Eventer Hopes to Switch Allegiance

Phillip Dutton was born in Australian, but he’s based in the United States.

Phillip Dutton was born in Australian, but he’s based in the United States. Recently he became an official U.S. citizen, and now he hopes he can represent his new country in international Three-Day Eventing competition.
Dutton is one of Australia’s most experienced international Three-Day Eventing competitors, having competed in three Olympic Games and four World Championships since his international debut in 1994. The 43-year-old was part of Australia’s gold medal winning eventing teams at the Atlanta and Sydney Olympics.

Dutton moved to the United States in 1991 and lives with his American wife, Evie, and daughters Lee, Mary and Olivia in Pennsylvania. Dutton was recently named the 2006 U.S. Eventing Association Leading Rider for the 8th time.

"I am very excited about this new chapter in my life. It is a logical step for my career and family," Dutton says. "I look forward to the opportunity to ride and compete in the country that is now my home."
