Making Time with Better Turns

World champion barrel racer Marlene McRae teaches you how to correct too tight and too wide turns.

Just like the three bears’ porridge, barrel turns come in three types—too tight, too wide and just right. To get fast times and put yourself in the money (or in the ribbons), you need perfectly executed turns. But what if your horse knocks barrels down, or does the opposite and runs way out and around them? Don’t worry. Follow world champion barrel racer Marlene McRae’s advice and you’ll be on your way to excellent turns.
