How do you feel about horse-drawn carriages in major cities?
They should be allowed as they always have been.
They should be regulated better to make sure the horses aren't overworked.
They should be restricted to parks or low-traffic areas.
They should be banned from cities. It's not safe for the horses or people.

Dressage for a Cause

These equestrians are finding creative ways to beat breast cancer.

Are you of a charitable nature and living on the east coast? The Potomac Valley Dressage Association (PVDA) is hosting an evening performance of dancing horses to raise funds for the Johns Hopkins Breast Cancer Center in Baltimore, Md. at its Ride for Life benefit dressage horse show on June 30, 2007. The event will be held at the popular Prince Georges Equestrian Center. The dedicated group of dressage fans expects to raise over $50,000 for the Johns Hopkins Breast Cancer Center from its fourth annual Ride for Life.  Last year’s event raised over $30,000. Olympic level horses will dance to their favorite music, with winners chosen by the audience in a special “Bribe the Judge” fundraiser. Doesn’t that sound like an intriguing idea? In addition, spectators will enjoy horses and riders performing in costumes, humor on horseback and jousting.

For more information on the festivities (perhaps you, your barn buddies and show pals would like to put together a similar venture), visit the detailed website at www.pvdarideforlife.org

Sounds like a great evening and a fun way to help a charity. Maybe this will catch on in other areas.

What an absolutely wonderful idea! Given the frequent close connection between women and horses, I can't think of a more approprite way to support breast canc er research. Thank you for reporting on this!
