flooded the highway below my house. And yes, it's miserably humid, now, but thankful for the rain. Also, thankful for Sadie's larger corral. The east end flooded, but the west was good. Sadie's good, too. Horses are rugged animals. They can survive so much worse. All she seemed to care about was food. I let her out, waded through puddles to the hay shed, and gave her a flake of hay. She had her carrots and apples, too. Her new salt brick melted. Need to buy 2 at a time, just in case. Love and a muggy vote. <3

Bo looked so pretty after her bath yesterday, nothing gleams like a bright red sorrel. This evening when I fed, noticed she had a lot of dried sweat again. The only thing I can think of is that she has such a hard time getting around, that is causing her to sweat. Going to be amazing next week, mid 80's Sat (and maybe rain), then mid 90's for a week. Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well it's boring being stuck to doing nothing! The only good thing was, it was hot and humid! 88 degrees with index of 92, so I guess I didn't mind hanging out in the house watching some of the Olympics. Did turn the horses out for like 90 minutes. Got them in a little after 1:30 pm, the big horse flies were out and dive bombing them! Ugh like kids, slow down I can't walk that fast, I'll get ya in the barn to safety! No heat or swelling in my knee, and the burning feeling was all gone. Iced it twice already today, third to come after HC posts. Yay, tomorrow I can do chores around the farm and I'll work with Paige a little before the boom boom's move in! Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Feel bad that I didn't have time to get the horses out today. But they did get lunch in front of their fans! I had the orthopedic this morning, and got the right knee injected with the Synvisc and told to not do anything stupid! Like rest and ice. Told him I had the chiro and then had to do a little food shopping. He said that was okay, but no messing with the horses other than feeding. So when I got home from Dr. V's I rested and then just before the chiro I gave them each some hay and fresh water. Got home from chiro and Wally World and trapped my first groundhog! He ate all the apple and for desert he got lead! One down, 2 or 3 to go! Tomorrow before the heat and humidity set in, I hope to get them turned out. But on Wed I can return to normal chores and riding. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

No breeze at the horse, hot sun! Stayed about 4 hours and got to see my friends and our teammates ride and both of Marissa's youth kids did great! Lot's of circuit class championships. Got home and had mine turned out by 1:30 till like 3 pm when the flies were really starting to get nasty. I can tell when they want in, they will come and hang out by their gates and eat the grass right there! Okay, here I come to save ya! Then this ole'lady took a nice long nap! LOL! Have the orthopedic tomorrow morning to get my hock injections. Yep getting the Synvisc in the right knee and probably one more Cortisone in the left knee. Left knee better, but it's not great and he said in four weeks or so I might need another shot to totally heal it. Let's do it! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi Sing & Herd, here's a vote for ya. Well it's another good day for Indy! They were out for like 90 minutes and by then it was 12:30 and the humidity was so bad they were wet with sweat! I got cleaned up and left for the horse show to cheer my friends on. And the exhibitors dinner at 5 pm. Good grub! Got home and Indy was half covered in poop, yep he's pooping good and laid down in it! Entire left side of his neck and shoulder is brown! But he's doing well, so I don't care! Tomorrow I want to go over early, since they start with trail and we have a horse showing in it. Then the pleasure and then horsemanship, and my favorite Ranch Pleasure. So I'll spend a few hours there, if it's not to hot, I might take Honey over with me. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.
