Today is the beginning of competition at the 128th
National Horse Show and the dawn of a new chapter in the show’s history.
This year marks the first that the show will be held in Kentucky
after having drifted from its long history in Manhattan to a few years in
Florida, Pennsylvania and Syracuse, New York. This year is also the first where
the show has taken on a title sponsor, thus the National’s new moniker, the
Alltech National Horse Show (ANHS).
Horse enthusiasts everywhere will be able to watch this year’s
show right here on HorseChannel.com thanks to webcast from the Alltech Ag Network. Click here to see
the broadcast schedule, and scroll down to start watching. Videos will continue to be available for on-demand viewing after the show has ended.
Hunter competition takes place during the day starting at 8
a.m. today through Saturday. Jumper classes are featured in the evening
starting at 7 p.m. Highlights include the Open Jumpers Welcome Stake on
Wednesday, Nov. 2 and the $250,000 Alltech Grand Prix on Saturday evening. On
Sunday, the country’s best hunt seat equitation riders take the stage in the
ASPCA Maclay National Championship beginning at 7:00 a.m. with the second round
at 3:00 p.m.
The ANHS has made a commitment to assisting charities
through donations of 50% of each evening’s ticket sales. Beneficiaries include
the Kentucky Horse Park’s Mustang Troop, Louisville Mounted Police, the
Kentucky Equine Humane Center and the ASPCA.
